Abstract
A case of organic-inorganic hybridized phosphotungstate modified using aromatic organophosphonic acid, K4Na4H11[KCo2(H2O)10P4W24O92{(PhPO)2}]·48H2O (1), was successfully synthesized in conventional aqueous solution. The prominent structural feature is that the total structure of [KP4W24O92{(PhPO)2}]23- resembles a V-shaped structure, which was stabilized by two [Co(H2O)5]2+ ions. Furthermore, it can be connected into a three-dimensional mesh structure using K+ ions. Surprisingly, 1 possesses a remarkably high proton conductivity of 1.59 × 10-2 S cm-1 at 95% RH and 318 K probably due to the fact that its structure contains large amounts of lattice water molecules, coordination water molecules and counter cations.

Abstract
The first organofunctionalized mixed-valent polyoxo-30-molybdate wheel, [MoVI18MoV12O84{AsO2(CH3)2}18]18- (Mo30), was synthesized in aqueous, mildly acidic conditions, and upon further acidification, the neutral tetramolybdenum(V) oxo cluster [MoV4O8{AsO2(CH3)2}4] (Mo4) was obtained. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) revealed that Mo30 comprises 18 MoVI and 12 MoV ions arranged in a cyclic fashion with alternating {MoV2} and {MoVI3} groups, which are capped by 18 dimethylarsinate ligands, resulting in a novel polyoxo-30-molybdate wheel with a central cavity of ∼1.5 nm. On the other hand, Mo4 has a distorted-cubic structure, with the corners of the cube being occupied by alternating MoV ions and oxo ligands. The compounds were characterized in solution by 1H and 13C NMR and UV-vis spectroscopy and in the solid state by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and powder XRD. Mo30 represents a novel type of polyanionic cycle with manyfold possibilities regarding host-guest chemistry.

Abstract
Five novel lanthanide-substituted polyoxomolybdates (NH4)5Na3H2[{Ln(H2O)7}2{Mo5O15(1,4-O3PCH2C6H4CH2PO3)}4]·nH2O [Ln = Tb3+ (1), Ho3+ (2), Er3+ (3), Tm3+ (4), Yb3+ (5); n = 33, 32, 41, 30, 47] have been prepared in a conventional aqueous solution reaction of ammonium molybdate with Ln3+ ions and p-xylyenediphosphonic acid. Crystal structure analyses reveal that 1-5 are isomorphic. The prominent architecture characteristic is that their structural units consist of a tetrameric cyclic-shaped [{Mo5O15(1,4-O3PCH2C6H4CH2PO3)}4]16- segment stabilized by two [Ln(H2O)7]3+ cations, which are connected to propagate one-dimensional chain by Ln3+ ions. As is known, compounds 1-5 stand for the first Ln-substituted aromatic-bisphosphonate-functionalized polyoxomolybdates. The solid-state photoluminescence measurement of 1 has been performed at ambient temperature, and it displayed the characteristic emissions of Tb ions based on its 4f-4f transitions. In addition, the magnetic properties of 1-5 compounds show that they all exhibit anti-ferromagnetic interactions.

Abstract
We report on the synthesis and structural characterization of four arylarsonate- and phosphonate-capped polyoxomolybdates that exhibit different organic substituents in the para position of the phenyl group. The reaction of arylarsonates (RAsO3, wherein R = 4-BrC6H4 or 4-N3C6H4) with molybdate in aqueous pH 3.5 media resulted in the cyclic hexamolybdates [(BrC6H4As)2Mo6O24]4- (Mo6As2La) and [(N3C6H4As)2Mo6O24]4- (Mo6As2Lb), whereas the reaction of arylphosphonates (R'PO3, wherein R' = 4-O2CC6H4 or 4-O2CC6H4CH2) with molybdate in aqueous pH 3 media resulted in the cyclic pentamolybdates [(O2CC6H4P)2Mo5O21]6- (Mo5P2Lc) and [(HO2CC6H4CH2P)2Mo5O21]4- (Mo5P2Ld), respectively. Polyanions Mo6As2La and Mo6As2Lb comprise a ring of six MoO6 octahedra that is capped on either side by an organoarsonate group, whereas Mo5P2Lc and Mo5P2Ld consist of a ring of five MoO6 octahedra that is capped on either side by an organophosphonate group, with the organic arms protruding away from the metal-oxo core of the polyanions. All four polyanions Mo6As2La, Mo6As2Lb, Mo5P2Lc, and Mo5P2Ld have been characterized in the solid state by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric and elemental analysis and in solution by multinuclear NMR (31P, 13C, and 1H). The synthetic procedure of (4-bromophenyl)arsonic acid, BrC6H4AsO3H2, is reported here for the first time.

Abstract
The crown-shaped 36-molybdate cluster organophosphonate-functionalized polyoxomolybdates with the highest nuclearity in organophosphonate-based polyoxometalate chemistry, (NH4 )19 Na7 H10 [Cu(H2 O)TeMo6 O21 {N(CH2 PO3 )3 }]6 ⋅31 H2 O, has been reported for the first time. The synthesized 36-molybdate cluster was characterized by routine techniques and tested as a heterogeneous catalyst for selective oxidation of sulfides with impressive catalytic and selective performances after heat treatment. High efficiency (TON=15333) was achieved in the selective oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides, caused by the synergic effect between copper and polyoxomolybdates and the generation of the cuprous species during the heat treatment.

Abstract
The five manganese-containing, Keggin-based tungstosilicates [Mn(II)3(OH)3(H2O)3(A-α-SiW9O34)](7-) (1), [Mn(III)3(OH)3(H2O)3(A-α-SiW9O34)](4-) (2), [Mn(III)3(OH)3(H2O)3(A-β-SiW9O34)](4-) (3), [Mn(III)3Mn(IV)O3(CH3COO)3(A-α-SiW9O34)](6-) (4), and [Mn(III)3Mn(IV)O3(CH3COO)3(A-β-SiW9O34)](6-) (5) were synthesized in aqueous medium by interaction of [A-α-SiW9O34](10-) or [A-β-SiW9O34H](9-) with either MnCl2 (1) or [Mn(III)8Mn(IV)4O12(CH3COO)16(H2O)4] (2-5) under carefully adjusted reaction conditions. The obtained salts of these polyanions were analyzed in the solid state by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. The salts of polyanions 1, 2, and 4 were further characterized in the solid state by magnetic studies, as well as in solution by electrochemistry.

Abstract
Polyoxomolybdates, an important branch in polyoxometalates chemistry, present complicated solution chemistry and unmatched physicochemical properties, which endows us with both great opportunities and considerable challenges in creating new functional materials. This perspective highlights the recent development on the coordination assembly of transition-metal-substituted heteropolymolybdates by using labile lacunary heteropolymolybdates as inorganic multidentate ligands. A series of strategies have been used to stabilize the lacunary heteropolymolybdate building blocks. Finally, we introduce some researches on the modification of polymolybdates by organic groups in aqueous media, which may shed light on the green chemistry of the functionalization of polyoxomolybdates.

Abstract
Reaction of Na(2)Mo(VI)O(4) x 2H(2)O with (NH(4))(2)SO(3) in the mixed-solvent system H(2)O/CH(3)CN (pH = 5) resulted in the formation of the tetranuclear cluster (NH(4))(4)[Mo(4)(VI)SO(16)] x H(2)O (1), while the same reaction in acidic aqueous solution (pH = 5) yielded (NH(4))(4)[Mo(5)(VI)S(2)O(21)] x 3H(2)O (2). Compound {(H(2)bipy)(2)[Mo(5)(VI)S(2)O(21)] x H(2)O}(x) (3) was obtained from the reaction of aqueous acidic solution of Na(2)Mo(VI)O(4) x 2H(2)O with (NH(4))(2)SO(3) (pH = 2.5) and 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy). The mixed metal/sulfite species (NH(4))(7)[Co(III)(Mo(2)(V)O(4))(NH(3))(SO(3))(6)] x 4H(2)O (4) was synthesized by reacting Na(2)Mo(VI)O(4) x 2H(2)O with CoCl(2) x 6H(2)O and (NH(4))(2)SO(3) with precise control of pH (5.3) through a redox reaction. The X-ray crystal structures of compounds 1, 2, and 4 were determined. The structure of compound 1 consists of a ring of four alternately face- and edge-sharing Mo(VI)O(6) octahedra capped by the trigonal pyramidal sulfite anion, while at the base of the Mo(4) ring is an oxo group which is asymmetrically shared by all four molybdenum atoms. Compound 3 is based on the Strandberg-type heteropolyion [Mo(5)(VI)S(2)O(21)](4-), and these coordinatively saturated clusters are joined by diprotonated 4,4'-H(2)bipy(2+) through strong hydrogen bonds. Compound 3 crystallizes in the chiral space group C2. The structure of compound 4 consists of a novel trinuclear [Co(III)Mo(2)(V)SO(3)(2-)] cluster. The chiral compound 3 exhibits nonlinear optical (NLO) and photoluminescence properties. The assignment of the sulfite bands in the IR spectrum of 4 has been carried out by density functional calculations. The cobalt in 4 is a d(6) octahedral low-spin metal atom as it was evidenced by magnetic susceptibility measurements, cw EPR, BVS, and DFT calculations. The IR and solid-state UV-vis spectra as well as the thermogravimetric analyses of compounds 1-4 are also reported.
