Biosynthesis of spinel nickel ferrite nanowhiskers and their biomedical applications

Fabrication of bimetallic Ag@ZnO nanocomposite and its anti-cancer activity on cervical cancer via impeding PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway

INTRODUCTION

Bimetallic nanoparticles, specifically Zinc oxide (ZnO) and Silver (Ag), continue to much outperform other nanoparticles investigated for a variety of biological uses in the field of cancer therapy. This study introduces biosynthesis of bimetallic silver/zinc oxide nanocomposites (Ag@ZnO NCs) using the Crocus sativus extract and evaluates their anti-cancer properties against cervical cancer.

METHODS

The process of generating bimetallic nanoparticles (NPs), namely Ag@ZnO NCs, through the utilization of Crocus sativus extract proved to be uncomplicated and eco-friendly. Various methods, such as UV-vis, DLS, FTIR, EDX, and SEM analyses, were utilized to characterize the generated Ag@ZnO NCs. The MTT assay was employed to assess the cytotoxic properties of biosynthesized bimetallic Ag@ZnO NCs against the HeLa cervical cancer cell line. Moreover, the impact of Ag@ZnO NCs on HeLa cells was assessed by examining cell survival, ROS production, MMP levels, and induced apoptosis. Through western blot analysis, the expression levels of the PI3K, AKT, mTOR, Cyclin D, and CDK proteins seemed to be ascertained. Using flow cytometry, the cancer cells' progression through necrosis and apoptosis, in addition to the cell cycle analysis, were investigated.

RESULTS

Bimetallic Ag@ZnO NCs that were biosynthesized showed a high degree of stability, as demonstrated by the physicochemical assessments. The median size of the particles in these NCs was approximately 80-90 nm, and their zeta potential was -14.70 mV. AgNPs and ZnO were found, according to EDX data. Further, Ag@ZnO NCs hold promise as a potential treatment for cervical cancer. After 24 hours of treatment, a dosage of 5 µg/mL or higher resulted in a maximum inhibitory effect of 58 ± 2.9. The concurrent application of Ag/ZnO NPs to HeLa cells resulted in elevated apoptotic signals and a significant generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). As a result, the bimettalic Ag@ZnO NCs treatment has been recognized as a chemotherapeutic intervention by inhibiting the production of PI3K, AKT, and mTOR-mediated regulation of propagation and cell cycle-regulating proteins.

CONCLUSIONS

The research yielded important insights into the cytotoxic etiology of biosynthesized bimetallic Ag@ZnO NCs against HeLa cells. The biosynthesized bimetallic Ag@ZnO NCs have a significant antitumor potential, which appears to be associated with the development of oxidative stress, which inhibits the development of the cell cycle and the proliferation of cells. Therefore, in the future, biosynthesized bimetallic Ag@ZnO NCs may be used as a powerful anticancer drug to treat cervical cancer.

Study of Urbach energy and Kramers-Kronig on Mn and Zn doped NiFe2O4 ferrite nanopowder for the determination of structural and optical characteristics

MxNi1-xFe2O4 spinel ferrite (M = Mn, Zn, and x = 0, 0.05) has been successfully synthesized by co-precipitation technique with hydrazine hydrate reduction agent (instead of NaOH) and Ethylene glycol surfactant. The XRD spectra of the samples illustrated high crystallinity. The structural characterization of pure and doped fcc NiFe2O4 were calculated by Scherrer, Modified Scherrer, Williamson-Hall, and SSP methods. In comparison of several methods, the Scherrer method is unreasonable method and W-H method has an acceptable range and can calculate both < L > and strain without restriction. The specific surface area in Zn-doped increased, demonstrate increment of adsorption properties in Ni ferrite structure. TEM images revealed the shape of grains is spherical, cubic, and irregular, with a grain size in the range of 35-65 nm. Hysteresis loops illustrated the magnetic behavior of samples. From the reflectance data, the band gap energies were estimated at 1.984, 1.954, and 1.973 eV for un-doped, Mn, and Zn-doped NiFe2O4 respectively (red shift). The almost low value of Urbach energy for pure, Mn, and Zn -doped NiFe2O4 indicates low structural disorder, which can approve the high crystallinity of samples. Direct band gap energy (Eg), refractive index, and extinction coefficient were estimated by the Kramers-Kronig method with linear optical evaluations. The Eg by K-K method is in good agreement with the Eg by Kubelka-Munk function.

Synthesis of Bimetallic Palladium/Zinc Oxide Nanocomposites Using Crocus sativus and Its Anticancer Activity via the Induction of Apoptosis in Cervical Cancer

Palladium (Pd) and zinc oxide (ZnO) (Pd/ZnO NPs) bimettalic nanocomposites still lag much too far behind other nanoparticles investigated for various biological uses in the area of cancer treatments. Chemically created nanoparticles agglomerate under physiological conditions, impeding their use in biomedical applications. In this study, a straightforward and environmentally friendly method for creating bimetallic nanoparticles (NPs) by combining palladium (Pd) and zinc oxide (ZnO) using Crocus sativus extract (CS-Pd/ZnO NCs) was reported; the bio-synthesize bimetallic palladium/zinc oxide nanocomposites and their antioxidant and anti-cancer properties were assessed. The developed Pd/ZnO NPs were characterized using different approaches, including UV-vis, DLS, FTIR, EDX, and SEM analyses. The present investigation shows how nanocomposites are made, their distinctive properties, antioxidant activity, anticancer mechanisms, and their potential therapeutic applications. DPPH and ABTS tests were used to investigate antioxidant activity. Further, the effects of CS-Pd/ZnO NCs on HeLa cells were assessed using the cell viability, ROS generation, MMP levels, and induced apoptosis. Apoptosis induction was measured using an Annexin V-fluorescein isothicyanate assay. Cell DNA was stained with propidium iodide to evaluate the impact upon this cell cycle. Time-dependent cell death was carried on by CS-Pd/ZnO NCs. The maximum inhibitory effect was 59 ± 3.2 when dosages of 4.5 µg/mL or higher were delivered after 24 h of treatment. Additionally, the CS-Pd/ZnO NCs caused HeLa cells to undergo apoptosis. Apoptotic HeLa cells were present in 35.64% of the treated cells at 4.5 µg/mL, and the cell cycle arrest at G0/G1 phase occurred concurrently. According to these findings, the CS-Pd/ZnO NCs may be a promising candidate for the creation of brand-new cervical cancer treatment.

Nanocrystalline Ni-Zn spinel ferrites: size-dependent physical, photocatalytic and antioxidant properties

The physical properties of nanomagnetic particles are expected to be highly dependent on their size. In this study, besides the promising applications of nanocrystalline Ni-Zn spinel ferrites in the area of photocatalysis and free radical scavenging, we present a detailed study with appropriate scientific explanations on the role of size change in modifying and tuning the microstructural, optical and magnetic properties. Three nanostructured Zn0.3Ni0.7Fe2O4 samples of different particle sizes were prepared via the chemical co-precipitation method. Crystallographic phase purity and formation of the spinel cubic phase for all the samples were tested by X-ray diffraction studies. The magnetic properties of the as-synthesized ferrite nanoparticles have been examined thoroughly at 5 K and 300 K. Emergence of superparamagnetic behavior has been observed for the sample with the smallest size ferrite nanoparticles (ZNF-1). The photocatalytic efficiency of all the nanocatalysts was tested on methylene blue (MB) dye and the smallest sized nanocatalyst (ZNF-1) was identified as the most efficient catalyst in degrading MB dye under light illumination. The degradation efficiency was found to decrease with increasing mean particle size of the prepared samples. The antioxidant properties of the prepared ferrite samples were also studied. Here, too, the ZNF-1 sample with the smallest sized nanoparticles exhibited maximum scavenging of free radicals compared to other samples. Hence, the present study clearly demonstrates that smaller-sized Ni-Zn spinel ferrites are efficient materials for tuning the physical properties as well as for use in photocatalytic and antioxidant applications.

P, Alshehri M, Shah NA. Synthesis, Characterization and Investigation of Optical and Electrical Properties of Polyaniline/Nickel Ferrite Composites

Nickel ferrite nanoparticles are prepared by using a low-temperature self-propagating solution combustion method using urea as fuel. The prepared nickel ferrite nanoparticles were doped with polyaniline in the three different weight ratios of 10%, 30% and 50% by using an in situ polymerization method and by adding ammonium persulfate as an oxidizing agent. The obtained samples were characterized by using XRD, FTIR, SEM and a UV-visible spectrophotometer. XRD examined crystalline peaks of ferrites and amorphous peak of polyaniline and confirmed the formation of the composites. FTIR examined the chemical nature of samples and showed peaks due to polyaniline and the characteristic peaks that were less than 1000 cm-1 wavenumber were due to metal-oxygen bond vibrations of ferrites. AC conductivity increased with frequency in all samples and the highest AC conductivity was seen in polyaniline/nickel ferrite 50%. DC conductivity increased in all samples with the temperature showing the semiconducting nature of the samples. Activation energy was evaluated by using Arrhenius plots and there was a decrease in activation energy with the addition of ferrite content. The UV-visible absorption peaks of polyaniline showed shifting in the composites. The optical direct and indirect band gaps were evaluated by plotting Tauc plots and the values of the optical band gap decreased with addition of ferrite in polyaniline and the Urbach energy increased in the samples with 10%, 30% and 50% polyaniline/nickel ferrite composites. The optical properties of these composites with a low band gap can find applications in devices such as solar cells.

High-Entropy Spinel Ferrites with Broadband Wave Absorption Synthesized by Simple Solid-Phase Reaction

In this work, high-entropy (HE) spinel ferrites of (FeCoNiCrM)_xO_y (M = Zn, Cu, and Mn) (named as HEO-Zn, HEO-Cu, and HEO-Mn, respectively) were synthesized by a simple solid-phase reaction. The as-prepared ferrite powders possess a uniform distribution of chemical components and homogeneous three-dimensional (3D) porous structures, which have a pore size ranging from tens to hundreds of nanometers. All three HE spinel ferrites exhibited ultrahigh structural thermostability at high temperatures even up to 800 °C. What is more, these spinel ferrites showed considerable minimum reflection loss (RL_min) and significantly enhanced effective absorption bandwidth (EAB). The RL_min and EAB values of HEO-Zn and HEO-Mn are about -27.8 dB at 15.7 GHz, 6.8 GHz, and -25.5 dB at 12.9 GHz, 6.9 GHz, with the matched thickness of 8.6 and 9.8 mm, respectively. Especially, the RL_min of HEO-Cu is -27.3 dB at 13.3 GHz with a matched thickness of 9.1 mm, and the EAB reaches about 7.5 GHz (10.5-18.0 GHz), which covers almost the whole X-band range. The superior absorbing properties are mainly attributed to the dielectric energy loss involving interface polarization and dipolar polarization, the magnetic energy loss referring to eddy current and natural resonance loss, and the specific functions of 3D porous structure, indicating a potential application prospect of the HE spinel ferrites as EM absorbing materials.

Magnetic properties, critical behaviors and magnetocaloric effect in non-stoichiometric spinel type Co1+xCrxFe2-xO4

The magnetic properties, magnetocaloric effect, and critical analysis of magnetic behavior of Co_1+xCr_xFe_2-xO₄ (x = 0.125, 0.250, 0.375, and 0.500) with a non-stoichiometric ratio are studied in detail. All the synthesized samples exhibit single-domain behavior. The Cr³⁺ associated with excess Co²⁺ led to tuning the magnetic moment, exchange interaction, magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant, and microwave frequency. The second-order magnetic phase transition has been confirmed from the Arrot and Arrot-Noakes plots for all the samples. The Cr³⁺ associated with excess Co²⁺ also tuned the magnetocaloric (MCE) properties showing the maximum relative cooling power of 156 J kg^-1, which is a higher value than that of previously reported Cr³⁺ substituted stoichiometric cobalt ferrite. The reliability of MCE and the nature of the magnetic phase transition of the investigated samples are confirmed by analyzing the critical exponent analysis, universal curve scaling, and scaling analysis of MCE.

Recent Advances in Nanotechnology for the Management of Klebsiella pneumoniae-Related Infections

Klebsiella pneumoniae is an important human pathogen that causes diseases such as urinary tract infections, pneumonia, bloodstream infections, bacteremia, and sepsis. The rise of multidrug-resistant strains has severely limited the available treatments for K. pneumoniae infections. On the other hand, K. pneumoniae activity (and related infections) urgently requires improved management strategies. A growing number of medical applications are using nanotechnology, which uses materials with atomic or molecular dimensions, to diagnose, eliminate, or reduce the activity of different infections. In this review, we start with the traditional treatment and detection method for K. pneumoniae and then concentrate on selected studies (2015-2022) that investigated the application of nanoparticles separately and in combination with other techniques against K. pneumoniae.

Synthesis characterization of Zn-based MOF and their application in degradation of water contaminants

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are currently popular porous materials with research and application value in various fields such as medicine and engineering. Aiming at the application of MOFs in photocatalysis, this paper mainly reviews the main synthesis methods of ZnMOFs and the latest research progress of Zn MOF-based photocatalysts to degrade organic pollutants in water, such as organic dyes. This nanomaterial is being used to treat wastewater and has proven to be very efficient because of its exceptionally large surface area and porous nature. The results show that Zn-MOFs are capable of high degradation of the above pollutants and over 90% of degradation was observed in publications. In addition, the reusability percentage was examined and studies showed that the Zn-MOF nanostructure has very good stability and can continue to degrade a high percentage of pollutants after several cycles. This review focuses on Zn-MOFs and their composites. First, the methods of synthesis and characterization of these compounds are given. Finally, the application of these composites in the process of photocatalytic degradation of dye pollutants such as methylene blue, methyl orange, crystal violet, rhodamine B, etc. is explained.

Biosynthesis of TiO2 nanoparticles by Caricaceae (Papaya) shell extracts for antifungal application

Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO₂ NPs) were prepared by Caricaceae (Papaya) Shell extracts. The Nanoparticles were analyzed by UV–Vis spectrums, X-ray diffractions, and energy-dispersive X-rays spectroscopy analyses with a scanning electron microscope. An antifungal study was carried out for TiO₂ NP in contradiction of S. sclerotiorums, R. necatrixs and Fusarium classes that verified a sophisticated inhibitions ratio for S. sclerotiorums (60.5%). Germs of pea were individually preserved with numerous concentrations of TiO₂ NPs. An experience of TiO₂ NPs (20%, 40%, 80% and 100%), as well as mechanisms that instigated momentous alterations in seed germinations, roots interval, shoot lengths, and antioxidant enzymes, were investigated. Associated with controls, the supreme seeds germinations, roots and plant growth were perceived with the treatments of TiO₂ NPs. Super-oxide dis-mutase and catalase activities increased because of TiO₂ NPs treatments. This advocates that TiO₂ Nanoparticles may considerably change antioxidant metabolisms in seed germinations.

Nickel oxide nanoparticles synthesis using plant extract and evaluation of their antibacterial effects on Streptococcus mutans

Dental decay is known in the world as the most common human infectious disease. Ascending process of dental caries index in the world shows the failure of oral disease prevention. Streptococcus mutans bacteria cause acid damage and tooth decay by producing acid over time. Nanomaterials with suitable functionality, high permeability, extremely large surface area, significant reactivity, unique mechanical features, and non-bacterial resistance can be considered as promising agents for antimicrobial and antiviral applications. In this study, nickel oxide (NiO) nanoparticles with size range from 2 to 16 nm containing Stevia natural sweetener were eco-friendly synthesized via a simple method. Additionally, their various concentrations were evaluated on S. mutans bacteria by applying the broth dilution method. The results demonstrated that these spherical NiO nanoparticles had efficient bacteriostatic activity on this gram-positive coccus.

Biosynthesis of Zn-doped CuFe2O4 nanoparticles and their cytotoxic activity

Zn-doped CuFe2O4 nanoparticles (NPs) were eco-friendly synthesized using plant extract. These nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). SEM image showed spherical NPs with size range less than 30 nm. In the EDS diagram, the elements of zinc, copper, iron, and oxygen are shown. The cytotoxicity and anticancer properties of Zn-doped CuFe2O4 NPs were evaluated on macrophage normal cells and A549 lung cancer cells. The cytotoxic effects of Zn-doped CuFe2O4 and CuFe2O4 NPs on A549 cancer cell lines were analyzed. The Zn-doped CuFe2O4 and CuFe2O4 NPs demonstrated IC50 values 95.8 and 278.4 µg/mL on A549 cancer cell, respectively. Additionally, Zn-doped CuFe2O4 and CuFe2O4 NPs had IC80 values of 8.31 and 16.1 µg/mL on A549 cancer cell, respectively. Notably, doping Zn on CuFe2O4 NPs displayed better cytotoxic effects on A549 cancer cells compared with the CuFe2O4 NPs alone. Also spinel nanocrystals of Zn-doped CuFe2O4 (~ 13 nm) had a minimum toxicity (CC50 = 136.6 µg/mL) on macrophages J774 Cell Line.

Magnetic properties, magnetocaloric effect, and critical behaviors in Co1-x Cr x Fe2O4

This research work focuses on the magnetic properties, nature of the magnetic phase transition, magnetocaloric effect, and critical scaling of magnetization of various Co_1−xCr_xFe₂O₄ (x = 0, 0.125, 0.25, 0.375, and 0.5). The tunability of the magnetic moment, exchange interactions, magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant, and microwave frequency using Cr³⁺ content has been found. The nature of the magnetic phase transitions for all the Cr³⁺ concentrations exhibits as second order which has been confirmed from the analysis of critical scaling, universal curve scaling, and scaling analysis of the magnetocaloric effect. The critical exponent analysis for all samples was performed from the modified Arrott-, and Kouvel–Fisher-plots. These critical analyses suggest that x = 0.125, 0.250, and 0.375 samples show reliable results in the magnetocaloric effect with relative cooling power (RCP) values in the range of 128–145 J kg⁻¹. On the other hand, x = 0.00, and 0.500 samples exhibit inconsistent RCP values. The universal curve scaling also confirms the reliability of the magnetocaloric effect of the investigated samples.

Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Ocimum basilicum L. and Hibiscus sabdariffa L. Extracts and Their Antibacterial Activity in Combination with Phage ZCSE6 and Sensing Properties

One of the dangerous pathogens that display high resistance to antibiotics is Salmonella enterica (S. enterica), which infects humans and animals. In this study, a new approach was proposed to fight antibiotic-resistant bacteria by using silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with adding the phage ZCSE6. The biosynthesized AgNPs were characterized by analysis of spectroscopy profile of the UV–Vis, visualize the morphology, and size with transmission electron microscopy. Both minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) were assessed. In addition, the AgNPs were able to control the biofilm formation of S. enterica, also, heavy metals detection by AgNPs and their application in milk. UV–Vis spectra showed a surface resonance peak of 400 and 430 nm corresponding to the formation of AgNPs capping with Ocimum basilicum L. and Hibiscus sabdariffa L., respectively. The MIC and MBC values were 6.25 µg/ml to inhibit the growth of S. enterica and 12.5 µg/ml from killing the bacteria and it was decreased to 1.5 µg/ml when combined with the phage. In the present study, AgNPs were combined with phage ZCSE6 to obtain a synergetic antimicrobial activity. Moreover, it increases the milk’s shelf-life and senses the Cd2+ at a concentration of 1 mM in the water.

Nanotechnology-based approaches for effective detection of tumor markers: A comprehensive state-of-the-art review

As well-appreciated biomarkers, tumor markers have been spotlighted as reliable tools for predicting the behavior of different tumors and helping clinicians ascertain the type of molecular mechanism of tumorigenesis. The sensitivity and specificity of these markers have made them an object of even broader interest for sensitive detection and staging of various cancers. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), fluorescence-based, mass-based, and electrochemical-based detections are current techniques for sensing tumor markers. Although some of these techniques provide good selectivity, certain obstacles, including a low sample concentration or difficulty carrying out the measurement, limit their application. With the advent of nanotechnology, many studies have been carried out to synthesize and employ nanomaterials (NMs) in sensing techniques to determine these tumor markers at low concentrations. The fabrication, sensitivity, design, and multiplexing of sensing techniques have been uplifted due to the attractive features of NMs. Various NMs, such as magnetic and metal nanoparticles, up-conversion NPs, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), carbon-based NMs, quantum dots (QDs), and graphene-based nanosensors, hyperbranched polymers, optical nanosensors, piezoelectric biosensors, paper-based biosensors, microfluidic-based lab-on-chip sensors, and hybrid NMs have proven effective in detecting tumor markers with great sensitivity and selectivity. This review summarizes various categories of NMs for detecting these valuable markers, such as prostate-specific antigen (PSA), human carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2), cancer antigen 125 (CA125), cancer antigen 15-3 (CA15-3, MUC1), and cancer antigen 19-9 (CA19-9), and highlights recent nanotechnology-based advancements in detection of these prognostic biomarkers.

pH-responsive cisplatin-loaded niosomes: synthesis, characterization, cytotoxicity study and interaction analyses by simulation methodology

Cisplatin (Cis) is an effective cytotoxic agent, but its administration has been challenged by kidney problems, reduced immunity system, chronic neurotoxicity, and hemorrhage. To address these issues, pH-responsive non-ionic surfactant vesicles (niosomes) by Span 60 and Tween 60 derivatized by cholesteryl hemisuccinate (CHEMS), a pH-responsive agent, and Ergosterol (helper lipid), were developed for the first time to deliver Cis. The drug was encapsulated in the niosomes with a high encapsulation efficiency of 89%. This system provided a responsive release of Cis in pH 5.4 and 7.4, thereby improving its targeted anticancer drug delivery. The noisome bilayer model was studied by molecular dynamic simulation containing Tween 60, Span 60, Ergosterol, and Cis molecules to understand the interactions between the loaded drug and noisome constituents. We found that the platinum and chlorine atoms in Cis are critical factors in distributing the drug between water and bilayer surface. Finally, the lethal effect of niosomal Cis was investigated on the MCF7 breast cancer cell line using 3-(4, 5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Results from morphology monitoring and cytotoxic assessments suggested a better cell-killing effect for niosomal Cis than standard Cis. Together, the synthesis of stimuli-responsive niosomes could represent a promising delivery strategy for anticancer drugs.

Green synthesis of bimetallic ZnO-CuO nanoparticles and their cytotoxicity properties

In this study, a simple and green strategy was reported to prepare bimetallic nanoparticles (NPs) by the combination of zinc oxide (ZnO) and copper oxide (CuO) using Sambucus nigra L. extract. The physicochemical properties of these NPs such as crystal structure, size, and morphology were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission gun scanning electron microscopy (FEG-SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results suggested that these NPs contained polygonal ZnO NPs with hexagonal phase and spherical CuO NPs with monoclinic phase. The anticancer activity of the prepared bimetallic NPs was evaluated against lung and human melanoma cell lines based on MTT assay. As a result, the bimetallic ZnO/CuO NPs exhibited high toxicity on melanoma cancer cells while their toxicity on lung cancer cells was low.

Cytotoxicity properties of plant-mediated synthesized K-doped ZnO nanostructures

In this study, potassium-doped zinc oxide nanoparticles (K-doped ZnO NPs) were green-synthesized using pine pollen extracts based on bioethics principles. The synthesized NPs were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXA), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The cytotoxicity of these nanoparticles (NPs) on normal macrophage cells and cancer cell lines was evaluated. In the same concentrations of K-doped ZnO and pure ZnO NPs, K-doped ZnO NPs demonstrated higher toxicity. The results confirmed that the doped potassium could increase cytotoxicity. The IC₅₀ of K-doped ZnO NPs, pure ZnO NPs, and the examined control drug were 497 ± 15, 769 ± 12, and 606 ± 19 µg/mL, respectively. Considering the obtained IC₅₀ of K-doped ZnO NPs, they were more toxic to the cancer cell lines and had less cytotoxicity on normal macrophage cells.
