Abstract
Herein we report the rhodium-catalyzed one-pot three-component reaction of diazo compounds, nitriles, and nitrosoarenes to construct 2,5-dihydro-1,2,4-oxadiazole derivatives. Mechanistic studies indicate that the transformation may proceed through the formation of nitrile ylides intermediates, which then undergo [3+2]-cycloaddition with nitrosoarenes. The strategy exhibits several synthetic advantages, including operational simplicity, good functional group tolerance, and scalability.

Abstract
An oxidative annulation of N-arylbenzimidamides with maleimides has been developed for the first time using a catalytic amount of the [Cp*RhCl2]2 complex for the synthesis of a diverse range of 1H-benzo[4,5]imidazo[2,1-a]pyrrolo[3,4-c]isoquinoline-1,3(2H)-dione derivatives. This method is versatile and atom-economical for producing polycyclic benzo[4,5]imidazo[2,1-a]pyrrolo[3,4-c] isoquinoline-1,3(2H)-dione scaffolds in a single step.

Abstract
We report new mitochondrial uncouplers derived from the conversion of [1,2,5]oxadiazolo[3,4-b]pyrazines to 1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyrazines. The in situ Fe-mediated reduction of the oxadiazole fragment followed by cyclization gave access to imidazopyrazines in moderate to good yields. A selection of orthoesters also allowed functionalization on the 2-position of the imidazole ring. This method afforded a variety of imidazopyrazine derivatives with varying substitution on the 2, 5 and 6 positions. Our studies suggest that both a 2-trifluoromethyl group and N-methylation are crucial for mitochondrial uncoupling capacity.

Abstract
An efficient and selective protocol for the synthesis of perfluoroalkyl-group-substituted benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines has been developed in which β-perfluoroalkyl peroxides act as novel fluorinated C3-building blocks to implement regioselective [3 + 3] annulation with 2-cyanomethyl benzimidazole under metal-free conditions. The application of the synthesized perfluoroalkylated BIPs as potent anticancer reagents versus the nonfluorinated ones demonstrated the biological utility of this method.

Abstract
A Cu(II)-promoted synthesis of an aza-fused N-heterocycle having a benz-imidazopyridine scaffold is developed via an addition-cyclization reaction followed by an Ullmann-type C-N coupling between o-iodoanilines and γ-ketodinitriles. This protocol features a broad substrate scope, giving products in 32-84% yields. The compounds show excellent photoluminescence properties having two absorption maxima in the region between 270-280 and 338-350 nm and emission maxima in the range of 502-533 nm. The HOMO-LUMO energy gap of 3.49-3.57 eV was determined using Gaussian 09 at the B3LYP/6-31G (d, p) basis set level. We also demonstrated a few postsynthetic modifications.

Abstract
The solvent-controllable photoreaction of 4-methoxyazobenzenes to afford 1-aryl-1H-benzimidazoles or N-arylbenzene-1,2-diamines has been studied. The irradiation of 4-methoxyazobenzenes in DMF containing 0.5 M hydrochloric acid provided N2-aryl-4-methoxybenzene-1,2-diamines as the major product, while irradiation in acetal containing 0.16 M hydrochloric acid led to 1-aryl-6-methoxy-2-methyl-1H-benzimidazoles as the major product. A possible reaction mechanism explaining the selectivity was also discussed. A solvent-controllable photoreaction involving 4-methoxyazobenzenes has been developed to synthesize 1-aryl-1H-benzimidazoles or N-arylbenzene-1,2-diamines in moderate to good yields.![]()

Abstract
Under catalyst-free conditions, an efficient method to synthesize 2-pyridinylamides has been developed, and the protocol uses inexpensive and readily available 2-fluoropyridine and amidine derivatives as the starting materials. Simultaneously, the copper-catalysed approach to imidazopyridine derivatives has been established with high chemoselectivity and regiospecificity. The results suggest that the nitrogen-heterocycles containing iodide substituents can also be compatible for the reaction via the cascade Ullmann-type coupling, and the nucleophilic substitution reaction provides the target products in a one-pot manner.

Abstract
An efficient Mizoroki-Heck/amination cascade reaction of o-dihaloarenes with allylamines has been developed using nickel and IPr carbene ligand as catalyst. This protocol enables the synthesis of a broad range of substituted indoles by a cascade process, from readily available starting materials. Mechanistic studies suggest that the Mizoroki-Heck reaction occurred first under IPr-nickel catalysis.

Abstract
Novel 10π-electron cyclic amidines with excellent fluorescence properties were synthesized by a general and efficient 6π-electrocyclic ring closure of ketenimine and imine starting from N-sulfonyl triazoles and arylamines. The photophysical properties of cyclic amidine fluorophores have been studied in detail and have shown good properties of a large Stokes shift, pH insensitivity, low cytotoxicity and higher photostability, which have great potential for biological imaging. Furthermore, this novel fluorophore was successfully applied to the localization of the NK-1 receptor in living systems. Abstract
Under catalyst-free conditions, an efficient method for the synthesis of 2-aminopyridine derivatives through the nucleophilic substitution and hydrolysis of 2-fluoropyridine and acetamidine hydrochloride has been developed. This amination uses inexpensive acetamidine hydrochloride as the ammonia source and has the advantages of a high yield, high chemoselectivity and wide substrate adaptability. The results suggest that other N-heterocycles containing fluorine substituents can also complete the reaction via these reaction conditions and yield the target products.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative annulation reaction of 2-aminopyridine/amidine with isothiocyanate has been reported. This strategy involving C-N/N-S bond formations provides various 5-amino/imino-substituted 1,2,4-thiadiazole derivatives under a Cu/O2 catalytic system. This method has demonstrated high reactivity, mild reaction conditions, and a broad substrate scope. Furthermore, the synthetic utilities of the approach are demonstrated by further modifications.

Abstract
A highly efficient, clean, and simple procedure for the synthesis of a privilege imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine scaffold from 2-chloro-3-nitropyridine in combination with environmentally benign H2O-IPA as a green solvent is presented. The scope of the novel method has been demonstrated through the tandem sequence of SNAr reaction with substituted primary amines followed by the in situ nitro group reduction and subsequent heteroannulation with substituted aromatic aldehydes to obtain functionalized imidazo[4,5-b]pyridines with only one chromatographic purification step. The synthesis pathway appears to be green, simple, and superior compared with other already reported procedures, with the high abundance of reagents and great ability in expanding the structural diversity.

Abstract
1-(2-Hy-droxy-benz-yl)-2-(2-hy-droxy-phen-yl)-1H-benzimidazol-3-ium chloride, C20H17N2O2+·Cl-, was prepared by reaction of salicyl-aldehyde with o-phenyl-enedi-amine in the presence of tri-methyl-silyl chloride acting as a source of HCl. As a result of steric hindrance, the cation in the crystal is far from planar: the benzimidazole ring system makes dihedral angles of 55.49 (9) and 81.36 (8)° with the planes of the phenolic groups. The crystal packing is dominated by O-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, which link the cations and anions into four-membered rings and then into chains along [100]. The title compound exhibits two transitions in the UV region, which are revealed in the solid state and solution spectra as an absorption maximum at 280 nm and a shoulder at 320 nm. According to the results of TD-DFT calculation, both transitions have a π-π* nature and the mol-ecular orbitals involved in these transitions are mostly localized on the benzimidazole ring system and on the phenyl ring attached to it at the 2-position.

Abstract
A new protocol for the synthesis of color-tunable fluorescent 3,5-diarylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridines has been achieved via palladium-catalyzed C-H amination of pyridinium zwitterions. Based on experimental results and computational analysis, we extracted a high correlation of photophysical properties with the theoretical concept and predicted emission wavelengths of 3,5-diarylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridines. The emission wavelengths of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines increase as a function of the electron-withdrawing nature of the substituent on the C5-aryl group of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine as a result of inductive effects on the LUMO levels. Varying the substituent on the C3-aryl group imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine changes the HOMO levels. Combining these two sites, the HOMO and LUMO levels can be tuned fairly decoupled from each other. This conceptual trend is demonstrated across a series where the C3 and C5 positions were functionalized independently and then utilizes a combination strategy where both sites are used to prepare fluorophores with a large window of emission wavelengths. In view of the biological properties of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines, the developed method provides an efficient approach for understanding and preparing strongly fluorescent bioprobes.

Abstract
Various 2,4-disubstituted-1,3a,6a-triazapentalenes possessing methyl and phenyl groups at the C4-position were synthesized. Fluorescence observation of the synthetic 4-methyl- and 4-phenyl-1,3a,6a-triazapentalenes revealed that the introduction of a substituent at the C4-position allowed a long-wavelength shift of the fluorescence maximum. Furthermore, the phenyl group at the C4-position was found to induce a substantial increase in the extinction coefficient value.
