Abstract
Herein, we report the synthesis, molecular structure, and optical features of tetrarylaminoboranes 1 (Mes2B-N(Ph)(C10H7)) and 2 (Mes2B-N(Ph)(C14H9)). In the solution state, 1 shows aggregation-induced emission enhancement and color switching, while 2 displays emission color switching and aggregation-caused quenching. At 77 K, frozen solutions of 1 show delayed fluorescence (DF) and phosphorescence, whereas 2 display only DF. Pristine solids of 1 and 2 showed delayed fluorescence under ambient conditions; however, crystals of both compounds show no phosphorescence under similar conditions. Polymethyl methacrylate thin films of 1 (1 wt % doping concentration) exhibit persistent room-temperature phosphorescence (pRTP) lasting for ∼0.5 s. In contrast, 2 does not show phosphorescence under similar conditions. Systematic photophysical studies and theoretical (DFT and TD-DFT) calculations are performed on these molecules to rationalize their intriguing optical characteristics.

Abstract
Arylboronic esters can be used as versatile reagents in organic synthesis, as represented by Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling. Here we report a serendipitous finding that simple arylboronic esters are phosphorescent in the solid state at room temperature with a lifetime on the order of several seconds. The phosphorescence properties of arylboronic esters are remarkable in light of the general notion that phosphorescent organic molecules require heavy atoms and/or carbonyl groups for the efficient generation of a triplet excited state. Theoretical calculations on phenylboronic acid pinacol ester indicated that this molecule undergoes an out-of-plane distortion at the (pinacol)B-Cipso moiety in the T1 excited state, which is responsible for its phosphorescence. A compound survey with 19 arylboron compounds suggested that the phosphorescence properties might be determined by solid-state molecular packing rather than by the patterns and numbers of boron substituents on the aryl units. The present finding may update the general notion of phosphorescent organic molecules.

Abstract
A series of cyclometalated platinum(II) complexes of the type [(ppy)Pt(LM)]n+ (n = 0, 1) with π-bonded catecholates acting as organometallic ligands (LM) have been prepared and characterized by analytical techniques. In addition, the structures of two complexes of the series were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The packing shows the formation of a 1D supramolecular assembly generated by dPt-πCp* interactions among individual units. All complexes are luminescent in the solid state and in solution media. The results of photophysics have been rationalized by means of density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT investigations.

Abstract
Novel white light-emitting supramolecular phosphorescent polymers were first synthesized through an efficient host–guest interaction, and their performances can be readily adjusted by varying the monomer ratio. The present work provides an effective way to afford high-performance solution-processable white electroluminescent emitters.

Abstract
From the reaction between M2(T(i)PB)4 and 2 equiv of 5-ethynylthiophene-2-carboxylic acid (H-ThCCH) in toluene, the complexes trans-M2(T(i)PB)2(ThCCH)2, where M = Mo (I) or W (II) and T(i)PB = 2,4,6-triisopropyl benzoate, have been isolated and characterized by (1)H NMR, IR, MALDI-TOF MS, UV-vis, steady-state emission, transient absorption, and time-resolved infrared (TRIR) spectroscopies and single-crystal X-ray crystallography for I. The molecular structure of I confirms the trans-substitution pattern and the extended conjugation of the ethynylthienyl ligands via interaction with the Mo2δ orbital. The HOMO of both I and II is the M2δ orbital, and the intense color of the compounds (I is red and II is blue) is due to the M2δ-to-ThCCH (1)MLCT transition. The S1 states for I and II are (1)MLCT. The T1 state is (3)MLCT for II, but (3)MoMoδδ* for I. The TRIR spectra of the ν(C≡C) stretch in the MLCT states are consistent with the delocalization of the electron over both ThCCH ligands. Compound I is shown to be a synthon for the preparation of trans-Mo2(T(i)PB)2(ThCCPh)2 (III) and trans-Mo2(T(i)PB)2(ThCCAuPPh3)2 (IV). Both III and IV have been characterized spectroscopically and by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of III indicates the extended π-conjugation of the trans-ethynyl-thienyl units extends to the added phenyl rings.

Abstract
This review draws a rather comprehensive picture of how Suzuki polycondensation was discovered in 1989 and how it was subsequently developed into the most powerful polymerization method for polyarylenes during the last 20 years. It combines insights into synthetic issues with classes of polymers prepared and touches upon aspects of this method's technological importance. Because a significant part of the developmental work was carried out in industry, the present review makes reference to an unusually large number of patents.
