Abstract
The FeOCl-based photo-Fenton heterojunction catalyst holds great promise for effective water pollution treatment. A novel heterojunction FeOCl/MOF-In2S3 (F/M-I) was fabricated by coating hollow MOF-In2S3 nanoflowers onto the surface of FeOCl. Under the optimal conditions, the maximum photo-Fenton degradation rate constants of FeOCl/MOF-In2S3 for oxytetracycline (OTC) within 20 min is 0.88192 L mg-1·min-1, which are 3.2 and 2.5 times that of pure FeOCl (0.27357 L mg-1·min-1) and MOF-In2S3 (0.35222 L mg-1·min-1). Density functional theory (DFT) results confirm that the electron-rich nature of MOF-In2S3 accelerates the cycle between Fe (III)/Fe (II)of FeOCl, promoting H2O2 adsorption by FeOCl/MOF-In2S3 and generating more hydroxyl radicals (·OH) for pollutant degradation. Based on the results of DFT, combined with the results of the reactive oxidation species scavenger (ROSs), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and Mott-Schottky curves, the separation and transfer behavior of photoexcited charges in FeOCl/MOF-In2S3 heterojunction and the possible photocatalytic degradation mechanism were investigated. Finally, a Z-scheme heterostructure is proposed to elucidate the catalytic mechanism. This study provides a new perspective on designing and synthesizing semiconductor materials for water treatment by photo-Fenton catalysis.

A novel "on-off-on" electrochemiluminescence strategy based on RNA cleavage propelled signal amplification and resonance energy transfer for Pb 2+ detection. Anal Chim Acta 2024; 1290:342218. [PMID: 38246744 DOI: 10.1016/j.aca.2024.342218] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 11/24/2023] [Revised: 01/02/2024] [Accepted: 01/04/2024] [Indexed: 01/23/2024]
Abstract
BACKGROUND Lead (Pb) is one of the most toxic heavy-metal pollutants. Additionally, lead ions (Pb2+) can accumulate in the human body through the food chain, causing irreversible damage through organ damage and system disorders. In the past few years, the detection of Pb2+ has mainly relied on instrumental methods such as atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Nonetheless, these techniques are complicated in terms of equipment and procedures, along with being time-intensive and expensive in terms of detection. These drawbacks have limited their wide application. Hence, there is a pressing need to develop detection techniques for Pb2+ that are not only cost-efficient but also highly sensitive and specific. RESULTS A novel "on-off-on" electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensor for detecting Pb2+ was developed based on the resonance energy transfer (RET) effect between AuNPs and boron nitride quantum dots (BN QDs) and the recognition of Pb2+ by DNAzyme along with the cleavage reaction of the substrate chain. Poly(6-carboxyindole)/stannic sulfide (P6ICA/SnS2) nanocomposite was employed as a co-reaction accelerator to consequently facilitate the production of intermediate SO4•-. This effective enhancement of the reaction led to an improved ECL intensity of BN QDs and enabled the sensor platform to exhibit a higher original ECL response. Benefiting from the combination of the DNAzyme signal amplification strategy with the "on-off-on" design, the ECL sensor showed satisfactory selectivity, good stability, and high sensitivity. This ECL sensor exhibited a linear detection range (LDR) of 10-12-10-5 M and a limit of detection (LOD) of 2.6 × 10-13 M. SIGNIFICANCE In the present work, an "on-off-on" ECL sensor is constructed based on RET effect for ultrasensitive detection of Pb2+. P6ICA/SnS2 was investigated as the co-reaction accelerator in this sensor. Moreover, this ECL sensor exhibited excellent analytical capability for detecting Pb2+ in actual water samples, providing a method for detecting other heavy metal ions as well.

Abstract
A heterogeneous photocatalyst, MgFe2O4/UiO-67 (MU-x), was successfully synthesized by doping magnetic magnesium ferrite nanoparticles (MgFe2O4) with the UiO-67 metal-organic framework at various weight ratios (MgFe2O4: UiO-67 at 30, 50, 70, and 90 wt %). Various techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) , Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), photoluminescence (PL), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS), were used to characterize the prepared photocatalysts. The photocatalytic performance of MU-x in the degradation of ciprofloxacin (CIP) under visible light was assessed. The CIP degradation efficiency was found to increase as the amount of MgFe2O4 in the composite was increased up to 70 wt %. Experimental conditions were optimized using response surface methodology (RSM) based on central composite design (CCD) with three factors: initial pH, catalyst loading, and CIP concentration. Using the obtained model, the optimal conditions were determined as follows: initial pH of 8.025, catalyst loading of 33.8 wt %, and CIP concentration of 10.8 mg/L. Under these optimal conditions, a notable improvement was achieved, with 99.62% of CIP removal achieved within 90 min, surpassing the performance of previously reported photocatalysts. Total organic carbon (TOC) analysis revealed a high degree of mineralization, at 81.25%. The degradation pathway of CIP was investigated based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) analysis. Finally, the values of ECB and EVB of the photocatalyst were determined and the possible degradation mechanism of CIP was investigated based on Mott-Schottky and the applied scavengers. The hydroxyl radical (•OH) was identified as the dominant species in the removal of CIP through a trapping experiment. The photocatalyst with 70 wt % of MgFe2O4 (MU-70) exhibited excellent stability and recoverability with an external magnet, demonstrating 86.33% CIP removal after four cycles. According to the obtained results, MU-70 is a promising visible-light-active photocatalyst with great potential for water treatment applications and convenient recovery.

Abstract
Herein, electrochemically assisted dissolution-deposition (EADD) is utilized over a three-electrode assembly to prepare an electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Cyclic voltammetry is performed to yield atomistic loading of platinum (Pt) over SnS2 nanostructures via Pt dissolution from the counter electrode (CE). Astonishingly, the working electrode (WE) swept at 50 mV/s is found to compel Pt CE to experience 1000-3000 mV/s. The effect of different potential scan rates at the WE have provided insight into the change in Pt dissolution and its deposition behaviour over SnS2 in three electrode assembly. However, uncontrolled overpotentials at CE in a three-electrode assembly made Pt dissolution-deposition behavior complex. Here, for the first time, we have demonstrated bi-potentiodynamic control for dissolution deposition of Pt in four-electrode assembly over Nickel (Ni) foam. The dual cyclic voltammetry is applied to achieve better control and efficiency of the EADD process, engendering it as a pragmatically versatile and scalable synthesis technique.

Abstract
The special physicochemical properties of Bi2S3 nanomaterial endow it to be exceptional NO2 sensing properties. However, sensors based on pure Bi2S3 cannot detect trace NO2 at room temperature effectively due to the scanty active sites and poor charge transfer efficiency. Herein, vacancy defect and heterostructure engineering are rationally integrated to explore BiOCl/Bi2S3-x heterostructure with rich S vacancies to enhance NO2 sensing performance. The optimized sensor based on S-vacancy-rich BiOCl/Bi2S3-x heterostructure exhibited a high response value (Rg/Ra = 29.1) to 1 ppm NO2 at room temperature, which was about 17 times compared to the pristine Bi2S3. Meanwhile, the BiOCl/Bi2S3-x sensor also exhibited a short response time (36 s) towards 1 ppm NO2 and a low theoretical detection limit (2 ppb). The superior response value of S-vacancy-rich BiOCl/Bi2S3-x heterostructures was ascribed to the improved electron migration at the heterointerface and the additional exposed active sites caused by the S vacancies in Bi2S3-x. Additionally, the sensors based on S-vacancy-rich BiOCl/Bi2S3-x heterostructures showed good long-term stability, outstanding selectivity, and good flexibility. This study offers an effective method for synergistically engineering defect and heterostructure to enhance gas sensing properties at room temperature.

Abstract
Effective removal of kinetically inert dilute nitrogen oxide (NO, ppb) without NO2 emission is still a challenging topic in environmental pollution control. One effective approach to reducing the harm of NO is the construction of photocatalysts with diversified microstructures and atomic arrangements that could promote adsorption, activation, and complete removal of NO without yielding secondary pollution. Herein, microstructure regulations of ZnO photocatalysts were attempted by altering the reaction temperature and alkalinity in a unique ionic liquid-based solid-state synthesis and further investigated for the removal of dilute NO upon light irradiation. Microstructure observations indicated that as-tuned photocatalysts displayed unique nucleation, diverse morphologies (spherical nanoparticles, short and long nanorods), defect-related optical characteristics, and enhanced carrier separations. Such defect-related surface-interface aspects, especially Vo″-related defects of ZnO devoted them to the 4.16-fold enhanced NO removal and 2.76 magnitude order decreased NO2 yields, respectively. Improved NO removal and toxic product inhabitation in as-tuned ZnO was disclosed by mechanistic exploitations. It was revealed that regulated microstructures, defect-related charge carrier separation, and strengthened surface interactions were beneficial to active species production and molecular oxygen activation in ZnO, subsequently contributing to the improved NO removal and simultaneous avoidance of NO2 formation. This investigation shed light on the facile regulation of microstructures and the roles of surface chemistry in the oxidation of low concentration NO in the ppb level upon light illumination.

Abstract
Photocatalytic CO2 reduction utilizing solar energy is a clean, environment-friendly strategy converting CO2 into hydrocarbon fuels to solve the energy crisis and climate issues. Herein, we report the synthesis of Cu-doped SnS2 nanosheets via a simple hydrothermal method. The prepared Cu-doped SnS2 composite displays superior photocatalytic CO2 reduction activity. The optimized CH3OH yield of the composite is two times higher than that of pure SnS2. The enhanced photocatalytic performance is attributed to effective charge separation resulting from the thinner nanosheets and delocalization of electrons from SnS2 to Cu, high visible light utilization efficiency, enlarged SBET, negative shift of the flat-band potential and reduced charge transfer resistance with the introduction of Cu atoms. This work suggests the potential application of Cu-doped SnS2 in photocatalytic CO2 reduction.

Abstract
In this study, a novel direct Z-scheme SnS2 quantum dots/sulfur-doped polyimide (SQDs/SPI) photocatalyst was firstly fabricated by an in situ crystallization growth of SnS2 quantum dots on sulfur-doped polyimide through a facile hydrothermal method. The photocatalytic hydrogen production activity of 5SQDs/SPI samples reached 3526 μmoL g-1 in the coexistence of triethanolamine and methanol used as hole sacrificial agents, which is about 13 times higher than that of SPI under the same conditions and 42 times higher than that of SPI only as a hole sacrificial agent. The improvement can be related to the direct Z-scheme charge transfer in the tight interface between SQDs and SPI, which promoted rapid separation and significantly prolonged the lifetime of photoexcited carriers. The Z-scheme charge transfer mechanism was proposed. This discovery comes up with a new strategy for the development of an efficient, environmentally friendly, and sustainable sulfide quantum dots/polymer non-noble metal photocatalyst.

Abstract
Herein, a highly efficient Z-scheme SnS2/MIL-88B (Fe) (SnSFe) heterojunction was successfully synthesized to use both as photocatalysts and persulfate (PS) activator for ibuprofen (IBP) degradation. Flower-liked SnS2 was uniformly loaded on MIL-88B (Fe), and SnSFe retained the original polyhedral morphology of MIL-88B (Fe). The highest removal of IBP was achieved in the presence of SnSFe with 0.5% SnS2(SnSFe0.5). Characteristic results and density functional theory calculations demonstrated that the enhanced degradation of IBP was due to the difference in Fermi energy levels of SnS2 and MIL-88B (Fe) leading to electrons transferred from SnS2 to MIL-88B (Fe), and SnO bond was formed in SnSFe. , OH and O2- were the main active species in SnSFe0.5/PS/visible light system. Z-scheme heterojunction of SnSFe was constructed to propose the degradation mechanism. This research revealed that the synergism of photocatalysis and PS activation using SnS2/Fe-based MOFs composites possessed great potentials in wastewater remediation.

Abstract
Semiconductor photocatalysis is considered one of the most promising technologies for water purification from toxic organic dyes. However, to reliably evaluate the possibility of using a given material as a photocatalyst, it is crucial to investigate not only the photocatalytic activity but also its affinity towards various dyes and reusability. In this work, we studied the adsorptive/photocatalytic properties of hollow-spherical raspberry-like SnO2 and its SnO2/SnS2 heterostructures that were obtained via a chemical conversion method using three different concentrations of a sulfide precursor (thioacetamide). The adsorptive/photocatalytic properties of the samples towards cationic rhodamine B (RhB) and anionic indigo carmine (IC) were analyzed using uncommon wall zeta potential measurements, hydrodynamic diameter studies, and adsorption/photodecomposition tests. Moreover, after conducting cyclic experiments, we investigated the (micro)structural changes of the reused photocatalysts by scanning electron microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. The obtained results revealed that the sensitization of SnO2 resulted not only in the significantly enhanced photocatalytic performance of the heterostructures, but also completely changed their affinity towards dyes. Furthermore, despite the seemingly best photocatalytic performance, the sample with the highest SnS2 content was unstable due to its (micro)structure. This work demonstrates that dye adsorption/desorption processes may overlap the results of cyclic photodecomposition kinetics.

Abstract
As a promising alternative to lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), rechargeable sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) are attracting enormous attention due to the abundance of sodium. However, the lack of high-performance sodium anode materials limits the commercialization of SIBs. In this work, the dual enhancement of SnS2/graphene anodes in sodium storage is achieved through S-compositing and Co doping via an innovative one-step hydrothermal reaction at a relatively low temperature of 120 °C. The as-prepared 7% Co-SnS2/S@r-G composite consisting of 15.4 wt % S and 1.49 atom % Co shows both superior cycling stability (over 1000 cycles) and rate capability, giving high reversible specific capacities of 878, 608, and 470 mAh g-1 at 0.2, 5, and 10 A g-1, respectively. More encouragingly, the full-cell also exhibits an outstanding long-term cycling performance under 0.5 A g-1, which delivers a reversible capacity of 500 mAh g-1 over 200 cycles and still retains a high reversible capacity of 432 mAh g-1 over 400 cycles. The enhancement mechanism is attributed to the favorable three-dimensional structure of the composite, Co doping, and S-composition, which can induce a synergistic effect.

Abstract
The nanoflakes of SnS2/SnO2heterostructure and SnS2were synthesized by a one-step SnO2-templated chemical vapor deposition method. The metal oxide-assisted growth mechanism of SnS2/SnO2heterostructure and SnS2nanoflakes were realized through investigating serial microstructures of products with varied growth time. Furthermore, the photocatalytic activity for MB dyes degradation of varied growth time products was used to explore the effect of product microstructure under the visible light irradiation. The SnO2/SnS2heterostructure and the oxide vacancies of nanoflakes demonstrated an improved visible light photocatalytic performance for MB degradation, which was around twice of the pure SnS2nanoflakes and better than P25. The results of different scavengers on the degradation efficiency for MB indicate the·O2-, and ·OH are the main active species in the photodegradation reaction. The one-step growth mechanism of SnS2/SnO2could prove a facile process to grow metal oxide-metal sulfide heterostructure.

Abstract
Considering the high environmental risk, the remediation of veterinary drug pollutants aroused numerous concerning. In this paper, a novel photocatlyst, SnO2/SnIn4S8, was fabricated by in situ precipitation and hydrothermal method and then employed to simulate photocatalytic degradation of olaquindox under visible light. The SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS and electrochemical results clearly showed that the n-type heterojunction between SnO2 and SnIn4S8 was successfully constructed, which greatly reduce the recombination of the photogenic electron and holes, leading to the improvement of photocalytic performance and stability (recycled over 10 times). Besides, the SnO2/SnIn4S8 composite also exhibited good ability to mineralize the olaquindox. Under the optimal condition (pH of 3, 1 g L-1 of 30 wt% SnO2/SnIn4S8 and 10 mg L-1 of initial olaquindox concentration), the olaquindox could be fully and rapidly degraded in 25 min, and completely mineralized in 2 h (99.3 ± 1.7%). LC-QTOF-MS analysis evidently displayed 10 intermediates during the olaquindox degradation. In addition, with the attack of the reactive oxygen species (h+, •OH and •O2-), olaquindox could be effectively decomposed via deoxygenation, hydroxylation and carboxylation reactions. Importantly, compared to photodegradation, the photocatalytic process was an ideal way to eliminate the olaquindox form water because it could avoid the accumulation of toxic byproducts.

Abstract
Heterojunction photocatalysts have attracted a significant amount of attention due to their advantages over a single photocatalyst and, particularly, their superior spatial charge separation. Herein, the BiVO4/Bi2S3/SnS2 heterojunction was synthesized via solvothermal synthesis with different ratios of BiVO4 to SnS2. The photodegradation rate of the 0.03 BiVO4/SnS2 sample for rhodamine B removal is 2.3 times or 2.9 times greater than that of a single SnS2 or BiVO4, respectively. The chemical bond between photocatalysts is confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and the synchronized shift observed in binding energies strongly indicates the electron screening effect at the heterojunction. A Z-scheme model is proposed to explain charge transfer pathway in the system, in which the formation of Bi2S3 plays a crucial role in the enhanced photocatalytic performance of the heterojunction.

Abstract
Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) play central roles in the regulation of tumor growth. TAMs can be differentiated into M1 and M2 types, which are responsible for the inhibition and growth of tumor tissues, respectively. Recognition of M2-TAMs is significant for the diagnosis and therapy of cancer, which is however severely limited due to the deficiency of selective and sensitive photoelectrochemical sensors. In this work, using Ce doped SnO2/SnS2 nano heterostructure as the highly sensitive platform, a photoelectrochemical sensor enabling the recognition of M2-TAMs was fabricated for the first time. By the decoration of CD163 antibody on the platform, the ultrasensitive photoelectrochemical sensor can selectively detect the CD163 protein on the surface of M2-TAMs. To our best knowledge, this is the first demonstration for recognition of M2-TAMs using photoelectrochemical method. The fabricated cytosensor has ultra-sensitive photocurrent response, applicable biological compatibility, high selectivity and relatively wide linear sensing range (5 × 101 to 1 × 105 cells/ml) with a low detection limit (50 cells/ml) for the detection of M2-TAMS. This kind of PEC cytosensor would provide a novel analysis and detection strategy for M2-TAMs.

Abstract
Although photocatalysis is frequently employed to remove various pollutants in water, it still suffers from low efficiency due to the rapid recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes. In this study, a red phosphorus/tin disulfide (RP/SnS2) composite photocatalyst is fabricated by loading nano-sized RP on flower-like SnS2 films with a facile hydrothermal method. It is noteworthy that the 2D heterojunction formed between SnS2 and RP provided channels for the rapid transfer of photon-generated carriers and their effective separation. Furthermore, the separated electrons can react with absorbed O2 for the generation of superoxide radicals (˙O2 -), thereby impacting the photocatalytic degradation oxidation reaction. The application of photocatalytic synchronous removal of Cr(vi) and RhB over RP/SnS2 was implemented first. Compared with pristine SnS2, the photocatalytic degradation activity of Cr(vi) and RhB over the RP/SnS2 composite was significantly enhanced and the kinetic rate constant reached 8.2, which is 10.8 times that of pristine SnS2. Moreover, the hybrid photocatalysts exhibited prominent reusability and stability. Therefore, a photocatalytic degradation mechanism and pathway of carriers are proposed in the study. Furthermore, it is considered that the present study is a promising method in the treatment of wastewater by photocatalysis.

Abstract
A Z-scheme photocatalytic water-splitting system is an effective approach to integrate the advantages both hydrogen- and oxygen-evolution photocatalysts. The interfacial properties of the heterojunctions have a great influence on the efficiency through the crystal orientation and the charge kinetics. In this study, a general chemical vapor deposition process and a gentle cation-exchange method were combined to assemble Z-scheme photocatalysts between CdS and MnS. As a result of the well-defined heterojunction interfaces and distinctive structural benefits, without cocatalysts, the 1 D CdS/MnS hybrid photocatalyst exhibited a significantly increased photocatalytic H2 evolution rate of 1595 μmol h-1 g-1 (apparent quantum efficiency of 22.6 % at λ=420 nm), which is over 10.5 times higher than that of CdS. Moreover, a better photocatalytic stability is demonstrated over particulate (42 h cycling measurement) and photoelectrochemical (3000 min continuous measurement) systems. Overall, this work provides a unique experimental insight into high-quality heterojunction interface design and new Z-scheme photocatalyst synthesis.

Abstract
Layered transition metal phosphorous trichalcogenide (MPX3) materials have attracted immense attention due to their excellent optical and electrical properties. However, the controllable synthesis of ultrathin MPX3 nanosheets is still challenging. Here, we present a facile phosphosulfurization scheme to prepare high-quality layered FePS3 nanosheets, with ∼20 nanometers in thickness. The optical properties of the as-obtained FePS3 show good light-harvesting ability, which endows it with excellent photocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance (402.4 μmol g-1 h-1) under the simulated solar illumination. We further show that other MPX3 family members such as In2/3PS3 and CdPS3 can be also synthesized by the same approach. Our finding can offer a feasible approach for rationally designing other MPX3 materials for various applications.

Abstract
Nanomaterials with many improved properties have been used in versatile applications. Herein we have synthesized SnO2 NPs doped with transition metal ions such as Zn2+, Mn2+ and Co2+ through a facile and inexpensive hydrothermal approach. The synthesized nanomaterials were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM and UV-Vis analysis. The optical properties of the NPs were characterized by using UV–vis and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PLS). Their photocatalytic performances were investigated by degrading methylene blue (MB) dye with UV irradiation. Transition metal doping to SnO2 NPs improved the photocatalytic activity to degradation of methylene blue dye due to tuning of band gap energy i.e. lowering of band gap energy compared to undoped SnO2 NPs. The results suggest that the synthesized NPs could be used efficiently for remediation/degradation of environmentally hazardous dyes from waste water or environmental cleanup.

Abstract
Photocatalytic pathways are proved crucial for the sustainable production of chemicals and fuels required for a pollution-free planet. Electron-hole recombination is a critical problem that has, so far, limited the efficiency of the most promising photocatalytic materials. Here, the efficacy of the 0D N doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs) is demonstrated in accelerating the charge separation and transfer and thereby boosting the activity of a narrow-bandgap SnS2 photocatalytic system. N-CQDs are in situ loaded onto SnS2 nanosheets in forming N-CQDs/SnS2 composite via an electrostatic interaction under hydrothermal conditions. Cr(VI) photoreduction rate of N-CQDs/SnS2 is highly enhanced by engineering the loading contents of N-CQDs, in which the optimal N-CQDs/SnS2 with 40 mol% N-CQDs exhibits a remarkable Cr(VI) photoreduction rate of 0.148 min-1 , about 5-time and 148-time higher than that of SnS2 and N-CQDs, respectively. Examining the photoexcited charges via zeta potential, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), surface photovoltage, and electrochemical impedance spectra indicate that the improved Cr(VI) photodegradation rate is linked to the strong electrostatic attraction between N-CQDs and SnS2 nanosheets in composite, which favors efficient carrier utilization. To further boost the carrier utilization, 4-nitrophenol is introduced in this photocatalytic system and the efficiency of Cr(VI) photoreduction is further promoted.

Abstract
Metal sulfide photocatalysts are typically required during water splitting to produce hydrogen. However, the rapid recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs in these highly unstable photocatalysts has restricted hydrogen production to small-scale batch reactions. In this work, porous transition-metal thiophosphites were used to enable continuous long-term hydrogen production through photocatalysis. A wide bandgap (2.04 eV) was essential for generating hydrogen at a rate of 305.6 μmol h-1 g-1 , 180 % faster than nonporous FePS3 nanosheets. More importantly, the high in-plane stiffness of these approximately 7 nm thick porous FePS3 nanosheets ensured structural stability during 56 h of continuous photocatalysis reactions. The reaction results with D2 O instead of H2 O indicated that hydrogen mainly came from H2 O. Furthermore, a sacrificial reagent (triethylamine) was photodegraded into diethylamine and acetaldehyde through a monoelectronic oxidation process, as indicated by HPLC and LC-MS. This synthesis strategy reported for FePS3 porous nanosheets paves a new pathway for designing other dianion-based inorganic nanocrystals for hydrogen energy applications.
