Abstract
A series of mixed bis-NHC rhodium(I) complexes of type RhCl(η2-olefin)(NHC)(NHC') have been synthesized by a stepwise reaction of [Rh(μ-Cl)(η2-olefin)2]2 with two different NHCs (NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene), in which the steric hindrance of both NHC ligands and the η2-olefin is critical. Similarly, new mixed coumarin-functionalized bis-NHC rhodium complexes have been prepared by a reaction of mono NHC complexes of type RhCl(NHC-coumarin)(η2,η2-cod) with the corresponding azolium salt in the presence of an external base. Both synthetic procedures proceed selectively and allow the preparation of mixed bis-NHC rhodium complexes in good yields.

Abstract
Three different types of bimetallic NHC-metal complexes were synthesized, whose NHC units are attached at the 4,5-positions of xanthene. The NHC units are in close proximity and are designed such that each carbene coordinates one ML unit, while the chelation of one metal by two NHC is not possible. Several xanthene-((NHC)ML)2 complexes with ML = RhCl(cod), IrCl(cod), RhCl(CO)2, IrCl(CO)2, AuCl, AgCl, CuCl and Pd(allyl)Cl were synthesized and investigated.

Abstract
During the last decade, organometallic, coordination, and catalytic chemistry of the three-dimensional metals such as copper (Cu) has been greatly affected by the emergence of nitrogen heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes. The NHCs, and in particular the mononuclear CuI-based ones, have been proven vastly useful in several applications such as in biosynthesis, catalysis, photochemistry, etc. This review tries to thoroughly describe a series of mononuclear CuI NHC complexes and their subcategories such as heteroleptics, and bidentate and tridentate heteroatom complexes, and give some detailed insights on their development, emergence, and applications. A brief outlook is also disclosed to enable other researchers to further develop a platform for future advances and studies in the field of CuI-based NHCs.

Abstract
A new catalytic strategy for the one-pot synthesis of N-sulfonylamidines is described. The cationic copper(I) complexes were found to be highly active and efficient under mild conditions in air and in the absence of solvent. A copper acetylide is proposed as key intermediate in this transformation.

Abstract
We report the synthesis of a novel hydroxyl-functionalised heteroleptic bis-NHC gold(i) complex that permits conjugation to various amines via carbamate bond formation. Abstract
Diffraction-quality single crystals of two gold(I) complexes, namely bis(1,3-dimesityl-4,5-naphthoquinoimidazol-2-ylidene)gold(I) chloride benzene monosolvate, [Au(C29H26N2O2)2]Cl·C6H6 or [(NQMes)2Au]Cl·C6H6, 2, and bis(1,3-dimesityl-4,5-naphthoquinoimidazol-2-ylidene)gold(I) dichloridoaurate(I) dichloromethane disolvate, [Au(C29H26N2O2)2][AuCl2]·2CH2Cl2 or [(NQMes)2Au][AuCl2]·2CH2Cl2, 4, were isolated and studied with the aid of single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Compound 2 crystallizes in a monoclinic space group C2/c with eight molecules in the unit cell, while compound 4 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P-1 with two molecules in the unit cell. The crystal lattice of compound 2 reveals C-H...Cl- interactions that are present throughout the entire structure representing head-to-tail contacts between the aromatic (C-H) hydrogens of naphthoquinone and Cl- counter-ions. Compound 4 stacks with the aid of short interactions between a naphthoquinone O atom of one molecule and the mesityl methyl group of another molecule along the a axis, leading to a one-dimensional strand that is held together by strong π-η2 interactions between the imidazolium backbone and the [AuCl2]- counter-ion. The bond angles defined by the AuI atom and two carbene C atoms [C(carbene)-Au-C(carbene)] in compounds 2 and 4 are nearly rectilinear, with an average value of ∼174.1 [2]°. Though 2 and 4 share the same cation, they differ in their counter-anion, which alters the crystal lattice of the two compounds. The knowledge gleaned from these studies is expected to be useful in understanding the molecular interactions of 2 and 4 under physiological conditions.

Abstract
The emergence of N-heterocyclic carbenes as ligands across the Periodic Table had an impact on various aspects of the coordination, organometallic, and catalytic chemistry of the 3d metals, including Cu, Ni, and Co, both from the fundamental viewpoint but also in applications, including catalysis, photophysics, bioorganometallic chemistry, materials, etc. In this review, the emergence, development, and state of the art in these three areas are described in detail.

Abstract
The anionic 5-acetylimidazol-2-ylidene-4-olate 1 -, named as "IMes-acac", is composed of fused diaminocarbene and acetylacetonato units in the same IMes-based imidazolyl ring. The bifunctional compound 1 - is shown to act as an effective, ditopic bridging ligand for transition metal centers. Several new complexes supported by this ligand were prepared, including the complex [RuCl(p-Cym)(κ2 O,O-1·H)](BF4) (2), which can be regarded as a metallated imidazolium salt, the homobimetallic complex [((COD)Rh)(RhCl(COD))(μ-1κ2 O,O:2κ1 C-1)] (4), the heterobimetallic complexes [((p-Cym)ClRu)(RhCl(COD))(μ-1κ2 O,O:2κ1 C-1)] (3), [((p-Cym)ClRu)(RhCl(CO)2)(μ-1κ2 O,O:2κ1 C-1)] (5), [((p-Cym)ClRu)(Cu(IPr))(μ-1κ2 O,O:2κ1 C-1)] (9), the anionic homoleptic Cu(I) complexes [Cu(κ1 C-1)2]K ([10]K) and [Cu(κ1 C-1)2](NEt4) ([10](NEt4)), and the heterotrimetallic complex [((p-Cym)RuCl)2(Cu)(μ-1κ2 O,O:3κ1 C-1)(μ-2κ2 O,O:3κ1 C-1)](PF6) (11). Preliminary studies on the possible preparation of supramolecular metallopolymers and electrochemical studies on the series of complexes are also reported.

Abstract
The cooperative effect of both NHC and metal centre has been found to destroy chemical warfare agent (CWA) simulants. Choice of both the metal and NHC is key to these transformations as simple, monodentate N-heterocyclic carbenes in combination with silver or vanadium can promote stoichiometric destruction, whilst bidentate, aryloxide-tethered NHC complexes of silver and alkali metals promote breakdown under mild heating. Iron-NHC complexes generated in situ are competent catalysts for the destruction of each of the three targetted CWA simulants.

Abstract
Homo- and heteroleptic bis-NHC copper(I) complexes have been efficiently used as carbene transfer reagents to Au and Pd. The simple and straightforward procedure allows for the synthesis of well-known gold complexes as well as novel cationic bis-NHC Pd(II) species.
