Abstract
Chemoselective transformations of functionalized sulfonyl fluorides and chlorides are surveyed comprehensively. It is shown that sulfonyl fluorides provide an excellent selectivity control in their reactions. Thus, numerous conditions are tolerated by the SO2 F group - from amide and ester formation to directed ortho-lithiation and transition-metal-catalyzed cross-couplings. Meanwhile, sulfur (VI) fluoride exchange (SuFEx) is also compatible with numerous functional groups, thus confirming its title of "another click reaction". On the contrary, with a few exceptions, most transformations of functionalized sulfonyl chlorides typically occur at the SO2 Cl moiety.

Abstract
Catalytic electron donor-acceptor (EDA) complexes have recently emerged as a powerful and sustainable alternative to iridium- and ruthenium-based photoredox synthetic methods. Yet, these complexes remain underexplored and reliant on the use of meticulously designed acceptors that require previous installation. Herein, we report a novel EDA complex employing tris(4-methoxyphenyl) amine as a catalytic donor for the sulfonylation of alkenes using inexpensive and readily available sulfonyl chlorides. Applying this operationally simple, visible-light-mediated general platform, we report both the redox-neutral and net-reductive functionalization of more than 60 substrates, encompassing vinylic or allylic sulfonylation, hydrosulfonylation, and sulfamoylation of activated and unactivated alkenes and alkynes.

Abstract
The synthesis of undescribed β-aminodifluoroethylsulfinates and their uses in the hydroaminodifluoroalkylation of alkenes is reported. This reaction is performed in the presence of a photocatalyst (4CzIPN, Ru complexes) and enables the direct incorporation of a β-difluoroamine moiety into vinylic aryls, unactivated alkenes, and electron-rich, or -deficient alkenes. The mechanism was studied, and the formation of a gem-difluoromethyl radical was observed after the selective oxidation of the sulfinate function.

Abstract
The incorporation of fluorine atoms into an organic compound can alter the chemical reactivity or biological activity of the resulting compound due to the strong electron withdrawing nature of the fluorine atom. We have synthesized many original gem-difluorinated compounds and described the results in four sections. The first section describes the synthesis of optically active-gem-difluorocyclopropanes via the chemo-enzymatic reaction; we applied these compounds to liquid crystalline molecules, then further discovered a potent DNA cleavage activity for the gem-difluorocyclopropane derivatives. The second section describes the synthesis of selectively gem-difluorinated compounds via a radical reaction; we synthesized fluorinated analogues of a sex pheromone of the male African sugarcane borer, Eldana saccharina, and used the compounds as proof for investigating the origin of pheromone molecule recognition on the receptor protein. The third involves the synthesis of 2,2-difluorinated-esters by visible light-driven radical addition of 2,2-difluoroacetate with alkenes or alkynes in the presence of an organic pigment. The last section describes the synthesis of gem-difluorinated compounds via the ring-opening of gem-difluorocyclopropanes. We further developed a novel method of synthesizing gem-difluorohomoallylic alcohols via the ring-opening of gem-difluorocyclopropane and aerobic oxidation by photo-irradiation in the presence of an organic pigment. Since gem-difluorinated compounds that were prepared by the present method have two olefinic moieties with a different reactivity at the terminal position, we accomplished the synthesis of four types of gem-difluorinated cyclic alkenols via the ring-closing-metathesis (RCM) reaction.

Abstract
Diverse, visible-light-induced transformations of methylenecyclopropanes (MCPs) have been reported in recent years, attracting significant attention from synthetic chemists. As readily accessible strained molecules, MCPs have sufficient reactivity to selectively generate different target products, through reactions with various radical species upon visible-light irradiation under regulated reaction conditions. These transformations can be classified into three subcategories of reaction pathway, forming ring-opened products, cyclopropane derivatives, and alkynes. These products include pharmaceutical intermediates and polycyclic/heterocyclic compounds that are challenging to obtain using traditional methods. This review summarizes the recent advancements in this field.

Abstract
Herein, we describe the design and synthesis of a difluoromethylsulfonyl imidazolium salt, which can act as a radical difluoromethylation reagent to achieve the challenging amino- and oxy-difluoromethylation of alkenes. Notably, the three steps for the synthesis of the imidazolium salt do not require any tedious distillation or column chromatography purification process, and the amino- and oxy-difluoromethylation paths are simply determined by the selection of reaction solvents.

Abstract
A successful Cu-catalyzed addition of both Cl and SO2OCF2H groups into alkenes allows us to discover the unusual reactivity of the SO2OCF2H group. As opposed to common sulfonic esters (RSO2-O-R'), in which the R' group is highly electrophilic, the SO2 moiety demonstrates higher electrophilicity in RSO2-OCF2H. The unexpected reactivity is further developed not only as a synthetic tool for well-functionalized alkenyl sulfonyl fluorides but also for the first 18F labeling of alkenyl sulfonyl fluorides.

Abstract
The classical Pummerer rearrangement of 2,2,2-trifluoroethylaryl sulfoxide with trifluoracetic anhydride (TFAA) affords the S , O -acetal efficiently. In the presence of trifluoracetic acid (TFA) as the co-solvent, the S , O -acetal can regenerate reactive thionium intermediate of Pummerer rearrangement. When employing arenes as nucleophiles, this strategy produces corresponding 1-thiyl-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl arenes with excellent yields under metal-free conditions.

Abstract
A practical method for the synthesis of 2,2-difluorinated 2,3-dihydrofurans has been established via the [4 + 1] annulation of enaminones and BrCF2CO2Et with Na2CO3 promotion. This new protocol does not employ any transition metal reagent and enables the annulative difluoromethylation by the partial cleavage of the C═C double bond. In addition, the further treatment with hydrochloric acid in one pot leads to β-keto enoic acids (4-oxo-2-butenoic acids) via a formal enaminone C-N carboxylation.

Abstract
Although cyanofluoroalkylation has received increasing attention, a toxic cyanation reagent is usually required. Herein, a Cu-catalyzed difluorocarbene-based cyanodifluoromethylation of alkenes with BrCF2CO2Et/NH4HCO3 under photocatalytic conditions is described. BrCF2CO2Et and NH4HCO3 serve as a carbon source and a nitrogen source of the nitrile group, respectively, avoiding the use of a stoichiometric toxic cyanation reagent. The Cu-complex plays a dual role. It is not only a photocatalyst, but also a coupling catalyst for the formation of a C-CN bond.

Abstract
A four-component reaction for electrophilic chloro(ω-alkoxy)lation of alkenes has been described. The stable chloro-iodine(iii) reagent and SOCl2 were used as electrophilic and nucleophilic chlorine sources, respectively. This approach provides a straightforward way to synthesize various useful β-chloro ω-chloroalkyl ethers from a wide range of alkenes, including electron-deficient, aromatic and unactivated alkenes. The synthetic applications of this approach were also explored in some useful transformations.

Abstract
A Ni(ii)-catalyzed enantioselective Michael addition of 2-acetyl azarenes with β-difluoromethyl substituted nitroalkenes was successfully realized, which afforded chiral CF2H-containing compounds in good enantioselectivities (up to 93% ee). This protocol provides a new convenient approach to all-carbon quaternary stereogenic centers featuring a CF2H group. Ni(ii)-catalyzed enantioselective Michael addition afforded compounds with all-carbon quaternary stereogenic centers featuring a CF2H group in good enantioselectivities.![]()

Abstract
The copper-catalyzed highly regioselective aminodifluoroalkylation of alkynes and α-bromodifluoroacetamides was realized for the first time. With this method, 3,3-difluoro-1H-pyrrol-2(3H)-ones were constructed in a single step from various alkynes and α-bromodifluoroacetamides substrates without using any extra oxidant.

Abstract
We have developed a novel and simple protocol for the direct incorporation of a difluoromethyl (CF2 H) group into alkenes by visible-light-driven photoredox catalysis. The use of fac-[Ir(ppy)3] (ppy=2-pyridylphenyl) photocatalyst and shelf-stable Hu's reagent, N-tosyl-S-difluoromethyl-S-phenylsulfoximine, as a CF2 H source is the key to success. The well-designed photoredox system achieves synthesis of not only β-CF2 H-substituted alcohols but also ethers and an ester from alkenes through solvolytic processes. The present method allows a single-step and regioselective formation of C(sp(3))-CF2 H and C(sp(3))-O bonds from C=C moiety in alkenes, such as hydroxydifluoromethylation, regardless of terminal or internal alkenes. Moreover, this methodology tolerates a variety of functional groups.
