Abstract
Lactones represent a class of fundamental structural motifs ubiquitous in nature, holding significance across diverse scientific domains such as pharmaceuticals, natural products, drug discovery, and industry. Despite their simplicity, the synthesis of lactones has garnered considerable interest due to their pivotal roles. Gold, traditionally regarded as a noble metal, has emerged as an efficient catalyst, challenging conventional perceptions. The utilization of gold in lactone synthesis has captivated researchers, leading to the development of numerous effective methodologies. Motivated by this, we present a comprehensive compilation of reports on the gold-catalyzed synthesis of lactones, encompassing literature till date.

Abstract
Gold-catalyzed regiodivergent cycloadditions of functionalized allenes with 1,3,5-triazines, providing diverse N-heterocycles in moderate to excellent yields under mild reaction conditions, are reported. Importantly, different types of allenes exhibit distinct selectivity and reactivity for the reactions. Mechanistic investigations reveal that all of the cycloadditions proceed through a stepwise [2 + 2 + 2]-cycloaddition process.

Abstract
The intermolecular hydroamination of allenes occurs readily with hydrazide nucleophiles, in the presence of 3-12% Ph(3)PAuNTf(2). Mechanistic studies have been conducted to establish the resting state of the gold catalyst, the kinetic order of the reaction, the effect of ligand electronics on the overall rate, and the reversibility of the last steps in the catalytic cycle. We have found the overall reaction to be first order in gold and allene and zero order in nucleophile. Our studies suggest that the rate-limiting transition state for the reaction does not involve the nucleophile and that the active catalyst is monomeric in gold(I). Computational studies support an "outersphere" mechanism and predict that a two-step, no intermediate mechanism may be operative. In accord with this mechanistic proposal, the reaction can be accelerated with the use of more electron-deficient phosphine ligands on the gold(I) catalyst.

Abstract
A new strategy for gold and palladium dual-catalytic reactivity and turnover, called catalyzed catalysis, enhanced the synthetic usefulness of vinylgold intermediates by providing dual-catalytic carbon-carbon cross-coupling as an alternative to protodemetalation. This protocol enabled the synthesis of substituted butenolides and isocoumarins from allyl esters. Kinetic and spectroscopic experiments support a mechanism in which the Lewis acidic gold complex catalyzes both an initial rearrangement step and a subsequent Lewis basic palladium oxidative-addition step.

Abstract
A comparative study of the Au(I)-catalyzed [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of propargylic esters and propargyl vinyl ethers is described. Stereochemically defined cyclopropanes are employed as mechanistic probes to provide new synthetic and theoretical data concerning the reversibility of this type of rearrangement. Factors controlling the structure-reactivity relationship of Au(I)-coordinated allenes have been examined, thereby allowing for controlled access to orthogonal reactivity.
