Abstract
A visible light-mediated synthesis of substituted phenanthridines and isoquinolines from ortho-substituted aryl isocyanides and tricarbonyl compounds is unveiled via the radical addition cascade cyclization (RACC) strategy. This acid/base-free method involves an oxidant (a persulphate salt) and a Ru-photocatalyst. This protocol avoids the use of halogenated compounds as pre-functionalized carbonyl precursors. The products can be easily post-modified to other important small molecules. The functional group tolerance of the reaction and the yields of the products are good without any scalability issues. The mechanistic investigation suggested the presence of a radical pathway during the reaction.

Abstract
In this study, a novel approach for the tertiary α-alkylation of ketones using alkanes with electron-deficient C─H bonds is presented, employing a synergistic catalytic system combining inexpensive copper salts with aminocatalysis. This methodology addresses the limitations of traditional alkylation methods, such as the need for strong metallic bases, regioselectivity issues, and the risk of over alkylation, by providing a high reactivity and chemoselectivity without the necessity for pre-functionalized substrates. The dual catalytic strategy enables the direct functionalization of C(sp3)─H bonds, demonstrating remarkable selectivity in the presence of conventional C(sp3)─H bonds that are adjacent to heteroatoms or π systems, which are typically susceptible to single-electron transfer processes. The findings contribute to the advancement of alkylation techniques, offering a practical and efficient route for the construction of C(sp3)─C(sp3) bonds, and paving the way for further developments in the synthesis of complex organic molecules.

Abstract
A facile and versatile method for generating radicals from Csp3-H bonds under metal-free and organic-peroxide-free conditions was developed. By combining safe persulfate and low-toxic quaternary ammonium salt, a wide variety of Csp3-H compounds including ethers, (hetero)aromatic/aliphatic ketones, alkylbenzenes, alkylheterocycles, cycloalkanes, and haloalkanes were selectively activated to generate the corresponding C-centered radicals, which could be further captured by N-arylacrylamides to deliver the valuable functionalized oxindoles. Good functional group tolerance was demonstrated. The useful polycarbonyl compound and esters were also modified with the strategy. Moreover, the combination can also be applied to the practical coupling between simple haloalkanes and N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI).

Abstract
As a rule, reactive free radicals used in organic synthesis are too labile to be isolated, whereas persistent radicals are inert and find limited synthetic application. In the present study, the unusually stable diacetyliminoxyl radical was presented as a "golden mean" between transient and stable unreactive radicals. It was successfully employed as a reagent for oxidative C-O coupling with β-dicarbonyl compounds. Using this model radical the catalytic activity of acids, bases and transition metal ions in free-radical coupling was revealed.

Abstract
Described herein is a distinctive approach to branched 1,3-dienes through oxidative coupling of two nucleophilic substrates, β-allenyl silanes, and hydrocarbons appending latent functionality by copper catalysis. Notably, C(sp3)-H dienylation proceeded in a regiospecific manner, even in the presence of competitive C-H bonds that are capable of occurring hydrogen atom transfer process, such as those located at benzylic and other tertiary sites, or adjacent to an oxygen atom. Control experiments support the intermediacy of functionalized alkyl radicals.

Abstract
A facile, scalable synthesis of previously inaccessible trifluoromethyl and perfluoroalkyl triazoles is disclosed. Mediated by copper, this catalytic protocol enables access to 4-perfluoroalkyl triazoles from commodity chemicals. A catalytic Cu(II) system wherein copper serves two roles (generation of N-tosyl-2-vinyldiazenes and N-N bond formation) allows for rapid assembly of 5-carboxyl-4-perfluoroalkyl-triazoles from N-tosylhydrazide and perfluoroalkyl acetoacetates. Ethyl 4,4,4-trifluoro-3-(2-tosylhydrazineylidene)butanoate, a previously unknown air and bench stable reagent for access to CF3-triazoles, was developed to enable this chemistry. This led to the identification of a series of crystalline hydrazone reagents that could be used as templates to construct an array of triazoles. Hydrolysis and decarboxylation parlay this approach into a means to access 5-H-4-CF3-triazoles. The approach exhibits high functional group tolerance and can be executed on a multigram scale.

Abstract
Direct oxidative C(sp)-H/C(sp3 )-H cross-coupling offers an ideal and environmentally benign protocol for C(sp)-C(sp3 ) bond formations. As such, reactivity and site-selectivity with respect to C(sp3 )-H bond cleavage have remained a persistent challenge. Herein is reported a simple method for iron-catalyzed/silver-mediated tertiary alkylation of terminal alkynes with readily available and versatile 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds. The reaction is suitable for an array of substrates and proceeds in a highly selective manner even employing alkanes containing other tertiary, benzylic, and C(sp3 )-H bonds alpha to heteroatoms. Elaboration of the products enables the synthesis of a series of versatile building blocks. Control experiments implicate the in situ generation of a tertiary carbon-centered radical species.

Abstract
A new [4+1]-annulation of in situ generated heterocyclic azine-aldimines with β-keto sulfoxonium ylides has been developed. The reaction constructs N-fused imidazole rings. In the reaction, the ylides play a dual-functional role of a nucleophilic 1,1-dipolar one-carbon synthon and a source of an internal oxidant, dimethyl sulfoxide, that promotes in situ dehydrogenation to product scaffolds. The method enables access to imidazo-pyridine, pyrazine, and pyrimidine heteroaromatics.

Abstract
A debrominative oxygenation protocol has been developed for the conversion of α-bromo-α,α-dialkyl-substituted carbonyl compounds to their corresponding α-hydroxy analogues. For example, stirring a solution of α-bromoisobutyrophenone and 2-aryl-1,3-dimethylbenzimidazoline (BIH-Ar) at room temperature under an air atmosphere leads to the efficient formation of α-hydroperoxyisobutyrophenone, which can be converted to α-hydroxyisobutyrophenone using Me2S reduction. In contrast, reaction of α-bromoacetophenone under the same conditions produces the α-hydrogenated product acetophenone. α-Keto-alkyl and benzimidazolyl radicals (BI•-Ar), generated via dissociative electron transfer from BIH-Ar to α-bromoketone substrates, serve as key intermediates in the oxidation and reduction processes. The dramatic switch from hydrogenation to oxygenation is attributed to a steric effect of α-alkyl substituents, which causes hydrogen atom abstraction from sterically crowded BIH-Ar to α-keto-alkyl radicals to be slow and enable preferential reaction with molecular oxygen. Generation of the α-keto-alkyl radical and BI•-Ar intermediates in these process and their sterically governed hydrogen atom transfer reactions are supported by results arising from DFT calculations. Moreover, an electron spin resonance study showed that visible light irradiation of phenyl benzimidazoline (BIH-Ph) in the presence of molecular oxygen produces the benzimidazolyl radical (BI•-Ph). The addition of thiophenol into the reaction of α-bromoisobutyrophenone and BIH-Ph predominantly produced α-phenylthiolated isobutyrophenone even if a high concentration of molecular oxygen exists. Furthermore, the developed protocol was applied to other α-bromo-α,α-dialkylated carbonyl compounds.
