Abstract
In recent years, significant advancements have been made in the synthesis and application of 1,3-dienes. This specific structural motif has garnered significant attention from researchers in materials science and biology due to its unique aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties and extensive conjugation systems. The luminescent characteristics of these compounds are notably influenced by the geometry of the two double bonds. Therefore, it is essential to consolidate stereoselective synthetic strategies for 1,3-dienes. This comprehensive review seeks to elucidate the diverse techniques employed to attain stereo-control in the synthesis of 1,3-diene-based AIE luminogens (AIEgens). Particular emphasis is placed on comprehending the determinants of stereoselectivity and exploring the array of substrates amenable to these methods. Furthermore, the review underscores the AIE properties exhibited by these compounds and their extensive utility in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), stimuli-responsive materials, sensors, bioimaging, and photodynamic therapy (PDT).

Abstract
A visible light-induced Co-catalyzed highly regio- and stereoselective reductive coupling of vinyl azaarenes and alkynes has been developed. Notably, Hünig's base together with simple ethanol has been successfully applied as the hydrogen sources instead of commonly used Hantzsch esters in this catalytic photoredox reaction. This approach has considerable advantages for the straightforward synthesis of stereodefined multiple substituted alkenes bearing an azaarene motif, such as excellent regioselectivity (>20 : 1 for >30 examples) and stereoselectivity (>20 : 1 E/Z), broad substrate scope and good functional group compatibility under mild reaction conditions, which has been utilized in the concise synthesis of natural product monomorine I. A reasonable catalytic reaction pathway involving protolysis of the cobaltacyclopentene intermediate has been proposed based on the mechanistic studies.

Abstract
N-Substituted formamides as nucleophiles react with in situ-generated 1,4-oxazepines from N-propargylic β-enaminones followed by spontaneous N-deformylation to deliver densely substituted 2-aminopyridines in good yields (31-88%). The formyl group is found to be a superior traceless activating group of free amines and would ultimately be removed in situ. This reaction proceeds smoothly at room temperature, in the presence of NaOH as sole additive, without protection from the atmosphere and generates H2O and sodium formate as byproducts.

Abstract
Described is the development of a new class of bis(cyclometalated) ruthenium(II) catalyst precursors for C-C coupling reactions between alkene and alkyne substrates. The complex [(cod)Ru(3-methallyl)2] reacts with benzophenone imine or benzophenone in a 1:2 ratio to form bis(cyclometalated) ruthenium(II) complexes (1). The imine-ligated complex 1 a promoted room-temperature coupling between acrylic esters and amides with internal alkynes to form 1,3-diene products. A proposed catalytic cycle involves C-C bond formation by oxidative cyclization, β-hydride elimination, and C-H bond reductive elimination. This Ru(II)/Ru(IV) pathway is consistent with the observed catalytic reactivity of 1 a for mild tail-to-tail methyl acrylate dimerization and for cyclobutene formation by [2+2] norbornene/alkyne cycloaddition.

Abstract
A nickel-catalyzed intermolecular [2 + 2] cycloaddition of conjugated enynes with alkenes has been developed. A variety of electron-deficient alkenes as well as electronically neutral norbornene and 1-decene were applicable to this reaction. The use of conjugated enynes circumvented possible side rections, such as oligomerizations and cyclotrimerizations. The isolation of reaction intermediate complexes revealed that the η(3)-butadienyl coordination is the key for the selective formation of cyclobutene.

Abstract
Diynes and cyanamides undergo an iron-catalyzed [2 + 2 + 2] cycloaddition to form highly substituted 2-aminopyridines in an atom-efficient manner that is both high yielding and regioselective. This system was also used to cyclize two terminal alkynes and a cyanamide to afford a 2,4,6-trisubstituted pyridine product regioselectively.

Abstract
A variety of bicyclic N,N-disubstituted 2-aminopyridines have been prepared from diynes and cyanamides by nickel-catalyzed [2+2+2] cycloaddition reactions. The reactions proceeded at room temperature with low catalyst loading to afford 2-aminopyridines in good to excellent yields. The method is amenable to both internal and terminal diynes and proceeds in a regioselective manner. A number of cyanamides with diverse functional group tolerance were used. The intermolecular version employing 3-hexyne and N-cyanopyrrolidine also afforded the desired N,N-disubstituted 2-aminopyridine in good yield.
