Abstract
A metal-free (NH4)2S2O8-mediated decarboxylative trifluoromethylation reaction of alkenes with 3,3,3-trifluoro-2,2-dimethylpropionic acid has been proposed. This method offers a novel route for the direct synthesis of a series of CMe2CF3-containing quinazolinones from basic chemical raw materials. The reaction mechanism was studied by a radical trapping test and DFT methods, verifying an oxidation-triggered cascade process promoted by the CMe2CF3 radicals. This strategy provides advantages such as high yield, wide substrate compatibility, and high atom economy.

Abstract
The de novo construction of enantioenriched 3-hydroxyindolenines and 3-oxindoles from easily available starting materials has been highly desired. Herein, an enantioselectively intermolecular direct [3 + 2] annulation of aryl amine with 2,3-diketoesters to construct 3-hydroxyindolenines with a chiral tertiary alcohol has been disclosed. The results of control experiments and DFT calculation revealed that π - π interaction plays a pivotal role in the enantioselectivity-determining process of [3 + 2] annulation. The following unusual concerted [1,2]-ester migration provides a family of chiral 3-oxindoles in good to excellent yields with excellent enantioselectivity.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative/decarboxylative phosphorylation of aryl acrylic acids with P(III)-nucleophiles via the Michaelis-Arbuzov rearrangement for the synthesis of β-ketophosphine oxides, β-ketophosphinates, and β-ketophosphonates is reported. The present reaction could be conducted effectively without the use of a ligand and a base. Various kinds of aryl acrylic acids and P(III)-nucleophiles are tolerated in the transformation, generating the desired β-keto-organophosphorus compounds as a valuable class of phosphorus-containing intermediates with good to excellent yields. In addition, the possible mechanism and kinetic studies for the reaction have been explored by step-by-step control experiments and competitive experiments, and the results proved that this transformation may follow second-order chemical kinetics as well as involve a radical process.

Abstract
A RhIII-catalyzed C(sp2)-H N-heteroarylation and esterification cascade of aryl carboxylic acids with N-heteroaromatic boronates and 1,2-dichloroethane in a one-pot synthesis has been disclosed. The strong coordinating ability of ortho- and meta-substituted pyridine boronates and pyrazoles as well as unsubstituted pyrimidine allows them to serve as the coupling partners. This protocol allows late-stage modification of the key precursor of roflumilast and compounds of pharmaceutical interest, which highlights the potential application of this synthetic method.

Abstract
A new organic-inorganic hybrid based on a Nb/W mixed-addendum polyoxometalate with the formula H14[(Co(H2O)3)2(C10H8N2)4(P4W30Nb6O123)]·4(C10H8N2)·8H2O (Co-POM) has been synthesized by the solvothermal method and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), elemental analysis, FTIR spectroscopy, UV-vis absorption spectrum, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Importantly, visible-light-absorption peaks around 525 nm for Co-POM indicated that this material should have potential in visible-light-induced organic reactions. Herein, we disclosed visible-light-promoted phosphorylation of N-aryl-tetrahydroisoquinoline using Co-POM as an efficient heterogeneous photocatalyst. In this procedure, diverse phosphorus reagents are compatible at room temperature and in an O2 atmosphere, giving the corresponding products in good to excellent yields (up to 97%). Simultaneously, this heterogeneous photocatalyst can be recycled up to ten times with a negligible decrease in yield, showing outstanding sustainability and recyclability.

Abstract
Methyl groups widely exist in bioactive molecules, and site-specific methylation has become a valuable strategy for their structural functionalization. Aiming to introduce this smallest alkyl handle, a highly regioselective peri- and ortho-C-H methylation of 1-naphthaldehyde by using a transient ligand strategy has been developed. A series of methyl-substituted naphthalene frameworks have been prepared in moderate to excellent yields. Mechanistic studies demonstrate that peri-methylation is controlled by the higher electronic density of the peri-position of 1-naphthaldehyde as well as the formation of intermediary 5,6-fused bicyclic palladacycles, whereas experimental studies and theoretical calculations inferred that a 5-membered iridacycle at the ortho-position of 1-naphthaldehyde leads to energetically favorable ortho-methylation via an interconversion between the peri-iridacycle and ortho-iridacycle. Importantly, to demonstrate the synthetic utility of this method, we show that this strategy can serve as a platform for the synthesis of multi-substituted naphthalene-based bioactive molecules and natural products.

Abstract
An electrochemical three component cascade phosphorylation reaction of various heteroatoms-containing nucleophiles including carbazoles, indoles, phenols, alcohols, and thiols with Ph2 PH has been established. Electricity is used as the "traceless" oxidant and water and air are utilized as the "green" oxygen source. All kinds of structurally diverse organophosphorus compounds with P(O)-N/P(O)-O/P(O)-S bonds are assembled in moderate to excellent yields (three categories of phosphorylation products, 50 examples, up to 97 % yield). A tentative free radical course is put forward to rationalize the reaction procedure.

Abstract
A simple and efficient protocol for silver-promoted direct C-H phosphonation of 1-naphthylamine derivatives with H-phosphonates was described. This reaction proceeded smoothly for 1-naphthylamine derivatives at the C4 site, providing a facile and efficient route to 4-phosphonated 1-naphthylamine derivatives. This phosphonation could tolerate a diverse type of functional groups at the pyridinyl and naphthyl moieties. Further functionalization of the phosphonated product was also explored at the C2 and C8 sites, such as fluoridation, methylation, methoxylation, and amination. In addition, DFT studies of the reaction intermediate showed that the most electrophilic reactive site is at the C4 site in the naphthyl ring.

Abstract
Naphthalene is certainly not a common arene. In contrast to benzene, the bicyclic feature of naphthalene offers multiple differentiable positions and thus a broad diversity of substitution patterns. Naphthalene is a central building block for the construction of elaborated polycyclic architectures with applications in broad domains such as life and materials sciences. As a result, C–H functionalization strategies specially designed for naphthalene substrates have become essential to install valuable substituents on one or both rings towards polysubstituted naphthalenes. This short review provides a focus on uncommon substitution patterns; however, classical ortho C–H activation is not covered.1 Introduction2 C–H Functionalization Using a Directing Group Located at Position 12.1 Functionalization on the Ring Bearing the DG: 1,3-Substitution Pattern2.2 Functionalization on the Ring Bearing the DG: 1,4-Substitution Pattern2.3 Functionalization on the Neighboring Ring: 1,6-, 1,7- and 1,8-Substitution Patterns3 C–H Functionalization Using a Directing Group Located at Position 23.1 Functionalization on the Ring Bearing the DG: 2,4- and 2,1-Substitution Patterns3.2 Miscellaneous Substitution Patterns4 Bis C–H Functionalization4.1 Symmetrical Bisfunctionalization: 1,2,8-Substitution Pattern4.2 Symmetrical Bisfunctionalization: 2,3,1-Substitution Pattern4.2 Unsymmetrical Bisfunctionalization: 2,3,1-Substitution Pattern4.3 Symmetrical Bisfunctionalization: 2,4,8-Substitution Pattern5 Conclusion and Outlook

Abstract
We report a direct and green electrochemical oxidative cross-dehydrogenative coupling reaction of N-heterocycles with hydrogen phosphoryl compounds under external oxidant-free conditions. Various phosphorylation products of substituted carbazoles and indoles are assembled in modest to excellent yields. A hydrogen release process is preliminarily demonstrated and H2 is the sole byproduct. An imidazolium based ionic liquid is selected as the optimal electrolyte.

Abstract
The introduction of phosphorus functional groups into the skeleton of thioflavones is an attractive task and of great significance. Herein, a metal-free visible-light-induced radical cascade cyclization was developed for the preparation of 2-phosphorylated thioflavones from methylthiolated alkynones and phosphine oxides. In water as a green reaction medium, a large number of such 2-phosphorylated thioflavones were prepared, catalyzed by 4CzIPN [1,2,3,5-tetrakis(carbazol-9-yl)-4,6-dicyanobenzene] under visible-light irradiation. These reactions could be performed at ambient temperature and feature simple operation, wide reaction scope, and recyclability of aqueous media.

Abstract
A novel and practical fluoroalkyl radical-initiated cascade reaction was developed to access diverse 2-fluoroalkylbenzothiazoles by reacting various fluoroalkyl radical sources, including perfluoroalkyl iodide (IC nF2 n+1, n = 3-8, 10), ICF(CF3)2, ICF2COOEt, ICF2CF2Cl, or ICF2CF2Br, tetramethylethane-1,2-diamine (TMEDA), and 2-isocyanoaryl thioethers in tetrahydrofuran under nitrogen atmosphere and blue-light irradiation conditions. Furthermore, this one-pot protocol could well be expanded to access various 2-fluoroalkylbenzoselenazoles starting from (2-isocyanophenyl)(methyl)selane, perfluoroalkyl iodides (IC nF2 n+1, n = 3-8) or ICF2COOEt and TMEDA.
