Abstract
Scaffold-based tissue engineering provides an efficient approach for repairing uterine tissue defects and restoring fertility. In the current study, a novel trilayer tissue engineering scaffold with high similarity to the uterine tissue in structure was designed and fabricated via 4D printing, electrospinning and 3D bioprinting for uterine regeneration. Highly stretchable poly(l-lactide-co-trimethylene carbonate) (PLLA-co-TMC, "PTMC" in short)/thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) polymer blend scaffolds were firstly made via 4D printing. To improve the biocompatibility, porous poly(lactic acid-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA)/gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) fibers incorporated with polydopamine (PDA) particles were produced on PTMC/TPU scaffolds via electrospinning. Importantly, estradiol (E2) was encapsulated in PDA particles. The bilayer scaffolds thus produced could provide controlled and sustained release of E2. Subsequently, bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) were mixed with gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA)-based inks and the formulated bioinks were used to fabricate a cell-laden hydrogel layer on the bilayer scaffolds via 3D bioprinting, forming ultimately biomimicking trilayer scaffolds for uterine tissue regeneration. The trilayer tissue engineering scaffolds thus formed exhibited a shape morphing ability by transforming from the planar shape to tubular structures when immersed in the culture medium at 37°C. The trilayer tissue engineering scaffolds under development would provide new insights for uterine tissue regeneration.

Abstract
In the field of tissue engineering, 3D printed shape memory polymers (SMPs) are drawing increased interest. Understanding how these 3D printed SMPs degrade is critical for their use in the clinic, as small changes in material properties can significantly change how they behave after in vivo implantation. Degradation of 3D printed acrylated poly(glycerol-dodecanedioate) (APGD) was examined via in vitro hydrolytic, enzymatic, and in vivo subcutaneous implantation assays. Three APGD manufacturing modalities were assessed to determine differences in degradation. Material extrusion samples showed significantly larger mass and volume loss at 2 months, compared to lasercut and vat photopolymerization samples, under both enzymatic and in vivo degradation. Critically, melt transition temperatures of degraded PGD increased over time in vitro, but not in vivo. Histology of tissue surrounding APGD implants showed no significant signs of inflammation compared to controls, providing a promising outlook for use of 3D printed APGD devices in the clinic.

Abstract
The field of hybrid engineered living materials seeks to pair living organisms with synthetic materials to generate biocomposite materials with augmented function since living systems can provide highly-programmable and complex behavior. Engineered living materials have typically been fabricated using techniques in benign aqueous environments, limiting their application. In this work, biocomposite fabrication is demonstrated in which spores from polymer-degrading bacteria are incorporated into a thermoplastic polyurethane using high-temperature melt extrusion. Bacteria are engineered using adaptive laboratory evolution to improve their heat tolerance to ensure nearly complete cell survivability during manufacturing at 135 °C. Furthermore, the overall tensile properties of spore-filled thermoplastic polyurethanes are substantially improved, resulting in a significant improvement in toughness. The biocomposites facilitate disintegration in compost in the absence of a microbe-rich environment. Finally, embedded spores demonstrate a rationally programmed function, expressing green fluorescent protein. This research provides a scalable method to fabricate advanced biocomposite materials in industrially-compatible processes.

Abstract
Skeletal muscle tissue engineering (TE) and adipose tissue engineering have undergone significant progress in recent years. This review focuses on the key findings in these areas, particularly highlighting the integration of 3D bioprinting techniques to overcome challenges and enhance tissue regeneration. In skeletal muscle TE, 3D bioprinting enables the precise replication of muscle architecture. This addresses the need for the parallel alignment of cells and proper innervation. Satellite cells (SCs) and mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been utilized, along with co-cultivation strategies for vascularization and innervation. Therefore, various printing methods and materials, including decellularized extracellular matrix (dECM), have been explored. Similarly, in adipose tissue engineering, 3D bioprinting has been employed to overcome the challenge of vascularization; addressing this challenge is vital for graft survival. Decellularized adipose tissue and biomimetic scaffolds have been used as biological inks, along with adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs), to enhance graft survival. The integration of dECM and alginate bioinks has demonstrated improved adipocyte maturation and differentiation. These findings highlight the potential of 3D bioprinting techniques in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue engineering. By integrating specific cell types, biomaterials, and printing methods, significant progress has been made in tissue regeneration. However, challenges such as fabricating larger constructs, translating findings to human models, and obtaining regulatory approvals for cellular therapies remain to be addressed. Nonetheless, these advancements underscore the transformative impact of 3D bioprinting in tissue engineering research and its potential for future clinical applications.

Abstract
In recent years, as a class of advanced additive manufacturing (AM) technology, photocurable 3D printing has gained increasing attention. Based on its outstanding printing efficiency and molding accuracy, it is employed in various fields, such as industrial manufacturing, biomedical, soft robotics, electronic sensors. Photocurable 3D printing is a molding technology based on the principle of area-selective curing of photopolymerization reaction. At present, the main printing material suitable for this technology is the photosensitive resin, a composite mixture consisting of a photosensitive prepolymer, reactive monomer, photoinitiator, and other additives. As the technique research deepens and its application gets more developed, the design of printing materials suitable for different applications is becoming the hotspot. Specifically, these materials not only can be photocured but also have excellent properties, such as elasticity, tear resistance, fatigue resistance. Photosensitive polyurethanes can endow photocured resin with desirable performance due to their unique molecular structure including the inherent alternating soft and hard segments, and microphase separation. For this reason, this review summarizes and comments on the research and application progress of photocurable 3D printing of photosensitive polyurethanes, analyzing the advantages and shortcomings of this technology, also offering an outlook on this rapid development direction.

Abstract
Despite the crucial role of the extracellular matrix (ECM) in the organotypic organization and function of skeletal muscles, most 3D models do not mimic its specific characteristics, namely its biochemical composition, stiffness, anisotropy, and porosity. Here, a novel 3D in vitro model of muscle ECM was developed reproducing these four crucial characteristics of the native ECM. An anisotropic hydrogel mimicking the muscle fascia was obtained thanks to unidirectional 3D printing of dense collagen with aligned collagen fibrils. The space between the different layers was tuned to generate an intrinsic network of pores (100 μm) suitable for nutrient and oxygen diffusion. By modulating the gelling conditions, the mechanical properties of the construct reached those measured in the physiological muscle ECM. This artificial matrix was thus evaluated for myoblast differentiation. The addition of large channels (600 μm) by molding permitted to create a second range of porosity suitable for cell colonization without altering the physical properties of the hydrogel. Skeletal myoblasts embedded in Matrigel®, seeded within the channels, organized in 3D, and differentiated into multinucleated myotubes. These results show that porous and anisotropic dense collagen hydrogels are promising biomaterials to model skeletal muscle ECM.

Abstract
In medicine, tissue engineering has made significant advances. Using tissue engineering techniques, transplant treatments result in less donor site morbidity and need fewer surgeries overall. It is now possible to create cell-supporting scaffolds that degrade as new tissue grows on them, replacing them until complete body function is restored. Synthetic polymers have been a significant area of study for biodegradable scaffolds due to their ability to provide customizable biodegradable and mechanical features as well as a low immunogenic effect due to biocompatibility. The food and drug administration has given the biodegradable polymers widespread approval after they showed their reliability. In the context of tissue engineering, this paper aims to deliver an overview of the area of biodegradable and biocompatible synthetic polymers. Frequently used synthetic biodegradable polymers utilized in tissue scaffolding, scaffold specifications, polymer synthesis, degradation factors, as well as fabrication methods are discussed. In order to emphasize the many desired properties and corresponding needs for skeletal muscle and bone, particular examples of synthetic polymer scaffolds are investigated. Increased biocompatibility, functionality and clinical applications will be made possible by further studies into novel polymer and scaffold fabrication approaches.

Abstract
Bile duct regeneration is urgently needed to restore the normal function of the damaged biliary system. In this study, an artificial bile duct (ABD) was fabricated for extrahepatic bile duct regeneration based on biodegradable polyurethane (BPU) and ureter acellular matrix (UAM) to endow it with favorable biocompatibility and eliminate bile leakage during in vivo bile duct regeneration. The mechanical properties, in vitro simulation of bile flow and cytocompatibility of BPU-UAM ABD were evaluated in vitro, and surgical implantation in the biliary defect site in minipigs was implemented to reveal the in vivo degradation of BPU-UAM and regeneration of the new bile duct. The results indicated that BPU-UAM ABD with a mechanical strength of 11.9 MPa has excellent cytocompatibility to support 3T3 fibroblast survival and proliferation in extraction medium and on the scaffolds. The in vivo implantation of BPU-UAM ABD revealed the change of collagen content throughout the new bile duct regeneration. Biliary epithelial cells were observed at day 70, and continuous biliary epithelial layer formation was observed after 100 days of implantation. Altogether, the BPU-UAM ABD fabricated in this study possesses excellent properties for application study in the regeneration of bile duct. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: Extrahepatic bile duct defects carry considerable morbidity and mortality because they are the only pathway for bile to go down into the intestinal tract. At present, no artificial bile duct can promote biliary regeneration. In this study, BPU-UAM ABD was built based on biodegradable polyurethane and ureter acellular matrix to form a continuous compact layer of polyurethane in the internal wall of UAM and avoid bile leakage and experimental failure during in vivo implantation. Our work verified the effectiveness of the synthesized biodegradable polyurethane emulsion-modified urethral acellular matrix in bile regeneration and continuous biliary epithelial layer formation. This study provided a new approach for the curing of bile duct defects and inducing new bile tissue formation.

Abstract
Generating skeletal muscle tissue that mimics the cellular alignment, maturation, and function of native skeletal muscle is an ongoing challenge in disease modeling and regenerative therapies. Skeletal muscle cultures require extracellular guidance and mechanical support to stabilize contractile myofibers. Existing microfabrication-based solutions are limited by complex fabrication steps, low throughput, and challenges in measuring dynamic contractile function. Here, the synthesis and characterization of a new biobased nanohybrid elastomer, which is electrospun into aligned nanofiber sheets to mimic the skeletal muscle extracellular matrix, is presented. The polymer exhibits remarkable hyperelasticity well-matched to that of native skeletal muscle (≈11-50 kPa), with ultimate strain ≈1000%, and elastic modulus ≈25 kPa. Uniaxially aligned nanofibers guide myoblast alignment, enhance sarcomere formation, and promote a ≈32% increase in myotube fusion and ≈50% increase in myofiber maturation. The elastomer nanofibers stabilize optogenetically controlled human induced pluripotent stem cell derived skeletal myofibers. When activated by blue light, the myofiber-nanofiber hybrid constructs maintain a significantly higher (>200%) contraction velocity and specific force (>280%) compared to conventional culture methods. The engineered myofibers exhibit a power density of ≈35 W m-3 . This system is a promising new skeletal muscle tissue model for applications in muscular disease modeling, drug discovery, and muscle regeneration.
