Abstract
CONTEXT The study of platinum (Pt) clusters and nanoparticles is essential due to their extensive range of potential technological applications, particularly in catalysis. The electronic properties that yield optimal catalytic performance at the nanoscale are significantly influenced by the size and structure of Pt clusters. This research aimed to identify the lowest-energy conformers for Pt18 , Pt19 , and Pt20 species using Density Functional Theory (DFT). We discovered new low-symmetry conformers for Pt19 and Pt20 , which are 3.0 and 1.0 kcal/mol more stable, respectively, than previously reported structures. Our study highlights the importance of using density functional approximations that incorporate moderate levels of exact Hartree-Fock exchange, alongside basis sets of at least quadruple-zeta quality. The resulting structures are asymmetric with varying active sites, as evidenced by sigma hole analysis on the electrostatic potential surface. This suggests a potential correlation between electronic structure and catalytic properties, warranting further investigation. METHODS An equivariant graph neural network interatomic potential (NequIP) within the Atomic Simulation Environment suite (ASE) was used to provide initial geometries of the aggregates under study. DFT calculations were performed with the ORCA 5 package, using functional approximations that included Generalized Gradient Approximation (PBE), meta-GGA (TPSS, M06-L), hybrid (PBE0, PBEh), meta-GGA hybrid (TPSSh), and range-separated hybrid ( ω B97x) functionals. Def2-TZVP and Def2-QZVP as well as members of the cc-pwCVXZ-PP family to check basis set convergence were used. QTAIM calculations were performed using the AIMAll suite. Structures were visualized with the AVOGADRO code.

Abstract
The use of implicit solvation models such as the conductor-like screening model (COSMO) in quantum chemical calculations is very common, as both a rough estimate of solvation effects as well as a general tool for stabilizing ionic molecular structures. In order to generate a smooth potential energy surface as well as consistent gradients, it is necessary to apply the Gaussian charge model (GCM) for the COSMO charges. This work introduces an efficient implementation for consistent analytical second derivatives of the electronic energy with COSMO-GCM in the framework of the Kohn-Sham density functional theory. This is used to investigate the infrared spectroscopy of amino acids in aqueous solution, where the impact of pH on the molecular structure and vibrational spectra is examined. Furthermore, the structure and stability of selected all-metal aromatic cluster ions are assessed.

Abstract
A new polydentate fac-trioxo molybdenum complex, [MoO(3)L](3-) {LH(3) = nitrilotriacetic acid}, has been synthesized by the reaction of lithium molybdate with iminodiacetic acid. The trinegative complex anion coordinates the alkali metal cations, K(+), Rb(+) or Cs(+). The potassium, rubidium and cesium complexes, [Li{K(H(2)O)(2)}MoO(3)L](n) (1), [Li{Rb(H(2)O)(2)}MoO(3)L](n) (2) and [Cs{Li(H(2)O)}(2)MoO(3)L](n) (3), form heterotrimetallic coordination chains, containing planar rings of Li(2)M(2) (M = K or Rb) and Cs(4). Theoretical investigations on these rings were carried out using NICS calculations and ab initio ring current maps, revealing aromaticity to be of limited significance.

Abstract
The influence of presence of counter ions and π-complexation with benzene on the bonding and magnetic properties of Al(4)(2-), the most studied all-metal cluster, is studied here. It is shown that complexation by either counter ions or benzene decreases the delocalization index between Al atoms and the magnitude of bond magnetizability, that is a Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules, QTAIM, -based magnetic index of aromaticity. Benzene forms two types of π-complexes with the Al(4) framework; CH-π (T-shaped) complexes and parallel π-π stacking (PPS) complexes. It is shown that variation in the π-charge of the Al(4) framework affects the relative stability of the T-shaped/PPS complexes. Free Al(4)(2-) forms a stable T-shaped anion-π complex with benzene but in the presence of cations, formation of PPS complexes is more favourable, energetically. It is suggested that this property could be used for designing molecular switches and tuneable anion sensors.

Abstract
Aromaticity is a property usually linked to the ground state of stable molecules. Although it is well-known that certain excited states are unquestionably aromatic, the aromaticity of excited states remains rather unexplored. To move one step forward in the comprehension of aromaticity in excited states, in this work we analyze the electron delocalization and aromaticity of a series of low-lying excited states of cyclobutadiene, benzene, and cyclooctatetraene with different multiplicities at the CASSCF level by means of electron delocalization measures. While our results are in agreement with Baird's rule for the aromaticity of the lowest-lying triplet excited state in annulenes having 4nπ-electrons, they do not support Soncini and Fowler's generalization of Baird's rule pointing out that the lowest-lying quintet state of benzene and septet state of cyclooctatetraene are not aromatic.

Abstract
For the Hirshfeld-I atom in the molecule (AIM) model, associated single-atom energies and interaction energies at the Hartree-Fock level are efficiently determined in one-electron Hilbert space. In contrast to most other approaches, the energy terms are fully consistent with the partitioning of the underlying one-electron density matrix (1DM). Starting from the Hirshfeld-I AIM model for the electron density, the molecular 1DM is partitioned with a previously introduced double-atom scheme (Vanfleteren et al., J Chem Phys 2010, 132, 164111). Single-atom density matrices are constructed from the atomic and bond contributions of the double-atom scheme. As the Hartree-Fock energy can be expressed solely in terms of the 1DM, the partitioning of the latter over the AIM naturally leads to a corresponding partitioning of the Hartree-Fock energy. When the size of the molecule or the molecular basis set does not grow too large, the method shows considerable computational advantages compared with other approaches that require cumbersome numerical integration of the molecular energy integrals weighted by atomic weight functions.

Abstract
The nature of bonding and aromaticity of Ti(3)(CO)(3), a mill-shaped metal-carbonyl complex, is studied carefully. A unique bonding mechanism between metal and carbonyl groups is found in this species. Ti(3)(CO)(3) is an example of a metal-carbonyl complex with prominent metal to carbonyl donation. Moreover, it is proven that not only is Ti(3)(CO)(3) not an antiaromatic complex but also it is the first synthesized example of d-block, σ+π aromatic species. A quick survey among the first row of transition metals in the periodic table shows that other local minima with similar structures and aromaticity are present and Ti(3)(CO)(3) is the first synthesized species of an unknown family.
