Abstract
Silylcyclopropenes are employed as precursors of α-silyl vinyl carbenes and trapped with alkenes. Cyclopropylsilanes were obtained in good yields with ample scope and complete regio- and diastereoselectivity. Stereoretentive protodesilylations enabled access to cis-1,2-disubstituted cyclopropanes. Cyclopropylstannanes and -germanes can also be prepared from the corresponding cyclopropenes.

Abstract
Chiral cis-cyclopropanes are strained rigid analogues of alkyl chains, whose study and application are limited by their difficult synthesis. A modular approach from olefin materials is enabled by the discovery of the electron donor-acceptor (EDA) interaction between 2-substituted benzothiazolines and N-hydroxyphthalimide esters. These complexes are activated by visible light without photocatalysts, and the benzothiazoline reagent plays a triple role as a photoreductant, a stereoselective hydrogen-atom donor, and a Brønsted acid. Beyond the enantioselective synthesis of cis-cyclopropanes, these results introduce benzothiazolines as accessible and easily tunable self-sensitized photoreductants.

Abstract
The generation of metal carbenoids via ring opening of cyclopropenes by transition metals offers a simple entry into highly reactive intermediates. Herein, we describe a diastereoselective intermolecular rhodium-catalyzed cyclopropanation of heterocycles and alkenes using cyclopropenes as carbene precursors with a low loading of a commercially available rhodium catalyst. The reported method is scalable and could be performed with catalyst loadings as low as 0.2 mol %, with no impact to the reaction yield or selectivity.

Abstract
2,3-Dihydrobenzofurans are key pharmacophores in many natural and synthetic bioactive molecules. A biocatalytic strategy is reported here for the highly diastereo- and enantioselective construction of stereochemically rich 2,3-dihydrobenzofurans in high enantiopurity (>99.9% de and ee), high yields, and on a preparative scale via benzofuran cyclopropanation with engineered myoglobins. Computational and structure-reactivity studies provide insights into the mechanism of this reaction, enabling the elaboration of a stereochemical model that can rationalize the high stereoselectivity of the biocatalyst. This information was leveraged to implement a highly stereoselective route to a drug molecule and a tricyclic scaffold featuring five stereogenic centers via a single-enzyme transformation. This work expands the biocatalytic toolbox for asymmetric C-C bond transformations and should prove useful for further development of metalloprotein catalysts for abiotic carbene transfer reactions.

Abstract
The design of stereodivergent transformations is of great interest to the synthetic community as it allows funneling of a given reaction pathway toward one stereochemical outcome or another by only minor adjustments of the reaction setup. Herein, we present a physical organic approach to invert the sense of induction in diastereoselective cyclopropanation of alkenes with N-enoxyphthalimides through rhodium(III) catalysis. Careful parametrization of catalyst-substrate molecular determinants allowed us to interrogate linear-free energy relationships and establish an intuitive and robust statistical model that correlates an extensive number of data points in high accuracy. Our multivariate correlations-steered mechanistic investigation culminated with a robust and general diastereodivergent cyclopropanation tool where the switch from trans- to cis-diastereoinduction is attributed to a mechanistic dichotomy. Selectivity might be determined by the flexibility of rhodacyclic intermediates derived from ring-opened versus -unopened phthalimides, induced by both their respective ring size and the Sterimol B1 parameter of the CpX ligand on rhodium.

Abstract
An intramolecular rhodium-catalyzed transannulation of readily available cyanothiadiazoles containing an ester, amide, or ether as a linker is described. It provides a wide range of bicyclic isothiazoles in good to excellent yields together with the release of molecular nitrogen. These results indicate that the carbon atom in the α-thiavinyl carbene is nucleophilic and that the sulfur atom is electrophilic.

Abstract
The influence of the potentially chelating imino group of imine-functionalized Ir and Rh imidazole complexes on the formation of functionalized protic N-heterocyclic carbene (pNHC) complexes by tautomerization/metallotropism sequences was investigated. Chloride abstraction in [Ir(cod)Cl{C3 H3N2 (DippN=CMe)-κN3}] (1 a) (cod=1,5-cyclooctadiene, Dipp=2,6-diisopropylphenyl) with TlPF6 gave [Ir(cod){C3 H3N2 (DippN=CMe)-κ(2) (C2,Nimine )}](+) [PF6 ](-) (3 a(+) [PF6 ](-)). Plausible mechanisms for the tautomerization of complex 1 a to 3 a(+) [PF6 ](-) involving C2-H bond activation either in 1 a or in [Ir(cod){C3 H3 N2 (DippN=CMe)-κN3}2](+) [PF6 ](-) (6 a(+) [PF6 ](-)) were postulated. Addition of PR3 to complex 3 a(+) [PF6 ](-) afforded the eighteen-valence-electron complexes [Ir(cod)(PR3){C3 H3N2 (DippN=CMe)-κ(2) (C2,Nimine )}](+) [PF6 ](-) (7 a(+) [PF6 ](-) (R=Ph) and 7 b(+) [PF6 ](-) (R=Me)). In contrast to Ir, chloride abstraction from [Rh(cod)Cl{C3H3N2 (DippN=CMe)-κN3}] (1 b) at room temperature afforded [Rh(cod){C3 H3N2 (DippN=CMe)-κN3}2](+) [PF6 ](-) (6 b(+) [PF6 ](-)) and [Rh(cod){C3 H3N2 (DippN=CMe)-κ(2) (C2,Nimine )}](+) [PF6 ](-) (3 b(+) [PF6 ](-) ) (minor); the reaction yielded exclusively the latter product in toluene at 110 °C. Double metallation of the azole ring (at both the C2 and the N3 atom) was also achieved: [Ir2 (cod)2 Cl{μ-C3H2N2 (DippN=CMe)-κ(2) (C2,Nimine ),κN3}] (10) and the heterodinuclear complex [IrRh(cod)2 Cl{μ-C3H2N2 (DippN=CMe)-κ(2) (C2,Nimine ),κN3}] (12) were fully characterized. The structures of complexes 1 b, 3 b(+) [PF6 ](-) , 6 a(+) [PF6 ](-) , 7 a(+) [PF6 ](-), [Ir(cod){C3HN2 (DippN=CMe)(DippN=CH)(Me)-κ(2) (N3,Nimine )}](+) [PF6 ](-) (9(+) [PF6 ](-)), 10⋅ Et2 O⋅toluene, [Ir2 (CO)4 Cl{μ-C3H2N2 (DippN=CMe)-κ(2) (C2,Nimine ),κN3}] (11), and 12⋅2 THF were determined by X-ray diffraction.
