Abstract
The gold-catalyzed reaction of 2-en-4-ynones with alkynylsilanes provides fully substituted allene derivatives bearing furyl and silyl groups. This transformation would involve generation of a gold furyl carbene intermediate, which regioselectively undergoes a nucleophilic attack by the alkynylsilane at the electrophilic carbene carbon atom with the formation of a β-gold vinyl cation species. The subsequent release of the gold catalyst, accompanied by a 1,2-silyl shift, leads to the formation of tetrasubstituted allene products.

Abstract
Silylcyclopropenes are employed as precursors of α-silyl vinyl carbenes and trapped with alkenes. Cyclopropylsilanes were obtained in good yields with ample scope and complete regio- and diastereoselectivity. Stereoretentive protodesilylations enabled access to cis-1,2-disubstituted cyclopropanes. Cyclopropylstannanes and -germanes can also be prepared from the corresponding cyclopropenes.

Abstract
The reaction of propargyl esters with alkynylsilanes under gold catalysis provides vinylallene derivatives through consecutive [1,2]‐acyloxy/[1,2]‐silyl rearrangements. Good yields, full atom‐economy, broad substrate scope, easy scale‐up and low catalyst loadings are salient features of this novel transformation. Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations suggest a reaction mechanism involving initial [1,2]‐acyloxy rearrangement to generate a gold vinylcarbene intermediate which upon regioselective attack of the alkynylsilane affords a vinyl cation which undergoes a type II‐dyotropic rearrangement involving the silyl group and the metal fragment. Preliminary results on the enantioselective version of this transformation are also disclosed.

Abstract
Treatment of hexachloropropene (Cl2C

C(Cl)–CCl3) with Si2Cl6 and [nBu4N]Cl (1 : 4 : 1) in CH2Cl2 results in a quantitative conversion to the trisilylated, dichlorinated allyl anion salt [nBu4N][Cl2CC(SiCl3)–C(SiCl3)2] ([nBu4N][1]). Tetrachloroallene Cl2CCCCl2 was identified as the first intermediate of the reaction cascade. In the solid state, [1]− adopts approximate Cs symmetry with a dihedral angle between the planes running through the olefinic and carbanionic fragments of [1]− of CC–Si//Si–C–Si = 78.3(1)°. One-electron oxidation of [nBu4N][1] with SbCl5 furnishes the distillable blue radical 1˙. The neutral propene Cl2CC(SiCl3)–C(SiCl3)2H (2) was obtained by (i) protonation of [1]− with HOSO2CF3 (HOTf) or (ii) H-atom transfer to 1˙ from 1,4-cyclohexadiene. Quantitative transformation of all three SiCl3 substituents in 2 to Si(OMe)3 (2OMe) or SiMe3 (2Me) substituents was achieved by using MeOH/NMe2Et or MeMgBr in CH2Cl2 or THF, respectively. Upon addition of 2 equiv. of tBuLi, 2Me underwent deprotonation with subsequent LiCl elimination, 1,2-SiMe3 migration and Cl/Li exchange to afford the allenyl lithium compound Me3Si(Li)CCC(SiMe3)2 (Li[4]), which is an efficient building block for the introduction of Me, SiMe3, or SnMe3 (5) groups. The trisilylated, monochlorinated allene Cl3Si(Cl)CCC(SiCl3)2 (6), was obtained from [nBu4N][1] through Cl−-ion abstraction with AlCl3 and rearrangement in CH2Cl2 (1˙ forms as a minor side product, likely because the system AlCl3/CH2Cl2 can also act as a one-electron oxidant). Treatment of hexachloropropene (Cl2CC(Cl)–CCl3) with Si2Cl6 and [nBu4N]Cl (1 : 4 : 1) in CH2Cl2 results in a quantitative conversion to the trisilylated, dichlorinated allyl anion salt [nBu4N][Cl2CC(SiCl3)–C(SiCl3)2] ([nBu4N][1]).![]()

Abstract
Off-cycle processes in catalytic reactions can dramatically influence the outcome of the chemical transformation and affect its yield, selectivity, rate, and product distribution. While the generation of off-cycle intermediates can complicate reaction coordinate analyses or hamper catalytic efficiency, the generation of such species may also open new routes to unique chemical products. Recently, we reported the Pd-mediated functionalization of carboranes with a range of O-, N-, and C-based nucleophiles. By utilizing a Pd-based catalytic system supported by a biaryl phosphine ligand developed by Buchwald and co-workers, we discovered an off-cycle isomerization process ("cage-walking") that generates four regioisomeric products from a single halogenated boron cluster isomer. Here we describe how several off-cycle processes affect the regioisomer yield and distribution during Pd-catalyzed tandem cage-walking/cross-coupling. In particular, tuning the transmetallation step in the catalytic cycle allowed us to incorporate the cage-walking process into Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling of sterically unencumbered substrates, including cyanide. This work demonstrates the feasibility of using tandem cage-walking/cross-coupling as a unique low-temperature method for producing regioisomers of mono-substituted carboranes.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of (NHC)(tricyclo[4.1.0.02,7 ]hept-1-yl)gold(I) compounds is reported. Several of these organometallic compounds could be obtained by transmetalation from the organolithium precursor to the corresponding (NHC)gold(I) chlorides. These are by far the most strained stable organogold compounds reported so far. With these new compounds we were able to efficiently and selectively accomplish the first gold-catalyzed rearrangement of organogold compounds, even better yields were obtained by the first rhodium-catalyzed rearrangement of these organogold species. (E/Z)-Mixtures of (NHC)(cyclohex-2-en-1-ylidenemethyl)gold(I) were obtained, none of the other known rearrangement products of tricycloheptanes. Additional insight into the chemical and physical properties of the strained compounds was obtained by spectroscopic and computational studies.
