Abstract
C-H/N-H cross-coupling has become a key technology for the selective conjugation of azole drug molecules. However, the development of new synthetic models and green chemical methods is imperative to enhance the construction of multi-functional compounds and compounds with unique functional groups. We herein reported an electrochemical synthesis of α-tetrazolyl ketones with excellent yields and broad substrate scope, encompassing electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups of aryl ketones, heterocycles, and alkyl and various ketone drugs. It was further proved that α-iodoketone was involved in this transformation of the reaction as a critical intermediate.

Abstract
Precise control of the chemoselectivity of the halogenation of a substrate equipped with multiple nucleophilic sites is highly demanding and challenging. Most reported chlorinations of methyl ketones show poor compatibility or even exclusive selectivity toward electron-rich arene, olefin, and alkyne residues. This is attributed to the direct or in situ employment of electrophilic Cl2/Cl+ species. Here, we reported that, even bearing those competitive residues, methyl ketones can still undergo dichlorination to afford α,α-dichloroketones in a chemo-specific manner. Enabled by the I2-dimethyl sulfoxide catalytic system, in which hydrochloric acid only acts as a nucleophilic Cl- donor, this straightforward dichlorination reaction is safe and operator-friendly and has high atomic economy, giving access to structurally diverse α,α-dichloroketones in good yields and with good functional-group tolerance.

Abstract
Cyanoformamides are ubiquitous as useful components for assembling key intermediates and bioactive molecules. The development of an efficient and simple approach to this motif is a challenge. Herein, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the I2-DMSO oxidative system in the preparation of N-arylcyanoformamides from N-arylcyanothioformamides. The synthetic method features mild conditions, broad substrate scope, and high reaction efficiency. Furthermore, this method provides an excellent entry to exclusively afford 2-cyanobenzothiazoles which are useful substrates to access new luciferin analogs. The structures of all new products were elucidated by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and high accuracy mass spectral analysis. Crystal-structure determination by means of single-crystal X-ray diffraction was carried out on (4-bromophenyl)carbamoyl cyanide, 5,6-dimethoxybenzo[d]thiazole-2-carbonitrile, 5-(benzyloxy)benzo[d]oxazole-2-carbonitrile, 4,7-dimethoxybenzo[d]thiazole-2-carbonitrile, and (5-iodo-2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)carbamoyl cyanide, a key intermediate with mechanistic implications. Conversion of N-arylcyanothioformamides to N-arylcyanoformamides and 2-cyanobenzothiazoles has been achieved with I2-DMSO oxidative system.![]()

Abstract
A simple method for coupling of anilines, acetophenones, and elemental sulfur to afford N-arylthioglyoxamides has been developed. Reactions proceeded in the presence of Na2SO3 and DMSO, thus eliminating the need for transition metals and external oxidants. Functionalities such as halogen, ester, methylthio, and heterocycle groups were compatible with the conditions. Electron-poor acetophenones sometimes gave isosteric glyoxamides. Sulfurative coupling of acetophenones and aniline in the presence of Na2SO3 and DMSO solvent to afford N-arylthioglyoxamides was developed.![]()

Abstract
A novel and efficient multicomponent cyclization of methyl ketones, cyanamides, and arylamines for the synthesizing 2,4-diamino-1,3,5-triazines via consecutive formation of four C-N bonds is reported. This multicomponent reaction is characterized by the employment of two molecules of cyanamide for double C(sp3)-H amination of methyl ketones, avoiding complicated prepreparation of substrates and expanding the substrate scope. Furthermore, this multicomponent cyclization strategy provides a new approach for generating diverse 2,4-diamino-1,3,5-triazines with a broad substrate scope under mild conditions.

Abstract
A new synthesis of 2-aroylbenzothiazoles via iodine-promoted domino transformations of anilines, acetophenones, and elemental sulfur was demonstrated. The highlights of this tandem synthesis are (1) easily available anilines and acetophenones as feedstock; (2) transition metal-free conditions; (3) inexpensive, nontoxic, easy handling, and abundant elemental sulfur as a building block. This synthetic strategy would complement the existing methods in the synthesis of this important heterocyclic scaffold. To our best knowledge, the formation of 2-aroylbenzothiazoles from simple anilines, acetophenones, and elemental sulfur was not previously reported in the literature. A new synthesis of 2-aroylbenzothiazoles via iodine-promoted domino transformations of anilines, acetophenones, and elemental sulfur was demonstrated.![]()

Abstract
An efficient and facile protocol for the synthesis of quinazolinone-fused tetracyclic compounds through an iodine-mediated one-pot cascade reaction of 2'-bromoacetophenones with 2-aminobenzohydrazides or 2-aminobenzamides is reported. With 2-aminobenzohydrazides as the substrates, the reaction gave 5H-quinazolino[3,2-b]cinnoline-7,13-diones in moderate to good yields under metal-catalyst-free conditions. With 2-aminobenzamides as the substrates and CuBr as the catalyst, on the other hand, it afforded tryptanthrin derivatives with good efficiency. Mechanistically, the formation of the tetracyclic systems is initiated by iodination and oxidation of 2'-bromoacetophenones followed by a cascade procedure consisting of cyclocondensation, aromatization and intramolecular cyclization of the in situ formed 2-bromoarylglyoxals with 2-aminobenzohydrazides or 2-aminobenzamides, respectively.
