Abstract
An efficient and chemoselective protocol for the single-electron-transfer (SET) reductive deuteration of thioamides using SmI2 and D2O is reported. This method uniquely produces α,α-dideuterio amines via a thio-ketyl radical intermediate without generating alcohol byproducts, distinguishing it from the SET reduction of amides. The inherent high reactivity of thioamides obviates the need for ligands like Et3N to improve the reducing power of SmI2, thereby enabling milder reaction conditions that are compatible with a broad range of sensitive functional groups. This protocol tolerates both primary and secondary aliphatic and aromatic thioamides, leading to the synthesis of 27 α,α-dideuterio amines and valuable deuterated nitrogen heterocycles with >95% deuterium incorporations.

Abstract
Herein, recent developments for Selectfluor-mediated C-H functionalization of N-heteroarenes are described. This type of C-H bond activation is an attractive and competitive alternative to traditional methodologies, allowing the functionalization of a variety of chemical functions. In addition, Selectfluor is a more sustainable and economically accessible oxidant compared with expensive/toxic metals or hazardous peroxides. For a practical understanding, the current review classified systematically the reported strategies in four subsections as follows: (1) carbon-carbon formation, (2) carbon-nitrogen bond formation, (3) carbon-chalcogen bond, and (4) carbon-halogen bond formation. Mechanistic aspects and reaction conditions are fully discussed to provide an understanding of the aspects that govern C-H functionalization in N-heteroarenes mediated by Selectfluor.

Abstract
Transition metal-catalysed C-H functionalization reactions are one of the most efficient synthetic methodologies to construct carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds. The initial developments in the field were largely dominated by expensive transition metal catalysts. However, in the past decade, the focus of the catalyst shifted to first-row transition metals and copper catalysis contributed significantly. Abundant, cost-effective, and less toxic copper catalysts are an ideal green alternative to palladium and similar metals. The intramolecular dehydrogenative coupling itself developed as a prominent area of focus as the strategy straightaway affords complex polycyclic scaffolds in one pot. Regioselective activation of inert C-H bonds were made possible with copper catalysts and interestingly, oxygen served as the terminal oxidant in most of the cases. In the present review the focus is on the intramolecular dehydrogenative coupling reactions between carbon-hydrogen and heteroatom-hydrogen bonds to afford carbon-carbon and carbon-hetero atom bonds, catalysed/mediated by copper salts. Though the intermolecular dehydrogenative coupling reactions of copper have already been reviewed more than once, to the best of our knowledge this is the first comprehensive account of copper-based intramolecular dehydrogenative coupling.

Abstract
A new series of co-drugs was designed based on hybridising the dihydropteroate synthase (DHPS) inhibitor sulphonamide scaffold with the COX-2 inhibitor salicylamide pharmacophore through biodegradable linkage to achieve compounds with synergistic dual inhibition of COX-2/PGE2 axis and DHPS enzyme to enhance antibacterial activity for treatment of septicaemia. Compounds 5 b, 5j, 5n and 5o demonstrated potent in vitro COX-2 inhibitory activity comparable to celecoxib. 5j and 5o exhibited ED50 lower than celecoxib in carrageenan-induced paw edoema test with % PGE2 inhibition higher than celecoxib. Furthermore, 5 b, 5j and 5n showed gastric safety profile like celecoxib. Moreover, in vivo antibacterial screening revealed that, 5j showed activity against S.aureus and E.coli higher than sulfasalazine. While, 5o revealed activity against E.coli higher than sulfasalazine and against S.aureus comparable to sulfasalazine. Compound 5j achieved the target goal as potent inhibitor of COX-2/PGE2 axis and in vivo broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against induced septicaemia in mice.

Abstract
Gold(I)-catalyzed heteroannulation affords the efficient and straightforward construction of heterocyclic compounds. Herein, we developed a gold(I)-catalyzed heteroannulation of salicylic amides with alkynes producing a broad range of 1,3-benzoxazin-4-ones. The utility of this protocol was highlighted by synthesizing variously substituted benzoxazinones containing quaternary carbon centers, showing a high functional group tolerance and excellent atom economy of the thus introduced reaction course.

Abstract
Aim and Objective:
Benzoxazoles are of great importance in natural products, pharmaceutical agents as well as synthetic intermediates. Although many works reported on construction of benzoxazoles by Cu-catalyzed intramolecular O-arylation of ortho-haloanilides have been improved, there are very few reports about transition metal-catalyzed synthesis of benzoxazoles from inactive 2-chloroanilides so far. This work is to explore a green and cheap protocol for intramolecular O-arylation of inactive 2-chloroanilides to prepare 2-arylbenzoxazoles.
Materials and Methods:
We have found Cu(acac)2/1,10-Phen complex was beneficial to intramolecular O-arylation of 2-chloroanilides using K2CO3 as base in EtOH at 90 oC to prepare benzoxazoles.
Results:
An efficient and green method was developed for Cu(II)-catalyzed intramolecular O-arylation of inactive 2-chloroanilides.
Conclusion:
In this way, many 2-arylbenzoxazoles were prepared in good yields.

Abstract
Herein we report the synthesis of imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine heterocycles via a Cu(II)-mediated functionalization of α'-C(sp3)-H bonds of pyridinylaldimines and subsequent cyclization. This strategy exploits the inherent directing ability of heteroleptic aldimine and pyridine groups in the substrate yielding the C-H functionalization of α'-methylene groups in a regioselective fashion over distant methyl or methylene groups in β or γ positions. The observed correlation between the nature of the anionic ligands (halide vs. carboxylate) bonded to copper and the chemoselectivity of the C(sp3)-H activation process points to a concerted metalation-deprotonation pathway prior to cyclization to furnish the corresponding imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine derivative. This copper-mediated C(sp3)-H bond functionalization reaction works for a variety of substrates incorporating linear alkyl chains (from 3 to 12 carbon atoms), and good functional group tolerance (aryl, ether and ester groups). Cu-Catalyzed C(sp2)-H cyanation on the imidazole ring can then take place selectively under oxidative conditions.

Abstract
Ruthenium catalyzed C-H activation is well known for its high tolerance towards the functional group and broad applicability in organic synthesis and molecular sciences, with significant applications in pharmaceutical industries, material sciences, and polymer industry. In the last few decades, enormous progress has been observed with ruthenium-catalyzed C-H activation chemistry. Notably, the vast majority of the C-H functionalization known in the literature are intermolecular, although the intramolecular variant provides fascinating new structural facet starting from the simple molecular scaffolds. Intramolecular C-H functionalization is atom economical and step efficient, results in less formation of undesired products which is easy to purify. This has created a lot of interest in organic chemistry in developing new synthetic strategies for such functionalization. The focus of this review is to present the relatively unexplored intramolecular functionalization of C-H bonds into C-X (X=C, N, O, S) bonds utilizing versatile ruthenium catalysts, their scope, and brief mechanistic discussion.

Abstract
Rhodium-electrocatalyzed arene C-H oxygenation by weakly O-coordinating amides and ketones have been established by bimetallic electrocatalysis. Likewise, diverse dihydrooxazinones were selectively accessed by the judicious choice of current, enabling twofold C-H functionalization. Detailed mechanistic studies by experiment, mass spectroscopy and cyclovoltammetric analysis provided support for an unprecedented electrooxidation-induced C-H activation by a bimetallic rhodium catalysis manifold.

Abstract
Copper-mediated direct ortho-C-H amination of arenes has been accomplished with the aid of easily removable bidentate pyridine N-oxide as a directing group. The use of free cyclic secondary amines and anilines as aminating agents and inexpensive copper acetate makes the strategy more effective and favorable from the economic point of view. This reaction is compatible with a wide range of functional groups to synthesize a variety of amine-containing products of high interest. This method also allows the short synthesis of the central scaffold of pharmaceutically relevant Staphylococcus aureus Sortase A inhibitors.

Abstract
C-H activation has surfaced as an increasingly powerful tool for molecular sciences, with notable applications to material sciences, crop protection, drug discovery, and pharmaceutical industries, among others. Despite major advances, the vast majority of these C-H functionalizations required precious 4d or 5d transition metal catalysts. Given the cost-effective and sustainable nature of earth-abundant first row transition metals, the development of less toxic, inexpensive 3d metal catalysts for C-H activation has gained considerable recent momentum as a significantly more environmentally-benign and economically-attractive alternative. Herein, we provide a comprehensive overview on first row transition metal catalysts for C-H activation until summer 2018.

Abstract
An efficient copper-catalyzed C-N bond formation by N-H/C-H cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) between NH-1,2,3-triazoles and N,N-dialkylamides has been developed. The method provided N-amidoalkylated 1,2,3-triazoles with moderate to high yields, and the reactions showed high N2-selectivities when 4,5-disubstituted NH-1,2,3-triazoles served as the substrates.

Abstract
Cu-catalyzed C-H/C-O cyclization of 2,2'-binaphthol, using air as an oxidant, was developed. C-H functionalization of binaphthols occurred at the 8,8'-position to form peri-xanthenoxanthenes that exhibit high charge-carrier mobility. The reaction can tolerate a wide variety of functional groups and afforded the corresponding peri-xanthenoxanthene derivatives via an efficient procedure.

Abstract
Although deprotonation of electron-poor C-H bonds to carbon anions with bases has long been known and widely used in organic synthesis, the hydride elimination from electron-rich C-H bonds to carbon cations or partial carbocations for the introduction of nucleophiles is a comparatively less explored area. Here we report that the carbonyl β-C(sp3)-H bond hydrogens of ortho-acyl phenols could be substituted by intramolecular phenolic hydroxyls to form O-heterocycles, followed by dehydrogenation of the O-heterocycle into flavonoids. The cascade reaction is catalyzed by Pd/C without added oxidants and sacrificing hydrogen acceptors.
