Abstract
Photocatalytic hydrogen evolution by water splitting has become a very effective way to solve the energy crisis. For use in that process, graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) has drawn much attention for its response in the visible region. However, its insufficient sunlight absorption efficiency and easy recombination of photoinduced carriers restrict its photocatalytic activity. Herein, we demonstrate a two-step liquid ultrasonic method in water to synthesize a series of tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ)-C3N4 photocatalysts aiming to form a conjugated structure by 7,7,8,8-TCNQ. g-C3N4 was treated with APTES firstly on its surface in order to give a better interface contact with TCNQ. Benefiting from the conjugation effect between TCNQ and g-C3N4, the separation and transport efficiency of photogenerated carriers were significantly improved. Besides, introducing TCNQ also broadened the absorption region. Both of these points lead to the enhancement of photocatalytic H2 production rate, with the optimized 5% TCNQ-C3N4 giving a rate nearly 9.48 times that of pure g-C3N4. Also, 5% TCNQ-C3N4 (U) was prepared with unmodified g-C3N4, which exhibited a rate only 6.87 times that of pure g-C3N4, thus validating the necessity of surface modification. Our work reveals that the rational conjugated structure could modulate the electrical and optical properties of g-C3N4, yielding an improvement of photocatalytic activities.

Abstract
We report the fabrication, structure, and heteropolyanion structure effect of polyoxometalate (POM)/ionic liquid (IL) supramolecular gels. These supramolecular gels exhibit ordered structures, as a result of their excellent reversible self-assembly, and they show various physicochemical properties, determined by the heteropolyanion structure effect of POM anions. Specifically, the formation of POM/IL supramolecular gels results in a highly ordered layer-shape structure, which has been calculated using X-ray powder diffraction patterns and proven by transmission electron microscopy images for the first time. When these POM/IL supramolecular gels are heated, they become viscous liquid sols, with melting isotropic drops and even flowerlike structures on microscopic scales, while it undergoes a reversible gel-sol phase transformation from gel to sol. The heteropolyanion structure effect in these two IL gels, [TBTP]5PW10V2O40 and [TBTP]8P2W16V2O62, on their physicochemical properties is demonstrated. The POM structures have a strong structure effect on the physicochemical properties. As the size of heteropolyanions increases, there is a significant improvement in the conductivity, thermal performance, and oxidizability, with a lower phase inversion temperature, which means that the Dawson-type compound, [TBTP]8P2W16V2O62, has a higher conductivity, lower melting point, stronger oxidizability, and better thermal performance than the Keggin-type compound, [TBTP]5PW10V2O40, under the same conditions.

Abstract
Self-assembled TCNQ-PTCDI composite photocatalysts can not only degrade phenol at a rate of 0.154 h-1, which is 10.4 times higher than that of pure PTCDI, but also produce oxygen at a rate of ∼14 μmol·g-1·h-1 without cocatalysts. The π-π interactions between TCNQ and PTCDI result in fast transfer of carriers and reduced carrier recombination. The interaction lowers the valence band and narrows the band gap, thus leading to a stronger oxidizability and a broad spectral response (∼730 nm). Moreover, the presence of TCNQ stabilizes the composite to decrease the accumulation of negative charge, which results in an excellent stability of the composite. The high catalytic activity can potentially be utilized in the fields of environmental and energy applications.

Abstract
Three l-tartaric acid based symmetrical A-π-D-chiral-D-π-A type structural isomeric nitrobenzylidenes (1-3) have been synthesized with intent to achieve isomer specific metallogels with intramolecular charge transfer properties. Alkali metal ions in these systems not only trigger charge transfer but also play a vital role in gelation. The presence of intramolecular rather than intermolecular charge transfer as well as aggregation has been well established by various kinds of experiments using UV-vis, CD, (1)H NMR, DFT and crystallography techniques. The role of alkali metal ions in triggering ICT was proved by titration with their respective crown ethers. Notably, Na(+) afforded twisted fiber morphology whilst Li(+) gave merely long range fibers. The true gel phase material was proved by detailed rheological studies.

Abstract
Although molecular metals have been known for decades, their insolubility, low vapor pressure, and synthesis routes have prevented them from being integrated into electronic devices. We have prepared stable colloidal solutions of the organic metal TTF-TCNQ that overcome such difficulties. The solutions contain well-dispersed nanoparticles stabilized by long alkyl chain amines. They afford soluble powders by evaporation and homogeneous thin films by drop-casting. Powders and films show room temperature conductivities in the 0.01-0.1 S cm(-1) range.

Abstract
A highly sensitive acetylcholinesterase biosensor was developed for detection of carbamate drugs based on TTF-TCNQ-ionic liquid gel thiocholine sensor. The TTF-TCNQ-ionic/ionic liquid gel was characterized by FT-IR and scanning electron microscopy. The electrocatalytic behavior of TTF-TCNQ-ionic liquid gels toward oxidation of thiocholine was thoroughly investigated. 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetracyanoborate gel based sensor allowed amperometric detection of thiocholine at +400 mV vs. Ag/AgCl with a high sensitivity of 55.9±1.2 μA mM(-1)cm(-2) and a low detection limit equal to 7.6 μM. The catalytic rate constant and diffusion constant of thiocholine were estimated from chronoamperometric data. The proposed biosensor based on AChE immobilized in sol-gel matrix was used for the detection of two carbamate therapeutic drugs. Very low detection limits of 26 pM eserine and 0.3 nM neostigmine were achieved. The analysis of spiked tap water proved the biosensor capability to be used as a screening method for detection of carbamate drugs in wastewaters.
