Abstract
2-Hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde oxime was oxidized by AgO (or Ag2 O), in presence of N-methyl morpholine N-oxide (NMMO), to the title spiro adduct-dimer (±)-Spiro{naphthalene-1(2H),4'-(naphtho[2',1':2,3]pyrano[4,5-c]furazan)}-2-one-11'-oxide by a Diels-Alder(D-A) type self-cycloaddition, through the agency of an o-naphthoquinone nitrosomethide (o-NQM). Moreover, 2-hydroxy-8-methoxy-1-naphthaldehyde oxime was prepared and subjected to the same oxidation conditions. Its sterically guided result, 9-methoxynaphtho[1,2-d]isoxazole, was isolated, instead of the expected spiro adduct. The peri intramolecular H bonding in the oxime is considered to have a key contribution to the outcome. Geometry and energy features of the oxidant- and stereo-guided selectivity of both oxidation outcomes have been explored by DFT, perturbation theory and coupled cluster calculations. The reaction free energy of the D-A intermolecular cycloaddition is calculated at -82.0 kcal/mol, indicating its predominance over the intramolecular cyclization of ca. -37.6 kcal/mol. The cycloaddition is facilitated by NMMO through dipolar interactions and hydrogen bonding with both metal complexes and o-NQM. The 8(peri)-OMe substitution of the reactant oxime sterically impedes formation of the spiro adduct, instead it undergoes a more facile cyclodehydration to the isoxazole structure by ca. 4.9 kcal/mol.

Abstract
2-deoxythiosugars are more stable than 2-deoxysugars occurring broadly in bioactive natural products and pharmaceutical agents. An effective and direct methodology to stereoselectively synthesize α-2-deoxythioglycosides catalyzed by AgOTf has been developed. Various alkyl thiols and thiophenols were explored and the desired products were formed in good yields with excellent α-selectivity. This method was further applied to the syntheses of S-linked disaccharides and late-stage 2-deoxyglycosylation of estrogen, L-menthol, and zingerone thiols successfully.

Abstract
Pd-catalyzed intermolecular asymmetric allylic dearomatization of substituted β-naphthol derivatives with Boc-protected Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) adducts was developed. The reaction occurs smoothly in 1,4-dioxane at room temperature in the presence of [Pd(C3H5)Cl]2 (2.5 mol %), (S, Sp)-PHOX ligand (5.5 mol %), and Li2CO3 (1.0 equiv). A series of dearomatized products were afforded in moderate to excellent yields and enantioselectivity (up to 99% yield, 97% ee). Furthermore, the compatibility with gram-scale reaction and mild conditions make the current method synthetically useful.

Abstract
Parent 2,3:10,11-dibenzoheptazethrene is a singlet diradicaloid polycyclic hydrocarbon in the ground state that did not change its diradical character upon substitution (methyl and triisopropylsilylethynyl). Described herein are the synthesis and characterization of an ethoxy/3,5-(CF3)2C6H3-substituted 2,3:10,11-dibenzoheptazethrene 3 that prefers to retain its p-quinoidal core and shows zero diradical character, as determined by single-crystal analysis and density functional theory calculations. Negative solvatochromism, π-π interactions, Csp2-H···O hydrogen bonding, intramolecular charge transfer, redox amphotericity, and a narrow HOMO-LUMO energy gap make 3 a potential candidate for application in optoelectronics.

Abstract
Herein, we report an N-alkylation of pyrroles triggered by an unprecedented selective ring-expansive migration of the spiro-2H-pyrrole intermediates obtained via Ir-catalyzed asymmetric allylic dearomatization. The reaction affords a series of tetrahydropyrrolo[1,2-c]pyrimidine derivatives in good yields (up to 88%) with excellent enantioselectivity (up to >99% ee). The proposed reaction mechanism is supported by DFT calculations and the characterization of the key intermediate.

Abstract
A novel and efficient approach for the synthesis of functionalized isoxazoles via palladium-catalyzed cascade annulation/allylation of alkynyl oxime ethers with allyl halides has been established. The present protocol exhibits mild reaction conditions, good functional group compatibility, and convenient operation. Moreover, scalability was performed and further decoration of the isoxazole product was achieved.
