Abstract
In this investigation, the crystal structures of the thio-ligands 3-formylpyridine 4-phenylthiosemicarbazone (C13H12N4S, 1) and 4-benzoylpyridine 4-ethylthiosemicarbazone (C15H16N4S, 2), and of two new coordination compounds, chlorido(3-formylpyridine 4-phenylthiosemicarbazone-κS)bis(triphenylphosphane-κP)copper(I) acetonitrile monosolvate, [CuCl(C13H12N4S)(C18H15P)2]·CH3CN, 3, and bis(3-formylpyridine 4-ethylthiosemicarbazonato-κ2N1,S)nickel(II), [Ni(C9H11N4S)2], 4, are reported. In complex 3, the thio-ligand coordinates in a neutral form to the Cu atom through its S-donor atom, and in complex 4, the anionic thio-ligand chelates to the Ni atom through N- and S-donor atoms. The geometry of complex 3 is distorted tetrahedral [bond angles 99.70 (5)-123.23 (5)°], with the P-Cu-P bond angle being the largest, while that of complex 4 is square planar, with trans-S-Ni-S and N-Ni-N bond angles of 180°.

Abstract
The reaction of fac-[ReX(CH3CN)2(CO)3] (X = Cl, Br) with N-phenyl-[4-(dimethylamino)benzaldehyde] thiosemicarbazone (HLA) or N-4-methoxybenzyl-[4-(dimethylamino)benzaldehyde] thiosemicarbazone (HLB) under controlled synthetic conditions gave 4 mononuclear [ReX(HL)(CO)3] (X = Cl, Br) and 16 dinuclear [Re2L2(CO)6] compounds. These complexes were obtained as single crystals, and their structures were established by X-ray diffraction. The structural study of these dimers showed the formation of several solvates, the presence of linkage isomerism, and the stabilization of four- and/or five-membered chelate rings. The different ligand coordination modes (a new μ-κ2-S,N2:κ-N3 coordination mode for a thiosemicarbazone ligand was observed), the conformation of the thiosemicarbazone chain in each case, the formal symmetry of the dimers, and the role of the synthetic procedure in the stability of the different chelate rings were analyzed and are discussed. Theoretical calculations in the gas phase were performed for the dimers with the HLA ligand in order to identify the thermodynamically most stable species. The behavior and structural stability of dimers in dimethyl sulfoxide and acetone solutions was investigated by 1H NMR spectroscopy. The strength of the ReI-L bond in solution was evidenced by the formation of [Re2(LNO2)2(CO)6] and [Re(LA)(py)(CO)3] upon reaction of the corresponding dimer with concentrated nitric acid and pyridine, respectively.

Abstract
A novel one-dimensional coordination polymer containing Cu(I)Cu(II) core with chloro bridge on Cu(I) and ligand bridge on Cu(II) ions (1) and a mononuclear Cu(II) complex (2) have been synthesized from the reactions of 3- and 4-methoxy-3-quinolin-3-ylimino-methyl-2-phenol with [CuCl2(PPh3)2]. The ligands and the complexes have been characterized by spectral and analytical methods. In addition, the structures of both the ligands and the copper complexes were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. In both complexes, the phenolic oxygen and azomethine nitrogen atom of the ligand coordinate to the copper ions in a monobasic bidentate manner resulting in an approximately square planar geometry around the copper ion. In the polymeric complex, the N atom of the quinoline ring is coordinated to Cu(I) in addition to the phenolic oxygen and azomethine nitrogen atom coordinating to Cu(II) ion, thus bridging Cu(I) and Cu(II) ions in the complex. The interactions of the compounds with calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) have been followed by absorption and emission titration methods, which revealed that the compounds interact with CT-DNA through intercalation. Further, the interactions of the compounds with bovine serum albumin (BSA) were also investigated using UV-visible, fluorescence spectroscopic methods. The results indicated that complex 1 exhibited a stronger binding to CT-DNA and BSA than the free ligands and complex 2. In addition, the in vitro cytotoxicity experiment showed that complexes 1 and 2 exhibit potent cytotoxic properties against PANC-1and Hela cells. Moreover, while complex 1 showed prominent cytotoxic activity against both PANC-1 and Hela cells with IC50 of 17.91 and 11.67 μM, complex 2 showed moderate cytotoxic activities with IC50 of 25.13 and 16.41 μM in PANC-1 and Hela cells. Further, apoptosis was confirmed by fluorescence image using EB/AO reagent.

Abstract
The calculations transpired that the isomerization mechanism of thiosemicarbazones is influenced by the solvents, in which the inversion and tautomerization path is the likely mechanisms in aprotic and protic solvents, respectively.

Abstract
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C17H20N4S, contains two independent mol-ecules, the main difference between them being the dihedral angles between the benzene rings [19.99 (17) and 9.72 (17)°]. The mol-ecules both have a trans conformation about the C=N double bond and intra-molecular C-H⋯S and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are observed in both mol-ecules. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by weak N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds with graph-set motif R 2 (2)(8). In each mol-ecule, all but one of the N atoms and both the S atoms are involved in hydrogen bonding.

Abstract
The variable chelating behavior of 3-methoxysalicylaldehyde-4(N)-substituted thiosemicarbazones was observed in equimolar reactions with [PdCl(2)(PPh(3))(2)]. The new complexes were characterized by various analytical, spectroscopic techniques (mass, (1)H-NMR, absorption, IR). All the new complexes were structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Crystallographic results showed that the ligands H(2)L(1) and H(2)L(4) are coordinated as binegative tridentate ONS donor ligands in the complexes 1 and 4 by forming six and five member rings. However, the ligands H(2)L(2) and H(2)L(3) bound to palladium in 2 and 3 as uninegative bidentate NS donors by forming a five member chelate ring. From this study, it was found that the substitution on terminal 4(N)-nitrogen may have an influence on the chelating ability of thiosemicarbazone. The presence of hydrogen bonding in 2 and 3 might be responsible for preventing the coordination of phenolic oxygen to the metal ion. The interaction of the complexes with calf-thymus DNA (CT-DNA) has been explored by absorption and emission titration methods. Based on the observations, an electrostatic binding mode of DNA has been proposed. The protein binding studies were monitored by quenching of tryptophan and tyrosine residues in the presence of complexes using Lysozyme as model protein. Antibacterial activity studies of the complexes have been screened against pathogenic bacteria such as Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. MIC50 values of the complexes showed that they exhibited significant activity against the pathogens and among them, 3 exhibited higher activity. Further, anticancer activity of the complexes on the lung cancer cell line A549 has also been studied.
