Abstract
The literature on cyclic sulfinamides (put simply, sultims) published from 1989 to 2022 has been summarized and reviewed. The information is divided into two sections: the analysis of synthetic methods on the preparation of cyclic sulfinamides and the discussion of the chemical properties of cyclic sulfinamides focusing on their reactions and applications. The survey of the reaction conditions, provided in the most detailed way, and a critical view of the reaction mechanisms add an extra dimension to the text. The data presented will be useful to specialists in different areas, especially those who work in the field of synthetic organic and pharmaceutical chemistry.

Abstract
TSAO-T and ATSAO-T analogues are molecules of interest that are able to inhibit the reverse transcriptase (RT) of HIV-1 and HCV. We also recently highlighted their antiproliferative properties. In all cases, the spiro cycle was a required group for biological activities, which led chemists to produce many derivatives, especially on this ring. These structures can be accessed through the formation of glycoaminonitriles and glycocyanhydrins using methodologies not always adapted to the synthesis of large quantities. Moreover, these latter are poorly versatile (substrate-dependent), need expensive cyanogenic agents and implies the use of a metal in non-catalytic amounts. For this reason, we report here a new metal-free methodology for the synthesis of glycoaminonitriles and glycocyanhydrins using molecular iodine (I2).

Abstract
Organocatalysis is a very useful tool for the asymmetric synthesis of biologically or pharmacologically active compounds because it avoids the use of noxious metals, which are difficult to eliminate from the target products. Moreover, in many cases, the organocatalysed reactions can be performed in benign solvents and do not require anhydrous conditions. It is well-known that most of the above-mentioned reactions are promoted by a simple aminoacid, l-proline, or, to a lesser extent, by the more complex cinchona alkaloids. However, during the past three decades, other enantiopure natural compounds, the carbohydrates, have been employed as organocatalysts. In the present exhaustive review, the detailed preparation of all the sugar-based organocatalysts as well as their catalytic properties are described.

Abstract
[reaction: see text] Addition of trimethylsilyl cyanide to ketimines derived from (R)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl methyl ketone to generate a quaternary stereocenter has been achieved with high yields and excellent diastereoselectivity. The stereoselectivity was found to be temperature and solvent dependent. The beta-hydroxy-alpha-amino nitrile of syn configuration was the major compound in kinetically controlled reactions, whereas the anti stereoisomer was obtained in excess in thermodynamically controlled reactions. Double stereodifferentiation under kinetic control conditions was successful, and the cyanation reaction occurred with complete syn diastereoselectivity using the matched pair. The versatility of the resulting amino nitrile as a synthetic intermediate was tested by performing the synthesis of orthogonally protected (R)-(2-aminomethyl)alanine.

Abstract
Aza TSAO-T derivatives bearing a dihydroisothiazole dioxide ring instead of an oxathiole dioxide ring at the C-3' position on the sugar moiety were prepared. We have synthesized four families of compounds depending on substitution at both N-3 and N-2' '. Biological evaluation showed that these compounds are HIV-1(III(B))-specific and potent reverse transcriptase inhibitors with EC(50) values between 0.13 and 3.5 microM in cell culture.
