Abstract
Four Pd(II) complexes, (dpk)PdCl2 (complex-1), and (dpk)Pd(OAc)2 (complex-2) have been prepared using di(2-pyridyl) ketone as the chelate ligand (dpk). The (dpk·EtOH)PdCl2 (complex-3) and (dpk·EtOH)Pd(OAc)2 (complex-4) were synthesized by selectively introducing complex-1 and complex-2 to an EtOH in situ nucleophilic addition reaction on the O=C of the dpk ligand, respectively. All complexes were characterized using CHN-EA, UV-vis, FT-IR, FAB-MS, EDX, TGA, and NMR physicochemical tools. The XRD-crystallography technique was employed to ascertain the structure of complex-3. The analysis revealed a monoclinic/P21/c crystal system characterized by a square planar structure oriented in the cis direction around the Pd center. Several C-H···Cl and O-H···O H-bonds constructing 2D-S12 and S7 synthons were confirmed via XRD/HSA interactions. The influence of EtOH addition to the O=C group of dpk in (dpk)PdCl2 was documented by using UV-vis/FT-IR spectra and TGA analysis. As catalysts, all complexes have demonstrated a notable catalytic function in the Heck reaction, resulting in a high yield under gentle conditions using iodobenzene and methyl acrylate as model reactions. Moreover, the complex-1 and complex-3 docking activity was evaluated against 1BNA-DNA.

Abstract
In the presence of ammonia, the reactions of cyanamide and Cu(II) ions with different organic blocking ligands afford three hydrogencyanamido bridged dinuclear complexes: [(dmbpy)(4)Cu(2)(HNCN)](ClO(4))(3)·H(2)O (1, dmbpy = 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine), [(phen)(4)Cu(2)(HNCN)](ClO(4))(3)·2H(2)O (2, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) and [(bpy)(2)Cu(2)(HNCN)(2)(ClO(4))(2)] (3, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine), respectively. However, using the di(2-pyridyl)ketone (dpk) ligand in similar experimental conditions, an interesting reaction between the hydrogencyanamido anion and dpk is observed. Using Cu(ClO(4))·6H(2)O or Co(ClO(4))·6H(2)O as the metal source, it gives the mixed bridged hexanuclear complex [(dpk·OMe)(4)(dpk·NCN)(2)Cu(6)(H(2)O)(2)](ClO(4))(4) (4), or the mononuclear complex [(dpk·OMe)(dpk·HNCN)Co](ClO(4))·2H(2)O (5), respectively. Their structures are characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Magnetic measurements reveal moderate antiferromagnetic interaction between the Cu(II) ions in complex 1, weak ferromagnetic coupling in complex 2, and strong antiferromagnetic interactions for complexes 3 and 4. The magnetostructural correlations of these complexes are discussed.

Abstract
Four tetrameric nickel(II) pseudohalide complexes have been synthesized and structurally, spectroscopically, and magnetically characterized. Compounds 1-3 are isostructural and exhibit the general formula [Ni(2)(dpk·OH)(dpk·CH(3)O)(L)(H(2)O)](2)A(2)·2H(2)O, where dpk = di-2-pyridylketone; L = N(3)(-), and A = ClO(4)(-) for 1, L = NCO(-) and A = ClO(4)(-) for 2, and L = NCO(-) and A = NO(3)(-) for 3. The formula for 4 is [Ni(4)(dpk·OH)(3) (dpk·CH(3)O)(2)(NCO)](BF(4))(2)·3H(2)O. The ligands dpk·OH(-) and dpk·CH(3)O(-) result from solvolysis and ulterior deprotonation of dpk in water and methanol, respectively. The four tetramers exhibit a dicubane-like core with two missing vertexes where the Ni(II) ions are connected through end-on pseudohalide and oxo bridges. Magnetic measurements showed that compounds 1-4 are ferromagnetic. The values of the exchange constants were determined by means of a theoretical model based on three different types of coupling. Thus, the calculated J values (J(1) = J(2), J(3), and D) were 5.6, 11.8, and 5.6 cm(-1) for 1, 5.5, 12.0, and 5.6 cm(-1) for 2, 6.3, 4.9, and 6.2 cm(-1) for 3, and (J(1), J(2), J(3), and D) 6.9, 7.0, 15.2, and 4.8 cm(-1) for 4.

Abstract
A series of metal complexes were achieved from the metal-assisted solvolysis reaction of di-pyridylketone azine (dpka). The tetranuclear nickel cluster , [Ni(2)[dpk(O)(OH)][dpk(O)(OCH(3))](N(3))(2)](2), is centrosymmetric with a central core described as an edge-shared triangle core. Neighboring Ni(II) ions are alternately bridged by (micro(2)-N(3), micro(3)-O) and (micro(2)-O, micro(3)-O) double bridges. Complex , [Cu(4)[dpk(O)(OCH(3))](4)(N(3))(2)](CuCl(2))(2) contains a tetranuclear cluster and two identical [CuCl(2)]M(-) anions. The tetranuclear structure has two crystallographically imposed twofold axes, in which the four copper ions are arranged to be rhombic shape. The neighboring copper(ii) ions along the lateral are bridged by single micro(2)-O from the ligand dpk(O)(OCH(3)) and the short diagonal copper ions are bridged by two symmetric end-on azides. In dinuclear Cu(ii) complex [Cu(2)[dpka(OCH(2)CH(3))]Cl(2)](ClO(4)) (3), the metal centers are coordinated in a planar configuration and bridged by a -N-N- bridge. It is also observed that the Cl atom coordinated to one Cu(II) center is also weakly coordinated to another inversion related Cu(II) to generate a centrosymmetric dimer. The metal centers in one-dimensional polymeric Cu(ii) complex [Cu(2)[dpka(OCH(3))](N(3))(2)(ClO(4))](n) (4), however, are bridged by a -N-N- bridge and an end-to-end azide bridge, alternately. Magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate that shows ferromagnetic interaction within the tetranuclear cluster, and that displays moderately strong antiferromagnetic interaction (J = -56.7 cm(-1)) for the bis(micro-N(3)) bridge. For compound , it shows strong antiferromagnetic coupling (J = -286 cm(-1)) between the intradinuclear Cu(II) ions mediated by the single N-N bridge and negligible magnetic interactions between the adjacent dinuclear Cu(II) ions mediated by the single end-to-end azide bridge. The mechanism of the metal-assisted solvolysis reaction was also discussed.

Abstract
Tetranuclear copper(II) complexes were obtained after simply dissolving [Cu(hfac)2] in formamide-methanol mixed solvents (Hhfac=1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoropentane-2,4-dione). X-Ray diffraction studies revealed that they possessed a tetranuclear double half-cubane core sandwiched with two trianionic ligands from 2,4,6-tris(trifluoromethyl)tetrahydropyran-2,4,6-triol (H3ttpt). Complexes [Cu4(ttpt)2(hfac)2(dmf)2.5], [Cu4(ttpt)2(tfa)2(def)4], and [Cu4(ttpt)2(hfac)2(H2O)4](fa) were prepared from N,N-dimethylformamide(dmf)-MeOH, N,N-diethylformamide (def)-MeOH, and formamide(fa)-MeOH (Htfa=trifluoroacetic acid), respectively. A possible mechanism is proposed where a templated aldol-type reaction takes place between hfac and 1,1,1-trifluoroacetonate. Magnetic measurements revealed the presence of antiferromagnetic interaction in the Cu4O6 core.

Abstract
The preparations, X-ray structures, and detailed physical characterizations are presented for three new tetranuclear Fe(III)/RCO(2)(-)/phen complexes, where phen = 1,10-phenanthroline: [Fe(4)(OHO)(OH)(2)(O(2)CMe)(4)(phen)(4)](ClO(4))(3).4.4MeCN.H(2)O (1.4.4MeCN.H(2)O); [Fe(4)O(2)(O(2)CPh)(7)(phen)(2)](ClO(4)).2MeCN (2.2MeCN); [Fe(4)O(2)(O(2)CPh)(8)(phen)(2)].2H(2)O (3.2H(2)O). Complex 1.4.4MeCN.H(2)O crystallizes in space group P2(1)/n, with a = 18.162(9) A, b = 39.016(19) A, c = 13.054(7) A, beta = 104.29(2) degrees, Z = 4, and V = 8963.7 A(3). Complex 2.2MeCN crystallizes in space group P2(1)/n, with a = 18.532(2) A, b = 35.908(3) A, c = 11.591(1) A, beta = 96.42(1) degrees, Z = 4, and V = 7665(1) A(3). Complex 3.2H(2)O crystallizes in space group I2/a, with a = 18.79(1) A, b = 22.80(1) A, c = 20.74(1) A, beta = 113.21(2) degrees, Z = 4, and V = 8166(1) A(3). The cation of 1 contains the novel [Fe(4)(mu(4)-OHO)(mu-OH)(2)](7+) core. The core structure of 2 and 3 consists of a tetranuclear bis(mu(3)-O) cluster disposed in a "butterfly" arrangement. Magnetic susceptibility data were collected on 1-3 in the 2-300 K range. For the rectangular complex 1, fitting the data to the appropriate theoretical chi(M) vs T expression gave J(1) = -75.4 cm(-1), J(2) = -21.4 cm(-1), and g = 2.0(1), where J(1) and J(2) refer to the Fe(III)O(O(2)CMe)(2)Fe(III) and Fe(III)(OH)Fe(III) pairwise exchange interactions, respectively. The S = 0 ground state of 1 was confirmed by 2 K magnetization data. The data for 2 and 3 reveal a diamagnetic ground state with antiferromagnetic exchange interactions among the four high-spin Fe(III) ions. The exchange coupling constant J(bb) ("body-body" interaction) is indeterminate due to prevailing spin frustration, but the "wing-body" antiferromagnetic interaction (J(wb)) was evaluated to be -77.6 and -65.7 cm(-1) for 2 and 3, respectively, using the appropriate spin Hamiltonian approach. Mössbauer spectra of 1-3 are consistent with high-spin Fe(III) ions. The data indicated asymmetry of the Fe(4) core of 1 at 80 K, which is not detected at room temperature due to thermal motion of the core. The spectra of 2 and 3 analyze as two quadrupole-split doublets which were assigned to the body and wing-tip pairs of metal ions. (1)H NMR spectra are reported for 1-3 with assignment of the main resonances.

Abstract
Two polynuclear copper(II)-squarate compounds of formulas [Cu(HBIP)(BIP)](C(4)O(4))(1/2).2H(2)O (1) and [[Cu(BIP)(OH(2))](4)(mu-C(4)O(4))](ClO(4))(2).4H(2)O (2) (HBIP = 3,3-bis(2-imidazolyl)propionic acid) have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Both compounds crystallize in the triclinic system, space group P1, with a =7.947(1) A, b =12.327(4) A, c = 13.150(3) A, alpha = 113.91(2) degrees, beta = 99.85(2) degrees, gamma = 90.02(2) degrees for compound 1 and a = 8.010(1) A, b = 13.073(1) A, c = 14.561(1) A, alpha = 72.13(1) degrees, beta = 80.14(1) degrees, gamma = 84.02(1) degrees for compound 2. The structure of compound 1 can be viewed as made up of [Cu(HBIP)(BIP)] units linked together by the BIP carboxylate groups to form a one-dimensional chain structure along the a axis in the crystal. The copper ion is five-coordinated (CuN(4)O chromophore) with BIP and HBIP acting as tridentate and bidentate ligands, respectively. The coordination geometry is intermediate between SP and TBP. The structure of compound 2 is made of infinite chains built from cationic tetranuclear [[Cu(BIP)(OH(2))](4)(mu-C(4)O(4))](2+) complex units, two uncoordinated perchlorate anions, and four water molecules of crystallization. The squarato group bridges the copper(II) ions, while BIP acts as a tridentate ligand, connecting through its carboxylate group the tetrameric units along the a axis. The two crystallographically independent copper(II) ions are pentacoordinated within a distorted square-based pyramid. Electronic and EPR spectra are consistent with the crystallographic data. Both compounds follow a Curie-Weiss law with very low values of theta (-0.13 and +0.12 K). In compound 2, the weak ferromagnetism interaction is discussed on the basis of the structural features and correlated with published magnetostructural data on similar squarato-bridged copper(II) compounds.

Abstract
Three tetrameric cobalt(II)-pseudohalide complexes have been structurally and magnetically characterized. Compounds 1 and 2 are isomorphous and exhibit the general formula [Co2(dpk-OH)(dpk-CH3O)(L)(H2O)]2A2-4H2O where dpk = di-2-pyridyl ketone, L = N3(-) and A = BF4(-) for 1, and L = NCO(-) and A = ClO4(-) for 2. The ligands dpk-OH(-) and dpk-CH3O(-) result from solvolysis and ulterior deprotonation of dpk in water and methanol, respectively. Both compounds exhibit cationic tetramers consisting of a dicubane-like core with two missing vertexes where the Co(II) ions are connected through end-on pseudohalide and oxo-bridges. A similar tetranuclear core has been found for 3 whose formula is [Co2(dpk-OH)(dpk-CH3O)(NCO)2]2. In this case, the tetramers are neutral and exhibit a terminal cyanate in place of the coordinated molecule of water for 1 and 2. The tetrameric units for 2 and 3 represent the first examples of any kind of cubanes exhibiting cyanate bridges as well as the first Co(II) compounds exhibiting intermetallic bridges through these pseudohalide groups. Measurements of the magnetic susceptibility indicated the presence of ferromagnetic Co(II)-Co(II) interactions in the three compounds.
