Abstract
The accumulation of the deoxynivalenol (DON) in the human body poses a significant health risk that is often overlooked, and we urgently need an ultra-sensitive rapid detection platform. Due to the porosity of NH2-MIL-101@MoS2, an increased loading of toluidine blue (TB) serves to create a signal reference. Cobalt@carbon (CoC) derived from metal organic frameworks was combined with NH2-MIL-101(NH2-MIL-101@CoC) to form an enzyme-free Nanoprobe (Apt-pro) with significant catalytic properties. The ratio (IBQ /ITB) was changed by varying the electrochemical signal of benzoquinone (BQ) (IBQ) and the amount of TB deposition (ITB). This aptasensor was successfully applied to detect DON in malt and peach seed, which exhibited a great linear range from 1 fg/mL to 10 ng/mL and low detection limit of 0.31 fg/mL for DON.

Abstract
Artificial photosynthesis stands out as a highly effective method for harnessing sunlight to produce clean and renewable energy. The light-absorbing properties, chemical stability, and high redox activity of Ce-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) make them attractive materials for visible-light-driven water splitting. Currently, Ce-based MOFs remain a relatively underexplored system for photocatalytic water oxidation in acidic media. In this study, we synthesized a Ce-MOF with different linkers (1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid, tetrafluoroterephthalic acid, 2-nitroterephthalic acid, 2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxylic acid, and 4,4'-biphenyldicarboxylic acid), which exhibit light-absorbing capability. Ce-based MOFs doped with [Ru(bpy)(dcbpy)(H2O)2]2+ (MOF-1 and MOF-2) water oxidation catalyst showed an enhanced photoelectrocatalytic current of ∼10-4 A·cm-2 at pH = 1, which is comparable with the [Ru(bpy)(dcbpy)(H2O)2]2+-doped MIL-126 Fe-based MOF. We also demonstrated the long-term durability of Ru-doped Ce-MOFs for photoelectrocatalytic water oxidation under acidic conditions. The as-synthesized MOFs were analyzed with powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and electric conductivity measurements. This study contributes to the development of cost-effective materials for sustainable photocatalytic water splitting processes.

Abstract
In this work, a series of urchin-like Ce(HCOO)3 nanoclusters were synthesized via a facile and scalable microwave-assisted method by varying the irradiation time, and the structure-property relationship was investigated. The optimization of the reaction time was performed based on structural characterizations and electrochemical performances, and the Ce(HCOO)3-210 s sample shows a specific capacitance as high as 132 F g-1 at a current density of 1 A g-1. This is due to the optimal mesoporous hierarchical structure and crystallinity that are beneficial to its conductivity, offering abundant Ce3+/Ce4+ active sites and facilitating the transportation of electrolyte ions. Moreover, an asymmetric supercapacitor based on Ce(HCOO)3//AC was fabricated, which delivers a maximum energy density of 14.78 Wh kg-1 and a considerably high power density of 15,168 W kg-1. After 10,000 continuous charge-discharge cycles at 3 A g-1, the ASC device retains 81.3% of its initial specific capacitance. The excellent comprehensive electrochemical performance of this urchin-like Ce(HCOO)3 offers significant promise for practical supercapacitor applications.

Abstract
An electrode material with high performance, long durability, and low cost for supercapacitors has long been desired in academia and industry. Among all the factors that affect the electrochemical performance and cycling stability of electrode materials, the morphology and intrinsic structure characteristics are the most important. In this study, a novel 3D flower-like Ce(COOH)3 electrode material was designed by taking advantage of the Ce3+ and -COOH groups and fabricated by a one-pot microwave-assisted method. The morphology and structure characteristics of the sample were examined by SEM, EDS, TEM, XRD, FT-IR, XPS, N2 adsorption/desorption techniques, and the electrochemical behaviors were investigated in a three-electrode configuration. The Ce(COOH)3 electrode presents an excellent specific capacitance of 140 F g-1 at 1 A g-1, higher than many other previously reported Ce-based electrodes. In addition, it delivers high rate capability that retains 60% of its initial capacitance when the current density is magnified 20 times. Dramatically, the Ce(COOH)3 electrode exhibits an ultra-high cycling stability with capacitance retention of 107.9% after 60,000 cycles, which is the highest durability among reported Ce-organic compound electrodes to the best of our knowledge. The excellent electrochemical performance is ascribed to its intrinsic crystal structure and unique morphology. This work indicates that the 3D flower-like Ce(COOH)3 has significant potential for supercapacitor applications and the facile and scalable synthesis strategy can be extended to produce other metal-organic composite electrodes.

Abstract
Functional materials are considered one of the most critical factors in constructing high-performance electrochemical aptasensors in the sensing field. In this work, the microporous Zr-MOF UiO-66 (UiO = Universitetet i Oslo) is selected for assembly with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) to prepare a CNT@UiO-66 composite. The as-synthesized CNT@UiO-66 composite has a high surface area, excellent stability, good electrical conductivity, and abundant Zr(IV) sites, conferring it great potential for application in fabricating high-performance electrochemical aptasensors. It is gratifying that this electrochemical impedimetric aptasensor can detect trace oxytetracycline (OTC) from 0.01 to 0.7 pg mL-1 with a low limit of detection (LOD) of 1.48 fg mL-1. Meanwhile, this fabricated sensor based on CNT@UiO-66 has fine stability, excellent selectivity, and available reproducibility. In particular, the CNT@UiO-66-based aptasensor can quantitatively detect the OTC concentration in real samples.

Abstract
Herein, [Nd(NO3)3(H2pzdca)] n (MA-1) was synthesized from a reaction of 2,3-pyrazinedicarboxylic acid [H2Pzdca] as an organic linker with salt of Nd(III) under solvothermal conditions. The detailed structural analysis for crystals was performed utilizing single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD). After that, the neodymium-based coordination polymer (MA-1) crystal was directly generated upon the surface of functionalized carbon nanotubes (F-CNTs) through bonds or affinity between F-CNTs and MA-1 via the solvothermal approach. Meanwhile, the existence of F-CNTs does not affect the production of MA-1 crystals. FT-IR, PXRD, SEM, TEM, and SCXRD studies were used to characterize the crystalline material, MA-1 and MA-1@CNT. To investigate the MA-1@CNT sensing properties, Pb(II), As(III), Cr(VI), and nitrobenzene (NB) were utilized as analytes. It is worth mentioning that MA-1@CNT developed as a susceptible sensor exhibits a fluorescence "turn-on" response for Pb(II) and As(III) ions, while a fluorescence "turn-off" response in the case of Cr(VI) and NB with significantly low limit of detection (LOD) values of 15.9 for Pb(II), 16.0 for As(III), 76.9 for Cr(VI), and 21.1 nM for NB, which are comparable with the lowest LOD available in the literature. Furthermore, MA-1@CNT could be conveniently regenerated and reused for at least three cycles by simply filtering and washing with water several times. The sensing mechanism is ascribed to the inner filter effect owing to the overlap between the emission and/or excitation bands of MA-1@CNT with the absorption bands of Cr(VI) and NB. In contrast, the fluorescence enhancement in the case of Pb(II) and As(III) could be correlated to the chelation-enhanced fluorescence phenomenon. These results indicate that MA-1@CNT is an ideal sensor for Pb(II), As(III), Cr(VI), and NB recognition.

Carbon-Encased Mixed-Metal Selenide Rooted with Carbon Nanotubes for High-Performance Hybrid Supercapacitors. Molecules 2022; 27:molecules27217507. Abstract
Transition metal-based compounds with high theoretical capacitance and low cost represent one class of promising electrode materials for high-performance supercapacitors. However, their low intrinsic electrical conductivity impedes their capacitive effect and further limits their practical application. Rational regulation of their composition and structure is, therefore, necessary to achieve a high electrode performance. Herein, a well-designed carbon-encased mixed-metal selenide rooted with carbon nanotubes (Ni-Co-Se@C-CNT) was derived from nickel–cobalt bimetallic organic frameworks. Due to the unique porous structure, the synergistic effect of bimetal selenides and the in situ growth of carbon nanotubes, the composite exhibits good electrical conductivity, high structural stability and abundant redox active sites. Benefitting from these merits, the Ni-Co-Se@C-CNT exhibited a high specific capacity of 554.1 C g−1 (1108.2 F g−1) at 1 A g−1 and a superior cycling performance, i.e., 96.4% of the initial capacity was retained after 5000 cycles at 10 A g−1. Furthermore, a hybrid supercapacitor assembled with Ni-Co-Se@C-CNT cathode and activated carbon (AC) anode shows a superior energy density of 38.2 Wh kg−1 at 1602.1 W kg−1.

Abstract
Electrochemical regeneration of the reduced form of the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) cofactor catalyzed by immobilized [Rh(Cp*)(bpy)Cl]+ is a promising approach for the enzymatic synthesis of many valuable chemicals with NAD-dependent dehydrogenases. However, rational control of the efficiency is often limited by the irregular structure of the electrode/electrolyte interface and the accessibility of the molecular catalyst. Here, we propose an electrochemical system for NADH cofactor regeneration, based on highly ordered three- dimensional (3D) metal-organic framework (NU-1000) films. [Rh(Cp*)(bpy)Cl]+ is incorporated at the zirconium nodes of NU-1000 via solvent-assisted ligand incorporation (SALI), leading to a diffusion-controlled behavior, associated with an electron hopping mechanism. Varying the ratio of redox-active [Rh(Cp*)(bpy)Cl]+ and inactive postgrafting agents enables the elaboration of functional electrodes with tunable electrocatalytic activity for NADH regeneration. The exceptionally high faradic efficiency of 97%, associated with a very high turnover frequency (TOF) of ∼1400 h-1 for NADH regeneration, and the total turnover number (TTN) of over 20000 for the enzymatic conversion from pyruvate to l-lactate, when coupled with l-lactate dehydrogenases (LDH) as a model reaction, open up promising perspectives for employing these electrodes in various alternative bioelectrosynthesis approaches.

Abstract
Electrochemical conversion of acrylonitrile (AN) to produce adiponitrile (ADN), the raw material for the production of Nylon 66, has become a crucial process owing to the increasing market demand of Nylon 66. Although the metallic Pb or Cd electrodes are commonly used for this reaction, the use of electrocatalysts or electrodes modified with catalysts has been barely investigated. In this study, nanoporous and electrically conductive metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived materials composed of Pb, PbO, and carbon are synthesized by carbonizing a Pb-based MOF through thermal treatments, and these MOF-derived materials are served as electrocatalysts for the electrosynthesis of ADN. The crystallinity, morphology, elemental composition, porosity, electrical conductivity, and electrochemically active surface area of each MOF-derived material are investigated. Mass-transport-corrected Tafel analysis is used to probe the enhanced kinetics for the electrochemical reduction of AN occurring at the electrode modified with the MOF-derived material. Electrolytic experiments at various applied potentials are conducted to quantify the production rate and Faradaic efficiency toward ADN, and the result shows that the MOF-derived materials can act as electrocatalysts to initiate the electrochemical reduction of AN to produce ADN at a reduced overpotential. The optimal MOF-derived electrocatalyst can achieve a Faradaic efficiency of 67% toward ADN at an applied potential of -0.85 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode─a much lower overpotential compared to that typically required for this reaction without the use of catalysts. Findings here shed light on the design and development of advanced electrocatalysts to boost the performances for the electrosynthesis of ADN.

Abstract
Supercapacitors (SCs) can effectively alleviate problems such as energy shortage and serious greenhouse effect. The properties of electrode materials directly affect the performance of SCs. Rare earth (RE) is known as "modern industrial vitamins", and their functional materials have been listed as key strategic materials. In the past few years, the number of scientific reports on RE-based nanomaterials for SCs has increased rapidly, confirming that adding RE elements or compounds to the host electrode materials with various nanostructured morphologies can greatly enhance their electrochemical performance. Although RE-based nanomaterials have made rapid progress in SCs, there are very few works providing a comprehensive survey of this field. In view of this, a comprehensive overview of RE-based nanomaterials for SCs is provided here, including the preparation methods, nanostructure engineering, compounds, and composites, along with their capacitance performances. The structure-activity relationships are discussed and highlighted. Meanwhile, the future challenges and perspectives are also pointed out. This Review can not only provide guidance for the further development of SCs but also arouse great interest in RE-based nanomaterials in other research fields such as electrocatalysis, photovoltaic cells, and lithium batteries.

Abstract
The rational design and preparation of available fullerene@metal-organic matrix hybrid materials are of profound significance in electrochemical biosensing applications due to their unique photoelectric properties. In this work, C60@UiO-66-NH2 nanocomposites serve as greatly promising materials to modify electrodes and fix aptamers, resulting in a remarkable electrochemical aptasensor for impedimetric sensing of tobramycin (TOB). Nanoscale composites have preferable electroactivity and small particle size with more exposed functional sites, such as Zr(IV) and -NH2, to immobilize aptamers for enhanced detection performance. As we know, most of the electrochemical impedance aptasensors require a long time to complete the detection process, but this prepared biosensor shows the rapid quantitative identification of target TOB within 4 min. This work expands the synthesis of functional fullerene@metal-organic matrix hybrid materials in electrochemical biosensing applications.

Abstract
In this study, proton-conducting behaviors of a cerium-based metal-organic framework (MOF), Ce-MOF-808, its zirconium-based isostructural MOF, and bimetallic MOFs with various Zr-to-Ce ratios are investigated. The significantly increased proton conductivity (σ) and decreased activation energy (Ea) are obtained by substituting Zr with Ce in the nodes of MOF-808. Ce-MOF-808 achieves a σ of 4.4 × 10-3 S/cm at 25 °C under 99% relative humidity and an Ea of 0.14 eV; this value is among the lowest-reported Ea of proton-conductive MOFs. Density functional theory calculations are utilized to probe the proton affinities of these MOFs. As the first study reporting the proton conduction in cerium-based MOFs, the finding here suggests that cerium-based MOFs should be a better platform for the design of proton conductors compared to the commonly reported zirconium-based MOFs in future studies on energy-related applications.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted great attention for their applications in chemical sensors mainly due to their high porosity resulting in high density of spatially accessible active sites, which can interact with the aimed analyte. Among various MOFs, frameworks constructed from group 4 metal-based (e.g., zirconium, titanium, hafnium, and cerium) MOFs, have become especially of interest for the sensors requiring the operations in aqueous media owing to their remarkable chemical stability in water. Research efforts have been made to utilize these group 4 metal-based MOFs in chemosensors such as luminescent sensors, colorimetric sensors, electrochemical sensors, and resistive sensors for a range of analytes since 2013. Though several studies in this subfield have been published especially over the past 3–5 years, some challenges and concerns are still there and sometimes they might be overlooked. In this review, we aim to highlight the recent progress in the use of group 4 metal-based MOFs in chemical sensors, and focus on the challenges, potential concerns, and opportunities in future studies regarding the developments of such chemically robust MOFs for sensing applications.

Abstract
Recently, much attention has been paid to two-dimensional MOF nanosheets (MONs) due to their widespread application in many specific areas. In this work, a simple and efficient congenerous-exfoliation strategy was developed to prepare vast and uniform few-layered Ni2+@Ce-MOF (Ce-MOF: {[Ce(HPIA)(PIA)(H2O)2]·H2O}n) nanosheets with a thickness of ca. 10 nm. In the exfoliation process, the synergistic action of Ni2+ and methanol solvents under ultrasonication plays a major role in restraining the interactions between the layers. Importantly, supercapacitor applications indicate that the exfoliated Ni2+@Ce-MOF nanosheet shows a remarkable improvement in the specific capacitance (921.05%) in comparison with that of the bulk Ce-MOF sample before modification.
