Abstract
We report a recyclable and efficient catalyst system based on a nickel-benzene tricarboxylic acid metal-organic framework (Ni-BTC MOF) for the borylation of aryl halides, including aryl chlorides, with bis(pinacolato)diboron, affording aryl boronate esters in high yields (up to >99% yield) with high selectivity. This protocol demonstrates broad functional group tolerance. Catalyst can be recyclable up to four times, and gram-scale reactions further highlights the usefulness of this method. In situ EPR experiments confirmed the formation of catalytically active Ni(I) species.

Abstract
A recyclable protocol using a CeO2-nanorod catalyst for borylation of alkyl halides with B2pin2 (pin = OCMe2CMe2O) is reported. A wide range of synthetically useful alkyl boronate esters are readily obtained from primary and secondary alkyl electrophiles, including unactivated alkyl chlorides, demonstrating broad utility and functional group tolerance. Preliminary investigation revealed an involvement of in situ formed catalytically active boryl species. The catalyst can be reused for up to six runs without appreciable loss in activity. In addition, we have demonstrated the use of this recyclable catalyst for the borylation of aryl halides with B2pin2, providing valuable aryl boronate esters under neat conditions.

Abstract
A method has been described for accessing α-seleno alkyl boronates. The selenoboration was achieved via the diboration of carbonyl compounds to give α-oxyl boronates, which then undergo 1,2-metalate rearrangement in the presence of lithium selenolates and trifluoroacetic anhydride (TFAA). A variety of structurally diverse substrates were compatible with this protocol and efficiently provides difunctionalized products from simple starting materials. The presence of the boronic ester in the resulting organoselenium compounds serves as a versatile synthetic handle for various functionalizations. Mechanistic studies revealed that the binding of selenium nucleophile to both the boron centers in α-oxyl boronate esters.

Abstract
This study investigates the photoinduced C-X borylation reaction of aryl halides by forming a halogen-bonding (XB) complex using 2-naphthol as an XB acceptor. The method is chemoselective and broadly functional group tolerant and provides concise access to corresponding boronate esters. Mechanistic studies reveal that forming the XB complex between aryl halide and naphthol acts as an electron donor-acceptor complex to furnish aryl radicals through photoinduced electron transfer.

Abstract
Regioselective hydroboration of pyridines to 1,2-dihydropyridines remains a significant challenge for the synthesis of valuable nitrogenous bioactive molecules. Herein, we report a base free ligand-controlled cobalt-catalyzed 1,2-hydroboration of pyridines and quinolines with very low catalyst loading under neat reaction conditions. The choice of sterically demanding N-heterocyclic ligands led to the 1,2-regioselectivity and the scope was demonstrated by the N-heterocycles having a variety of functional groups. The preliminary mechanistic studies corroborate that the two ligands followed a distinct catalytic cycle with Co(I) as an active species.

Abstract
We report the synthesis of aryl boronic esters and aryl phosphonate esters promoted by visible-light in the absence of transition-metals or photoredox catalysts. The transformation proceeds at room temperature using sodium hydride, as a non-nucleophilic base, and exhibits functional group tolerance for anilines, amides, and esters. UV-vis spectroscopy, radical trapping experiments, and computational (TD-DFT) calculations suggest an electron-donor-acceptor (EDA) complex between solvent anions and aryl halides as the species responsible for this reactivity.

Abstract
A remote C(sp3 )-H bond asymmetric borylation of unactivated alkenes was achieved by bimetallic relay catalysis. The reaction proceeded through reversible and consecutive β-H elimination/olefin insertion promoted by CoH species generated in situ, followed by copper-catalyzed asymmetric protoboration. The use of this synergistic Co/Cu catalysis protocol allowed the enantioselective protoboration of various unactivated terminal alkenes and internal alkenes, as well as an unrefined mixture of olefin isomers, at the distal less-reactive β-position to a functional group, leading to chiral organoboronates.

Abstract
Adding to the versatile class of ionic liquids, we report the detailed structure and property analysis of a new class of asymmetrically substituted imidazolium salts, offering interesting thermal characteristics, such as liquid crystalline behavior, polymorphism or glass transitions. A scalable general synthetic procedure for N‐polyaryl‐N’‐alkyl‐functionalized imidazolium salts with para‐substituted linker (L) moieties at the aryl chain, namely [LPhmImHR]+ (L=Br, CN, SMe, CO2Et, OH; m=2, 3; R=C12, PEGn; n=2, 3, 4), was developed. These imidazolium salts were studied by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction (SC‐XRD), NMR spectroscopy and thermochemical methods (DSC, TGA). Furthermore, these imidazolium salts were used as N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligand precursors for mononuclear, first‐row transition metal complexes (MnII, FeII, CoII, NiII, ZnII, CuI, AgI, AuI) and for the dinuclear Ti‐supported Fe‐NHC complex [(OPy)2Ti(OPh2ImC12)2(FeI2)] (OPy=pyridin‐2‐ylmethanolate). The complexes were studied concerning their structural and magnetic behavior via multi‐nuclear NMR spectroscopy, SC‐XRD analyses, variable temperature and field‐dependent (VT‐VF) SQUID magnetization methods, X‐band EPR spectroscopy and, where appropriate, zero‐field 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy.

Abstract
AbstractPd2dba3/XPhos in poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG-2000) is shown to be a highly stable and efficient catalyst for the borylation of aryl chlorides with bis(pinacolato)diboron. The borylation reaction proceeds smoothly at 110 °C, delivering a wide variety of aryl boronates in good to excellent yields with high functional group tolerance. The crude products were easily isolated via simple extraction of the reaction mixture with cyclohexane. Moreover, both expensive Pd2dba3 and XPhos in PEG-2000 system could be readily recycled and reused more than six times without loss of catalytic efficiency.

Abstract
A new cobalt complex bearing a bulky N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligand is described as a pre-catalyst for alkyne hydroboration. The proposed catalytic system, synthesized using easily accessible reagents, allowed obtaining a series of mono- and dialkenylboranes in solvent-free conditions with excellent efficiency and selectivity. The results have been compared to those obtained in the presence of the same cobalt complex containing smaller NHC ligands and those achieved for the catalytic system based on a CoCl2 – NHC precursor. Cobalt complex bearing bulky NHC ligand enable selective hydroboration of alkynes in solvent-free conditions.![]()

While the formation
and breaking of transition metal (TM)–carbon
bonds plays a pivotal role in the catalysis of organic compounds,
the reactivity of inorganometallic species, that is, those involving
the transition metal (TM)–metalloid (E) bond, is of key importance
in most conversions of metalloid derivatives catalyzed by TM complexes.
This Review presents the background of inorganometallic catalysis
and its development over the last 15 years. The results of mechanistic
studies presented in the Review are related to the occurrence of TM–E
and TM–H compounds as reactive intermediates in the catalytic
transformations of selected metalloids (E = B, Si, Ge, Sn, As, Sb,
or Te). The Review illustrates the significance of inorganometallics
in catalysis of the following processes: addition of metalloid–hydrogen
and metalloid–metalloid bonds to unsaturated compounds; activation
and functionalization of C–H bonds and C–X bonds with
hydrometalloids and bismetalloids; activation and functionalization
of C–H bonds with vinylmetalloids, metalloid halides, and sulfonates;
and dehydrocoupling of hydrometalloids. This first Review on inorganometallic
catalysis sums up the developments in the catalytic methods for the
synthesis of organometalloid compounds and their applications in advanced
organic synthesis as a part of tandem reactions.

Abstract
Numerous metal-catalyzed reactions involving internal alkynes and aimed towards synthetically and pharmacologically important alkenes and heterocycles have appeared in the literature. Among these, Cu-catalyzed reactions have a special place, which has prompted the investigation and development of carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond-forming reactions. These reactions possess wide scope, and during the paths of these reactions, either stable or in situ intermediates are formed via the addition of Cu as a core catalyst or synergistic catalyst. In this review, we aim to report different contributions relating to Cu-catalyzed reactions of internal alkynes for the synthesis of different valuable alkenes and heterocycles which have appeared in the literature in the last decade. We anticipate that this appraisal will deliver basic insights for the further advancement of Cu-catalyzed reactions in organic chemistry.

The transformation of the carbon-boron bond into a carbon-X (X = C, N, and O) bond in a stereocontrolled fashion has become invaluable in medicinal chemistry, agrochemistry, and natural products chemistry as well as materials science. Over the past decade, first-row d-block transition metals have become increasingly widely used as catalysts for the formation of a carbon-boron bond, a transformation traditionally catalyzed by expensive precious metals. This recent focus on alternative transition metals has enabled growth in fundamental methods in organoboron chemistry. This review surveys the current state-of-the-art in the use of first-row d-block element-based catalysts for the formation of carbon-boron bonds.

Abstract
A nickel/N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalytic system has been developed for the borylation of aryl sulfoxides with B2 (neop)2 (neop=neopentyl glycolato). A wide range of aryl sulfoxides with different electronic and steric properties were converted into the corresponding arylboronic esters in good yields. The regioselective borylation of unsymmetric diaryl sulfoxides was also feasible leading to borylation of the sterically less encumbered aryl substituent. Competition experiments demonstrated that an electron-deficient aryl moiety reacts preferentially. The origin of the selectivity in the Ni-catalyzed borylation of electronically biased unsymmetrical diaryl sulfoxide lies in the oxidative addition step of the catalytic cycle, as oxidative addition of methoxyphenyl 4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl sulfoxide to the Ni(0) complex occurs selectively to give the structurally characterized complex trans-[Ni(ICy)2 (4-CF3 -C6 H4 ){(SO)-4-MeO-C6 H4 }] 4. For complex 5, the isomer trans-[Ni(ICy)2 (C6 H5 )(OSC6 H5 )] 5-I was structurally characterized in which the phenyl sulfinyl ligand is bound via the oxygen atom to nickel. In solution, the complex trans-[Ni(ICy)2 (C6 H5 )(OSC6 H5 )] 5-I is in equilibrium with the S-bonded isomer trans-[Ni(ICy)2 (C6 H5 )(SOC6 H5 )] 5, as shown by NMR spectroscopy. DFT calculations reveal that these isomers are separated by a mere 0.3 kJ/mol (M06/def2-TZVP-level of theory) and connected via a transition state trans-[Ni(ICy)2 (C6 H5 )(η2 -{SO}-C6 H5 )], which lies only 10.8 kcal/mol above 5.

Abstract
![]()
Heteroarene boronate esters constitute
valuable intermediates in
modern organic synthesis. As building blocks, they can be further
applied to the synthesis of new materials, since they can be easily
transformed into any other functional group. Efforts toward novel
and efficient strategies for their preparation are clearly desirable.
Here, we have achieved the borylation of commercially available heteroarene
halides under very mild conditions in an easy-to-use gel nanoreactor.
Its use of visible light as the energy source at room temperature
in photocatalyst-free and aerobic conditions makes this protocol very
attractive. The gel network provides an adequate stabilizing microenvironment
to support wide substrate scope, including furan, thiophene, selenophene,
and pyrrole boronate esters.

Abstract
The mild borylation of alkyl bromides and chlorides with bis(neopentylglycolato)diborane (B2neop2) mediated by iron-bis amide is described. The reaction proceeds with a broad substrate scope and good functional group compatibility. Moreover, sufficient catalytic activity was obtained for primary and secondary alkyl halides. Mechanistic studies indicate that the reaction proceeds through a radical pathway.

Abstract
A highly selective and general photoinduced C-Cl borylation protocol that employs [Ni(IMes)2] (IMes = 1,3-dimesitylimidazoline-2-ylidene) for the radical borylation of chloroarenes is reported. This photoinduced system operates with visible light (400 nm) and achieves borylation of a wide range of chloroarenes with B2pin2 at room temperature in excellent yields and with high selectivity, thereby demonstrating its broad utility and functional group tolerance. Mechanistic investigations suggest that the borylation reactions proceed via a radical process. EPR studies demonstrate that [Ni(IMes)2] undergoes very fast chlorine atom abstraction from aryl chlorides to give [NiI(IMes)2Cl] and aryl radicals. Control experiments indicate that light promotes the reaction of [NiI(IMes)2Cl] with aryl chlorides generating additional aryl radicals and [NiII(IMes)2Cl2]. The aryl radicals react with an anionic sp2-sp3 diborane [B2pin2(OMe)]- formed from B2pin2 and KOMe to yield the corresponding borylation product and the [Bpin(OMe)]•- radical anion, which reduces [NiII(IMes)2Cl2] under irradiation to regenerate [NiI(IMes)2Cl] and [Ni(IMes)2] for the next catalytic cycle.

Abstract
An efficient and mild method for reductive C-O bond cleavage of lignin β-O-4 ketone models was developed to afford the corresponding ketones and phenols with PDI-CoCl2 as the precatalyst and diboron reagent as the reductant. The synthetic utility of the methodology was demonstrated by depolymerization of a polymeric model and gram-scale transformation. Mechanistic studies suggested that this transformation involves steps of carbonyl insertion, 1,2-Brook type rearrangement, β-oxygen elimination, and rate-limiting regeneration of the catalytic active Co-B species.

Abstract
Indole derivatives are associated with a variety of both biological activities and applications in the field of material chemistry. A number of different strategies for synthesizing substituted indoles by means of the reactions of indolylboronic acids with electrophilic compounds are considered the methods of choice for modifying indoles because indolylboronic acids are easily available, stable, non-toxic and new reactions using indolylboronic acids have been described in the literature. Thus, the aim of this review is to summarize the methods available for the preparation of indolylboronic acids as well as their chemical transformations. The review covers the period 2010-2019.

Abstract
Herein, we present an air-stable dianthracenyl monophosphine ligand (diAnthPhos) which can be prepared in two steps from commercially available anthracene derivatives. The ligand exhibits excellent efficiency for palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions. In particular, Miyaura borylation of heterocycle-containing electrophiles can be facilitated employing the diAnthPhos ligand with a broad substrate scope and low catalyst loading. The valuable synthetic utility of the new ligand is further demonstrated by a one-pot Miyaura borylation/Suzuki coupling protocol for heteroaryl-containing substrates.

Abstract
The first example of a Cu-catalysed borylation of a wide range of aryl chlorides with different electronic and steric properties is mediated by a readily prepared NHC-stabilised Cu catalyst and KOtBu. The aryl chlorides are converted into their corresponding arylboronic esters using B2pin2 or B2neop2 as the boron reagent.

Abstract
Diboron reagents have been traditionally regarded as "Lewis acids", which can react with simple Lewis base to create a significant nucleophilic character in one of boryl moieties. In particular, bis(pinacolato)diboron (B₂pin₂) reacts with simple Lewis bases, such as N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), phosphines and alkoxides. This review focuses on the application of trivalent nucleophilic boryl synthon in the selective preparation of organoboron compounds, mainly through metal-free catalytic diboration and the β-boration reactions of alkynes and alkenes.
