Abstract
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) present in oily sludge generated by the petroleum and petrochemical industries have emerged as a prominent concern within the realm of environmental conservation. The precise determination of PAHs holds immense significance in both petroleum geochemistry and environmental protection. In this study, a combination of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and solid-liquid extraction was employed for the screening of PAHs in oily sludge. Methanol was utilized as the extraction solvent for PAHs, while nanosilver-silicon coupling substrates were employed for their detection. The SERS spectrum was acquired using a portable Raman spectrometer. The nano silver-silicon coupling substrate exhibits excellent uniformity, with relative standard deviations (RSDs) of Phenanthrene, Fluoranthrene, Fluorene and Naphthalene (Phe, Flt, Flu and Nap) being 2.8%, 1.08%, 1.41%, and 5.44% respectively. Moreover, the limits of detection (LODs) achieved remarkable values of 0.542 μg/g, 0.342 μg/g, 0.541 μg/g, and 5.132 μg/g. The quantitative analysis of PAHs in oily sludge was investigated using SERS technology combined with partial least squares (PLS). The optimal PLS calibration model was optimized by combining spectral preprocessing methods and using the SiPLS (Synergy interval partial least squares)-VIP (Variable Importance in Projection) hybrid variable selection strategy. The prediction performance of the D1st (First derivative)-WT (Wavelet transform)-SiPLS-VIP-PLS model was deemed satisfactory, as evidenced by high R2P values of 0.9851, 0.9917, and 0.9925 for Phe, Flt, and Flu respectively; additionally, the corresponding MREP values were found to be 0.0580, 0.0668, and 0.0669 respectively. However, for Nap analysis, the D1st-WT-PLS model proved to be a better calibration model with an R2P value of 0.9864 and an MREP (Mean relative error of prediction) value of 0.0713. In summary, SERS technology combined with PLS based on different spectral pretreatment methods and mixed variable selection strategies is a promising method for quantitative analysis of PAHs in oily sludge, which will provide new ideas and methods for the quantitative analysis of PAHs in oily sludge.

Abstract
Manganese tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin chloride was grafted onto powdered chitosan via an acid–base reaction and ligation. The grafted catalyst was characterized by transmission electron microscopy, ultraviolet and visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectrometry and thermogravimetry. Ethylbenzene oxidation with O[Formula: see text] by the catalyst in the absence of additives and solvents can achieve moderate yields (approximately 30%) of acetophenone and phenethyl alcohol. The grafted catalyst can be reused four times for oxidation reactions. The results indicate that the catalytic activity of manganese tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin chloride is promoted by the ligation and grafting function of the amino groups in the powdered chitosan.

Abstract
The fabrication and control of coordination compounds or architectures at well-defined interfaces is a thriving research domain with promise for various research areas, including single-site catalysis, molecular magnetism, light-harvesting, and molecular rotors and machines. To date, such systems have been realized either by grafting or depositing prefabricated metal-organic complexes or by protocols combining molecular linkers and single metal atoms at the interface. Here we report a different pathway employing metal-organic chemical vapor deposition, as exemplified by the reaction of meso-tetraphenylporphyrin derivatives on atomistically clean Ag(111) with a metal carbonyl precursor (Ru3(CO)12) under vacuum conditions. Scanning tunneling microscopy and X-ray spectroscopy reveal the formation of a meso-tetraphenylporphyrin cyclodehydrogenation product that readily undergoes metalation after exposure to the Ru-carbonyl precursor vapor and thermal treatment. The self-terminating porphyrin metalation protocol proceeds without additional surface-bound byproducts, yielding a single and thermally robust layer of Ru metalloporphyrins. The introduced fabrication scheme presents a new approach toward the realization of complex metal-organic interfaces incorporating metal centers in unique coordination environments.

Abstract
The organization and thermal lability of chloro(5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl porphyrinato)manganese(III) (Cl-MnTPP) molecules on the Ag(111) surface have been investigated under ultra-high vacuum conditions, using scanning tunnelling microscopy, low energy electron diffraction and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The findings reveal the epitaxial nature of the molecule-substrate interface, and moreover, offer a valuable insight into the latent coordination properties of surface-confined metalloporphyrins. The Cl-MnTPP molecules are found to self-assemble on the Ag(111) surface at room temperature, forming an ordered molecular overlayer described by a square unit cell. In accordance with the threefold symmetry of the Ag(111) surface, three rotationally equivalent domains of the molecular overlayer are observed. The primitive lattice vectors of the Cl-MnTPP overlayer show an azimuthal rotation of ±15° relative to those of the Ag(111) surface, while the principal molecular axes of the individual molecules are found to be aligned with the substrate (0(-)11) and ((-)211) crystallographic directions. The axial chloride (Cl) ligand is found to be orientated away from the Ag(111) surface, whereby the average plane of the porphyrin macrocycle lies parallel to that of the substrate. When adsorbed on the Ag(111) surface, the Cl-MnTPP molecules display a latent thermal lability resulting in the dissociation of the axial Cl ligand at ~423 K. The thermally induced dissociation of the Cl ligand leaves the porphyrin complex otherwise intact, giving rise to the coordinatively unsaturated Mn(III) derivative. Consistent with the surface conformation of the Cl-MnTPP precursor, the resulting (5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl porphyrinato)manganese(III) (MnTPP) molecules display the same lattice structure and registry with the Ag(111) surface.

Abstract
The structural and reactive properties of the acetyl-protected "one-legged" manganese porphyrin [SAc]P-Mn(III)Cl on Ag(100) have been studied by NEXAFS, synchrotron XPS and STM. Spontaneous surface-mediated deprotection occurs at 300 K accompanied by spreading of the resulting thio-tethered porphyrin across the metal surface. Loss of the axial chlorine ligand occurs at 498 K, without any demetalation of the macrocycle, leaving the Mn center in a low co-ordination state. At low coverages the macrocycle is markedly tilted toward the silver surface, as is the phenyl group that forms part of the tethering "leg". In the monolayer region a striking transition occurs whereby the molecule rolls over, preserving the tilt angle of the phenyl group, strongly increasing that of the macrocycle, decreasing the apparent height of the molecule and decreasing its footprint, thus enabling closer packing. These findings are in marked contrast with those previously reported for the corresponding more rigidly bound four-legged porphyrin [ Turner , M. , Vaughan , O. P. H. , Kyriakou , G. , Watson , D. J. , Scherer , L. J. , Davidson , G. J. E. , Sanders , J. K. M. and Lambert , R. M. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2009 , 131 , 1910 ] suggesting that the physicochemical properties and potential applications of these versatile systems should be strongly dependent on the mode of tethering to the surface.
