Abstract
Excessive or insufficient iron(Ⅲ) will pose burdens of human body, and its content is the key to control the function of iron-fortified food. In this regard, a functionalized quinoline ionic probe, benefiting from the electrostatic attraction, was designed for the colorimetric detection of Fe3+ in food. This probe formed a 2: 1 complex with Fe3+, altering the UV-vis spectra and solution color. The UV-vis detection limit was 0.2 μM, and visually, the color shifted from light-yellow to dark-green as Fe3+ concentrations increased, with a visual detection limit of 3.4 μM, meeting the maximum acceptable level of 5.4 μM. Noteworthy, ionic liquid-based sensing paper was constructed for rapid, semi-quantitative Fe3+ detection. Furthermore, the satisfying recovery (97.4-102.9 %) was obtained in real samples, showcasing the probe's efficiency. This work demonstrated the potential of ionic liquids for the fast, sensitive, and visual detection of Fe3+, offering a promising direction for metal element sensing platforms.

Abstract
In this study, we demonstrate that a highly efficient colorimetric sensor prepared from carbon-shielded Co-Ce Prussian blue analog (PBA) nanopetals (CoOx/CeO2@C) by green chemical deposition method and thermal annealing processes for detection of ascorbic acid (AA) in cerebral microdialysis fluids. The synthesized CoOx/CeO2@C showed high dual-mimetic activity, i.e., peroxidase- and catalase-like activity, and great catalytic stability. The combination of carbon film and Co-Ce PBA nanopetals (1) greatly enhances the interfacial electron transfer rate of the nanopetals due to excellent electrical conductivity of carbon, and (2) protects nanopetals from acidic chemical environments during the catalytic process, which greatly reduces loss of the catalytic activity of the cobalt-cerium (hydroxide) oxides. Based on the peroxidase-like property of CoOx/CeO2@C nanopetals, this sensor has a good linear range from 0.1 to 150 μM with a low detection limit of 0.04 μM, i.e., improved sensitivity for AA colorimetric measurement. The developed colorimetric strategy with a green synthetic pathway, catalytic stability and wide linear range confirms the monitoring of AA in brain systems during calm/ischemic processes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Heavy metal pollution poses a serious threat to the ecological environment. Mercury ion (Hg2+) is a class of highly toxic heavy metal ions, which is bioaccumulative, difficult to breakdown, and has a significant affinity with sulfur and thiol-containing proteins, which seriously affects environmental safety and human health. Nanozyme-based sensing methods are expected to be used to detect toxic heavy metal ions. However, the application of precious metal nanozymes to develop portable sensors with simplicity, high stability, and high sensitivity has not been explored to a large extent. RESULTS In this paper, based on MXene's unique adsorption capacity for certain precious metal ions, PtNPs/Ti3C2TXNR composites were successfully prepared by in-situ growth of Pt nanoparticles (PtNPs) on the surface of Ti3C2TX MXene nanoribbons (Ti3C2TXNR) using the hydrothermal technique. Experimental data revealed PtNPs/Ti3C2TXNR exhibited superior peroxidase-like activity, attributed to the synergistic effect of well-dispersed ultrasmall PtNPs and electron transfer effect. Hg2+ can significantly inhibit enzyme-like activity of PtNPs/Ti3C2TXNR due to specific capture and partial in-situ reduction of PtNPs, so a colorimetric sensor was constructed for ultra-trace detection of Hg2+ with a linear range of 0.2 nM and 400 nM. Furthermore, using the portable detecting capabilities of smartphones and hydrogel, a smartphone-assisted hydrogel sensing platform of Hg2+ was constructed. Notably, the two-mode sensing platforms exhibited outstanding detection performance with LOD values as low as 15 pM (colorimetric) and 26 pM (hydrogel), respectively, superior to recently reported nanozyme-based Hg2+ sensors. SIGNIFICANCE Compared with other methods, the PtNPs/Ti3C2TXNR-based dual-mode sensor designed in this paper has superior sensitivity, high selectivity, simple operation and portability. In particular, the dual-output sensing strategy enables self-confirmation of detection results, greatly improving the reliability of the sensor, and is expected to be used for the on-site determination of trace mercury ions.

Abstract
In this study, a novel approach exploiting the interactions between hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and ruthenium-nitrogen-carbon (Ru-N-C) nanozymes is presented, advancing H2S and cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE) biosensing techniques. Utilizing the intrinsic peroxidase-like activity of Ru-N-C nanozymes and the noticeable inhibition effect caused by H2S, an efficient, simple, and economical assay has been developed. This innovative method allows for the versatile real-time monitoring of H2S from various sources, including specialized donors and native bacterial production. Furthermore, the assay has been applied to reveal the interactions within tumor cells and tissues ex vivo, providing a clearer and simpler view of CSE expression levels through an improved colorimetric method. This contribution enhances our understanding of the complex roles of H2S metabolism and represents a significant advancement in the versatile application of nanozymes in biomedical research.

Abstract
BPA aptamers functionalized cerium oxide nanoparticles encapsulated in zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (CeO2@ZIF-8/Apt) were developed to fabricate an all-in-one portable platform for on-site quantitative detection of BPA. By combining biocomposites with a 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB)-based sodium alginate (SA) hydrogel and smartphone-based RGB analysis, highly sensitive and convenient monitoring of BPA was achieved. CeO2@ZIF-8 composites were constructed using a novel surfactant-modified concentration-controlled synthesis strategy. After being functionalized with BPA aptamers, CeO2@ZIF-8/Apt biocomposites were used as target-response colorimetric probes for target recognition and signal transduction. The oxidase-like activity of CeO2@ZIF-8 was effectively sealed by BPA aptamers and controllably released in a concentration-dependent manner through aptamer-BPA reactions. Utilizing SA hydrogels containing TMB in the caps, a one-step sample addition and one-pot detection can be conveniently achieved and reliably quantified by smartphone-based RGB analysis in an instrument-free way. The detection range of this portable detection platform is 50 pg/mL to 500 ng/mL with limit of detection calculated as 34.88 pg/mL, comparable to that of conventional detection in the solution system (4.57 pg/mL). The recoveries in tap water, apple juice, and milk ranged from 91.02 % and 106.75 %. This work contributes new insights into the design of all-in-one detection platforms for contaminants monitoring in resource-constrained regions.

Abstract
Remote control of cells and the regulation of cell events at the molecular level are of great interest to the biomedical field. In addition to mechanical forces and genes, chemical compounds and light play pivotal roles in regulating cell fate, which have boosted the fast growth of biology. Herein, we synthesized light-regulated, atomically dispersed Fe-N4immobilized on a carbon substrate nanozyme (Fe-N/C single atom catalysts), whose peroxidase- and catalase-like properties can be enhanced by 120% and 135%, respectively, under 808-nm laser irradiation through the photothermal effect of Fe-N/C. Interestingly, a switch to love/switch to kill interaction between Fe-N/C dose and near-infrared (NIR) light co-regulating the Fe-N/C nanozyme to modulate cell fate was discovered. Based on this, we found that under NIR light irradiation, when the dose of Fe-N/C is low, it can scavenge more reactive oxygen species (ROS) and achieve cell protection; when the dose of Fe-N/C is too high, it tended to lead to cell apoptosis. This work not only provides an effective strategy for the regulation of nanozyme activity but also realizes the dual-functional application of nanozyme materials for the treatment of some specific diseases.

Abstract
Due to its unique structure and high porosity, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can act not only as nanozyme materials but also as carriers to encapsulate natural enzymes and thus have received extensive attention in recent years. However, a few research studies have been conducted to investigate MOF as a template to generate and tune nanozymes in the structure and performance. In this work, the "raisin pudding"-type ZIF-67/Cu0.76Co2.24O4 nanospheres (ZIF-67/Cu0.76Co2.24O4 NSs) were obtained by rationally regulating the weight ratio of ZIF-67 and Cu(NO3)2 in the synthesis process. Here, ZIF-67 not only acts as a template but also provides a cobalt source for the synthesis of cobalt copper oxide on the surface of ZIF-67/Cu0.76Co2.24O4 NSs with multiple enzyme-like activities. The ZIF-67/Cu0.76Co2.24O4 NSs can mimic four kinds of enzymes with peroxidase-like, glutathione peroxidase-like, superoxide dismutase-like, and laccase-like activities. Based on its laccase-like activity, an online electrochemical system for continuous monitoring of 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid with good linearity in the range of 0.5-20 μM and a detection limit of 0.15 μM was established. Furthermore, the alteration of DOPAC in the brain microdialysate before and after ischemia of the rats' brain was also successfully recorded. This work not only raises a new idea for the synthesis of nanozyme materials with multiple enzyme activities but also provides a new solution for the detection of neurotransmitters in living brains.
