Abstract
Separation of C2H6/C2H4 mixtures is of significant importance in the chemical industry but remains a challenge due to the physicochemical similarities of C2H6 and C2H4. Herein, a metal-organic framework (MOF), [Zn4(μ4-O)(PCTF)3]n (Zn-PCTF) (PCTF2-= 5-trifluoromethyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic), is provided for the removal of C2H6 from C2H6/C2H4 mixtures. Zn-PCTF displays a three-dimensional framework featuring one-dimensional pore channels with periodic bottleneck segments. The well-balanced C2H6 adsorption capacity (79.0 cm3 g-1 at 298 K) and C2H6/C2H4 selectivity (1.8) for Zn-PCTF under ambient conditions boost Zn-PCTF with highly promising potentials for efficient purification of C2H4 from C2H6/C2H4 mixtures, which is verified by the dynamic column breakthrough experiments. The well-matched caged pores and suitable pore chemistry (particularly the presence of abundant Lewis base sites (N, O, and F) on the pore surfaces) for C2H6 account for the high-performance C2H6/C2H4 separation of Zn-PCTF unveiled by computational simulations.

Abstract
Porous isomers constructed from the same building blocks but different topology break the general preferred coordination rule of organic linkers and metal nodes, representing an invaluable opportunity for enriching their pore chemistry. Herein, a new group of porous isomers (termed as NTU-69 and NTU-70) was prepared from a C2v symmetric diimidazole-dicarboxylate ligand and mononuclear Cu ion. The structural differences arise from the different rotation configuration of the sp2 bond in the ligand, leading them to exhibit completely different topologies of unc (NTU-69) and sod (NTU-70) as well as framework rigidness. This rotation configuration of the sp2 bond can be controlled by the different acidity of the synthetic solution and the metal/ligand ratio. Gas adsorption and IAST selectivity show that NTU-70 features high potential for CH4 purification from C2H4, C2H6, C3H6 and CO2 mixtures at room temperature. The insight from this work establishes a new bridge between the ligand design and controlled construction of porous isomers.

Abstract
Ethylene production is an important and direct indicator related to the development of the petrochemical industry in a country. However, the separation and purification of ethylene is an extremely energy-consuming process. In this review, the latest progress in the purification of ethylene using metal organic frameworks (MOFs), a new type of physical adsorbent, is summarized according to four classifications of pore engineering, including pore surface functionalization, molecular sieving, controlled framework softness and dynamic pore-dominated molecular diffusion. Finally, the current challenges and future prospects in this field are also discussed.

Abstract
High-quality pure acetylene (C2H2) is a kind of crucial starting material for various value-added products. However, selective capture of C2H2 from the main impurity of CO2 via porous absorbents is a great challenge, as they possess extremely similar kinetic diameters and boiling points, as well as the explosive and reactive properties of C2H2. Herein, we report a porous coordination polymer (PCP), (NTU-55), which assembled from the coordination between a Cu dimer and a newly designed ligand with a nonmetal selenium (Se) site. Static single-component adsorption and dynamic breakthrough experiments reveal that desolvated NTU-55 can completely adsorb C2H2 from the C2H2/CO2 mixture (1/4, v/v) at 298 K, along with higher C2H2 capacity and much lower binding energy. The origin of this separation, as comprehensively revealed by density functional theory (DFT) calculations, is derived from the interaction discriminatory of C2H2 and CO2 toward accessible Se and Cu adsorption sites. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time to find the positive effect of nonmetal Se sites for selective C2H2 capture.

Abstract
The synthesis of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with a template strategy is still fascinating and has received considerable attention from structural chemists. In this review, developments in tuning MOF hosts or pore structures with a template strategy in the past decades are summarized. By adding templates into MOF precursors, novel template@MOF materials can always be obtained, which cannot be accessed by traditional synthesis procedures. Template@MOF materials can be structurally characterized to help understand the interactions between host frameworks and guest templates. On the other hand, changing the species or amount of template may lead to a pore structure change that can be used as a molecular container to load functional guest molecules with matching sizes for specific applications. It is hoped that this review will provide future researchers with new insight into the design and synthesis of MOF materials by applying suitable templates.

Abstract
The exquisite combination of hetreometallic [TbIIINiII(COO)3(H2O)] clusters with a designed hexatopic ligand generates one highly robust three-dimensional heterometallic TbIII/NiII-organic framework material {[TbNi(HTDP)(H2O)]·3DMF·2H2O}n (NUC-2; H6TDP = 2,4,6-tri(2,4-dicarboxyphenyl)pyridine). Gas adsorption measurements reveal that the activated NUC-2 exhibits ultrahigh C2H2 adsorption capacity but negligible uptake of C2H4, which is ascribed to its high stability and ultrahigh functional internal surface. Furthermore, dynamic breakthrough experiments confirm that NUC-2 can effectively fulfill the separation of a C2H2/C2H4 (1 : 99) mixture. Such excellent performance makes NUC-2 a promising adsorbent for practical C2H2/C2H4 separation and provides new insights into heterometallic MOFs for gas separation.
