Abstract
A chiral-pool protecting-group-free five-step total synthesis of tetranorsesquiterpenoide (+)-lanceolactone A and all of its four stereoisomers using (S)-(+)-, and (R)-(-)-linalool (coriandrol) as building blocks is disclosed. The key steps involved in this synthetic route are regioselective ozonolysis, Au(I)-catalyzed cycloisomerization-induced construction of furan from alleneone, and dye-sensitized photo-oxidation (through 1O2; singlet oxygen) of hydroxyalkyl-tethered furan to access oxaspirolactone. After a thorough evaluation of electronic circular dichroism (ECD) and optical rotation data of all possible stereoisomers, the absolute configuration of natural lanceolactone A at the C4 and C7 positions has been assigned as (+)-(4S,7S), which is an enantiomer to the initially proposed structure (+)-(4R,7R). Further, these investigations led us to extend Feringa and Gawronski's CD correlation method to [5,5]- and [6,5]-oxaspirolactones.

Abstract
An efficient eco-friendly catalyst-free three-component domino multicyclization for the synthesis of new spirobicyclic oxazolidinedione containing cyclopentenone moieties has been established by mixing amines, β-dicarbonyl compounds and N,N'-dimethylalloxan in water at room temperature. This domino process involves multiple reactions such as enamination/aldol-like reaction/Stork enamine annulation/intramolecular cyclization under mild conditions.

Abstract
Two divergent cascade reactions of arylalkynols with homopropargylic amines or electron-deficient olefins were developed to synthesize the spiro-isobenzofuran- b-pyrroloquinolines or bridged-isobenzofuran heterocycles in good yields, respectively. One reaction actually involved intramolecular 5- endo-dig hydroamination cyclization-protonation of homopropargylic amines to give cycloiminium ions and intramolecular 5- exo-dig hydroalkoxylation cyclization of arylalkynols to generate isobenzofuran with exocyclic double bond, followed by the nontypical Povarov-type reaction in the presence of PtCl2/FeCl3 cocatalysts. The other underwent intramolecular hydroalkoxylation cycloisomerization of alkynols with the subsequent normal [4 + 2] cycoaddition with dienophiles. Herein, the arylalkynols acted as both "masked" electron-rich olefins and "masked" electron-rich dienes.

Abstract
Organoaluminum-mediated double interrupted Nazarov cyclization to access bicyclo[3.1.0]hexanols via nucleophilic methyl attack followed by Simmons-Smith-type electrophilic cyclopropanation is reported. These alcohols can undergo ring opening to afford cyclohexanones or cyclohexenones, broadening the range of scaffolds available via interrupted Nazarov reaction beyond the usual cyclopentanoid products. Throughout the sequence, a total of four new C-C bonds are formed, along with four new stereogenic centers.

Abstract
Nazarov reactions of 2-furyl vinyl ketones and related heteroaromatic enones, to produce furan-fused cyclopentanones using a flow photochemical approach, are described. Compounds possessing this connectivity between heterocycle and ketone (2-furyl, 2-benzofuryl, 2-thiophene-yl, and 2-benzothiophene-yl) have traditionally proven difficult or impossible to cyclize with typical Brønsted and Lewis acid mediated methods. Using mild flow photochemistry conditions and acetic acid (AcOH) or hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) as solvent, these compounds were found to cyclize in 45-97% yields, with typical UV exposure times of 3.4-6.8 min. In all cases, 2-furyl and 2-thiophene-yl enones cyclized, whereas 2-benzofuryl and 2-benzothiophene-yl enones exhibited divergent properties with reactivity patterns tied to the identity of the vinyl group. This report discloses the first photo-Nazarov reactions of tetrahydropyridine-substituted 2-furyl ketones, providing a direct approach to the corresponding fused heterocyclic motifs built around a central cyclopentanone. These motifs constitute the core structures of biologically active natural products, including the marine alkaloid nakadomarin A.

Abstract
An efficient synthetic pathway to 1,3-diene-2-ol sulfonates involving the [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of allenic alcohols with sulfonic acids under mild reaction conditions is described. These products can easily undergo reduction or transition-metal catalyzed cross-coupling reactions to yield a series of stereodefined multisubstituted 1,3-dienes.

Abstract
A computational examination of the tandem Nazarov/cycloaddition process involving an allenyl vinyl ketone with a diene has been carried out using the ωB97X-D/6-311++G(d,p)//ωB97X-D/6-31+G(d,p) method with solvation modeled by SMD-PCM. The barrier for the initial Lewis acid mediated Nazarov reaction, which provided the intermediate cyclic oxylallyl cation, was higher than that for any subsequent cycloaddition. The barrier for the first step of a subsequent stepwise reaction did not vary much with the diene, and the lowest barrier was with the diene in its s-trans conformation. Stepwise formation of a (4 + 3) cycloaddition product was not energetically feasible, but (3 + 2) cycloaddition products could have been produced through low energy pathways. The barrier for a concerted (4 + 3) cycloaddition did depend upon the diene, which was always in an s-cis geometry. The barriers for the compact and the extended geometries for the transition states of (4 + 3) cycloadditions were not much different.

Abstract
A novel type of transformation was discovered serendipitously during the Barbier-type allenylation reaction of aromatic ketones promoted by the metal, tin, in aqueous media. Additionally, a series of new, highly functionalized 2-bromo-4-aryl-1,3-pentadienes could be obtained with good yields in this reaction. This cascade reaction shows the unique properties of the metal, tin. Furthermore, it is actually a cascade reaction which involves two steps: one is the Barbier-type allenylation of the carbonyl compound, and the other is an SN2' type addition-elimination reaction. Notably, this reaction has the advantages of simple, mild conditions and is easy to operate. Furthermore, the corresponding product could be applied to various coupling reactions or other diversified transformations.

Abstract
The unusual intramolecular arene/allene cycloaddition described 30 years ago by Himbert permits rapid access to strained polycyclic compounds that offer great potential for the synthesis of complex scaffolds. To more fully understand the mechanism of this cycloaddition reaction, and to guide efforts to extend its scope to new substrates, quantum mechanical computational methods were employed in concert with laboratory experiments. These studies indicated that the cycloadditions likely proceed via concerted processes; a stepwise biradical mechanism was shown to be higher in energy in the cases studied. The original Himbert cycloaddition chemistry is also extended from heterocyclic to carbocyclic systems, with computational guidance used to predict thermodynamically favorable cases. Complex polycyclic scaffolds result from the combination of the cycloaddition and subsequent ring-rearrangement metathesis reactions.
