Abstract
A versatile reaction between N-tosylhydrazones and carboxylic acids to access bisamides is reported. This metal-free, room-temperature reaction was catalyzed by TBAI, while TBHP served as the oxidant. Broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance are the key features of the strategy. Subsequent intramolecular N-arylation of suitably substituted bisamides readily afforded functionalized 3-indazolones.

Abstract
In comparison with all-carbon parent compounds, the incorporation of Si-element into carboskeletons generally endows the corresponding sila-analogues with unique biological activity and physical-chemical properties. Silacycles have recently shown promising application potential in biological chemistry, pharmaceuticals industry, and material chemistry. Therefore, the development of efficient methodology to assemble versatile silacycles has aroused increasing concerns in the past decades. In this review, recent advances in the synthesis of silacycle-system are briefly summarized, including transition metal-catalytic and photocatalytic strategies by employing arylsilanes, alkylsilane, vinylsilane, hydrosilanes, and alkynylsilanes, etc. as starting materials. Moreover, a clear presentation and understanding of the mechanistic aspects and features of these developed reaction methodologies have been high-lighted.

Abstract
The interaction of atoms and molecules with quantum light as realized in cavities has become a highly topical and fast growing research field. This interaction leads to hybrid light-matter states giving rise to new phenomena and opening up pathways to control and manipulate properties of the matter. Here, we substantially extend the scope of the interaction by allowing free electrons to enter the cavity and merge and unify the two active fields of electron scattering and quantum-light-matter interaction. In the presence of matter, hybrid metastable states are formed at electron energies of choice. The properties of these states depend strongly on the frequency and on the light-matter coupling of the cavity. The incoming electrons can be captured by the matter inside the cavity solely due to the presence of the cavity. The findings are substantiated by an explicit example and general consequences are discussed.

Abstract
A series of symmetrical tetracyanobutadiene and tetracyanoquinodimethane derivatives with a D-A-D'-A-D structural configuration and silafluorene core (D') were designed and readily synthesized via a [2+2] cycloaddition-retroelectrocyclization (CA-RE) reaction. We found that the photophysical properties and HOMO and LUMO energy levels and gaps of the silafluorene derivatives could be profoundly remolded through CA-RE reactions and modulated by varying the peripheral donor units from phenyl, m-dimethoxyphenyl, and N,N-dimethylaniline to triphenylamine groups. After CA-RE reactions, the HOMO-LUMO gaps of 1a-1j are in the range of 1.75-2.78 eV, with significant decreases of 0.52-1.46 eV compared to those of the parent silafluorene compounds 2a-2j. The intriguing crystal structures of 1f and 1j were analyzed and elucidated to show their unique potential porosity. The stability, electrochemical, and computational studies were systematically performed to unveil the reshaped electron-donating and -withdrawing nature in one molecular system. 1h-1j with peripherally strong amino donors exhibit an intense and broad intramolecular charge transfer absorption band in the near-infrared region from 550 to 900 nm. The molecular design and synthesis reported here broaden the types and fields of D-A molecular systems for potential applications in organic optoelectronic devices.

Abstract
We have developed an efficient and non-toxic method for the environmental-friendly generation of an iminyl radical from cyclobutanone oxime ester via direct thermolysis in the absence of light, transition metals, "tin", and other activators. This redox-neutral cyanoalkylarylation protocol enjoys a wide substrate scope and a good functional group tolerance, providing facile access to oxindoles and isoquinolinediones with a quaternary carbon center that are difficult to prepare by traditional methods.

Abstract
α-Aminosilanes are an important class of organic compounds that show biological activity. In this communication, a new approach to α-aminosilanes that utilizes photoredox catalysis to enable three-component coupling of organo(tristrimethylsilyl)silanes with feedstock alkylamines and aldehydes is presented. A wide range of highly functionalized α-aminosilanes can be obtained in good yields under mild conditions. Both primary amines and secondary amines are compatible with this transformation. Moreover, optically pure α-aminosilanes are accessible by using chiral amines. Mechanistic studies indicate that reactions proceed through radical/radical cross-coupling of silyl radicals with α-amino alkyl radicals.

Abstract
Sila-molecules have recently attracted attention due to their promising applications in medical and industrial fields. Compared with all-carbon parent compounds, the different covalent radius and electronegativity of silicon from carbon generally endow the corresponding sila-analogs with unique biological activity and physicochemical properties. Vinylsilanes feature both silyl-hyperconjugation effect and versatile reactivities, developing vinylsilane-based Smiles rearrangement will therefore provide an efficient platform to assemble complex silacycles. Here we report a practical Ir(III)-catalyzed cycloaromatization of ortho-alkynylaryl vinylsilanes with arylsulfonyl azides for delivering naphthyl-fused benzosiloles under visible-light photoredox conditions. The combination of experiments and density functional theory (DFT) energy profiles reveals the reaction mechanism involving α-silyl radical Smiles rearrangement. Arene-fused siloles have attracted interest due to their promising applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices. Here, the authors report Ir(III)-catalyzed cycloaromatization of ortho-alkynylaryl vinylsilanes with arylsulfonyl azides via α-silyl radical Smiles rearrangement for accessing naphthyl-fused benzosiloles under visible-light photoredox conditions.

Abstract
The study of new C-H silylation reagents and reactions remains an important topic. We reported that under Rh catalysis, silacyclobutanes (SCBs) for the first time were able to react with C(sp2)-H and C(sp3)-H bonds, however the underlying reasons for such a new reactivity were not understood. Through this combined computational and experimental study on C-H silylation with SCBs, we not only depict a reaction pathway that fully accounts for the reactivity and all the experimental findings but also streamline a more efficient catalyst that significantly improves the reaction rates and yields. Our key findings include: (1) the active catalytic species is a [Rh]-H as opposed to the previously proposed [Rh]-Cl; (2) the [Rh]-H is generated via a reductive elimination/β-hydride (β-H) elimination sequence, as opposed to previously proposed endocyclic β-H elimination; (3) the regio- and enantio-determining steps are identified; (4) and of the same importance, the discretely synthesized [Rh]-H is shown to be a more efficient catalyst. This work suggests that the [Rh]-H/diphosphine system should find further applications in C-H silylations involving SCBs.

Abstract
The exploitation of chirality at silicon in asymmetric catalysis is one of the most intriguing and challenging tasks in synthetic chemistry. In particular, construction of enantioenriched mediem-sized silicon-stereogenic heterocycles is highly attractive, given the increasing demand for the synthesis of novel functional-materials-oriented silicon-bridged compounds. Here, we report a rhodium-catalyzed enantioselective construction of six- and seven-membered triorgano-substituted silicon-stereogenic heterocycles. This process undergoes a direct dehydrogenative C-H silylation, giving access to a wide range of triorgano-substituted silicon-stereogenic heterocycles in good to excellent yields and enantioselectivities, that significantly enlarge the chemical space of the silicon-centered chiral molecules. Further elaboration of the chiral monohydrosilane product delivers various corresponding tetraorgano-substituted silicon-stereogenic heterocycles without the loss of enantiopurity. These silicon-bridged heterocycles exhibit bright blue fluorescence, which would have potential application prospects in organic optoelectronic materials.

Abstract
A new and efficient synthesis of 8H-benzo[e]phenanthro[1,10-bc]silines from 2-((2-(arylethynyl)aryl)silyl)aryl triflates under palladium catalysis has been developed. The reaction mechanism was experimentally investigated and a catalytic cycle involving C-H/C-H coupling through a new mode of 1,4-palladium migration with concomitant alkene stereoisomerization is proposed.

Abstract
Various aryl- and heteroaryl-substituted 2-bromobiaryls are converted to cyclometalated lanthanum intermediates by reaction with nBu2 LaCl⋅4 LiCl. These resulting lanthanum heterocycles are key intermediates for the facile preparation of functionalized 2,2'-diiodobiaryls, silafluorenes, fluoren-9-ones, phenanthrenes, and their related heterocyclic analogues. X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectroscopy was used to rationalize the proposed structures of the involved organolanthanum species.

Abstract
Despite the utility of 9-silafluorenes as functional materials and as building blocks, methods for efficient functionalization of their backbone are rare, probably because of the presence of easily cleavable C-Si bonds. Although controlling the regioselectivity of iridium-catalyzed direct borylation of C-H bonds is difficult, we found that bromination and nitration of 2-methoxy-9-silafluorene under mild conditions occurred predominantly at the electron-rich position. The resulting product having methoxy and bromo groups can be utilized as a building block for the synthesis of unsymmetrically substituted 9-silafluorene-containing π-conjugated molecules.

Abstract
A cyclization cascade initiated by the addition of a silyl radical to an electron-deficient carbon-carbon double bond of N-arylacrylamides, followed by intramolecular cyano group insertion and homolytic aromatic substitution has been reported. In the presence of di-lauroyl peroxide (LPO), under metal-free conditions, several readily available hydrosilanes were successfully used as the source of silyl radicals and a series of silyl functionalized 4H-pyrido[4,3,2-gh]phenanthridin-5(6H)-ones were obtained in moderate to good yields.
