Abstract
The unique family of coordination polymers [Ln4(OH)2(piv)10(H2O)2]∞ of 11 lanthanides (Ln = La-Er) has been prepared by a simple solution method based on controlled hydrolysis. The ribbon-like polymeric structure consisting of connected tetranuclear clusters and supported by pivalate ligands and a framework of H-bonds has been revealed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. While the compounds demonstrate similar PXRD patterns and unit cell parameters, the joint single-crystal XRD and pair distribution function data suggest the significant local structure change along the lanthanide series. The compounds exist as two packing polymorphs (α and β) with similar ribbon geometry, but different supramolecular arrangement of the ribbons. Dehydration of either polymorph does not disturb the tetranuclear core but leads to a translational symmetry loss along the ribbon and a transformation of the 3D-ordered crystal into a 2D-ordered mesostructure. Rehydration of the mesostructure leads to the β polymorph (except La and Ce), allowing the deliberate switching between the polymorphs via dehydration-rehydration evidenced by means of powder X-ray diffraction, pair distribution function analysis, and density functional theory calculations. Ab initio calculations reveal significant magnetic anisotropy of Ln3+ ions with ferro- and antiferromagnetic interactions within tetranuclear [Ln4(OH)2(piv)10(H2O)2] species. Magnetic susceptibility measurements demonstrated antiferromagnetic coupling, slow magnetic relaxation for Dy, Ho, and Er complexes, and field-induced single-chain magnetism for the Dy compound.

Abstract
Six dimetallic lanthanide complexes, [Ln2(L')(acac)4] (1Dy-3Gd) (Ln = Dy (1Dy), Tb (2Tb) and Gd (3Gd)) and [Ln2(L')(tfac)4] (4Dy-6Gd) (Ln = Dy (4Dy), Tb (5Tb) and Gd (6Gd)) (H2L' = 1,9-dichloro-3,7,11,15-tetraaza-1,9(1,3)-dibenzenacyclohexadecaphane-2,10-diene-1,9-diol), have been synthesized by the reaction of lanthanide nitrates with the HL ligand in the presence of acetylacetonate (acac) (or trifluoroacetylacetonate (tfac) and triethylamine (HL = 4-chloro-2,6-bis(-((3-((3-(dimethylamino)propyl)amino)propyl)imino)methyl)phenol). Ln-Assisted modification of the Schiff base HL occurred and led to the formation of a new macrocyclic ligand (H2L'). X-ray crystallographic analysis revealed that the LnIII ions of complexes 1Dy-6Gd are all eight-coordinated in a square antiprismatic geometry with D4d local symmetry. Magnetic measurements of these complexes revealed that 1Dy and 4Dy show single-molecule magnet behaviour with energy barriers of 66.7 and 79.0 K, respectively, under a zero direct magnetic field. The orientations of the magnetic axes and crystal field parameters were obtained from theoretical calculations and an electrostatic model. The magneto-structural correlations of SMMs 1Dy and 4Dy are further discussed in detail.

Abstract
We have synthesized a series of transition metal compounds [M(L)2(H2O)2] (M = Co (1), Ni (2), and Cu (3)) by using the 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole Schiff-base ligand via the hydrothermal methods. They are all mononuclear compounds with the octahedral geometry. Direct-current magnetic and HF-EPR measurements were combined to reveal the negative D values (-28.78 cm-1, -10.79 cm-1) of complexes 1 and 2, showing the easy-axis magnetic anisotropies of compounds 1 and 2. Applying a dc field of 800 Oe at 2.0 K, the slow magnetic relaxation effects were observed in compound 1, which is a remarkable feature of single-ion magnets.

Abstract
The reaction of 2-(1H-benzotriazol-1-yl)acetic acid (HBTA; C8H7N3O2) and mono-ethano-lamine (MEA; C2H7NO) with CuCl2·2H2O resulted in the formation of the title complex, [Cu(C8H6N3O2)2(C2H7NO)2] or [Cu(BTA)2(MEA)2]. Its asymmetric unit comprises one BTA anion coordin-ating to the Cu2+ cation (site symmetry ) through the carboxyl O atom, and one MEA ligand chelating the metal cation by two heteroatoms (O and N). The equatorial Cu-O and Cu-N bond lengths are similar at 2.029 (1) and 1.980 (2) Å, respectively, while the length of the axial Cu-O bond is considerably greater [2.492 (2) Å], as is typical for Jahn-Teller-distorted systems. An intra-molecular hydrogen bond is present between the hy-droxy group of the MEA ligand and the non-coordinating O atom of the carboxyl-ate group. Inter-molecular hydrogen bonding involving the amino function of the MEA ligand and the carboxyl-ate group results in eight-membered rings with an R 2 2(8) graph-set motif. The mol-ecules are further linked by C-H⋯π inter-actions involving the triazole rings and methyl-ene groups of MEA, thus generating an overall three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.

Abstract
Five new homodinuclear lanthanide complexes with the general formula [(acac)4Ln2(L)] (Ln3+ = Dy3+ (1), Tb3+ (2), Ho3+ (3), Er3+ (4), and Gd (5)) were synthesized by one-pot [2 + 2] condensation of 2,6-diformyl-4-methylphenol and 1,3-diaminopropane in the presence of various lanthanide acetylacetonates. The eight-coordinate Ln(iii) centre adopts a slightly distorted square antiprism geometry with D4d symmetry. Theoretical analysis and magnetic measurements reveal that the corresponding Dy complex 1 exhibits slow magnetic relaxation behavior, characteristic of a typical SMM with the intramolecular ferromagnetic Dy3+Dy3+ interaction.

Abstract
The use of N-salicylidene-o-aminophenol (H2saph) in 4f-metal chemistry has led to the isolation of seven new isostructural lanthanide(iii) [Ln(III)] complexes. More specifically the Ln(NO3)3·xH2O/H2saph/Et3N (1 : 1 : 1) reaction mixtures in DMF/MeCN gave complexes [Ln2(NO3)2(saph)2(DMF)4] (Ln = Sm (); Eu (); Gd (); Tb (); Dy (); Ho (); Er ()) in good yields (∼65%). The structures of the isomorphous complexes and were solved by single-crystal X-ray crystallography; the other complexes are proposed to be isostructural with and based on elemental analyses, IR spectra and powder XRD patterns. The two Ln(III) atoms in the centrosymmetric molecules of and are doubly bridged by the deprotonated iminophenolato oxygen atoms of two nearly planar η(1):η(1):η(2):μ saph(2-) ligands. The imino nitrogen and five terminal oxygen atoms (the salicylaldiminate, two from one bidentate chelating nitrato group and two from two DMF ligands) complete square antiprismatic coordination at each metal centre. The IR spectra of the complexes are discussed in terms of the coordination modes of the ligands present in the complexes. Solid-state emission studies for all display identical ligand-based photoluminescence. Dc magnetic susceptibility studies in the 2-300 K range reveal the presence of a weak, intramolecular antiferromagnetic exchange interaction (J = -0.19(1) cm(-1) based on the spin Hamiltonian H = -J(ŜGd·ŜGd')) for and probably ferromagnetic exchange interaction within the molecules of and . Ac magnetic susceptibility measurements in zero dc field show temperature- and frequency-dependent out-of-phase signals with two well defined, thermally-activated processes for , suggesting potential single-molecule magnetism character. The Ueff value is 17.4 cm(-1) for the higher temperature process and 16.2 cm(-1) for the lower temperature one. The combination of photoluminescence and single-molecule behaviour in the Dy complex is critically discussed.
