Abstract
A variety of different ground-state structures of carbene and phosphine groups 1 and 2 cationic, group 11 cationic, and group 10 neutral complexes were studied using density functional theory (DFT) and correlated molecular orbital theory (CCSD(T)) methods. Geometries of complexes with phosphines were studied and compared to available experimental data. Among the three analyzed phosphine ligands, PH3, PMe3, and PPh3, PH3 was found to have noticeably smaller ligand binding energies (LBEs, ΔH298 K). PPh3 has the greatest LBEs with group 2 dications. The difference in LBEs for PMe3 and PPh3 in complexes with group 1 monocations and transition-metal (TM) complexes was significantly less pronounced. The stability and reactivity of phosphine complexes were analyzed and compared with those of previously studied N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC). PH3 has smaller LBEs compared to NHC carbenes. The lower LBEs correlate with the hardness for M(11)+ complexes and correlate with both the hardness and ionic radii for the M(1)+ and M(2)2+ complexes. The presence of additional PH3 substituents on the metal center makes the LBE smaller compared to their unsubstituted or less substituted analogs. The presence of NH3 in a structure causes a smaller effect on binding, and, except for carbene-PtNH3, an increase in LBE was observed. Composite-correlated molecular orbital theory (G3MP2) was used to predict the LBE of various Lewis acidic ligands with PH3 and NHCs to contrast their binding behavior. Binding either phosphine or carbene to metal diamine complexes caused ligand exchange and transfer of NH3 to an outer coordination sphere.

Abstract
We report the reactions of an iminophosphonamido-silylene (1) with different palladium complexes. The reaction of 1 with [Pd(PPh3)4] furnished a homoleptic tris(silylene)-palladium(0) complex. In contrast, treatment of 1 with [PdMe2(tmeda)] led to the unprecedented formation of a non-planar μ3-silylyne-bridged tetranuclear palladium cluster that contains palladium atoms in different oxidation states.

Abstract
The base-free carbazolyl bromosilylene RSiBr (R = 1,8-bis(3,5-di-tert-butyl-phenyl)-3,6-di-tert-butyl-carbazolyl) reacts with (η2-C2H4)Pt(PPh3)2 and Pt(PCy3)2 to form platinasilacyclobutane R(Br)Si(C2H4)Pt(PPh3)2 (1) and silylene platinum complex R(Br)SiPt(PCy3)2 (2), respectively. When silylene complex 2 is treated with C2H4, the six-membered metallasilacycle R(Br)Si(C2H4)2Pt(PCy3)2 (3) is obtained. All compounds are characterised by XRD and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy.

Abstract
Despite the utility of Si-Si bonds, there are relatively few examples of Si-Si bond formation by base metals. In this work, a four-coordinate iron complex, (PNNP)FeII, is shown to strongly activate the Si-H bonds in primary silanes across the Fe-amide bonds in a metal-ligand cooperative fashion. Upon treatment with excess silane, Si-Si dehydrogenative homocoupling is shown to occur across the Fe-Namide bond without concomitant oxidation and spin state changes at the Fe center.

Abstract
Heptanuclear palladium clusters with six palladium atoms in a planar arrangement were obtained from the reaction of [Pd(CNtBu)2]3 with Ph-substituted cyclotetrasilane or cyclopentasilane via the migration of a phenyl group. The molecular structures of these clusters as well as those of two possible intermediates were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses.

Abstract
The construction of well-defined transition-metal clusters has attracted substantial attention due to their unique chemical and/or physical properties. Metal clusters with 1D or 2D structures are now accessible by template-synthesis methods, in which multiple metal atoms are arranged with the aid of template molecules and their 1D or 2D structures. However, the rational synthesis of 3D clusters remains challenging, mostly due to a lack of appropriate template molecules. Herein, we report the rational synthesis of a 2D butterfly shaped Pd4 framework (2) and 3D edge-sharing Pd6 tetrahedra (5) by treatment of easily available organosilicon compounds with Pd(CNtBu)2 . The diphenylsilylene moiety thereby serves as the key component to generate the butterfly structure of the Pd4 clusters in 2. A dimensionality expansion, induced by two Cl atoms, of two butterfly shaped Pd4 subunits supported by two diphenylsilylene moieties afforded the edge-sharing tetrahedral architecture of the Pd6 cluster in 5.
