Abstract
The combination of the (1,3-dithiol-2-ylidene)malononitrile (DTYM) and/or (1,3-dithiol-2-ylidene)acetonitrile (DTYA) moieties with naphthalenediimide (NDI) core affords two singly linked NDI-based dimers, (DTYM-NDI-DTYA)2 (D1) and (NDI-DTYA)2 (D2), which both contain a dicyano-substituted vinylogous tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) unit. The synthesis, thermal/optical/electrochemical properties of D1 and D2, and their primary applications in n-channel organic thin film transistors are studied. The results demonstrate that these NDI-fused vinylogous TTFs are excellent electron acceptors, and their further applications are promising.

Abstract
The redox interactions between HAuCl4 and a series of π-conjugated organic donors, namely carboxylated dithiafulvenes and tetrathiafulvalene vinylogues, were investigated. Interestingly, the dithiafulvene derivative with two carboxylic groups showed the ability to directly induce the formation of Au(0) nanoparticles in dipolar aprotic solvents such as DMF and DMSO.

Abstract
A series of bis(dithiafulvenyl)-end-capped fluorene derivatives was prepared and subjected to a one-pot iodine-promoted oxidative polymerization to yield π-conjugated co-oligomers containing tetrathiafulvalene vinylogue and fluorene repeat units. The resulting π-oligomers were characterized to take either acyclic or cyclic molecular structures, depending on the π-conjugation length of the monomer used for the polymerization. Electronic and electrochemical redox properties were examined by UV-vis spectroscopic and cyclic voltammetric analyses, while the supramolecular interactions of the π-oligomers with single-walled carbon nanotubes were investigated by UV-vis-NIR and Raman spectroscopy.

Abstract
A class of carboxyl and carboxylate ester-substituted dithiafulvene (DTF) derivatives and tetrathiafulvalene vinylogues (TTFVs) has been synthesized and their electronic and electrochemical redox properties were characterized by UV-vis spectroscopic and cyclic voltammetric analyses. The carboxyl-TTFV was applied as a redox-active ligand to complex with Zn(II) ions, forming a stable Zn-TTFV coordination polymer. The structural, electrochemical, and thermal properties of the coordination polymer were investigated by infrared spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, powder X-ray diffraction, and differential scanning calorimetric analyses. Furthermore, the microscopic porosity and surface area of the Zn-TTFV coordination polymer were measured by nitrogen gas adsorption analysis, showing a BET surface of 148.2 m(2) g(-1) and an average pore diameter of 10.2 nm.

Abstract
Although tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) and its derivatives have been extensively studied as important organic electronic materials over the past half century, tetrathiafulvalene vinyl-ogues (TTFVs) still remain a relatively underdeveloped branch in the family of TTF derivatives. Our recent work has investigated the synthesis and characterization of a class of diphenyl-substituted TTFVs carrying alkynyl functionality. The unique conformational and redox properties of such TTFV derivatives along with the versatile chemistry enabled by acetylenic groups (e.g., metal-catalyzed coupling and click reactions) have led us to a variety of functional molecular architectures ranging from oligoynes, polymers, and molecular tweezers, to macrocycles. Property studies of these new TTFV-based molecular materials point to appealing applications in molecular electronics and optoelectronics.
