Abstract
The cleavage of C-S bonds represents a crucial step in fossil fuel refinement to remove organosulfur impurities. Efforts are required to identify alternatives that can replace the energy-intensive hydrodesulfurization process currently in use. In this context, we have developed a series of bis-thiolato-ligated CrIII complexes supported by the L2- ligand (L2- = 2,2'-bipyridine-6,6'-diyl(bis(1,1-diphenylethanethiolate), one of them displaying desulfurization of one thiolate of the ligand under reducing and acidic conditions at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. While only 5-coordinated complexes were previously isolated by reaction of L2- with 3d metal MIII ions, both 5- and 6-coordinated mononuclear complexes have been obtained in the case of CrIII, viz., [CrIIILCl], [CrIIILCl2]-, and [CrIIILCl(CH3CN)]. The investigation of the reactivity of [CrIIILCl(CH3CN)] under reducing conditions led to a dinuclear [CrIII2L2(μ-Cl)(μ-OH)] compound and, in the presence of protons, to the mononuclear CrIII complex [CrIII(LN2S)2]+, where LN2S- is the partially desulfurized form of L2-. A desulfurization mechanism has been proposed involving the release of H2S, as evidenced experimentally.

Abstract
Copper cobalt selenide, CuCo2Se4, has been identified as an efficient catalyst for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction, exhibiting high selectivity for carbon-rich and value-added products. Achieving product selectivity is one of the primary challenges for CO2 reduction reactions, and the catalyst surface plays a pivotal role in determining the reaction pathway and, more importantly, the intermediate adsorption kinetics leading to C1- or C2+-based products. In this research, the catalyst surface was designed to optimize the adsorption of the intermediate CO (carbonyl) group on the catalytic site such that its dwell time on the surface was long enough for further reduction to carbon-rich products but not strong enough for surface passivation and poisoning. CuCo2Se4 was synthesized through hydrothermal method, and the assembled electrode showed the electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 at various applied potentials ranging from -0.1 to -0.9 V vs RHE. More importantly, it was observed that the CuCo2Se4-modified electrode could produce exclusive C2 products such as acetic acid and ethanol with 100% faradaic efficiency at a lower applied potential (-0.1 to -0.3 V), while C1 products such as formic acid and methanol were obtained at higher applied potentials (-0.9 V). Such high selectivity and preference for acetic acid and ethanol formation highlight the novelty of this catalyst. The catalyst surface was also probed through density functional theory (DFT) calculations, and the high selectivity for C2 product formation could be attributed to the optimal CO adsorption energy on the catalytic site. It was further estimated that the Cu site showed a better catalytic activity than Co; however, the presence of neighboring Co atoms with the residual magnetic moment on the surface and subsurface layers influenced the charge density redistribution on the catalytic site after intermediate CO adsorption. In addition to CO2 reduction, this catalytic site was also active for alcohol oxidation producing formic or acetic acid from methanol or ethanol, respectively, in the anodic chamber. This report not only illustrates the highly efficient catalytic activity of CuCo2Se4 for CO2 reduction with high product selectivity but also offers a proper insight of the catalyst surface design and how to obtain such high selectivity, thereby providing knowledge that can be transformative for the field.

Abstract
Strong-field hexadentate ligands were synthesized and coordinated to cobalt metal centers to result in three new low-spin to low-spin Co(III/II) redox couples. The ligand backbone has been modified with dimethyl amine groups to result in redox potential tuning of the Co(III/II) redox couples from -200 to -430 mV versus Fc+/0. The redox couples surprisingly undergo a reversible molecular switch rearrangement from five-coordinate Co(II) to six-coordinate Co(III) despite the ligands being hexadentate. The complexes exhibit modestly faster electron self-exchange rate constants of 2.2-4.2 M-1 s-1 compared to the high-spin to low-spin redox couple [Co(bpy)3]3+/2+ at 0.27 M-1 s-1, which is attributed to the change in spin state being somewhat offset by this coordination switching behavior. The complexes were utilized as redox shuttles in dye-sensitized solar cells with the near-IR AP25 + D35 dye system and exhibited improved photocurrents over the [Co(bpy)3]3+/2+ redox shuttle (19.8 vs 18.0 mA/cm2). Future directions point toward pairing the low-spin to low-spin Co(II/III) tunable series to dyes with significantly more negative highest occupied molecular orbital potentials that absorb into the near-IR where outer sphere redox shuttles have failed to produce efficient dye regeneration.

Abstract
Sulfur-containing compounds have attracted considerable interest due to their wide-ranging applications in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, natural products, and organic materials. The development of efficient and rapid methods for the construction and transformation of sulfur-containing compounds is of great importance. Since nickel is inexpensive and has a variety of valence states, strong nucleophilicity and low energy barriers for oxidative addition, the construction and transformation of sulfur-containing compounds by nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling have become important strategies. In addition, sulfur-containing compounds have also been playing increasingly important roles in the field of cross-coupling due to their thermodynamically stable but dynamic activity. This review will focus on nickel-catalyzed construction and transformation of various sulfide-containing compounds, such as sulfides, disulfides, and hypervalent sulfur-containing compounds.

Abstract
C(aryl)-OMe bond functionalization catalyzed by cobalt(II) chloride in combination with a nacnac-type ligand and magnesium as a reductant is reported. Borylation and benzoylation of aryl methoxides are demonstrated, and C(aryl)-SMe bond borylation can be achieved under similar conditions. This is the first example of achieving these transformations using cobalt catalysis. Mechanistic studies suggest that a Grignard reagent is generated as an intermediate in a rare example of a magnesiation via a C-O bond activation reaction. Indeed, an organomagnesium species could be directly observed by electrospray ionization mass spectroscopic analysis. Kinetic experiments indicate that a heterogeneous cobalt catalyst performs the C-O bond activation.

Abstract
A new and efficient catalytic hydrolysis of aliphatic and aromatic thiolates under ambient conditions is presented. Previously, we have demonstrated (Ganguly et al., Inorg. Chem. 2018, 57, 11306-11309) the Co(II) mediated stoichiometric hydrolysis of thiols to produce alcohols/phenols along with a binuclear dicobalt(II)-hydrosulfide complex, [Co2(PhBIMP)(μ2-SH)(DMF)]2+ (1) (PhBIMP is the anion of 2,6 bis[(bis((N-1-methyl-4,5- diphenylimidazoylmethyl) amino)methyl]- 4-methylphenol). In the present work, we have shown that the product of the stoichiometric reaction, 1, may act as an efficient catalyst for the catalytic hydrolysis of a broad range of aliphatic and aromatic thiolates in DMF at room temperature to produce alcohols/phenols. Complex 1 takes up a thiolate (RS-) and a water molecule to generate an active intermediate complex, [Co2(PhBIMP)(μ2-SH)(RS)(H2O)]1+ (2), which, in turn, releases the alcohol/phenol (ROH), hydrosulfide (HS-), and regenerates 1.

Abstract
Herein we report the synthesis and characterization of a novel bis-tridentate 1,3,4-thiadiazole ligand (L = 2,5-bis[(2-pyridylmethyl)thio]methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole). Two new mononuclear complexes of the type [MII(L)2](ClO4)2 (with M = FeII (C1) and CoII (C2)) have been synthesized, containing the new ligand (L). In both complexes the metal centers are coordinated by an N4S2-donorset and each of the two ligands is donating to the metal ion with just one of the tridentate pockets. The iron(II) complex (C1) is in the low spin [LS] state below room temperature and shows an increase in the magnetic moment only above 300 K. In contrast, the cobalt(II) complex (C2) shows a gradual spin crossover (SCO) with T1/2 = 175 K. To our knowledge, this is the first cobalt(II) SCO complex with an N4S2-coordination.

Abstract
An imino bipyridine cobalt(II) complex was developed for the electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 to formate in acetonitrile with a faradaic efficiency of approximately 80 %. For comparison, a symmetric bis-imino pyridine complex showed lower catalytic activity because of less conjugation in the system. Cyclic voltammetry, electron paramagnetic resonance and IR spectroscopy studies provided mechanistic details and the structures of the key intermediates. DFT calculations confirmed the role of large π-conjugated groups for stabilizing key intermediates through electronic conjugation.

Abstract
Comparative structural and magnetic studies on the binuclear Cu complexes of 1L(2−)/2L(2−) have been done and their electronic structures and observed electronic transitions (DFT and TD-DFT calculations) rationalized. The dimer complex can be converted into the corresponding monomeric Cu(ii) complex, [1L2CuII2(X)] (X = py), by adding an exogenous ligand such as pyridine (py).

Low-spin [M II(L) 2] and [M III(L) 2] + (M = Fe and Co) complexes of tridentate azo-containing pyridine/pyrazine amide ligands: structures, properties and redox potential correlations. Abstract
Using deprotonated forms of tridentate azo-containing pyridine-2-/pyrazine-2-carboxamide 2-[N-(2-phenylazo)carbamoyl]-pyridine/pyrazine, seven bis-ligand complexes of FeII/CoII and FeIII/CoIII have been synthesized. Molecular structures of six of them reveal that these six-coordinate complexes utilize all available donor sites of the ligands and assume MII/IIIN2(pyridine/pyrazine)N'2(amide)N''2(azo) coordination. Complexes of FeII and CoIII are diamagnetic and those of FeIII and CoII are paramagnetic (S = 1/2; room-temperature magnetic data and EPR spectra). Cyclic voltammetry experiments in CH2Cl2 reveal facile metal-centred FeIII/FeII and CoIII/CoII redox responses, and all complexes display quasireversible-to-irreversible ligand(azo)-centred redox processes. The E1/2 values of MIII/MII redox processes for Fe, Co and Ni (reported earlier) complexes of the pyridine amide ligand linearly correlate with those for six-coordinate [MIII(bpy)3]3+/[MII(bpy)3]2+, [MIII(terpy)2]3+/[MII(terpy)2]2+, [MIII(L)]+/[MII(L)]0 or [MIII(L')2]+/[MII(L')2]0 (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, terpy = 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine, hexadentate L(2-) = 1,4-bis[o-(pyridine-2-carboxamidophenyl)]-1,4-dithiobutane and tridentate L'(-) = {2-[2-(arylimino)phenylazo]-pyridine}) couples. Density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP level and time-dependent (TD)-DFT calculations rationalize the electronic structure of the present complexes and throw light on the origin of observed electronic transitions.

Abstract
The complex [CuL2(OClO3)2] [L=2-(benzylthio)aniline] has been synthesised and its crystal structure determined. It displays a one-electron reductive response at −0.38 V versus SCE and its reactions with N3- and SCN- ions give [CuL2(N3)2] and [CuL2(SCN)2]. The copper atom in [CuL2(OClO3)2] assumes a tetragonally distorted, octahedral geometry with two semicoordinated perchlorate oxygens in the axial positions. Two perchlorate ions are also linked to the amino nitrogen of other molecules by intermolecular hydrogen bonding. A plausible description of redox orbitals is given on the basis of single point density functional theory calculations.

Abstract
The syntheses, characterization, and single-crystal X-ray crystal structures are reported for four complexes of iron and cobalt with the pentadentate ligands, 2,6-diacetylpyridinebis(thiosemicarbazone) (H(2)L(1)) and 2,6-diacetylpyridinebis-(phenylthiosemicarbazone) (H(2)L(2)), including a cobalt dimer displaying a deviation from planarity which is unprecedented for this class of ligands and allows the ligand to occupy five positions of a pseudo-octahedral coordination sphere. This dimer reacts with KCN to produce a mononuclear complex of relevance to the active site of cobalt nitrile hydratase.
