Abstract
The aryl O-carbamate (ArOAm) group is among the strongest of the directed metalation groups (DMGs) in directed ortho metalation (DoM) chemistry, especially in the form Ar-OCONEt2. Since the last comprehensive review of metalation chemistry involving ArOAms (published more than 30 years ago), the field has expanded significantly. For example, it now encompasses new substrates, solvent systems, and metalating agents, while conditions have been developed enabling metalation of ArOAm to be conducted in a green and sustainable manner. The ArOAm group has also proven to be effective in the anionic ortho-Fries (AoF) rearrangement, Directed remote metalation (DreM), iterative DoM sequences, and DoM-halogen dance (HalD) synthetic strategies and has been transformed into a diverse range of functionalities and coupled with various groups through a range of cross-coupling (CC) strategies. Of ultimate value, the ArOAm group has demonstrated utility in the synthesis of a diverse range of bioactive and polycyclic aromatic compounds for various applications.

Abstract
The Suzuki-Miyaura coupling is one of the ubiquitous method for the carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions in organic chemistry. Its popularity is due to its ability to undergo extensive coupling reactions to generate a broad range of biaryl motifs in a straightforward manner displaying a high level of functional group tolerance. A convenient and efficient synthetic route to arylate different substituted flavonols through the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction has been explained in this study. The arylated products were acquired by the coupling of a variety of aryl boronic acids with flavonols under Pd(OAc)2 catalyzed reaction conditions in a ligand-free reaction strategy. Subsequently, the antibiofilm and antivirulence properties of the arylated flavonols against Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 were studied thoroughly. The best ligands for quorum sensing proteins LasR, RhlR, and PqsR were identified using molecular docking study. These best fitting ligands were then studied for their impact on gene expression level of P. aeruginosa by RT-PCR towards quorum sensing genes lasB, rhlA, and pqsE. The downregulation in the gene expression with the effect of synthesized flavonols endorse the antibiofilm efficiency of the compounds.

Abstract
An efficient synthesis of substituted hexahydrobenzo[f]thieno[c]quinolines was achieved via catalytic one-pot aziridination followed by Friedel–Crafts cyclization and a mild Pictet–Spengler cyclization protocol. Cu(OTf)2 was an effective catalyst for both aziridination followed by Friedel–Crafts cyclization with excellent diastereoselectivity (dr: >99: 1) and high yield (75%).

Abstract
A convenient and efficient synthetic route to C3-arylated 7-trifluoromethylpyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-5-one derivatives has been reported starting from 3-bromo-7-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-5-one through a Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. The arylation (heteroarylation) strategy can be performed using a wide variety of aryl and heteroaryl boronic acids and requiring a tandem catalyst XPhosPdG2/XPhos to avoid the debromination reaction. These optimized conditions were successfully extended to the synthesis of 7-, 8- and 9-arylated pyrimido[1,2-b]indazol-2-ones from their corresponding brominated starting materials. Furthermore, the second C-5 arylation of C3-arylated pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-5-ones was achieved under standard Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling conditions, after activating the C–O bond of the lactam function with PyBroP, giving access to a small library of 3,5-diarylated 7-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines in good to excellent yields. The interest of this approach has been highlighted by the synthesis of a known anti-inflammatory agent. Additionally, a preliminary biological evaluation has revealed that a number of derivatives display micromolar IC50 values against monoamine oxidase B, an important target in the field of neurodegenerative disorders. A convenient and efficient synthetic route to C3-arylated 7-trifluoromethylpyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-5-one derivatives has been reported starting from 3-bromo-7-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-5-one through a Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling reaction.![]()

Abstract
The reactions of o-lithiated O-aryl N,N-diethylcarbamates with different C-N multiple bond electrophiles have been thoroughly studied. A 1,5-O → N carbamoyl shift, a new variation of the anionic Fries-type rearrangement, takes place when nitriles, imines, or alkylcarbodiimides are employed. In these cases, the carbamoyl group plays a dual role as a directing group, building up a variety of functional groups through the 1,5-O → N carbamoyl migration. On the other hand, the use of iso(thio)cyanates and arylcarbodiimides led to non-rearranged o-functionalized O-arylcarbamates. This reactivity was further computationally explored, and the governing factor could be traced back to the relative basicity of the alternative products (migrated vs nonmigrated substrates). This exploration also provided interesting insights about the degree of complexation of the lithium cations onto these substrates. A new access to useful 2-hydroxybenzophenone derivatives has also been developed.

Abstract
The DBU-mediated annulations of 2-aryl-3-nitro-2H-chromenes with 1,3-cyclohexanediones have been developed. This reaction involves a highly efficient domino sequence consisting of regioselective intermolecular Michael addition, intramolecular nucleophilic addition and aromatization as key unit steps. The reaction appears to be general for a variety of 2-aryl-3-nitro-2H-chromenes and tolerates the presence of aromatic moieties with electron-withdrawing and electron-donating substituents. This transformation provides a straightforward synthetic protocol for constructing benzofuro[2,3-c]chromenone derivatives.

Abstract
AbstractNovel push-pull fluorescent dyes, 7-(diethylamino)furo[3,2-c]coumarin and 7-(diethylamino)thieno[3,2-c]coumarin derivatives, were designed and synthesized using formyl derivatives of furo- and thieno[3,2-c]coumarins as key intermediates. Electron absorption and emission spectra of the dyes were recorded in different solvents. The longest-wave bands in the electron absorption spectra of the dyes are suggested to be of push-pull nature.

In the presence of triethylamine, the domino annulation reaction of two molecules of pivaloylacetonitrile with one molecule of 2-aryl-3-nitrochromene in tetrahydrofuran resulted in the unprecedented imino-substituted dihydrofuro[2,3-c]chromene derivatives in high yields.

Abstract
A total synthesis of coumestrol (1) and aureol (2) is described. The Perkin condensation of 2-bromo-4-hydroxylphenylacetic acid (6) and o-hydroxybenzaldehydes (7) gave the corresponding 2'-bromo-3-arylcoumarins (9). A copper-catalyzed consecutive hydroxylation and aerobic oxidative coupling of 9 under microwave conditions facilitated the total synthesis of 1 and 2, respectively, with spectroscopic data highly similar to those of natural products.

Abstract
Bulky amido ligands are precious in s-block chemistry, since they can implant complementary strong basic and weak nucleophilic properties within compounds. Recent work has shown the pivotal importance of the base structure with enhancement of basicity and extraordinary regioselectivities possible for cyclic alkali metal magnesiates containing mixed n-butyl/amido ligand sets. This work advances alkali metal and alkali metal magnesiate chemistry of the bulky arylsilyl amido ligand [N(SiMe3 )(Dipp)]- (Dipp=2,6-iPr2 -C6 H3 ). Infinite chain structures of the parent sodium and potassium amides are disclosed, adding to the few known crystallographically characterised unsolvated s-block metal amides. Solvation by N,N,N',N'',N''-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA) or N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) gives molecular variants of the lithium and sodium amides; whereas for potassium, PMDETA gives a molecular structure, TMEDA affords a novel, hemi-solvated infinite chain. Crystal structures of the first magnesiate examples of this amide in [MMg{N(SiMe3 )(Dipp)}2 (μ-nBu)]∞ (M=Na or K) are also revealed, though these breakdown to their homometallic components in donor solvents as revealed through NMR and DOSY studies.

Abstract
Synthetic scheme for the preparation of a number of different derivatives of anticancer natural product Psoralidin is described. A convergent synthetic approach is followed using simple starting materials like substituted phenyl acetic esters and benzoic acids. The developed synthetic route leads us to complete the first synthesis of an analogous natural product Lespeflorin I1, a mild melanin synthesis inhibitor. Preliminary bioactivity studies of the synthesized compounds are carried out against two commonly used prostate cancer cell lines. Results show that the bioactivity of the compounds can be manipulated by the simple modification of the functional groups.

Abstract
The formal synthesis of (+)-kopsihainanine A has been achieved via stereoselective reduction of tetracyclic iminium ion intermediates (24). However, attempts to synthesize (+)-limaspermidine by reduction of the same tetracyclic iminium ion intermediates have failed. The synthesis features a Suzuki cross-coupling reaction, a cyclization reaction mediated by trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride, and stereoselective reduction of an iminium ion.

A direct route to the synthesis of biologically active ellipticine quinones, olivacine, and calothrixin B is described. The prominent key steps involved are Friedel-Crafts hydroxyalkylation followed by oxidation and directed ortho-lithiation reactions of readily available indole-2-carboxylate esters with appropriately substituted pyridine and quinoline carboxaldehydes.
