Abstract
Synthesis of a chelating phosphite-phosphine ligand from a tris(quinoxaline) extended resorcin[4]arene and its application in the rhodium-catalyzed hydroformylation of terminal alkyl alkenes are reported. Rhodium complexes are formed within the cavity of the macrocycle and branched-selective hydroformylation of 1-octene with a b/l ratio of 5.9 has been achieved at 60 °C under 1:1 H2/CO (20 bar).

Abstract
Catalytic asymmetric synthesis of polysubstituted chiral cyclopropane presents a significant challenge in organic synthesis due to the difficulty in enantioselective control. Here we report a rhodium-catalyzed highly chemo-, regio- and enantioselective hydroformylation of trisubstituted cyclopropenes affording chiral quaternary cyclopropanes. Importantly, the easy made sterically bulky ligand L1 can effectively suppress hydrogenation and decomposition reactions and give quaternary cyclopropanes with high regio- and enantioselectivities for both aryl and alkyl functionalized substrates. Control experiments and computational studies reveal the sterically hindered well-defined chiral pocket instead of the substrates bearing electron-withdrawing diester groups is important for controlling the enantioselectivity and regioselectivity. Scale-up reaction and follow-up diverse transformations are also presented. Density Functional theory (DFT) computations suggest that the regio- and enantio-selectivities originate from the cyclopropene insertion to the Rh-H bond. The high regioselectivity is found to benefit from the presence of more efficient noncovalent interactions (NCIs) manifesting in the form of C-H···Cl, C-H···N, and l.p(Cl)···π contacts.

Abstract
Hydroformylation of olefins is widely used in the chemical industry due to its versatility and the ability to produce valuable aldehydes with 100% atom economy. Herein, a hybrid phosphate promoter was found to efficiently promote rhodium-catalyzed hydroformylation of styrenes under remarkably mild conditions with high regioselectivities. Preliminary mechanistic studies revealed that the weak coordination between the Rhodium and the P=O double bond of this pentavalent phosphate likely induced exceptional reactivity and high ratios of branched aldehydes to linear products.

Abstract
Caged complexes can provide impressive selective catalysts. Due to the complex shapes of such caged catalysts, however, the level of selectivity control of a single substrate cannot be extrapolated to other substrates. Herein, the substrate scope using 41 terminal alkene substrates is investigated in the hydroformylation reaction with an encapsulated rhodium catalyst [Rh(H)(CO)3(P(mPy3(ZnTPP)3))] (CAT1). For all substrates, the amount of branched products formed was higher with CAT1 than with the unencapsulated reference catalyst [Rh(H)(CO)2(P(mPy3))2] (CAT2) (linear/branched ratio between 2.14 and 0.12 for CAT1 and linear/branched ratio between 6.22 and 0.59 for CAT2). Interestingly, the level of cage induced selectivity depends strongly on the substrate structure that is converted. Analysis of the substrate scope combined with DFT calculations suggests that noncovalent interactions between the substrate moieties and cage walls play a key role in controlling the regioselectivity. Consequently, these supramolecular interactions were further optimized by replacing the ZnTPP building block with a zinc porphyrin analog that contained OiPr substituents on the meta position of the aryl rings. The resulting caged catalyst, CAT4, converted substrates with even higher branched selectivity.

Abstract
Expensive rhodium (Rh)-based catalysts have been widely used for the hydroformylation of propene. To find a cheaper and effective alternative to these Rh-based catalysts, herein, a series of phosphine ligands were used to coordinate with iridium, and their catalytic reactivities for the hydroformylation of propene were systematically investigated in this study. The effects of different phosphine ligands, pressures, temperatures, and catalyst dosages on the hydroformylation of propene were investigated. Tripyridyl phosphine iridium Ir2(cod)2Cl2-P(3-py)3 (Ir(I)-L5) and its derivatives exhibit the highest catalytic reactivity. Surprisingly, the catalytic reactivity of Ir(I)-L5 is higher than that of Rh2(cod)2Cl2-P(3-py)3 (Rh(I)-L5). When the Ir(I)-L5 complex is used as the catalyst, reactions performed in a polar solvent gave higher turnover number (TON) values than those in a non-polar solvent. Up to a TON of 503 can be obtained. Different n-butyraldehyde/iso-butyraldehyde (n/i) ratios can be obtained by adjusting the phosphine ligands or the proportion of gas pressure. The catalyst showed good reusability in five recycling experiments. Furthermore, based on DFT theoretical calculations, a probable reaction mechanism was proposed. It is reliable that an Ir-based catalyst can be considered as a highly effective catalyst for the hydroformylation of propylene with CO.

Abstract
Naphthalene diimides (NDIs), a type of electron-deficient dye molecule with high quadrupole moment and excellent redox activity, have been utilized in various fields, such as energy transfer, chemical sensing, anion transport, and photo-/electrochromic materials. In this study, an electron-deficient metal-organic framework with one-dimensional channels, Eu2(BBNDI)3(DMF)2 (MOF 1) (H2BBNDI = N,N'-bis(3-benzoic acid)naphthalene diimide), was successfully constructed based on the naphthalene diimide derivative. Because of the generation of NDI radicals by electron transfer between components, this material exhibits fast-responsive reversible photochromic properties. Moreover, it shows high efficiency and selective oxidation of 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol to its quinone derivative, aldehyde, and dimeric or trimeric phenol derivative by controlling the reaction conditions.

Abstract
Single-atom Rh catalysts present superior activity relative to homogeneous catalyst in olefins hydroformylation, yet with limited success in regioselectivity control. In the present work, we develop a phosphorus coordinated Rh1 single-atom catalyst with nanodiamond as support. Benefiting from this unique structure, the catalyst exhibits excellent activity and regioselectivity in hydroformylation of arylethylenes with wide substrate generality, i.e., with high conversion (>99%) and high regioselectivity (>90%), which is comparable with the homogeneous counterparts. The coordination interaction between Rh1 and surface phosphorus species is clarified by 31P solid-state NMR and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). Rh single atoms are firmly anchored over nanodiamond through Rh-P bonds, guaranteeing good stability in the hydroformation of styrene even after six runs. Finally, by using this catalyst, two kinds of pharmaceutical molecules, Ibuprofen and Fendiline, are synthesized efficiently with high yields, demonstrating a new prospect of single-atom catalyst in pharmaceutical synthesis. Single-atom Rh catalysts present superior activity in olefins hydroformylation, yet with limited success in regioselectivity control. Here the authors develop a Rh1 single-atom catalyst with nanodiamond as support, with which good to excellent regioselectivities to branched aldehydes in hydroformylation of terminal olefins are achieved.

Abstract
Thiocarbonylation of alkynes offers an ideal procedure for the synthesis of unsaturated thioesters. A robust ligand-controlled regioselective thiocarbonylation of alkynes is developed. Utilizing boronic acid and 5-chlorosalicylic acid as the acid additive to in situ form 5-chloroborosalicylic acid (5-Cl-BSA), and bis(2-diphenylphosphinophenyl)ether (DPEphos) as the ligand, linear α,β-unsaturated thioesters were produced in a straightforward manner. Switching the ligand to tri(2-furyl)phosphine can turn the reaction selectivity to give branched products. Remarkably, this approach also represents the first example on thiocarbonylation of internal alkynes.
