Abstract
A series of different cores and nuclearity zinc metal clusters 1-5 have been synthesized using Zn(ClO4)2·6H2O, Schiff-base primary ligands, and dibenzoyl methane (DBM) or monoethanolamine (MEA) as co-ligand in a room-temperature reaction. The structure of the complexes is characterized using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Among them, (1) [Zn(L1)(DBM)] is mononuclear; (2) [Zn4(L2)2(DBM)4], (3) [Zn4(L2)4(H2O)2(ClO4)2]·2CH2Cl2, and (4) [Zn4(L3)2(DBM)4] have a cubane core; and (5) [Zn4(L4)4(MEA)2(ClO4)2] has a ladderlike core structure. Compounds 1-5 have also been characterized using UV-vis absorption and emission spectroscopies. For an in-depth understanding of the absorption spectra of 1 and 3, density functional theory (DFT) calculations have been performed, which suggest that the transitions correspond to the π → π* intraligand charge transfer (ILCT) transitions.

Abstract
A rare homotrinuclear CuII salamo-based complex [Cu3(L)2(μ-OAc)2(H2O)2]·2CHCl3·5H2O was prepared through the reaction of a non-symmetric salamo-based ligand H2L and Cu(OAc)2·H2O, and validated by elemental analyses, UV-Visible absorption, fluorescence and infrared spectra, molecular simulation and single-crystal X-ray analysis techniques. It is shown that three CuII atoms and two wholly deprotonated ligand (L)2− moieties form together a trinuclear 3:2 (M:L) complex with two coordination water molecules and two bi-dentate briging μ-acetate groups (μ-OAc−). Besides, the Hirshfeld surface analysis of the CuII complex was investigated. Compared with other ligands, the fluorescent strength of the CuII complex was evidently lowered, showing that the CuII ions possess fluorescent quenching effect.

Abstract
A new MOC [Zn3(Tz)2(tpa)2(DMSO)4] was synthesized. The cluster representation reveals an interwoven pcu 6/4/c1 sqc1 topological type. The MOC exhibits excellent water stability, recyclability, adsorption and separation abilities toward selected dyes.

Abstract
Much attention has recently focused on helical structures that can change their helicity in response to external stimuli. The requirements for the invertible helical structures are a dynamic feature and well-defined structures. In this context, helical metal complexes with a labile coordination sphere have a great advantage. There are several types of dynamic helicity controls, including the responsive helicity inversion. In this review article, dynamic helical structures based on oligo(salamo) metal complexes are described as one of the possible designs. The introduction of chiral carboxylate ions into Zn3La tetranuclear structures as an additive is effective to control the P/M ratio of the helix. The dynamic helicity inversion can be achieved by chemical modification, such as protonation/deprotonation or desilylation with fluoride ion. When (S)-2-hydroxypropyl groups are introduced into the oligo(salamo) ligand, the helicity of the resultant complexes is sensitively influenced by the metal ions. The replacement of the metal ions based on the affinity trend resulted in a sequential multistep helicity inversion. Chiral salen derivatives are also effective to bias the helicity; by incorporating the gauche/anti transformation of a 1,2-disubstituted ethylene unit, a fully predictable helicity inversion system was achieved, in which the helicity can be controlled by the molecular lengths of the diammonium guests.

Abstract
A novel hexanuclear Co(II) coordination compound with a nonsymmetrical Salamo-type bisoxime ligandH4L, namely [{Co3(HL)(MeO)(MeOH)2(OAc)2}2]·2MeOH, was prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, UV–vis, IR and fluorescence spectra, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis. Each Co(II) is hexacoordinated, and possesses a distorted CoO6 or CoO4N2 octahedrons. The Co(II) coordination compound possesses a self-assembled infinite 2D supramolecular structure with the help of the intermolecular C–H···O interactions. Meanwhile, the photophysical properties of the Co(II) coordination compound were studied.

Abstract
Abstract
The tetranuclear Zn(II) complex, [{ZnL(μ-OAc)Zn(CH3CH2CH2OH)}2], derived from an asymmetrical Salamo-type chelate ligand H3L (5-methoxy-6′-hydroxy-2,2′-[ethanedioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol) has been synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, X-ray crystallography, UV/Vis and fluorescence spectra. The structure is made up of four Zn(II) atoms, μ
2-coordinated acetate ions and two coordinated n-propanol molecules, and forms an infinite one-dimensional supramolecular structure via intermolecular C–H···π interactions. The four Zn(II) atoms are penta-coordinated and show slightly distorted trigonal bipyramidal and tetragonal pyramidal symmetries.

Abstract
Two newly designed complexes, [Zn(L1)(EtOH)] (1) and [{Zn(L2)(OAc)2}2Zn]·CHCl3 (2) derived from salamo and half-salamo chelating ligands (H2L1 and HL2) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR and UV-VIS spectra, fluorescence spectra, and X-ray crystallography. Complex 1 shows a slightly distorted tetragonal pyramid and forms an infinite 3D supramolecular structure. All of the Zn(II) ions in complex 2 are hexa-coordinated with slightly distorted octahedral geometries. Complex 2 possesses an infinite 2D space structure. The fluorescence titration experiments were used to characterize fluorescence properties of complexes 1 and 2. And the normalized fluorescent spectra exhibit that complexes 1 and 2 have favourable fluorescent emissions in different solvents.

Abstract
This paper reports the syntheses of two new complexes, [Co(L1)(H2O)2] (1) and [{Zn(L2)(μ-OAc)Zn(n-PrOH)}2] (2), from asymmetric halogen-substituted Salamo-type ligands H2L1 and H3L2, respectively. Investigation of the crystal structure of complex 1 reveals that the complex includes one Co(II) ion, one (L1)2− unit and two coordinated water molecules. Complex 1 shows slightly distorted octahedral coordination geometry, forming an infinite 2D supramolecular structure by intermolecular hydrogen bond and π–π stacking interactions. Complex 2 contains four Zn(II)ions, two completely deprotonated (L2)3− moieties, two coordinated μ-OAc− ions and n-propanol molecules. The Zn(II) ions in complex 2 display slightly distorted trigonal bipyramidal or square pyramidal geometries.

Abstract
A series of [ZnIILnIII] complexes (Ln = Sm, Eu, Tb and Dy) are synthesized by Salamo-type ligand H2L. Only [ZnIISmIII] shows the characteristic transitions of Sm3+ ion, indicating the effective energy transfer between the ligand and Sm3+ ion.

Abstract
Two metallocycles, {Cu8(bp)4(OH)4(H2O)4(ClO4)4} (1) and {Cu20(bp)20} (2), were afforded by the reactions of the semi-flexible tridentate ligand bis(2-hydroxybenzyl)amine (H2bp) with Cu(ClO4)2·6H2O and Cu(OAc)2·H2O. Complex 1 has a saddle-shaped cyclic structure and complex 2 has a nanosized wheel-shaped structure. The two compounds consist of [Cu(bp)] units.
