Thermal [2 + 2] Cycloadditions between the Metallodiphosphene (η5-C5Me5)(CO)2Fe−PP−Mes* and a Phosphaalkyne

Diverse Reactions of o-Carborane-Fused Silylenes with C≡E (E = C, P) Triple Bonds

The reactivities of o-carborane-fused silylenes toward molecules with C≡E (E = C, P) bonds are reported. The reactions of bis(silylene) [(LSi:)C]₂B₁₀H₁₀ (1a, L = PhC(NtBu)₂) with arylalkynes afforded bis(silylium) carborane adducts 2 and 3, showing a Si(μ-C₂)Si structure with an open-cage nido-carborane backbone. In contrast, the reaction of 1a with a phosphaalkyne AdC≡P (Ad = 1-adamantyl) smoothly furnished compound 4, comprising fused CPSi rings with a C=Si double bond and Si-Si single bond, and the related formation mechanism was investigated by DFT calculations. Furthermore, when monosilylene [(LSi:)C]CHB₁₀H₁₀ (1b) was employed to react with AdC≡P, compound 5 was isolated. The structure of 5 features a 1,2,3-triphosphetene core. All products were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and/or X-ray crystallography.

Oligomerization of phosphaalkynes mediated by bulky N-heterocyclic carbenes: avenues to novel phosphorus frameworks

Reactions of RCP (R = tBu or Ad (admantyl)) with NHCs (SIMes, 1a; IMes, 1b and IDipp, 1d), leading to 1,2,3-triphosphetenes 2 and 3, a triphosphole 4, and a di-1,2-dihydro-1,2-diphosphete-substituted diphosphene 5, are reported.

A General Route to Metal-Substituted Dipnictenes of the Type [L(X)M]2 E2

Two equivalents of LGa (L=HC[C(Me)N(2,6-iPr₂ C₆ H₃ )]₂ ) reacted with PX₃ (X=Cl, Br) with insertion into two P-X bonds and formation of [L(X)Ga]₂ PX (X=Cl 1, Br 2), whereas the analogous reaction with AsCl₃ occurred with twofold insertion and subsequent elimination of LGaCl₂ and formation of the Ga-substituted diarsene [L(Cl)Ga]₂ As₂ (3). Analogous findings were observed in the reactions with Me₂ NAsCl₂ , yielding the unsymmetrically-substituted diarsene [L(Cl)Ga]As=As[Ga(NMe₂ )L] (4). The reaction of As(NMe₂ )₃ with LGa gave [L(Me₂ N)Ga]₂ As₂ (5) after heating at 165 °C for five days, whereas the reaction with LAl gave [L(Me₂ N)Al]₂ As₂ (6) after heating at only 80 °C for one day. Finally, two equivalents of LGa reacted with Bi(NEt₂ )₃ to give [L(Et₂ N)Ga]₂ Bi₂ (7). Complexes 1-7 were characterized by NMR spectroscopy (¹ H, ¹³ C, ³¹ P), elemental analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (except for 1 and 5). The bonding situations in 4, 6, and 7 were analyzed by quantum chemical calculations.

Isolation of Au-, Co-η1PCO and Cu-η2PCO complexes, conversion of an Ir-η1PCO complex into a dimetalladiphosphene, and an interaction-free PCO anion

Sodium phosphaethynolate reacts with [MCl(PDI)] (M = Co, Ir; PDI = pyridinediimine) to give metallaphosphaketenes, which in the case of iridium rearranges into a dimetalladiphosphene.

Sodium phosphaethynolate reacts with [MCl(PDI)] (M = Co, Ir; PDI = pyridinediimine) to give metallaphosphaketenes, which in the case of iridium rearranges into a dimetalladiphosphene, via CO migration from phosphorus to the metal. Two different bonding modes of the PCO anion to CAAC-coinage metal complexes [CAAC: cyclic (alkyl)(amino)(carbene)] are reported, one featuring a strong Au–P bond and the other an η² coordination to copper. The gold complex appears to be mostly unreactive whereas the copper complex readily reacts with various organic substrates. A completely free PCO anion was structurally characterized as the [Cu(L_a)₂]⁺ (OCP)^– salt. It results from the simple displacement of the PCO unit of the cationic (CAAC)Cu(PCO) complex by a second equivalent of CAAC.
