Abstract
An in situ hydrolysis of the P-Cl bonds of the carbophosphazene [{NC(NMe2)}2{NPCl2}] (LPCl2) in the presence of hydrated lanthanide(III) nitrates in a dichloromethane and methanol (2 : 1) solvent mixture afforded a series of novel 1D coordination polymers: [{Ln(LHPO2)3(NO3)2(CH3OH)(H2O)} (Cl)]n {where Ln(III) = Gd (1), Tb (2), Dy (3), or Er (4) and LHPO2 is the hydrolyzed carbophosphazene (LPCl2) ligand}. X-ray crystallographic analysis revealed that complexes 1-4 are isostructural and crystallized in the monoclinic crystal system having P21/c space group. The coordination polymers are formed because of the involvement of the geminal P(O)(OH) moieties of the carbophosphazene ligand. Each lanthanide(III) ion is 9-coordinate (9O) in a distorted muffin geometry. Magnetic measurements revealed that both DyIII and ErIII analogues exhibit field-induced single-molecule magnet (SMM) behavior at 0.8 kOe and 2.2 k Oe, respectively. At such dc fields, the dynamic magnetic susceptibility displays complex behavior with a triple magnetic relaxation contribution for 3, while two contributions were identified for 4. The observed static and dynamic magnetic behavior for complexes 1-4 were further rationalized with the aid of BS-DFT and CASSCF/SO-RASSI/SINGLE_ANISO calculations.

Abstract
In this work, new ethyl(E)-2-cyano-3-(1H-pyrrol-2-yl)acrylate appended C3-symmetric star-shape triaminoguanidine based Schiff base (LH3) was designed and synthesized from simple synthons. New probe, LH3 was completely analyzed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectrum. In the present probe LH3, effective π-conjugated ethyl(E)-2-cyano-acrylate unit was introduced on the periphery of the pyrrole-triaminoquanidine conjugates by using carefully chosen building units. The probe LH3 shows high selectivity and sensitivity towards Zn2+ ion via colorimetric and fluorometric changes. The yellowish orange color of LH3 solution turned to wine red color upon addition of Zn2+ solution, along with red shifted absorption maxima from 450 nm to 550 nm, this indicates the formation of LH3-Zn2+ species. Job's plot and mass spectrum analysis confirms the formation of 1:3 stoichiometric complex between the LH3 and Zn2+ ions. Further this ensemble shows selective detection towards PPi anion over the other anions based on displacement metal ion approach. Hence, reversible colorimetric/emission response of LH3 towards Zn2+ and PPi ions via "on-off-on" manner could allow the construction of IMPLICATION logic gate functions. The practical efficacy of the probe LH3 was established by utilization of the probe for the detection of Zn2+ ions in real water sample analysis. Further, the significant noticeable colorimetric changes of the probe LH3 upon addition of Zn2+ ion have been successfully integrated with a smartphone app RGB color value to construct a real-time analysis of Zn2+ ions.

Abstract
The design and construction of novel C3-symmetric triaminoguanidine-triphenylamine conjugate (L) has been demonstrated and it displays positive solvatochromic behaviour with an increase in solvent polarity. The probe L acts as a selective colorimetric sensor for Cu2+ ions over other metal ions. Further, it shows high selective and sensitive detection of Fe3+ ions through turn-on fluorescence response. Moreover, the detection limits for Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions were found to be within the allowable range of the World Health Organisation (30 μM). The real-time application of the probe was showed by paper strip experiments as well as detection of Fe3+ ions in pharmaceutical tablets.

Abstract
The search for functional materials, for example those aiming at microelectronics, magnetic recording, and catalysis, often ventures into mixed metal systems to achieve optimization of the properties. Thus, understanding site preference and self-organization is crucial but hard to implement. Herein, we present a system whereby MgII, MnII, and MnIII ions selectively locate exact positions within the Brucite-structured cluster, Mn13Mg6, [MnIII⊂MgII6⊂MnII9MnIII3( L)18(OH)12(N3)6](ClO4)6·12CH3CN, H L = 1-(hydroxymethyl)-3,5-dimethylpyrazolate). The MnIII being small (78 pm) takes up the core position; while 6 MgII (86 pm) are located in the inner ring, and the 9 large MnII (97 pm) and 3 MnIII occupy the outer ring. The factors (a) ionic radii, (b) regularity in coordination geometry, oxophilicity, and softness of MgII compared to MnII, and (c) Jahn-Teller distortion of MnIII may all be implicated synergistically. Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry reveals the M19 disc remains an integral unit when crystals are dissolved, and exchange between Mg and Mn occurs within the disc during its formation. Diamagnetic MgII doping insulates the magnetic exchange between the central MnIII and those in the outer ring, thus giving an overall antiferromagnetic exchange interaction between nearest-neighbors of the outer ring. The work reveals the underlying rule for site-preference of main group metal versus transition metal in disc-like Brucite-structured cluster and provides an elegant new avenue to assemble heterometallic clusters in a stepwise fashion.

Abstract
A cyclometalated Ir(III) complex, [Ir(ppy)2(LH)] (2) [LH2 = 1,2-bis(pyridine-2-carboxamido)benzene; ppyH = 2-phenylpyridine] was synthesized and structurally characterized. [Ir(ppy)2(LH)] contains free donor sites and functions as a metalloligand. Accordingly, it interacts with a Cu(II) salt to afford the heterometallic tetranuclear complex, [{Ir(ppy)2(L)}2{Cu2Cl2}] (3). In the latter, a Cu2Cl2 dimer bridges the two cyclometalated Ir(III) units, resulting in a IrIII-CuII-CuII-IrIII motif. 2 also functions as a selective and reversible sensor for Cu2+, as revealed by quenching of its emission and subsequent revival of the luminescence signal upon addition of EDTA.

Abstract
Utilizing a new ferrocene-based compartmental ligand, H4L (1), a series of novel heterometallic complexes [{LZn(μ-OAc)Dy}4(μ4-H2O)] (2), [{LZn(μ-OAc)Tb}4(μ4-H2O)] (3), [{LZn(μ-OAc)Ho}4(μ4-H2O)] (4), [L = Fe[(C5H4){-C(Me)[double bond, length as m-dash]N-N[double bond, length as m-dash]C6H3-(o-O)(m-O)}]2] were synthesized and characterized. 2 and 3 crystallize in the monoclinic crystal system in the I2/m space group, whereas 4 crystallizes in the tetragonal crystal system in the I4/m space group. The tetra deprotonated ligand L4- has two distinct coordination compartments: one pocket (2N, 2O) suitable for the transition metal (3d) ions and another pocket (4O) suitable for lanthanide (4f) metal ions. Additionally, the terminal phenoxo group can be utilized for cluster expansion. In all the complexes, the ZnII ion is in a perfect square pyramidal (2N, 3O) geometry whereas the lanthanide ion has a coordination number of eight (8O) in a distorted biaugmented trigonal-prism geometry. The electrochemical properties of 2 and 3 along with ligand H4L (1) were studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV). All the complexes display a similar type of electrochemical behavior viz., one quasi-reversible oxidation typical of a ferrocene/ferrocenium motif. The magnetic properties of all the complexes have also been investigated.

Abstract
AbstractThe versatile reactivity of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene (N3P3Cl6) has been developed for the synthesis of specifically engineered dendrimers. Dendrimers are hyperbranched macromolecules built by concentric layers constituted of associated monomeric units. Many of the properties of dendrimers depend on the type of their surface (terminal) functions, which are generally all identical. For some specific purposes, it is desirable to have one function that is different at the level of the core. Hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene offers the possibility to differentiate the reactivity of one (or more) Cl from the others, for producing specifically engineered dendritic tools. These specific reactions on N3P3Cl6 have produced highly dense dendrimers, Janus dendrimers (two faces), tools for functionalizing materials, with uses as catalysts, as chemical sensors, for trapping CO2, for the culture of cells, or for imaging biological events. These properties will be emphasized in this review.

Abstract
The coordination behaviour of hexakis(3-pyridyloxy)cyclophosphazene (L) towards divalent metal ions is described. The reaction of L with hydrated metal nitrates afforded [{N3P3(O-C5H4N-3)6}2{Zn(H2O)3(NO3)}2{Zn(H2O)2(NO3)}2]n[NO3]2n·4nH2O·nCH3OH (1), [{N3P3(O-C5H4N-3)6}2{Zn(H2O)3(NO3)}2{Cu(NO3)}2]n[NO3]2n·4nH2O·nCH3CN (2), [{N3P3(O-C5H4N-3)6}2{(NO3)Cd-(μ-(NO3)-Cd(NO3)2(μ-(NO3)Cd(NO3)}]n·2nCH3OH·3nH2O (3), and [{N3P3(O-C5H4N-3)6}2{Cd(H2O)3(NO3)}2][NO3]2·9H2O (4). 1 and 2 are one-dimensional coordination polymers while 3 is a two-dimensional coordination polymer. On the other hand 4 is a molecular metallamacrocycle. A common feature of 1-4 is the presence of a 20-membered dimetallamacrocyclic motif constructed through the involvement of a pair of cyclophosphazene ligands through their geminal pyridyloxy substituents. The P-N bond distances in L and its metal complexes 1-4 are nearly the same indicating the flexible nature of the coordination pyridyloxy arms present on the cyclophosphazene scaffold.

Abstract
Hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene is an old compound which affords very new properties in the field of dendrimers. Indeed, it can be used as a branching point for the rapid synthesis of highly dense dendrimers, but also for the synthesis of dendrimers having precisely one function different from all the others. These types of dendrimers are useful in the field of materials, affording highly reusable catalysts, chemical sensors, or supports for cell cultures. However, the most developed uses concern fluorescence. These dendrimers have been used for in vivo imaging, and for trying to elucidate biological mechanisms, in particular for anti-inflammatory dendrimers. This review will display important examples in the field.

Abstract
The Schiff base ligand N1,N3-bis(3-methoxysalicylidene)diethylenetriamine (H(2)valdien) and the co-ligand 6-chloro-2-hydroxypyridine (Hchp) were used to construct two 3d-4f heterometallic single-ion magnets [Co(2) Dy(valdien)2 (OCH(3))(2) (chp)(2)]⋅ClO(4)⋅5 H(2)O 1 and [Co(2) Tb(valdien)(2) (OCH(3))(2)(chp)(2)]⋅ClO(4)⋅(2) H(2)O⋅CH(3)OH(2). The two trinuclear [Co(III) 2 Ln(III)] complexes behave as a mononuclear Ln(III) magnetic system because of the presence of two diamagnetic cobalt(III) ions. Complex 1 has a molecular symmetry center, and it crystallizes in the C2/c space group, whereas complex 2 shows a lower molecular symmetry and crystallizes in the P(2)1/c space group. Magnetic investigations indicated that both complexes are field-induced single-ion magnets, and the Co(III)(2)-Dy(III) complex possesses a larger energy barrier [74.1(4.2) K] than the Co(III)(2) -Tb(III) complex [32.3(2.6) K].

Abstract
Three new two-dimensional Cu(I)-Ln(III) heterometallic coordination polymers [Ln(III)Cu2(I)(Hbpdc)4] · Cl · xH2O [Ln(III) = La(III), x = 8 (1); Ln(III) = Pr(III), x=9 (2); Ln(III) = Eu(III), x = 8 (3)] (H2bpdc = 2,2'-bipyridyl-5,5'-dicarboxylic acid) have been prepared under hydrothermal conditions and structurally characterized by elemental analyses, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) analyses, IR spectra, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray diffraction indicates that the isomorphic 1-3 display the two-dimensional sheet structure constructed from [Cu(I)(Hbpdc)2](-) fragments through Ln(3+) connectors. Moreover, the solid-state photoluminescence measurements of 3 indicate that the Eu(III) ions, Hbpdc(-) ligands and Cu(I) cations make contributions to its luminescent properties simultaneously.
