Abstract
A tartaric acid-catalyzed three-component reaction of para-quinols, organoboronic acids, and alcohols affords meta-alkenylated aryl alkyl ether in good yields. In the absence of alcohols, meta-functionalized phenols could be obtained selectively.

Abstract
![]()
The
synthesis of functionalized (benz)aldehydes, via a two-step,
one-pot procedure, is presented. The method employs a stable aluminum
hemiaminal as a tetrahedral intermediate, protecting a latent aldehyde,
making it suitable for subsequent cross-coupling with (strong nucleophilic)
organometallic reagents, leading to a variety of alkyl and aryl substituted
benzaldehydes. This very fast methodology also facilitates the effective
synthesis of a 11C radiolabeled aldehyde. Aluminum–ate
complexes enable transmetalation of alkyl fragments onto palladium
and subsequent cross-coupling.

Abstract
A highly efficient Cu-catalyzed electrophilic amination reaction of readily available heteroarenes with O-benzoyl hydroxylamines via a one-pot C-H alumination is reported. The reactions were catalyzed using 1 mol % of CuCl to afford various heteroaryl amines in good to excellent yields. The direct C-H lithiation/transalumination of heteroarenes and catalytic amination sequence can be performed in a single vessel on gram scales.

Abstract
Cyclohexadienones are versatile platforms for performing asymmetric synthesis as evidenced by the numerous natural product syntheses that exploit their diverse reactivity profile. However, there are few general methods available for the direct asymmetric synthesis of chiral cyclohexadienones. To circumvent this problem, several researchers have developed catalytic asymmetric methods that employ readily available achiral 2,5-cyclohexadienones as substrates. Many of these reactions are desymmetrizations in which one of the enantiotopic alkenes of an achiral dienone is transformed. Others involve selective reaction at one alkene of an unsymmetrically substituted, achiral dienone. This review will cover advances in this area over the last 20 years and the application of these strategies in complex molecule synthesis.
