Abstract
A simple and efficient method for the synthesis of diarylmethyl-functionalized anilines through the hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP)-mediated regioselective 1,6-hydroarylation reaction of para-quinone methides (p-QMs) with anilines under catalyst- and additive-free conditions is reported. Various kinds of p-QMs and amines (e. g. primary, secondary and tertiary amines) are well tolerated in this transformation without the pre-protection of amino group, and the corresponding products could be generated with good to excellent yields and satisfactory regioselectivity under the optimized reaction conditions. In addition to adaptable amine compounds, indoles and their derivatives are also compatible with this reaction system. This transformation can be easily extended to a gram scale-synthesis level to synthesize the target product. Furthermore, it is worth noting that some complex small aniline molecules with biological activity can be selectively modified using this method. The possible reaction mechanism is proposed through the step-by-step control experiments and DFT calculations, showing that the key process for achieving the regioselective 1,6-hydroarylation of p-QMs is the hydrogen bonding effect of HFIP to substrates.

Abstract
Hydroarylation of alkenes is one of the most straightforward and atom-economical strategy for the construction of multi-aryl-substituted alkanes, but systematic studies have been limited to transition metal catalysis. Here we report a hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP)-promoted hydroarylation of alkenes with indoles without the presence of transition metal catalysts or any additive. HFIP was the only reagent used in this work, and could be easily removed via evaporation, and recovered via distillation in industry settings. This reaction was shown to provide an efficient, clean and operationally simple procedure with a remarkable substrate scope and versatile transformations, delivering a variety of multi-aryl alkanes incorporating the indole motif. In preliminary studies, several of these products showed biologically activity against cells from an array of human cancer cell lines. A mechanistic study was also carried out and suggested that the quinone methide might be the key intermediate. And in contrast to the conclusions of a previous report, the current work suggested that protonation by HFIP might not be the rate-determining step.

Abstract
The solvent effects in Friedel-Crafts cycloalkylation of epoxides and Cope rearrangement of aldimines were investigated by using ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. Explicit molecular treatments were applied for both reactants and solvents. The reaction mechanisms were elucidated via free energy calculations based on metadynamics simulations. The results reveal that both reactions proceed in a concerted fashion. Key solvent-substrate interactions are identified from the structures of transition states with explicit solvent molecules. The remarkable promotion effect of hexafluoroisopropanol solvent is ascribed to the synergistic effect of H-bonding networks and C-H/π interactions with substrates.

Abstract
Herein we report, a rhodium-catalyzed Fujiwara-Moritani-type reaction of unactivated terminal alkenes and benzoic acid derivatives bearing electron donating residues under mild conditions. The acid functionality acts as a traceless directing group delivering products alkenylated in meta-position to the electron donating substituent in contrast to the usually obtained ortho- and para-substitution in Friedel-Crafts-type reactions. Remarkably, the new C-C bond is formed to the C2 of the terminal olefin, in contrast to similar reported transformations. Initially formed mixtures of exo- and endo-double bond isomers can be efficiently isomerized to the more stable endo-products.

Abstract
A highly regioselective synthesis of spiro[benzofuran-2,2'-furan]-3-ones has been explored via Lewis acid-catalyzed [3 + 2] cyclization of iodonium ylides with azadienes. The acidity of the Lewis acid was significantly strengthened with strong hydrogen bond donors, thereby promoting the enolization isomerization of iodonium ylides for the subsequent cycloaddition. This reaction was compatible with a broad range of substrates under the mild reaction conditions, and efficiently delivered spiro-heterocycles with excellent stereoselectivity.

Abstract
This work describes the chemo- and stereoselective benzylic C(sp3)-H alkenylation of tertiary ortho-methyl anilines with internal alkynes using a simple β-diketiminato scandium catalyst. This protocol offers an efficient method for the synthesis of a new family of tertiary ortho-allylanilines in high yields. The resultant alkenylation products facilely underwent further chemical transformation to other valuable anilines. A cationic scandium benzyl species was isolated from a stoichiometric reaction and confirmed to be the catalytic intermediate.

Abstract
The addition of a B-H bond to an unsaturated bond (polarized or unpolarized) is a powerful and atom-economic tool for the synthesis of organoboranes. In recent years, s-block organometallics have appeared as alternative catalysts to transition-metal complexes, which traditionally catalyze the hydroboration of unsaturated bonds. Because of the recent and rapid development in the field of hydroboration of unsaturated bonds catalyzed by alkali (Li, Na, K) and alkaline earth (Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba) metals, we provide a detailed and updated comprehensive review that covers the synthesis, reactivity, and application of s-block metal catalysts in the hydroboration of polarized as well as unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds. Moreover, we describe the main reaction mechanisms, providing valuable insight into the reactivity of the s-block metal catalysts. Finally, we compare these s-block metal complexes with other redox-neutral catalytic systems based on p-block metals including aluminum complexes and f-block metal complexes of lanthanides and early actinides. In this review, we aim to provide a comprehensive, authoritative, and critical assessment of the state of the art within this highly interesting research area.

Abstract
Regioselective C-H alkenylation of N,N-dialkylanilines with ynamides was developed using AgNTf2 as a catalyst. This approach represents a facile hydroarylation of ynamides, allowing for the introduction of an alkenyl group exclusively at the para position of aniline derivatives. As a result, a series of 4-alkenyl N,N-dialkylanilines were synthesized with excellent regioselectivities.

Abstract
The regio- and chemoselective construction of indole bearing an all-carbon center at the C3-position, a versatile bioactive building block, by C(sp2)-C(sp3) formation with olefins has been achieved through utilization of hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) as the protonation reagent and solvent. The catalytic reactions are operationally simple and green compared with previous reports utilizing elaborated olefins and catalysts. This protocol allows for alkylation of a variety of substituted indoles with diverse of styrene type alkenes in excellent yields and with high selectivity. Application of this protocol to the synthesis of drug was pursued and with an improved yield in contrast to previous art. Catalytic kinetics and deuterium-labeling experiments suggest that the rate-determining step involves the protonation of olefin by HFIP to generate carbocation, followed by electrophilic addition to indole derivative.

Abstract
An efficient metal-free strategy for the synthesis of α-substituted homoallylamine derivatives has been developed via a 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-propanol (HFIP)-promoted 2-aza-Cope rearrangement of aldimines, generated in situ by condensation of aldehydes with easily accessible 1,1-diphenylhomoallylamines. This reaction provides rapid access to α-substituted homoallylamines with excellent functional group tolerance and yields. The reaction takes place at room temperature and no chromatographic purification is required for product isolation. The synthetic utility of the current method is further demonstrated by the transformation of the obtained benzophenone ketimines into N-unprotected homoallylamines, an α-amino alcohol and an α-amino amide.

Abstract
9,10-Dihydroacridines are frequently encountered as key scaffolds in OLEDs. However, accessing those compounds from feedstock precursors typically requires multiple steps. Herein, a modular one-pot synthesis of 9,10-dihydroacridine frameworks is achieved through a reaction sequence featuring a selective ortho-C alkenylation of diarylamines with aryl alkynes followed by an intramolecular hydroarylation of the olefin formed as an intermediate. This transformation was accomplished by virtue of the combination of hexafluoroisopropanol and triflimide as a catalyst that triggers the whole process.

Abstract
A Mn(ii)-catalysed ortho-alkenylation of aromatic amines and its application in reproductive diseases were developed. The use of MnCl2 was critical for the ortho-alkenylation of aromatic amines. The general applicability of this procedure was highlighted by the synthesis of 27 vinylanilines, with good regioselectivities. The value of our approach in practical applications was investigated by studying the effects of one of the compounds 3m on 8 week-old adult male rats with azoospermia as a mammalian model. The results show that a small amount of sperm will gradually be produced in the epididymis and testes by treatment of 8 week-old adult male rats with azoospermia with 1 mg kg−13m after two weeks, while treatment with 10 mg kg−13m led to obvious sperm production. Notably, if we increase the dose to 100 mg kg−1, there will be a lot of sperm production in the epididymis and testes after two weeks of treatment. The results of this study will be of great significance in research on drugs for treating azoospermia and oligospermia diseases. A Mn(ii)-catalysed ortho-alkenylation of aromatic amines and its application in reproductive diseases were developed.![]()

Abstract
A magnesium-catalyzed regiodivergent C-O bond cleavage protocol is presented. Readily available magnesium catalysts achieve the selective hydroboration of a wide range of epoxides and oxetanes yielding secondary and tertiary alcohols in excellent yields and regioselectivities. Experimental mechanistic investigations and DFT calculations provide insight into the unexpected regiodivergence and explain the different mechanisms of the C-O bond activation and product formation.

Abstract
Hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) is a solvent with unique properties that has recently gained attention for promoting a wide range of challenging chemical reactions. It was initially believed that HFIP was almost exclusively involved in the stabilization of cationic intermediates, owing to its high polarity and low nucleophilicity. However, in many cases, the mechanism of action of HFIP appears to be more complex. Recent findings reveal that many Lewis and Brønsted acid-catalyzed transformations conducted in HFIP additionally involve cooperation between the catalyst and HFIP hydrogen-bond clusters, akin to Lewis- or Brønsted acid-assisted-Brønsted acid catalysis. This feature article showcases the remarkable versatility of HFIP in Lewis and Brønsted acid-catalyzed reactions, with an emphasis on examples yielding mechanistic insight.
