Abstract
This study presents a pioneering semiconductor-catalyst core-shell architecture designed to enhance photocatalytic water oxidation activity significantly. This innovative assembly involves the in situ deposition of CoFe Prussian blue analogue (PBA) particles onto SrTiO3 (STO) and blue SrTiO3 (bSTO) nanocubes, effectively establishing a robust p-n junction, as demonstrated by Mott-Schottky analysis. Of notable significance, the STO/PB core-shell catalyst displayed remarkable photocatalytic performance, achieving an oxygen evolution rate of 129.6 μmol g-1 h-1, with stability over an extended 9-h in the presence of S2O82- as an electron scavenger. Thorough characterization unequivocally verified the precise alignment of the band energies within the STO/PB core-shell assembly. Our research underscores the critical role of tailored semiconductor-catalyst interfaces in advancing the realm of photocatalysis and its broader applications in renewable energy technologies.

Abstract
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and reflection electron energy loss spectroscopy (REELS) were employed to characterize the electronic properties of Prussian blue (PB) and its analogs when electrodeposited over metal-decorated carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Through an investigation of the influence of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and preparation conditions on the electronic structure, valuable insights were obtained regarding their effects on electrochemical properties. XPS analysis enabled the probing of the chemical composition and oxidation states of the film materials, unveiling synthesis-driven variations in their electronic properties. REELS provided information on energy loss and electronic transitions, enabling further characterization of the changes in the electronic structure induced by different preparation methods. Such findings emphasize the importance of surface characterization to understand how the unique electronic properties of such materials can be harnessed to enhance their performance and functionality.

Abstract
Electrocatalytic processes involving the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) present a kinetic bottleneck due to the existence of linear-scaling relationships, which bind the energies of the different intermediates in the mechanism limiting optimization. Here, we offer a way to break these scaling relationships and enhance the electrocatalytic activity of a Co-Fe Prussian blue modified electrode in OER by applying external stimuli. Improvements of ≈11 % and ≈57 % were achieved under magnetic field (0.2 T) and light irradiation (100 mW cm-2 ), respectively, when working at fixed overpotential, η=0.6 V at pH 7. The observed enhancements strongly tie in with the intermetallic charge transfer (IMCT) intensity between Fe and Co sites. Density Functional Theory simulations suggest that tuning the IMCT can lead to a change of the OER mechanism to an external stimuli-sensitive spin crossover-based pathway, which opens the way for switchable electrocatalytic devices.

Abstract
A targeted defect-induced strategy of metal sites in a porous framework is an efficient avenue to improve the performance of a catalyst. However, achieving such an activation without destroying the ordered framework is a major challenge. Herein, a dielectric barrier discharge plasma can etch the Fe(CN)6 group of the NiFe Prussian blue analogue framework in situ through reactive oxygen species generated in the air. Density functional theory calculations prove that the changed local electronic structure and coordination environment of Fe sites can significantly improve oxygen evolution reaction catalytic properties. The modified NiFe Prussian blue analogue is featured for only 316 mV at a high current density (100 mA cm-2), which is comparable to that of commercial alkaline catalysts. In a solar cell-driven alkaline electrolyzer, the overall electrolysis efficiency is up to 64% under real operation conditions. Over 80 h long-time continuous test under 100 mA cm-2 highlights superior durability. The density functional theory calculations confirm that the formation of OOH* is the rate-determining step over Fe sites, and Fe(CN)6 vacancy and extra oxygen atoms can introduce charge redistribution to the catalyst surface, which finally enhances the oxygen evolution reaction catalytic properties by reducing the overpotential by 0.10 V. Both experimental and theoretical results suggest that plasma treatment strategy is useful for modifying the skeletal material nondestructively at room temperature, which opens up a broad prospect in the field of catalyst production.

Abstract
High energy resource demand has led to the rapid development of hydrogen as a clean fuel through electrolytic water splitting. The exploration of high-performance and cost-effective electrocatalysts for water splitting is a challenging task to obtain renewable and clean energy. However, the sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) greatly hindered its application. Herein, a novel oxygen plasma-treated graphene quantum dots embedded Ni-Fe Prussian blue analogue (O-GQD-NiFe PBA) is proposed as a highly active electrocatalysts for OER. Furthermore, the defect induced by GQD can provide an abundant lattice mismatch in the matrix of NiFe PBA, which further facilitates faster electron transport and kinetic performance. After optimization, the as-assembled O-GQD-NiFe PBA exhibits excellent electrocatalytic performance towards OER with a low overpotential of 259 mV for reaching a current density of 10 mA cm-2 and impressive long-term stability for 100 h in an alkaline solution. This work broadens the scope of metal-organic frameworks (MOF) and high-functioning carbon composite as an active material for energy conversion systems.

Abstract
The stoichiometry of the components of hexacyanoferrate materials affecting their final porosity properties and applications in CO2 capture is an issue that is rarely studied. In this work, the effect that stoichiometry of all element components and oxidation states of transition metals has on the structures of mesoporous K or Na-cobalt hexacyanoferrates (CoHCFs) and CO2 removal is reported. A series of CoHCFs model systems are synthesized using the co-precipitation method with varying amounts of Co ions. CoHCFs are characterized by N2 adsorption, TGA, FTIR-ATR, XRD, and XPS. N2 adsorption results reveal a more developed external surface area (72.69-172.18 m2/g) generated in samples containing mixtures of K+/Fe2+/Fe3+ ions (system III) compared to samples with Na+/Fe2+ ions (systems I, II). TGA results show that the porous structure of CoHCFs is affected by Fe and Co ions oxidation states, the number of water molecules, and alkali ions. The formation of two crystalline cells (FCC and triclinic) is confirmed by XRD results. Fe and Co oxidation states are authenticated by XPS and allow for the confirmation of charges involved in the stabilization of CoCHFs. CO2 removal capacities (3.04 mmol/g) are comparable with other materials reported. CO2 adsorption kinetics is fast (3-6 s), making CoHCFs attractive for continuous operations. Qst (24.3 kJ/mol) reveals a physical adsorption process. Regeneration effectiveness for adsorption/desorption cycles indicates ~1.6% loss and selectivity (~47) for gas mixtures (CO2:N2 = 15:85). The results of this study demonstrate that the CoHCFs have practical implications in the potential use of CO2 capture and flue gas separations.

Abstract
Although several strategies have been developed to improve the efficiency of heterogeneous Fenton-like reactions, investigating the relationship among the electronic properties of the catalyst surface, the complex water matrix and catalytic activity remains challenges. Herein, the electron density of the active site Co(II) in Co Prussian blue analogs (Co-PBAs) is proved to be modulated by the anion source method. The elevated electron density of Co(II) and the higher metallicity of the catalyst lead to an increase in electron transport efficiency as revealed by X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Furthermore, the negative shift of the D-band center of Co(II) can effectively release intermediates to avoid catalyst poisoning. Bicarbonate has been demonstrated to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) by weakening the peroxide bond. Its activation mechanism involves free radical mechanism and non-radical mechanism: the first step is the generation of HCO4-, then it is further hydrolyzed to generate •OH and 1O2, and the other is HCO4- interact with Co(III) to form Co(IV)=O. In addition, the degradation pathways of target contaminants p-nitrophenol and toxicity verification of intermediate products have been investigated. This study provides guidance for the research of Fenton-like reactions.

Abstract
Cobalt Prussian blue analogues (Co-PBA; NaxCo[Fe(CN)6]y), consisting of cyano-bridged transition metal network, –Fe–CN–Co–NC–Fe–, are promising cathode materials for Na-ion secondary batteries. In the oxidation process, oxidization of Fe and/or Co are compensated by Na+ deintercalation. Here, we investigated the oxidization process of three Co-PBAs by means of in situ infrared absorption (IR) spectroscopy. With use of an empirical rule of the frequencies of the CN− stretching mode in ferrocyanide ([FeII(CN)6]4−) and ferricyanide ([FeIII(CN)6]3−), the oxidation processes of Co-PBAs were determined against the Fe concentration (y) and temperature (T). We will discuss the interrelation between the oxidation processes and Fe concentration (y).

Abstract
Prussian blue (PB) and its analogues (PBAs) have at least a three-century-long history in coordination chemistry. Recently, cobalt-based PBAs have been acknowledged as efficient and robust water oxidation catalysts. Given the flexibility in their synthesis, the structure and morphology of cobalt-based PBAs have been modified for enhanced catalytic activity under electrochemical (EC), photocatalytic (PC), and photoelectrochemical (PEC) conditions. Here, in this review, the work on cobalt-based PBAs is presented in four sections: i) electrocatalytic water oxidation with bare PBAs, ii) photocatalytic processes in the presence of a photosensitizer (PS), iii) photoelectrochemical water oxidation by coupling PBAs to proper semiconductors (SCs), and iv) the utilization of PBA-PS assemblies coated on SCs for the dye-sensitized photoelectrochemical water oxidation. This review will guide readers through the structure and catalytic activity relationship in cobalt-based PBAs by describing the role of each structural component. Furthermore, this review aims to provide insight into common strategies to enhance the catalytic activity of PBAs.

Abstract
A recently emerging visible light-absorbing semiconductor, brown TiO2 (b-TiO2), was coupled with a CoFe Prussian blue (PB) analogue to prepare an entirely earth-abundant semiconductor/water oxidation catalyst hybrid assembly. PB/b-TiO2 exhibits a sevenfold higher photocatalytic water oxidation activity compared to b-TiO2. An elegant band alignment unified with the optical absorption of b-TiO2 and excellent electronic dynamics of PB yield a high-performance photocatalytic system.

Abstract
Li-ion storage devices having superior energy density are critical for one-time-charge long-term applications. Currently, much research endeavor is directed at enhancing the energy density of hybrid Li-ion capacitors, which incorporate the high energy of conventional Li-ion batteries with the elevated power density of Li-ion supercapacitors. Herein, we prepare orthorhombic GdCo(CN)6 as a new Prussian blue analogue (PBA), showing that this compound offers excellent energy/power densities (605 W·h kg-1 and 174 W kg-1, respectively) and features Li-ion storage capacities (352 and 258 mA·h gelectrode-1 at 100 and 1000 mA g-1, respectively) that are almost twice higher than those of other cathode materials utilized in hybrid Li-ion capacitors. Thus, this study not only opens a new path for the exploration of new-type PBAs, but also provides insights on the use of lanthanides in energy storage applications.

Abstract
The realization of artificial photosynthesis may depend on the efficient integration of photoactive semiconductors and catalysts to promote photoelectrochemical water splitting. Many efforts are currently devoted to the processing of multicomponent anodes and cathodes in the search for appropriate synergy between light absorbers and active catalysts. No single material appears to combine both features. Many experimental parameters are key to achieve the needed synergy between both systems, without clear protocols for success. Herein, we show how computational chemistry can shed some light on this cumbersome problem. DFT calculations are useful to predict adequate energy-level alignment for thermodynamically favored hole transfer. As proof of concept, we experimentally confirmed the limited performance enhancement in hematite photoanodes decorated with cobalt hexacyanoferrate as a competent water-oxidation catalyst. Computational methods describe the misalignment of their energy levels, which is the origin of this mismatch. Photoelectrochemical studies indicate that the catalyst exclusively shifts the hematite surface state to lower potentials, which therefore reduces the onset for water oxidation. Although kinetics will still depend on interface architecture, our simple theoretical approach may identify and predict plausible semiconductor/catalyst combinations, which will speed up experimental work towards promising photoelectrocatalytic systems.

Abstract
The efficient integration of photoactive and catalytic materials is key to promoting photoelectrochemical water splitting as a sustainable energy technology built on solar power. Here, we report highly stable water splitting photoanodes from BiVO4 photoactive cores decorated with CoFe Prussian blue-type electrocatalysts (CoFe-PB). This combination decreases the onset potential of BiVO4 by ∼0.8 V (down to 0.3 V vs reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE)) and increases the photovoltage by 0.45 V. The presence of the catalyst also leads to a remarkable 6-fold enhancement of the photocurrent at 1.23 V versus RHE, while keeping the light-harvesting ability of BiVO4. Structural and mechanistic studies indicate that CoFe-PB effectively acts as a true catalyst on BiVO4. This mechanism, stemming from the adequate alignment of the energy levels, as showed by density functional theory calculations, allows CoFe-PB to outperform all previous catalyst/BiVO4 junctions and, in addition, leads to noteworthy long-term stability. A bare 10-15% decrease in photocurrent was observed after more than 50 h of operation under light irradiation.

Abstract
In this paper, a series of well-coupled graphene (G) and MPd3 (M = Fe, Cu, Ag, Au, Cr, Mo, W) nanocrystals nanocomposites (G-MPd3 NCPs) have been synthesized via a versatile electrostatic assembly and hydrogen reduction strategy, i.e., sequential assembly of coordination anions and cations on excess cationic polymer modified graphene oxide to form composite precursors and then thermal treating under H2/Ar gases atmosphere. In those NCPs, the MPd3 components are uniform and smaller than 10 nm, which are well anchored on G with "naked" or "clean" surfaces. By adjusting reaction temperature, the interplay of MPd3 nanocrystals and G can be well-controlled. Below 700 °C, no sintering phenomena are observed, indicating the unprecedented dispersion and stability effect of G for MPd3 nanocrystals. All the obtained NCPs can be directly used to catalyze oxygen reduction reaction in alkaline media. Compared with single component, monometallic, and some reported non-Pt catalysts, greatly enhanced electrocatalytic performances are observed in those NCPs due to strong synergistic or coupling of their constituents. Among them, G-FePd3 NCPs exhibit the highest catalytic activity, but their current density needs to be improved compared with G-CrPd3, G-MoPd3, and G-WPd3 ones. This work not only provides a general strategy for fabricating well-coupled G-MPd3 NCPs but also paves the way for future designing multicomponent NCPs with multiple interfaces to apply in alkaline fuel cells.

Abstract
Resonant couplings of the electronic states and the stretching vibrations of CN(-) ligands, which bridges metal ions, is investigated by resonance Raman spectroscopy for Rb(0.94)Mn[Fe(CN)6](0.98)·0.2H2O. Large excitation wavelength dependences over one order of magnitude were found for Raman peaks corresponding to different valence pairs of metal ions in the excitation wavelength range between 350 and 632 nm. In the thermal low-temperature phase, the CN(-) stretching modes due to the low-temperature-phase configuration (Fe(2+)-Mn(3+)) and the phase-boundary configuration (Fe(3+)-Mn(3+)) are coupled to the Fe(2+)-to-Mn(3+) intervalence transfer band and Jahn-Teller distorted Mn(3+) d-d transition band, respectively. In the photoinduced low-temperature phase, the Fe(3+)-Mn(3+) mode shows strong resonant enhancement with the CN(-)-to-Fe(3+) charge-transfer band, which exists in the high-temperature phase with a cubic structure. From these resonance behaviors, we conclude that the local lattice symmetry of the photoinduced phase is cubic in contrast with the tetragonal symmetry in the thermal low-temperature phase.
