Abstract
Delafossite semiconductors have attracted substantial attention in the field of electro-optics owing to their unique properties and availability of p-type materials that are applicable for solar cells, photocatalysts, photodetectors (PDs) and p-type transparent conductive oxides (TCOs). The CuGaO2 (CGO), as one of the most promising p-type delafossite materials, has appealing electrical and optical properties. In this work, we are able to synthesize CGO with different phases by adopting solid-state reaction route using sputtering followed by heat treatment at different temperatures. By examining the structural properties of CGO thin films, we found that the pure delafossite phase appears at the annealing temperature of 900 °C. While at lower temperatures, delafossite phase can be observed, but along with spinel phase. Furthermore, their structural and physical characterizations indicate an improvement of material-quality at temperatures higher than 600 °C. Thereafter, we fabricated a CGO-based ultraviolet-PD (UV-PD) with a metal-semiconductor-metal (MSM) configuration which exhibits a remarkable performance compared to the other CGO-based UV-PDs and have also investigated the effect of metal contacts on the device performance. We demonstrate that UV-PD with the employment of Cu as the electrical contact shows a Schottky behavior with a responsivity of 29 mA/W with a short response time of 1.8 and 5.9 s for rise and decay times, respectively. In contrast, the UV-PD with Ag electrode has shown an improved responsivity of about 85 mA/W with a slower rise/decay time of 12.2/12.8 s. Our work sheds light on the development of p-type delafossite semiconductor for possible optoelectronics application of the future.

Abstract
Magnetic ZnFe2O4/BiVO4/g-C3N4 (ZBC) composites were prepared via a facile hydrothermal and calcination method for the degradation of a representative antibiotics lomefloxacin (LFX) under visible light irradiation. The optimal photocatalyst ZBC-10 with a ZnFe2O4:BiVO4:g-C3N4 mass ratio of 1:8:10 performed 96.1% removal of LFX after 105 min of illumination. The excellent performance is ascribed to the effective construction of heterojunctions and its capacity to form a double Z-scheme charge transmission pathway among the hosts in ZBC-10. The composite enhanced the separation and migration of photoexcited charge carriers and the effective generation of multiple active radicals including ·OH, ·O2-, and 1O2. The LFX degradation process, identified based on an integrated HPLC-Q-TOF-MS analysis and density functional theory computation of the Fukui indices, comprised of three pathways initiated by the opening of the piperazinyl ring, separation of piperazinyl and quinoline moieties, and cleavage of the pyridine ring on the quinoline moieties. Ecotoxicological evaluation confirmed the reduced toxicity of transformation intermediates over photocatalysis. Convenient magnetic recovery, high performance, and high recyclability made ZBC-10 a promising visible-light-activated photocatalyst for practical implementation in eliminating antibiotics from wastewater.

Abstract
Current research is paying much attention to heterojunction nanostructures. Owing to its versatile characteristics such as stimulating morphology, affluent surface-oxygen-vacancies and chemical compositions for enhanced generation of reactive oxygen species. Herein, we report the hydrothermally synthesized TiO2@MoS2 heterojunction nanostructure for the effective production of photoinduced charge carriers to enhance the photocatalytic capability. XRD analysis illustrated the crystalline size of CTAB capped TiO2, MoS2@TiO2 and L-Cysteine capped MoS2@TiO2 as 12.6, 11.7 and 10.2 nm, respectively. The bandgap of the samples analyzed by UV–Visible spectroscopy are 3.57, 3.66 and 3.94 eV. PL spectra of anatase phase titania shows the peaks present at and above 400 nm are ascribed to the defects in the crystalline structure in the form of oxygen vacancies. HRTEM reveals the existence of hexagonal layered MoS2 formation on the spherical shaped TiO2 nanoparticles at the interface. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy recommends the chemical interactions between MoS2 and TiO2, specifically, oxygen vacancies. In addition, the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy studies observed that L-MT sample performed low charge transfer resistance (336.7 Ω cm2) that promotes the migration of electrons and interfacial charge separation. The photocatalytic performance is evaluated by quantifying the rate of Congo red dye degradation under visible light irradiation, and the decomposition efficiency was found to be 97%. The electron trapping recombination and plausible photocatalytic mechanism are also explored, and the reported work could be an excellent complement for industrial wastewater treatment.
