Abstract
The improper utilization of nitrobenzene (NB) and ornidazole (ORN) has resulted in irreversible effects on the environment. By combining experimental investigation, density functional theory (DFT) calculations, and machine learning, an effective green strategy for detecting NB and ORN in aqueous solutions can be developed. In this study, a one-dimensional Cd-based coordination polymer (Cd-HCIA-3) was designed and synthesized using 5-((4-carboxybenzyl)oxy)isophthalic acid and rigid 2,2'-bipyridine under solvothermal reaction conditions. Cd-HCIA-3 exhibits excellent fluorescence properties and stability in aqueous solutions. DFT calculations were performed to predict the fluorescence sensing performance of Cd-HCIA-3, revealing that photoinduced electron transfer is the key mechanism for inducing fluorescence quenching in the presence of NB and ORN, with weak molecular interactions promoting electron transfer. Fluorescence sensing experiments were conducted to verify the DFT results, showing that Cd-HCIA-3 can selectively detect NB and ORN in aqueous solutions with limits of detection of 7.22 × 10-8 and 1.31 × 10-7 mol/L, respectively. This study's findings provide valuable insights into the design and synthesis of fluorescent coordination polymers for target analytes.

Abstract
In this work, a hybrid nanocomposite material (PUC2@rGO) was prepared by integrating our previously developed Zn-MOF (PUC2) with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) through the wet impregnation method. The characterization of PUC2@rGO was performed using various analytical techniques, including FTIR, PXRD, FE-SEM, HR-TEM, XPS, zeta potential, and time-resolved FL spectroscopy. Our investigation primarily focused on assessing the composite's capability to detect water pollutants. Notably, PUC2@rGO demonstrated remarkable selectivity and sensitivity towards Pb2+ and Cu2+ ions via fluorescence quenching, exhibiting low detection limits and high quenching constant values. Spectroscopic analysis revealed that electron transfer from PUC2@rGO (donor) to the metal ions (acceptor) resulted in the observed quenching effect induced by Pb2+ and Cu2+ ions. Time-resolved fluorescence studies of PUC2@rGO before and after adding Pb2+ and Cu2+ ions confirmed dynamic quenching, further affirming strong interactions between PUC2@rGO and the targeted metal ions. These findings highlight PUC2@rGO's potential for efficiently detecting heavy metal pollutants in water.

Abstract
A series of new Co/N-doped porous carbon composites, denoted as Co/CZIF-9 and Co/CZIF-12, containing Co nanoparticles encapsulated in nitrogen-doped carbon matrices were prepared by annealing Co-based zeolite imidazolate framework materials, ZIF-9 and ZIF-12, as the efficient precursors at different temperatures. The structural features of the as-synthesized composites at 900 °C were determined by analytical methods with high reliability. Consequently, Co/CZIF-12_900 exhibits a high first specific discharge capacity of 971.0 mA h g-1 at a current density of 0.1 A g-1. Notably, the specific discharge/charge capacity of Co/CZIF-12_900 reaches about 508.8 mA h g-1 at 0.1 A g-1 after 100 cycles. The outstanding behaviors can be accounted for by the efficient incorporation of hetero-nitrogen doping and the Co nanoparticles within the layered structure of porous carbon, enhancing electrical conductivity and structural stability and limiting volume change during the intercalation/deintercalation of Li+ ions. These findings suggest that the Co/CZIF-12_900 material could be employed as a promising anode electrode for energy storage products.

Abstract
We present a simple approach for producing photoluminescent MoS2 quantum dots (QDs) using commercial MoS2 powder as a precursor along with NaOH and isopropanol. The synthesis method is particularly easy and environmentally friendly. The successful intercalation of Na+ ions into MoS2 layers and subsequent oxidative cutting reaction leads to the formation of luminescent MoS2 QDs. The present work, for the first time, shows the formation of MoS2 QDs without any additional energy source. The as-synthesized MoS2 QDs were characterized using microscopy and spectroscopy. The QDs have a few layer thicknesses and a narrow size distribution with an average diameter of ∼3.8 nm. Nitrobenzene (NB), an industrial chemical, is both toxic to human health and dangerously explosive. The present MoS2 QDs can be used as an effective photoluminescent probe, and a new turn-off sensor for NB detection. The selective quenching was operated via multiple mechanisms; electron transfer between the nitro group and MoS2 QDs through dynamic quenching and the primary inner filter effect (IFE). The quenching has a linear relationship with NB concentrations from 0.5 μM to 11 μM, with a calculated detection limit of 50 nM.

Abstract
A tetraimidazole-decorating tetraphenylpyrazine has been designed and utilized for the fabrication of a novel metal-organic framework (MOF), denoted as {Mn(Tipp)(A)2}n·2H2O (TippMn, where Tipp = 2,3,5,6-tetrakis[4-[(1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl]phenyl]pyrazine and A = deprotonation of 1,4-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid), through hydrothermal synthesis. Structural analysis reveals that TippMn possesses a 2-fold-interpenetrated 4,8-connected three-dimensional (3D) network with an unprecedented {416·612}{44·62} topology. Fluorescent spectral investigations indicate that TippMn shows discriminative fluorescence when treated by Cr3+ and Cu2+, giving an INHIBIT logical gate performance. Meanwhile, TippMn can be further used as a sensor for MnO4- and 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) by fluorescence quenching. Notably, the sensing processes toward Cu2+, Cr3+, MnO4-, and TNP are labeled with high selectivity and sensitivity, quick response, and good recyclability. It is anticipated that this MOF-based versatile sensor could shed light on the exploration of MOFs for fluorescent sensors, optical switches, etc.

Abstract
Four fluorescent zinc(ii) metal–organic frameworks, namely [Zn(HCIA)(4,4′-bipy)] (1), [Zn2(CIA)(OH)(1,4-bibz)1.5]·H2O (2), [Zn(CIA)(OH) (4,4′-bbpy)] (3), and [Zn2(HCIA) (4,4′-bimp)]·H2O (4), were prepared hydrothermally with a flexible triangular ligand (H3CIA) and a series of linear N-donor ligands (H3CIA = 5-(2-carboxybenzyloxy) isophthalic acid, 4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipydine, 1,4-bibz = 1,4-bis(1-imidazoly)benzene; 4,4′-bbpy = 4,4′-bis (imidazolyl) biphenyl; 4,4′-bimp = 4,4′-bis (imidazole-1-ylethyl) biphenyl). Structural analyses revealed that complex 1 exhibited a 2D brick-like network structure based on the basic bimetallic ring, 2 was also a 2D interspersed structure from the 1D tubular structure, compound 3 possessed a 2D (4,4) network with 4,4′-bbpy occupying the holes, and complex 4 displayed a 2D network from the 1D ladder-like chain. The thermal stabilities and fluorescent properties of these complexes were investigated in the solid state. The fluorescent sensing experiments revealed that all Zn-MOFs could highly sensitively detect nitrobenzene in aqueous solution, which indicated that these materials can be used as fluorescent probes for the detection of nitrobenzene. Four fluorescent 2D Zn-MOFs based on a flexible triangular ligand and linear N-donor ligands are hydrothermally prepared and used to detect nitrobenzene in aqueous solution with high sensitivity, demonstrating their potential as fluorescent sensors.![]()

Abstract
Two novel 3D fluorescent metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), [Cd(L)(bbibp)]n (1) and [Cd(L)(bbibp)0.5]n (2), where H2L = 4,4'-(4,4'-bipyridine-2,6-diyl)dibenzoic acid and bbibp = 4,4'-bis(benzoimidaz-1-yl)biphenyl, were acquired through a conventional method and characterized via IR spectra, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), scanning electron microscopy, N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The crystal framework of Cd-MOF 1 remained stable in the range of pH = 1.0-12.0. Interestingly, the emission peak of 1 showed a red shift and exhibited a fluorescence turn-on effect in an acidic environment. X-ray diffraction measurement revealed that the crystal structure of 1 remained unchanged after immersion in a pH = 1.0 solution. In addition, Cd-MOFs 1 and 2 displayed fluorescent quenching to l-glutamic acid with high sensitivity and selectivity. Meanwhile, 1 showed high selectivity in recognizing Fe3+ under acidic conditions, which made 1 capable of detecting Fe3+ in acidic industrial wastewater. Finally, the fluorescent sensing mechanism was carefully studied by PXRD, transient fluorescence lifetime, XPS, and UV spectroscopy.

Abstract
Easily producible sensors for harmful industrial waste compounds are of significant interest for both human health and the environment. Three novel coordination polymers, [Ag(μ-aca)(μ4-bztpy)1/2] (1), [Ag(μ-bza)(μ-bpa)] (2), and [Ag2(μ-aca)2(μ-bpa)2]·EtOH·2H2O (3), were assembled in this study by reactions using Ag+ as a node with the pyridyl ligand 1,2,4,5-tetrakis(4-pyridyl)benzene (bztpy) or 9,10-bis(4-pyridyl)anthracene (bpa) and an auxiliary chelating carboxylic ligand. Single-crystal X-ray structural analyses revealed that compound 1 has a 3D framework consisting of 1D [Ag(aca)]∞ chains and bztpy linkers, while 2 and 3 have 2D layered structures consisting of binuclear Ag-carboxylate units and bpa linkers, respectively. Topological studies revealed that 1 has a bbf topology, while 2 and 3 are 2D [4,4] rhombic grids. The compounds were further characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, IR, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and a luminescence study. The solids of 1-3 exhibited intense photoluminescent emission with λemmax at ca. 493, 472, and 500 nm, respectively. Remarkably, due to their excellent framework stability, 1 and 2 can act as multiresponsive luminescent sensors for nitrobenzene, Fe3+, and Cr2O72- with a high selectivity and sensitivity ascribed to their quenching effect.

Abstract
Design, synthesis, and applications of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are among the most salient fields of research in modern inorganic and materials chemistry. As the structure and physical properties of MOFs are mostly dependent on the organic linkers or ligands, the choice of ligand system is of utmost importance in the design of MOFs. One such crucial organic linker/ligand is terpyridine (tpy), which can adopt various coordination modes to generate an enormous number of metal-organic frameworks. These frameworks generally carry physicochemical characteristics induced by the π-electron-rich (basically N-electron-rich moiety) terpyridines. In this minireview, the construction of 3D MOFs associated with symmetrical terpyridines is discussed. These ligands can be easily derivatized at the lateral phenyl (4'-phenyl) position and incorporate additional organic functionalities. These functionalities lead to some different binding modes and form higher dimensional (3D) frameworks. Therefore, these 3D MOFs can carry multiple features along with the characteristics of terpyridines. Some properties of these MOFs, like photophysical, chemical selectivity, photocatalytic degradation, proton conductivity, and magnetism, etc. have also been discussed and correlated with their frameworks.

Abstract
Through a dual-ligand synthetic approach, five isoreticular primitive cubic (pcu)-type pillared-layer metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), [Zn2 (dicarboxylate)2 (NI-bpy-44)]⋅x DMF⋅y H2 O, in which dicarboxylate=1,4-bdc (1), Br-1,4-bdc (2), NH2 -1,4-bdc (3), 2,6-ndc (4), and bpdc (5), have been engineered. MOFs 1-5 feature twofold degrees of interpenetration and have open pores of 27.0, 33.6, 36.8, 52.5, and 62.1 %, respectively. Nitrogen adsorption isotherms of activated MOFs 1'-5' at 77 K all displayed type I adsorption behavior, suggesting their microporous nature. Although 1' and 3'-5' exhibited type I adsorption isotherms of CO2 at 195 K, MOF 2' showed a two-step gate-opening sorption isotherm of CO2 . Furthermore, MOF 3' also had a significant influence of amine functions on CO2 uptake at high temperature due to the CO2 -framework interactions. MOFs 1-5 revealed solvent-dependent fluorescence properties; their strong blue-light emissions in aqueous suspensions were efficiently quenched by trace amounts of nitrobenzene (NB), with limits of detection of 4.54, 5.73, 1.88, 2.30, and 2.26 μm, respectively, and Stern-Volmer quenching constants (Ksv ) of 2.93×103 , 1.79×103 , 3.78×103 , 4.04×103 , and 3.21×103 m-1 , respectively. Of particular note, the NB-included framework, NB@3, provided direct evidence of the binding sites, which showed strong host-guest π-π and hydrogen-bonding interactions beneficial for donor-acceptor electron transfer and resulting in fluorescence quenching.

Abstract
In this work, a metal-organic framework UiO-66-(COOH)2 has been synthesized and is further functionalized with Tb3+ through coordination interactions. The functionalized MOF, denoted as Tb3+@UiO-66-(COOH)2, is fully characterized and further developed as an excellent fluorescent probe to monitor Cu2+ ions in aqueous media by fluorescence quenching effect. Tb3+@UiO-66-(COOH)2 exhibits high selectivity and sensitivity, broad linear concentration range (0-200 μM), low detection limits (0.23 μM), fast response speed (within 1 min), as well as in situ naked eye observation under UV light for sensing Cu2+ ion. Furthermore, this probe was successfully employed to detect Cu2+ ion in real water with good recovery. Hence, this work developed a very excellent fluorescent sensor with high potential practical applications for detection of Cu2+ ion in environmental water samples.

Abstract
A new Fe-based metal-organic framework (MOF), termed Fe-TBAPy Fe2(OH)2(TBAPy)·4.4H2O, was solvothermally synthesized. Structural analysis revealed that Fe-TBAPy is built from [Fe(OH)(CO2)2]∞ rod-shaped SBUs (SBUs = secondary building units) and 1,3,6,8-tetrakis(p-benzoate)pyrene (TBAPy4-) linker to form the frz topological structure highlighted by 7 Å channels and 3.4 Å narrow pores sandwiching between the pyrene cores of TBAPy4-. Consequently, Fe-TBAPy was used as a recyclable heterogeneous catalyst for benzene hydroxylation. Remarkably, the catalysis reaction resulted in high phenol yield and selectivity of 64.5% and 92.9%, respectively, which are higher than that of the other Fe-based MOFs and comparable with those of the best-performing heterogeneous catalysts for benzene hydroxylation. This finding demonstrated the potential for the design of MOFs with enhancing catalysis activity for benzene hydroxylation.
