Mechanistic Study of the Manganese-Catalyzed [2 + 2 + 2] Annulation of 1,3-Dicarbonyl Compounds and Terminal Alkynes

Palladium-Copper-Catalyzed Oxidative Intermolecular [2 + 2 + 2] Coupling-Annulation: Regioselective Synthesis of Multiaryl-Substituted Benzenes

A palladium-catalyzed intermolecular [2 + 2 + 2] oxidative coupling-annulation of terminal alkenes and alkynes using copper(II) as the oxidant has been developed through direct C-C bond formation. These reactions provide effective access to multiaryl-substituted benzenes with high regioselectivity in the absence of any ligands. The features of this protocol are broad substrate scope, and high atom and step economy. The aggregation-induced emission properties of selected products were further investigated. These synthesized multiaryl-substituted benzenes may be worth exploring for further applications in the fields of advanced functional materials or drugs.

Synthesis, phase transformation, and morphology of hausmannite Mn3O4 nanoparticles: photocatalytic and antibacterial investigations

Nano structured Hausmannite (Mn₃O₄) has efficacious applications in numerous fields, such as catalytic, medical, biosensors, waste water remediation, energy storage devices etc. The potential application in wastewater treatment is due to its distinct structural features combined with fascinating physicochemical properties. Another area of interest is the oxidative properties imparted due to its reduction potential. Larger surface to volume ratio and high reactivity than the bulk form shows great progress as antimicrobial agent to control drug resistant microbial population. The distinct surface morphologies, crystalline forms, reaction conditions and synthetic methods exerts significant impact on the photo catalytic and bactericidal efficiency. Hence, the present paper focuses on a concise review of the multifarious study on synthetic methods of Mn₃O₄, growth mechanisms, structural forms, phase transformation and phase control, shape and dimensionality. The review also confers its applications towards photo catalytic and bactericidal studies.

Manganese-Catalyzed Divergent Markovnikov Addition and [2+2+2] Cycloaddition of 2-Carbonyl Indanone with Terminal Alkyne

Herein, we report on manganese-catalyzed regioselective Markovnikov addition and [2+2+2] cycloaddition of 2-carbonyl indanones with terminal alkynes. This method provides an efficient approach for the construction of all-carbon quaternary centers and complex polycyclic hydrocarbon frameworks by the formation of new carbon-carbon single bonds in a regio- and stereoselective manner. Preliminary mechanistic experiments involving deuterium labeling, kinetic, catalytic, and stoichiometric reactions with plausible intermediates were performed to shed light on the reaction mechanism.

Selective Hydroarylation of 1,3-Diynes Using a Dimeric Manganese Catalyst: Modular Synthesis of Z-Enynes

The transition-metal-catalyzed selective hydroarylation of unsymmetrical alkynes represents the state-of-art in organic chemistry, and still mainly relies on the use of precious late-transition-metal catalysts. Reported herein is an unprecedented Mn^I -catalyzed hydroarylation of unsymmetrical 1,3-diyne alcohols with commercially available arylboronic acids with predictive selectivity. This method addresses the challenges in regio-, stereo-, and chemoselectivity. It offers a general, convenient and practical strategy for the modular synthesis of multisubstituted Z-configurated conjugated enynes. This protocol is distinguished by its operational simplicity, complete selectivity, excellent functional-group compatibility, and gram-scale potential. A dimeric Mn^I species, Mn₂ (CO)₈ Br₂ , was proven to be a much more efficient catalyst precursor than Mn(CO)₅ Br.

Manganese-Catalyzed Hydrosilylation Reactions

Over the past few decades, manganese-catalyzed hydrosilylation of C=O or C=C/C≡C unsaturated bonds have undergone enormous developments. In this focus review, the hydrosilylation reactions of alkenes, alkynes, and carbonyl-containing substrates catalyzed by manganese complexes are summarized. Moreover, the mechanisms of the manganese-catalyzed hydrosilylation are briefly discussed.

Metal-Involving Synthesis and Reactions of Oximes

This review classifies and summarizes the past 10-15 years of advancements in the field of metal-involving (i.e., metal-mediated and metal-catalyzed) reactions of oximes. These reactions are diverse in nature and have been employed for syntheses of oxime-based metal complexes and cage-compounds, oxime functionalizations, and the preparation of new classes of organic species, in particular, a wide variety of heterocyclic systems spanning small 3-membered ring systems to macroheterocycles. This consideration gives a general outlook of reaction routes, mechanisms, and driving forces and underlines the potential of metal-involving conversions of oxime species for application in various fields of chemistry and draws attention to the emerging putative targets.

Manganese(I)-Catalyzed C-H Activation: The Key Role of a 7-Membered Manganacycle in H-Transfer and Reductive Elimination

Manganese‐catalyzed C−H bond activation chemistry is emerging as a powerful and complementary method for molecular functionalization. A highly reactive seven‐membered Mn^I intermediate is detected and characterized that is effective for H‐transfer or reductive elimination to deliver alkenylated or pyridinium products, respectively. The two pathways are determined at Mn^I by judicious choice of an electron‐deficient 2‐pyrone substrate containing a 2‐pyridyl directing group, which undergoes regioselective C−H bond activation, serving as a valuable system for probing the mechanistic features of Mn C−H bond activation chemistry.

Multifaceted strategy for the synthesis of diverse 2,2'-bithiophene derivatives

New catalytically or high pressure activated reactions and routes, including coupling, double bond migration in allylic systems, and various types of cycloaddition and dihydroamination have been used for the synthesis of novel bithiophene derivatives. Thanks to the abovementioned reactions and routes combined with non-catalytic ones, new acetylene, butadiyne, isoxazole, 1,2,3-triazole, pyrrole, benzene, and fluoranthene derivatives with one, two or six bithiophenyl moieties have been obtained. Basic sources of crucial substrates which include bithiophene motif for catalytic reactions were 2,2'-bithiophene, gaseous acetylene and 1,3-butadiyne.

Iron-catalyzed chemo- and stereoselective hydromagnesiation of diarylalkynes and diynes

Diarylalkynes are chemo- and stereoselectively hydromagnesiated in high yields at room temperature with an iron species generated in situ from FeCl(2)and EtMgBr. Functional groups such as bromide, iodide, amine, phenoxide, and alkene are well tolerated. Under similar conditions, diynes are chemo-, regio-, and stereoselectively hydromagnesiated. The resulting alkenylmagnesium compounds are a platform for further functionalization as a one-pot reaction.
