Abstract
A series of new pyrazole-alkyl phosphine ligands with varying cycloalkyl ring sizes that enable additive-free regio- and chemoselective C─H arylation of heterocycles are reported. Excellent α/β selectivity of various heterocycles such as benzo[b]thiophene, thiophene, furan, benzofuran, and thiazole can be achieved using these ligands, along with excellent chemoselectivity of C─Cl over C─OTf of chloroaryl triflates. Mechanistic studies supported by both experimental findings and density functional theory calculations indicate that the pyrazole phosphine ligands with optimal ring sizes allow the reaction to proceed with a lower energy barrier via a concerted metalation-deprotonation pathway.

Abstract
Abstract:
Abstract: This unprecedented review with 322 references provides a critical up-to-date picture of the Pd-catalysed intermolecular direct C–H bond arylation of heteroarenes with arylating reagents alternative to aryl halides that include aryl sulfonates (aryl triflates, tosylates, mesylates, and imidazole-1-sulfonates), diaryliodonium salts, [(diacetoxy)iodo]arenes, arenediazonium salts, 1-aryltriazenes, arylhydrazines and N’-arylhydrazides, arenesulfonyl chlorides, sodium arenesulfinates, arenesulfinic acids, and arenesulfonohydrazides. Particular attention has been paid to summarise the preparation of the various arylating reagents and to highlight the practicality, versatility, and limitations of the various developed arylation protocols, also comparing their results with those achieved in analogous Pd-catalysed arylation reactions involving the use of aryl halides as electrophiles. Mechanistic proposals have also been briefly summarised and discussed. However, data concerning Pd-catalysed direct C–H bond arylations involving the C–H bonds of aryl substituents of the examined heteroarene derivatives have not been taken into account.

Abstract
The skeletal presence of 1,3-azoles in a variety of bioactive natural products, pharmacophores, and organic materials demands the derivatization of such heteroarenes regioselectively. Plenty of cross-coupling as well as cyclocondensation reactions have been performed to build up these skeletons but remained commercially unrealizable. A couple of severe drawbacks are faced by these traditional protocols that require a more straightforward strategy to obviate them. Transition metal-catalyzed C-H functionalization has emerged as a superior alternative in that context. 1,3-Azoles and their benzo counterparts have been extensively functionalized exploiting both noble and earth-abundant transition metals. Lately, C-2 functionalization have gained much traction due to the ease of attaining high regioselectivity and installation of synthetically manipulative functionalities. This critical review presents a bird's eye view of all major C-2 functionalization of (benz)azoles catalyzed by a diverse set of metals performed over the past 15 years.

Abstract
A highly efficient palladium-catalyzed arylation of azoles at the C2-position using 1-aryltriazenes as aryl reagents was developed. Azoles including oxazoles, thiazoles, imidazoles, 1,3,4-oxadiazoles, and oxazolines could react with 1-aryltriazenes smoothly to generate the corresponding products in good to excellent yields, and various substitution patterns were tolerated toward the reaction.

Abstract
An eco-friendly and efficient method has been developed for the synthesis of 2-arylbenzoxazoles via a domino iron-catalyzed C–N/C–O cross-coupling reaction. Some of the issues typically encountered during the synthesis of 2-arylbenzoxazoles in the presence of palladium and copper catalysts, including poor substrate scope and long reaction times have been addressed using this newly developed iron-catalyzed method. The synthesis of benzoxazoles via an iron-catalyzed cascade C–N and C–O coupling is described.![]()

Abstract
An indole core bearing a functional group on the C2 position is often found as a key structure in biologically active natural products and pharmaceuticals. Here, we report direct C2-functionalization of indoles triggered by the formation of an iminium species generated from indole and a sulfonium reagent. The reaction proceeded under very mild conditions to give the corresponding C2-substituted indole derivatives in good to high yields.

Abstract
Herein we report the discovery of the benzo[a]imidazo[2,1,5-c,d]indolizine motif displaying tunable emission covering most of the visible spectrum. The polycyclic core is obtained from readily available amides via a chemoselective process involving Tf2O-mediated amide cyclodehydration, followed by intramolecular C-H arylation. Additionally, these fluorescent heterocycles are easily functionalized using electrophilic reagents, enabling divergent access to varied substitution. The effects of said substitution on the compounds' photophysical properties were rationalized by density functional theory calculations. For some compounds, emission wavelengths are directly correlated to the substituent's Hammett constants. Easily introduced nonconjugated reactive functional groups allow the labeling of biomolecules without modification of emissive properties. This work provides a straightforward platform for the synthesis of new moderately bright fluorescent dyes remarkable for their chemical stability, predictability, and unusually high excitation-emission differential.

Abstract
An efficient copper-catalyzed direct 2-arylation of benzoxazoles and benzoimidazoles with aryl bromides is presented. The CuI/PPh3-based catalyst promotes the installation of various aryl and heteroaryl groups through a C-H activation process in good to excellent yields. The cytotoxicity of obtained 2-aryl benzoxazoles (benzoimidazoles) was also evaluated and 1-methyl-2-(naphthalen-1-yl)benzoimidazole showed potential cytotoxicity.

Abstract
A selective functionalization of thiazolo[5,4-f]quinazolin-9(8H)-one has been developed through sequential activation of C-H bonds to furnish diarylated compounds. This strategy allows the regioselective C2 and C7 arylation by a judicious choice of coupling partners and bases, requiring no additional ligands or directing groups. Differently substituted N(8)-benzylated-2,7-diaryl-thiazoloquinazolin-9(8H)-ones were thereby obtained in a facile manner. A one-pot procedure was also performed. These protocols provide a synthetically useful route for late-stage functionalization of this highly valuable scaffold, required in drug discovery.
