Abstract
Vicinal diamines are privileged scaffolds in medicine, agrochemicals, catalysis, and other fields. While significant advancements have been made in diamination of olefins, diamination of allenes is only sporadically explored. Furthermore, direct incorporation of acyclic and cyclic alkyl amines onto unsaturated π systems is highly desirable and important, but problematic for many previously reported amination reactions including the diamination of olefins. Herein, we report a modular and practical diamination of allenes, which offers efficient syntheses of β,γ-diamino carboxylates and sulfones. This reaction features broad substrate scope, excellent functional group tolerability, and scalability. Experimental and computational studies support an ionic reaction pathway initiated with a nucleophilic addition of the in situ formed iodoamine to the electron deficient allene substrate. An iodoamine activation mode via a halogen bond with a chloride ion was revealed to substantially increase the nucleophilicity of the iodoamine and lower the activation energy barrier for the nucleophilic addition step.

Abstract
Despite the rapid growth of enantioselective halolactonization reactions in recent years, most are effective only when forming smaller (6,5,4-membered) rings. Seven-membered ε-lactones, are rarely formed with high selectivity, and never without conformational bias. We describe the first highly enantioselective 7-exo-trig iodolactonizations of conformationally unbiased ε-unsaturated carboxylic acids, effected by an unusual combination of a bifunctional BAM catalyst, I2, and I(iii) reagent (PhI(OAc)2:PIDA). Abstract
Herein, we report a photoinduced transition-metal-free C(aryl)-N bond formation between 2,4,6-tri(aryl)boroxines or arylboronic acids as an aryl source and 1,4,2-dioxazol-5-ones (dioxazolones) as an amide coupling partner. Chloride anion, either generated in situ by photodissociation of chlorinated solvent molecules or added separately as an additive, was found to play a critical cooperative role, thereby giving convenient access to a wide range of synthetically versatile N-arylamides under mild photo conditions. The synthetic virtue of this transition-metal-free Chan-Evans-Lam-type coupling was demonstrated by large-scale reactions, synthesis of 15N-labeled arylamides, and applicability toward biologically relevant compounds. On the basis of mechanistic investigations, two distinctive photoexcitations are proposed to function in the current process, in which the first excitation involving chloro-boron adduct facilitates the transition-metal-free activation of dioxazolones by single electron transfer (SET), and the second one enables the otherwise-inoperative 1,2-aryl migration of the thus-formed N-chloroamido-borate adduct.

Abstract
Base-assisted transformations of 2-(3-oxoindolin-2-yl)acetonitriles were investigated. Unexpectedly, attempted reactions of substrates possessing nonprotected nitrogen atoms were accompanied by unusual extrusions of 2-arylacetonitriles, followed by a 1,2-aryl shift to afford 3-hydroxyindolin-2-ones. On the other hand, the reactions for N-alkyl derivatives of oxoindolines took the expected route by only providing 1,2,3,3a,4,8b-hexahydropyrrolo[3,2-b]indoles.

Abstract
Propellanes are polycyclic compounds in which tricyclic systems share one carbon–carbon single bond. Propellane frameworks that consist of larger sized rings are found in a variety of natural products. As an approach to the stereoselective synthesis of the propellane framework, one of the efficient methods is forming several rings in a single operation. Lapidilectine B (1) is composed of a propellane framework and was synthesized through the oxidative cyclization of trisubstituted alkenes. When the alkene with an ester moiety was treated with N-iodosuccinimide (NIS), iodocyclization proceeded to give the cyclic carbamate. On the other hand, when PhI(OAc)2 was allowed to react in the carboxyl form, a furoindolin-2-one structure corresponding to the A-B-C ring of lapidilectine B (1) was produced. Furthermore, when Pd(OAc)2 catalyst was used for cyclization under oxidative conditions, the product yield was improved.

Abstract
An aerobic copper-catalyzed cascade oxidative isomerization/[4+4] cyclization of 2,2'-disubstituted stilbenes is described. Under the mild CuCl/DBED/air catalytic system, various 5,10-heteroatom-containing tetrahydroindeno[2,1-a]indenes were efficiently prepared through the difunctionalizations of alkenes in a highly atom economic manner. Mechanistic investigations suggested the bicyclic product was likely formed through a sequence of rapid single-electron oxidation/[4+4] cyclization from 2,2'-disubstituted stilbene. The antarafacial manner of the thermally allowed [4+4] cyclization was further proven by series of control experiments and density functional theory calculations. Our findings provide an important addition to the aerobic copper-catalyzed oxidative cyclization.

A copper-catalyzed aminoazidation of unactivated alkenes is achieved for the synthesis of versatile unsymmetrical 1,2-diamine derivatives. This transformation offers an effective approach to installing an amide and an azide from two diffenent amino precursors onto both terminal and internal alkenes, with remarkable regio- and stereoselectivity. Mechanistic studies show that this diamination reaction proceeds via a nucleophilic amino cyclization followed by an intermolecular C-N bond formation using electrophilic azidoiodinane. This pathway differs from previous azidoiodinane-initiated alkene functionalization, suggesting new reactivity of azidoiodinane. Furthermore, this aminoazidation reaction provides an efficient strategy to introduce azide, one of the most useful chemical reporters, onto a broad range of bioactive azaheterocycles, offering new opportunities in bioorthogonal chemistry and biological studies. Rapid syntheses of 5-HT2C agonist, (-)-enduracididine and azido-cholesterol derivatives demonstrate broad applications of this method in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and chemical biology.

Abstract
A cascade annulation of 2-sulfonamido-N-phenylpropiolamide derivatives leading to the construction of the 2-spiropseudoindoxyl skeleton was realized under mild conditions with phenyliodine(III) bis(trifluoroacetate) (PIFA) as the sole oxidant. This metal-free spirocyclization process is suggested to encompass a sequential C(sp2)-C(sp) and C(sp2)-N bond formation with the concomitant introduction of a carbonyl oxygen.

Abstract
A general protocol for the synthesis of benzylic amines via side-chain amination of alkylquinones is reported. The reactions are initiated by the tautomerization of an alkylquinone to the corresponding quinone methide, which is subsequently trapped in situ by an amine nucleophile. This process is promoted by tertiary amines in protic solvents under mild conditions and is compatible with many functional groups. 1,2- and 1,4-benzoquinones, as well as naphthoquinones, participate in this reaction using a wide range of primary and secondary amines/anilines. The synthetic utility of this transformation is also explored.

Abstract
N,N-Dibromo-p-toluene sulfonamide (TsNBr2) has been found to be an effective reagent for various aminofunctionalization reactions. This reagent behaves both as an electrophilic bromine source as well as amine to react with olefins under different conditions to yield aminoether, imidazoline, diamine and amino bromine. The reaction proceeds rapidly under mild conditions with high regioselectivity. Olefins react with TsNBr2 in moist THF to form δ-amino ether at room temperature. Treatment of TsNBr2 with olefin in MeCN at room temperature produced imidazoline in high yield. Further modification of the reaction condition resulted in the development of a one-step procedure for the synthesis of N-acetyl,N'-tosyl diamine derivatives directly from olefin. When the olefin was treated with 2.4 mol equiv of TsNBr2 in the presence of K2CO3, N,N'-ditosyl diamine derivative was obtained in moderate yield. Instantaneous formation of aminobromine was observed when an olefin was treated with the reagent in dry CH2Cl2 at room temperature.

Abstract

The synthesis of
1,2-diamines has been achieved through a single-step,
tandem sequence involving Rh-catalyzed aziridination followed by NaI-promoted
rearrangement to an isomeric cyclic sulfamide. Facile ring opening
of these products in hot water and pyridine affords differentially
protected vicinal diamines. Demonstration of the utility of this method
for the syntheses of (±)-enduracididine and (±)-allo-enduracididine
is highlighted.

Abstract
Inspired by the biogenetic synthesis of benzofuroindoline-containing natural products, we designed an oxidative coupling between phenol and N-acetyl indoles. This straightforward and direct radical process, mediated by 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone and FeCl3 allowed the regioselective synthesis of benzofuro[3,2-b]indolines, whose structure is found in the natural product phalarine.
