Abstract
Introduction The ABLE Exoskeleton has been tested to be safe and feasible for persons with spinal cord injury (SCI) to complete basic skills in clinical settings but has not been tested for use in home and community environments. A user-centered design process was employed to test the feasibility of the current ABLE Exoskeleton (designed for clinical use) for persons with SCI to perform the basic and advanced skills required for home and community environments, to gain crucial feedback for the development of a novel personal-use exoskeleton. Methods In this prospective pretest-posttest quasi-experimental study across two SCI centers (Germany, Spain), in-and outpatients with SCI were included into a 22-session training and assessment protocol, utilizing the ABLE Exoskeleton. Feasibility and usability measures [level of assistance (LoA) for basic and advanced skills, donning/doffing-time and LoA] were recorded together with safety outcomes, and participant and therapist satisfaction with the device. Results 10 participants (44.4 ± 24 years), with SCI from C5 to T11, (American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale A-D) completed the study. In 209 sessions, six device-related adverse events (pain and skin lesions) were reported. Average total time for don and doff was 10:23 ± 3:30 min. Eight participants were able to complete don and doff with minimal assistance or less. Independence to carry out all skills in the device increased significantly for all participants (p < 0.05). Participants with chronic SCI required a significantly (p < 0.05) lower LoA for six of the nine advanced skills than those in the sub-acute phase. Discussion This study shows that the ABLE Exoskeleton is safe, feasible and usable for people with SCI in respect to independent donning, doffing and performance of basic and advanced exoskeleton skills. The supervised exoskeleton use in the clinical environment was a highly valuable approach for identifying the challenging tasks and the necessary technological developments that need to be carried out for a personal-use exoskeleton, including a more independent sit-to-stand transition, faster speed of transitions between states and a richer display on the remote control for the user. Abstract
BACKGROUND Wheelchairs are vital for the successful rehabilitation and inclusion of people with mobility disabilities; 10% of the population with disabilities needs a wheelchair, but only 15% have access to an adequate one. Not user-configured wheelchairs may lead to postural deformities and pressure ulcers, thus negatively impact user satisfaction, wheelchair skills, and quality of life. OBJECTIVE To assess the impact of the 8-step "Guidelines on the provision of manual wheelchairs in less-resourced settings" from the World Health Organization (WHO) on user satisfaction, wheelchair skills, and quality of life of Mexican manual wheelchair users. METHODS 12 wheelchair users with spinal cord injury that received rehabilitation were recruited. Volunteers were provided a wheelchair and cushion following the WHO 8-step guidelines. Assessment of QUEST, WHOQOL-Bref, and WST-Q was performed at the beginning of the study and 12 months later. RESULTS Significant improvement was observed in terms of satisfaction (QUEST; P = 0.009) after receiving the wheelchair and the foam cushion (QUEST; P = 0.004). WHOQol-Bref did not denote significant differences. For the dimensions assessed by the WST-Q scores, a significant 10.9% improvement was observed in both, capacity (P = 0.022) and performance (P = 0.009). CONCLUSIONS The application of the WHO 8-step guidelines for wheelchair provision may contribute to increase user satisfaction regarding the wheelchair and cushion devices as well as the prescription process as determined by the QUEST. According to the WST-Q, functional capacity and mobility may also be improved by following the 8-step guidelines.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Low rates of participation and quality of life (QoL) and high rates of psychological distress are common in spinal cord injury (SCI) population. Research has supported the mediating role of self-efficacy and functionality in improving psychosocial outcomes. Furthermore, evidence supports the impact of physical activity (PA) on psychosocial variables, but little is known about the types and intensities of PA. The objective of this study was to determine whether functionality and/or general self-efficacy (GSE) mediate the relationships between the various types of PA: (1) lifestyle and (2) leisure-time physical activity (LTPA); and various intensities of PA: (1) mild, (2) moderate, and (3) heavy PA with participation, psychological distress, and perception of QoL. METHODS The Physical Activity Recall Assessment for SCI, and measures of functionality, GSE, participation, psychological distress, and perception of QoL were administered to 159 participants. Path analysis was performed using Jeffrey's Amazing Statistics Program. RESULTS GSE significantly mediated, and functionality partially significantly mediated, the relationship between LTPA and psychosocial outcomes. GSE and functionality did not mediate the relationship between lifestyle activity and psychosocial outcomes. CONCLUSIONS It is recommended that people with SCI perform LTPA on a regular basis to achieve psychosocial benefits. These programs should be accompanied by strategies to improve GSE.

Abstract
(1) Background: Restoring arm and hand function is a priority for individuals with cervical spinal cord injury (cSCI) for independence and quality of life. Transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation (tSCS) promotes the upper extremity (UE) motor function when applied at the cervical region. The aim of the study was to determine the effects of cervical tSCS, combined with an exoskeleton, on motor strength and functionality of UE in subjects with cSCI. (2) Methods: twenty-two subjects participated in the randomized mix of parallel-group and crossover clinical trial, consisting of an intervention group (n = 15; tSCS exoskeleton) and a control group (n = 14; exoskeleton). The assessment was carried out at baseline, after the last session, and two weeks after the last session. We assessed graded redefined assessment of strength, sensibility, and prehension (GRASSP), box and block test (BBT), spinal cord independence measure III (SCIM-III), maximal voluntary contraction (MVC), ASIA impairment scale (AIS), and WhoQol-Bref; (3) Results: GRASSP, BBT, SCIM III, cylindrical grip force and AIS motor score showed significant improvement in both groups (p ≤ 0.05), however, it was significantly higher in the intervention group than the control group for GRASSP strength, and GRASSP prehension ability (p ≤ 0.05); (4) Conclusion: our findings show potential advantages of the combination of cervical tSCS with an exoskeleton to optimize the outcome for UE.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study examined effects of coach-guided videoconferencing acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) accompanied by psychoeducation on distressed individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) and explored participants' experiences in the intervention. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ten people with SCI participated in 8 individual videoconferencing sessions delivered by trained coaches. Data using self-reported questionnaires and individual interviews was collected at pretest and posttest and analyzing using Wilcoxon signed-rank tests and interpretative phenomenological analysis (ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT04670406). RESULTS Statistically significant improvements were found in depression, anxiety, stress, grief, engagement in meaningful activities, and self-compassion with medium to large effect sizes. There was no significant change in quality of life, resilience, and ACT processes. Participants gained a new way of thinking by: being aware of thoughts and emotions; exploring perceptions of others; and focusing on the present. Also, the intervention equipped participants to deal with challenges by: improving coping with SCI-related conditions; practicing self-compassion, acceptance, and meditation; and acquiring skills of value-based decision making and committed action. CONCLUSIONS Findings contribute to the limited evidence as the first study that measured effects of videoconferencing ACT on people with SCI. Future randomized controlled trials are needed to measure efficacy of internet-delivered ACT for people with SCI.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONGuided videoconferencing ACT may reduce depressive symptoms, anxiety, stress, and grief and increase engagement in meaningful activities and self-compassion in people with SCI.Professionals may consider ACT as a supportive or adjunct service for people with SCI who experience psychological distress.

Abstract
CONTEXT/OBJECTIVE Compare community integration, quality of life, anxiety and depression of people with chronic spinal cord injury (SCI) living in the community before the outbreak of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 disease (COVID-19) and during it. DESIGN Prospective observational cohort study. SETTING In-person follow-up visits (before COVID-19 outbreak) to a rehabilitation hospital in Spain and on-line during COVID-19. PARTICIPANTS Community dwelling adults (≥ 18 years) with chronic SCI. OUTCOME MEASURES Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Community Integration Questionnaire (CIQ) and World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-BREF) were compared using the Wilcoxon ranked test or paired t-test when appropriate. RESULTS One hundred and seventy five people with SCI assessed on-line between June 2020 and November 2020 were compared to their own assessments before COVID-19. Participants reported significantly decreased Social Integration during COVID-19 compared to pre-pandemic scores (P = 0.037), with a small effect size (d = -0.15). Depression (measured using HADS) was significantly higher than before COVID-19 (P < 0.001) with a moderate effect size (d = -0.29). No significant differences were found in any of the 4 WHOQOL-BREF dimensions (Physical, Psychological, Social and Environmental).Nevertheless, when all participants were stratified in two groups according to their age at on-line assessment, the younger group (19-54 years, N = 85) scored lower during COVID-19 than before, in WHOQOL-BREF Physical (P = 0.004), (d = -0.30) and Psychological dimensions (P = 0.007) (d = -0.29). The older group (55-88 years, N = 0) reported no significant differences in any dimension. CONCLUSIONS COVID-19 impacted HADS' depression and CIQ's social integration. Participants younger than 55 years were impacted in WHOQOL-BREF's physical and psychological dimensions, meanwhile participants older than 55, were not.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The aims of the study were (1) to identify relationships between functional and psychological aspects with community integration and quality of life assessments in people with chronic traumatic spinal cord injury and (2) to analyze clinical and demographic predictors of quality of life dimensions. DESIGN This is an observational cohort study, and correlation coefficients were calculated between the Functional Independence Measure, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, the Community Integration Questionnaire, and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF dimensions (physical [D1], psychological [D2], social [D3], and environmental [D4]). Quality of life predictors were identified using multiple linear regression analyses. RESULTS Nine hundred seventy-five people with traumatic spinal cord injury assessed since 2007-2020 were included. The Community Integration Questionnaire home integration correlated strongly with the Functional Independence Measure self-care (r = 0.74) and transfers (r = 0.62) for participants with tetraplegia. The specific Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale items (known as the anhedonia subscale) correlated strongly with D1 (r = -0.65), D2 (r = -0.69), D3 (r = -0.53), and D4 (r = -0.51) for participants with paraplegia and D1 (r = -0.53), D2 (r = -0.61), D3 (r = -0.47), and D4 (r = -0.53) for participants with tetraplegia. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale-depression was the most relevant predictor of D1 (β = -0.61) and D2 (β = -0.76). CONCLUSIONS The Functional Independence Measure transfers and self-care were strongly associated with the Community Integration Questionnaire home integration (in participants with tetraplegia). Anhedonia was strongly related to all four World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF Scale dimensions, being the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale-depression the most relevant predictor of D1 and D2. Abstract
Purpose: This study focuses on exploring the feasibility and the effects of practicing chair-based yoga for 10 weeks on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and interoceptive body awareness (BA) in adults with neurodisability and moderate to severe physical dependence.Materials and Methods: A pre- and post-testing control group design was followed. Participants were 34 service users at a rehabilitation center. The intervention group (IG, n = 17, 53% men, mean age of 48.6 ± 11.4 years) took part in the 10-week chair-based yoga program. The control group (CG, n = 17, 53% men, mean age of 53.1 ± 11.0 years) received usual care. The outcome measures were feasibility (recruitment rate, attrition, completion rate, adherence, participation, safety and tolerability), HRQoL (WHOQoL-BREF questionnaire), and BA (the Multidimensional Assessment of Interoceptive Awareness, MAIA). Participants in the IG completed a questionnaire to measure their personal experience of participating in the program.Results and Conclusions: This study provides implications for a 10-week chair-based yoga program as a feasible, well-tolerated, and safe intervention, reinforced by the participants' retrospective judgment. Compared to the CG, the program produced statistically significant improvements over BA, such as subscales of MAIA Noticing (p = .031, Hedges gs = 0.76), Emotional Awareness (p < .001, Hedges gs = 1.68), and Trusting (p = .036, Hedges gs = 0.74), but not HRQoL, for the IG. Chair-based yoga programs could be a rehabilitation strategy in the socio-health care of a varied population with physical mobility impairments leading to wheelchair use.Implications for RehabilitationA 10-week chair-based yoga intervention was shown to be a feasible, well-tolerated, and safe therapy which allowed people of varying abilities to participate equitable.Chair-based yoga can help people with moderate to severe physical dependence due to neurodisability to improve their interoceptive body awareness.Chair-based yoga does not have a significant impact on the health-related quality of life of this sample of participants.

Abstract
STUDY DESIGN Observational study. OBJECTIVE To describe (1) user satisfaction, (2) the Quality of Life (QoL) and (3) fear of falling in individuals with tetraplegia or paraplegia who used a mono-ski for sit-skiing. SETTING Spinal units and Sport associations. METHODS An observational study of people with spinal cord injury (SCI) who used a sit-ski. Participants were recruited in various SCI rehabilitation centers and sport associations. Participants completed three assessment tools: the Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with assistive Technology (QUEST 2.0); the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQoL-BREF); the Spinal Cord Injury Fall Concern Scale (SCI-FCS). Results were evaluated with chi-squared test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov's test and the significance was set for p values < 0.05. RESULTS Fifteen participants were included. Results showed positive and statistically significant values for all the items of the SCI-FCS related to fear of falling, and for most of the items of the WHOQoL-BREF related to QoL and the QUEST 2.0 related to satisfaction with the device. CONCLUSIONS This study highlights that sit skiing is correlated with high levels of satisfaction with the mono-ski, increases in QoL, and low levels of fear of falling. In adding these findings to the existent literature, it can be stated with more certainty that sit-skiing is a sport that can be recommended in rehabilitation and sports therapy programs.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: Studies on the effects of studying on a medical student’s quality of life are sparse. The World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-BREF) questionnaire is a widely used scale that enables the assessment and international comparisons of the quality of life. The aim of this study was to evaluate psychometric properties of the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire among Serbian medical students. Material and Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study that involved 760 medical students at a state medical faculty at the University of Kragujevac, Serbia. The reliability of the WHOQOL-BREF was evaluated using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and test–retest analysis, and the validity was examined using principal component analysis, with Promax rotation method. Results: Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the whole WHOQOL-BREF scale was 0.896. Internal reliability for all domains was above 0.70, except for the domain “Social Relationships” (0.533). The test–retest reliability for all domains was significant at p < 0.01 level, showing good stability of the scale. Principal component analysis with Promax rotation method indicated four main components that explained 49.5% of variance. Conclusion: The Serbian version of the WHOQOL-BREF scale showed satisfactory psychometric properties that facilitate estimation of the quality of life of medical students.
