Abstract
Herein, we report the Suzuki–Miyaura catalyst-transfer polycondensation (SCTP) of triolborate-type carbazole monomers, i.e., potassium 3-(6-bromo-9-(2-octyldodecyl)-9H-carbazole-2-yl)triolborate (M1) and potassium 2-(7-bromo-9-(2-octyldodecyl)-9H-carbazole-2-yl) triolborate (M2), as an efficient and versatile approach for precisely synthesizing poly[9-(2-octyldodecyl)-3,6-carbazole] (3,6-PCz) and poly[9-(2-octyldodecyl)-2,7-carbazole] (2,7-PCz), respectively. The SCTP of triolborate-type carbazole monomers was performed in a mixture of THF/H2O using an initiating system consisted of 4-iodobenzyl alcohol, Pd2(dba)3•CHCl3, and t-Bu3P. In the SCTP of M1, cyclic by-product formation was confirmed, as reported for the corresponding pinacolboronate-type monomer. By optimizing the reaction temperature and reaction time, we successfully synthesized linear end-functionalized 3,6-PCz for the first time. The SCTP of M2 proceeded with almost no side reaction, yielding 2,7-PCz with a functional initiator residue at the α-chain end. Kinetic and block copolymerization experiments demonstrated that the SCTP of M2 proceeded in a chain-growth and controlled/living polymerization manner. This is a novel study on the synthesis of 2,7-PCz via SCTP. By taking advantage of the well-controlled nature of this polymerization system, we demonstrated the synthesis of high-molecular-weight 2,7-PCzs (Mn = 5–38 kg mol−1) with a relatively narrow ÐM (1.35–1.48). Furthermore, we successfully synthesized fluorene/carbazole copolymers as well as 2,7-PCz-containing diblock copolymers, demonstrating the versatility of the present polymerization system as a novel synthetic strategy for well-defined polycarbazole-based materials.

Abstract
The photoelectric properties and catalytic activities of substituted triphenylphosphine and sulfur/selenium ligand supported aromatic triangular tri-palladium complexes 1-4, abbreviated as [Pd3]+, were investigated. The cyclic voltammogram of [Pd3]+ in CH3CN-nBu4NPF6 showed a single quasi-reversible wave which was consistent with their robust property and provided preliminary proof for their electron transfer processes in catalysis. With excitation at 267 nm, [Pd3]+ exhibited strong ratiometric fluorescence at 550 and 780 nm at a temperature gradient from 77 K to 287 K. These peculiar triangular tri-palladium complexes showed excellent catalytic activities and exclusive reactivity with aryl iodides over the other halogenated aromatics in the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction. The electronic and steric hindrance effects of substituents on the aryl iodides and aryl boronic acids including heteroaromatics like pyridine, pyrazine and thiophenes were explored and most substrates achieved up to 99% of yields. (2-[1,1'-Biphenyl]-2-ylbenzothiazole) which was analogous to the selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors was also synthesized with our tri-palladium catalyst and gave good isolated yield (94%). The study of the catalytic process revealed that the mechanism of the reaction may involve the replacement of the sulphur ligand on [Pd3]+ by iodine from aryl iodides, which was beneficial for the matching of C-I bond energy.

Abstract
Electron-deficient (n-type) conjugated materials are commonly prepared via step-growth methods with limited control over the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of the resulting polymers. In this communication, we demonstrate that Pd-dialkylbiarylphosphine catalysts enable the chain-growth polymerization of benzo[1,2,3]triazole using Suzuki-Miyaura coupling with molecular weight control and modest molecular weight distributions (Đ ∼ 1.2-1.6). The importance of a free ligand in the reaction mixture during polymerization was established by analysis of polymer samples using GPC and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. A block copolymer with poly(3-hexylthiophene) was also synthesized by sequential monomer addition. The success of these commercially available catalysts for polymerization of benzotriazole highlights their potential for chain-growth reactions with other bicyclic arenes in the future.

Abstract
While current M0 /MII based polymerization strategies largely focus on fine-tuning the catalyst, reagents and conditions for each and every monomer, this report discloses a single method that allows access to a variety of different conjugated polymers within seconds at room temperature. Key to this privileged reactivity is an air- and moisture stable dinuclear PdI catalyst. The method is operationally simple, robust and tolerant to air.

Abstract
Controlled Pd(0)-catalyzed Suzuki cross-coupling polymerizations of AB-type monomers with tris(1-adamantyl)phosphine (Ad3P) as the ligand was described. Ad3P-coordinated acetanilide-based palladacycle complex (1) was demonstrated to be an efficient initiator for controlled Suzuki cross-coupling polymerization, affording polymers with narrow Đs and well-controlled end groups. Our study provided an efficient ligand and an efficient initiator for controlled Suzuki cross-coupling polymerizations.

Abstract
Polymerizing electron-deficient arenes in a controlled, chain-growth fashion remains a significant challenge despite a decade of research on catalyst-transfer polycondensation. The prevailing hypothesis is that the chain-growth mechanism stalls at a strongly associated metal-polymer π-complex, preventing catalyst turnover. To evaluate this hypothesis, we performed mechanistic studies using thiazole derivatives and identified approaches to improve their chain-growth polymerization. These studies revealed a surprisingly high barrier for chain-walking toward the reactive C-X bond. In addition, a competitive pathway involving chain-transfer to monomer was identified. This pathway is facilitated by ancillary ligand dissociation and N-coordination to the incoming monomer. We found that this chain-transfer pathway can be attenuated by using a rigid ancillary ligand, leading to an improved polymerization. Combined, these studies provide mechanistic insight into the challenges associated with electron-deficient monomers as well as ways to improve their living, chain-growth polymerization. Our mechanistic studies also revealed an unexpected radical anion-mediated oligomerization in the absence of catalyst, as well as a surprising oxidative addition into the thiazole C-S bond in a model system.

Abstract
t-Bu3P-coordinated 2-phenylaniline-based palladacycle complex (1) as the unique source of Pd(0)/t-Bu3P to form efficient initiators with ArBr for controlled Suzuki cross-coupling polymerizations of AB-type monomers was described. The in situ generated initiators were demonstrated to be robust initiator systems for controlled Suzuki cross-coupling polymerization, affording polymers with unprecedentedly narrow PDIs and well-controlled functional end groups. 31P NMR study suggested that the fast and efficient generation of ArPd(t-Bu3P)Br complexes from precatalyst 1 and ArBr might be the reason for better control of polymerization with precatalyst 1/ArBr as initiators. Our study provided a family of unprecedented, highly efficient initiators for controlled Suzuki cross-coupling polymerizations and a direct route to access conjugated polymers with a variety of heterobisfunctional chain end groups.
