Abstract
The importance of three synthesized metallogels of suberic acid distinctly with nickel, zinc, and cadmium acetate salts has been uncovered. For the creation of these soft materials, N,N'-dimethyl formamide was utilized as a source of the trapped solvent. The synthesized metallogels display intriguing viscoelasticity, and the interpretation of experimental parameters obtained from rheological results advocates the gel behavior. Microstructural analysis combined with energy-dispersive X-ray confirms the occurrence of individual gel-developing constituents as observed in different hierarchical microstructural patterns. Significant variations in microstructural arrangements with diverse extent of supramolecular non-covalent patterns inside gel networks were perceived through field emission scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy analyses. Fourier transform infrared and electrospray ionization-mass spectral analyses and powder X-ray diffraction analysis of metallogel samples of different gel-establishing ingredients help to investigate the possible supramolecular interactions dictating the metallogel scaffolds. Thermogravimetric analysis of xerogel samples was collected from the synthesized metallogels to understand the thermal stability. These gel materials were characterized by their potential antibacterial efficiency. The potency of metallogels against selective Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria was visualized via a spectrophotometer. Human pathogens like Klebsiella pneumoniae (MTCC 109), Salmonella typhi (MTCC 733), Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Bacillus cereus (MTCC 1272), Lactobacillus fermentum (NCDO 955), and Staphylococcus aureus (MTCC 96) are employed in this study. Apart from the biological significance, our metallogels demonstrate as incredible diode performance of fabricated semiconducting systems, which exhibit a considerable amount of non-linearity demonstrating a non-ohmic conduction mechanism at room temperature in dark conditions. Device fabrication was achieved from these metallogels employing the sandwich model with indium tin oxide-coated glass substrates/metallogel/Al structure.

Abstract
Low-molecular-weight gels have great potential for use in a variety of fields, including petrochemicals, healthcare, and tissue engineering. These supramolecular gels are frequently metastable, implying that their properties are kinetically controlled to some extent. Here, we report on the in situ supramolecular gel formation by mixing 1,3-cyclohexane diamine (1) and isocyanate derivative (2) without any catalysis at room temperature in various organic solvents. A mixture of building blocks 1 and 2 in various organic solvents, dichloromethane, tetrahydrofuran, chloroform, toluene, and 1,4-dioxane, resulted in the stable formation of supramolecular gel at room temperature within 60-100 s. This gel formation was caused by the generation of urea moieties, which allows for the formation of intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions via reactions 1 and 2. In situ supramolecular gels demonstrated a typical entangled fiber structure with a width of 600 nm and a length of several hundred μm. In addition, the supramolecular gels were thermally reversible by heating and cooling. The viscoelastic properties of supramolecular gels in strain and frequency sweets were enhanced by increasing the concentration of a mixed 1 and 2. Furthermore, the supramolecular gels displayed a thixotropic effect, indicating a thermally reversible gel.

Abstract
The Salicylaldehyde azine (H2SA) and 2,2'-[1,4-Phenylenebis{(E)-nitrilomethylidyne}] bisphenol (H2SPA) with double proton transfer characteristics were synthesized recently (Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., 2018, 20, 23,762). However, the detailed theoretical interpretation of proton transfer (PT) mechanism is inadequate. In the present work, density functional theory (DFT) and time-density functional theory (TDDFT) are employed to study the proton transfer mechanism of H2SA and H2SPA in detail. Bond parameters, infrared (IR) spectra and frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs) calculated by PBE0/TZVP method indicate the strength of hydrogen bond is enhanced in S1 state, which can be visualized by the reduced density gradient (RDG) analysis. The potential energy surfaces (PESs) of H2SA and H2SPA are also constructed. The small barriers indicate that both the single proton transfer and double proton transfer of H2SA and H2SPA are more likely to occur in the S1 state. In addition, the properties of H2SA and H2SPA after chelation with Li+ have also been theoretically characterized. According to the calculated fluorescence spectra of compounds (H2SA-Li+ and H2SPA-Li+), it was found that only the planar structure of H2SA-Li+ can form metallogel, which verified the experimental results.

Abstract
A calixarene-based metal-organic framework (Zr-cal, [Zr6 O4 (OH)4 (FA)6 ]2 (cal)3 ], FA=formate, cal=1,3-alt-25,26,27,28-tetrakis[(carboxy)methoxy]calixarene) was synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The three-dimensional framework is a 4,6-connected network of gar topology and exhibits two equal but nonintersecting three-dimensional pore systems. It has a specific BET surface area of 670 m2 g-1 , and the calixarene cavities are accessible through the pore systems. The exposed calixarenes can be used for the visual detection and encapsulation of NO2 through the formation of deeply colored charge-transfer complexes inside the MOF. The highly selective complexation was analyzed by UV/Vis and IR spectroscopy, and the stability of the material was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction and 1 H NMR spectroscopy. Finally, the MOF was used as a sensor material in a home-made sensor cell and showed high sensitivity for NO2 .

Abstract
Stimulus-responsive molecular gel systems, based on metal salts of a luminescent gelator, 9,10-dioxooctadecanoic acid (DODA), are reported. These salts are structurally the simplest metallo-gelators of which we are aware that exhibit controllable mechano-responsive and luminescent properties. Aggregation is more favored by the metal salts than for DODA itself. However, gelation ability differs dramatically depending on the metal ion: whereas the salts with zinc(ii) and calcium(ii) are inefficient gelators, those with nickel(ii) and copper(ii) can gelate various aromatic liquids, alkanes, and long-chained alcohols. Unlike the DODA gels, no aggregation-induced shift in the positions of the emission spectra of the metal salts could be observed as the sols were transformed to their gel phases. Gels of both nickel(ii) and copper(ii) salts in benzonitrile are among the few known examples with crystalline networks and exhibiting thixotropic behavior. However, there are significant differences in their abilities to recover the initial viscoelastic properties. Structural data for the solid and gel states lead us to conclude that differences among the gelating abilities can be attributed principally to the specific nature of interactions of the salts at their head groups. They appear to control the mechanical and emissive properties of the gels as well as whether the initial aggregation of the salts in the sol phases will support the growth of 1D objects that are capable of maintaining strong contacts, leading to 3D networks and gel formation. Overall, the results provide a facile strategy for the design of luminescent materials with controllable mechano-responsiveness by modifying the metal ions within fibrillar assemblies.

Abstract
We report the correlation between the fluorescence intensity and the helical pitch of supramolecular hydrogels with Tb(III) and Eu(III) as well as their inkjet printing patterning as an application. The luminescent gels, which exhibited three different emissions of red, green, and blue, could be prepared without and with Eu(III) and Tb(III). The luminescence intensity of supramolecular gels (gel-Tb and gel-Eu) composed of Tb(III) and Eu(III) was ca. 3-fold larger than that of the sol (1+Tb(III) or 1+Eu(III)), which was attributed to large tilting angles between molecules. By AFM observations, these gels showed well-defined right-handed helical nanofibers formed by coordination bonds in which the helical pitch lengths were strongly dependent on the concentrations of lanthanide ions. In particular, the large luminescence intensity of gel-Tb exhibited a smaller helical pitch length than that of gel-1 due to relatively weak π-π stacking with large tilting angles between molecules. The luminescence intensities were enhanced linearly with increasing concentrations of lanthanide ions. This is the first example of the correlation between the helical pitch length and the luminescence intensity of supramolecular materials. The coordination bonding in supramolecular hydrogels had a strong influence on rheological properties. We also developed a water-compatible inkjet printing system to generate luminescent supramolecular gels on A4-sized paper. The images of a logo and the text were composed of three different emissions and were well-printed on A4 sized paper coated with gel-1.

Abstract
Dative boron-nitrogen bonds can be used for the controlled assembly of boronate esters and N-donor ligands. So far, most investigations have focused on crystalline assemblies. In contrast, there are very few reports about soft materials based on dative B-N bonds. Here, we describe the formation of gels by aggregation of diboronate esters and ditopic bisimidazolyl donor ligands. Analyses of low molecular weight model compounds by NMR spectroscopy, isothermal titration calorimetry, and X-ray crystallography reveal that imidazolyl ligands form particularly strong dative bonds with boronate esters. The strong interaction allows gel formation in competitive polar solvents such as THF and acetone. In less polar solvents, very low critical gel concentrations of down to 0.02 wt% are observed. By using a diboronate ester linked by an azobenzene group, it is possible to form a photoresponsive gel.

Abstract
Gels are interesting soft materials owing to their functional properties leading to potential applications. This paper deals with the synthesis of monocholesteryl derivatized calix[4]arene (G) and its instantaneous gelation at a minimum gelator concentration of 0.6% in 1:1 v/v THF/acetonitrile. The gel shows remarkable thermoreversibility by exhibiting Tgel→sol at ∼48 °C and is demonstrated for several cycles. The gel shows an organized network of nanobundles, while that of the sol shows spherical nanoaggregates in microscopy. A bundle with ∼12 nm diameter possessing hydrophobic pockets in itself is obtained from computationally modeled gel, and hence the gel is suitable for storage and release applications. The guest-entrapped gels exhibit the same microstructures as that observed with simple gels, while fluorescence spectra and molecular mechanics suggests that the drug molecules occupy the hydrophobic pockets. All the entrapped drug molecules are released into water, suggesting a complete recovery of the trapped species. The reusability of the gel for the storage and release of the drug into water is demonstrated for four consecutive cycles, and hence the gel formed from G acts as a functional material that finds application in drug delivery.
