Abstract
Herein, a palladium-catalyzed 1,3-alkynyl migration of allylic alcohol for the synthesis of β-alkynyl ketone was described. This intramolecular rearrangement reaction demonstrated an enhanced reactivity compared to the traditional intermolecular alkynylation by circumventing the dimerization of alkynes, exhibiting a specific selectivity toward β-alkynyl elimination. Moreover, this reaction featured wide substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, and 100% atom economy.

Abstract
Despite their utility as directing groups, the C-C bond cleavage of cyclopropanes utilizing hydrazones has not been explored. Herein, Pd-catalyzed C-C bond cleavage reaction of N-cyclopropyl acylhydrazones, followed by cycloisomerization to yield pyrazoles, has been developed. The protocol enables the synthesis of various α-pyrazole carbonyl compounds, which have a potential of biological activity. Control experiments and DFT calculations suggest that β-carbon elimination of a stable 6-membered chelate palladium complex occurs, generating a conjugated azine as a reaction intermediate for the following cycloisomerization.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed chemoselective coupling of readily available bicyclo[1.1.1]pentanyl alcohols (BCP-OH) with various halides is reported, which offers expedient approaches to a wide range of cyclobutanone and β,γ-enone skeletons via single or double C-C activation. The chemistry shows a broad substrate scope in terms of both the range of BCP-OH and halides including a series of natural product derivatives. Moreover, dependency of reaction chemodivergence on base additive has been investigated through experimental and density functional theory (DFT) studies, which is expected to significantly enrich the reaction modes and increase the synthetic potential of BCP-OH in preparing more complex molecules.

Abstract
Herein, we reported a Ni-catalyzed carbonylation of cyclopropanol with benzyl bromide to afford multisubstituted cyclopentenone under 1 atm of CO. The reaction proceeds through cascade carbonylation of benzyl bromides, followed by generation of nickel homoenolate from cyclopropanols via β-C elimination to afford 1,4-diketones, which undergoes intramolecular Aldol condensation to furnish highly substituted cyclopentenone derivatives in moderate to good yields. The reaction exhibits high functional group tolerance with broad substrate scope.

Abstract
The catalytic generation of homoenolates and their higher homologues has been a long-standing challenge. Like the generation of transition metal enolates, which have been used to great affect in synthesis and medicinal chemistries, homoenolates and their higher homologues have much potential, albeit largely unrealized. Herein, a nickel-catalyzed generation of homoenolates, and their higher homologues, via decarbonylation of readily available cyclic anhydrides has been developed. The utility of nickel-bound homoenolates and their higher homologues is demonstrated by cross-coupling with unactivated alkyl bromides, generating a diverse array of aliphatic acids. A broad range of functional groups is tolerated. Preliminary mechanistic studies demonstrate that: (1) oxidative addition of anhydrides by the catalyst is faster than oxidative addition of alkyl bromides; (2) nickel bound metallocycles are involved in this transformation and (3) the catalyst undergoes a single electron transfer (SET) process with the alkyl bromide.

Abstract
The addition of organometallic reagents to ketones constitutes one of the most straightforward synthetic approaches to tertiary alcohols. However, due to the absence of a well-behaved class of cyclopropanone surrogates accessible in enantioenriched form, such a trivial synthetic disconnection has received very little attention in the literature for the formation of tertiary cyclopropanols. In this work, we report a simple and high-yielding synthesis of 1-substituted cyclopropanols via the addition of diverse organometallic reagents to 1-phenylsulfonylcyclopropanols, acting here as in situ precursors of the corresponding cyclopropanones. The transformation is shown to be amenable to sp-, sp2-, or sp3-hybridized organometallic C-nucleophiles under mild conditions, and the use of enantioenriched substrates led to highly diastereoselective additions and the formation of optically active cyclopropanols.

Abstract
Cobalt-diphosphine catalysts promote ring-opening coupling reactions between cyclopropanols and unactivated internal alkynes, affording either β-alkenyl ketones or multisubstituted cyclopentenol derivatives in good yields with good to excellent regioselectivities. The chemoselectivity between these β-alkenylation and [3 + 2] annulation reactions, which likely share a cobalt homoenolate as a key catalytic intermediate, is exquisitely controlled by the reaction conditions, with the solvent being a major controlling factor. The reactions are proposed to involve ring opening of cobalt cyclopropoxide into homoenolate, migratory insertion of the alkyne into the Co-C bond, and protodemetalation or intramolecular carbonyl addition of the resulting alkenylcobalt species. The feasibility of these reaction steps was supported by DFT calculations.

Abstract
Catalytic ring opening cross coupling reactions of strained cyclopropanols have been useful for the syntheses of various β-substituted carbonyl products. Among these ring opening cross coupling reactions, the formation of α,β-unsaturated enone byproducts often competes with the desired cross coupling processes and has been a challenging synthetic problem to be addressed. Herein, we describe our efforts in developing divergent syntheses of a wide range of γ-butyrolactones and δ-ketoesters containing all-carbon quaternary centers via copper-catalyzed cyclopropanol ring opening cross couplings with 2-bromo-2,2-dialkyl esters. Our mechanistic studies reveal that unlike the previously reported cases, the formation of α,β-unsaturated enone intermediates is actually essential for the γ-butyrolactone synthesis and also contributes to the formation of the δ-ketoester product. The γ-butyrolactone synthesis is proposed to go through an intermolecular radical conjugate addition to the in situ generated α,β-unsaturated enone followed by an intramolecular radical cyclization to the ester carbonyl double bond. The reactions are effective to build all-carbon quaternary centers and have broad substrate scope.

Abstract
The first cross-coupling of secondary alkyl β-trifluoroboratoketones and -esters has been achieved through application of photoredox/nickel dual catalysis. Although the related β-trifluoroboratoamides have been effectively cross-coupled via Pd-catalysis, the corresponding ketones and esters had proven recalcitrant prior to this report. Reactions occur under mild conditions, and a variety of functional groups and sterically and electronically diverse reaction partners are tolerated.

Abstract
Tertiary cyclopropanols react rapidly with Togni reagent in methanol at room temperature in the presence of catalytic amounts (3 mol%) of CuCl affording β-trifluoromethyl ketones in 65-73% isolated yields. Ring opening in 1,2-dialkylsubstituted cyclopropanols gives a mixture of isomeric β-trifluoromethyl ketones in about 50% combined yield.

Abstract
Novel and general copper-catalyzed cyclopropanol ring opening cross-coupling reactions with difluoroalkyl bromides, perfluoroalkyl iodides, monofluoroalkyl bromides, and 2-bromo-2-alkylesters to synthesize various β-(fluoro)alkylated ketones are reported. The reactions feature mild conditions and excellent functional group compatibility and can be scaled up to gram scale. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest the involvement of radical intermediates. The difluoroalkyl-alkyl cross-coupling products can also be readily converted to more valuable and diverse gem-difluoro-containing compounds by taking advantage of the carbonyl group resulting from cyclopropanol ring opening.

Abstract
The first copper-catalyzed ring-opening electrophilic trifluoromethylation and trifluoromethylthiolation of cyclopropanols to form Csp3-CF3 and Csp3-SCF3 bonds have been realized. These transformations are efficient for the synthesis of β-CF3- and β-SCF3-substituted carbonyl compounds that are otherwise challenging to access. The reaction conditions are mild and tolerate a wide range of functional groups. Application to a concise synthesis of LY2409021, a glucagon receptor antagonist that is used in clinical trials for type 2 diabetes mellitus, is reported as well.

Abstract
A novel copper-catalyzed electrophilic amination of cyclopropanols with O-benzoyl-N,N-dialkylhydroxylamines to synthesize various β-aminoketones via a sequence that includes C-C bond cleavage and Csp(3)-N bond formation is reported. The reaction conditions are mild and tolerate a wide range of functional groups including benzoate, tosylate, expoxide, and α,β-unsaturated carbonyls, which are incompatible in the traditional amine nucleophilic conjugate addition and the Mannich reaction conditions. Preliminary mechanistic studies and a proposed catalytic cycle of this umpolung β-aminoketone synthesis process have been described as well.

Abstract
The palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of cyclopropanol-derived ketone homoenolates with benzyl chlorides is reported. This reaction proceeds in high yields with electron-neutral and electron-rich benzyl chlorides; however, yields are low with electron-poor benzyl chlorides. In addition, a range of cyclopropanols can be coupled in good yields. The reaction can be conducted with a low catalyst loading (1% Pd) and on a gram scale without reduction in yield.
